A coalition of eight daily newspapers have sued OpenAI and Microsoft for copyright infringement, expanding a growing front in the legal battle over the unauthorized use of articles to power artificial intelligence technology.
The lawsuit, filed in New York federal court on Tuesday, is at least the fourth complaint brought against the Sam Altman-led firm over copyright issues associated with training the automated chatbots that have vaulted the company to a multibillion-dollar valuation and sparked rivals to pour troves of cash into competing technology. It argues that thousands of their articles were used to train the AI systems that power ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and other products that now effectively compete against them.
The publishers — The New York Daily News, Chicago Tribune, Orlando Sentinel, South Florida Sun Sentinel, San Jose Mercury News, Denver Post, Orange County Register and St. Paul Pioneer Press — are all owned by investment firm Alden Global Capital.

A new animated TV series is in the works inspired by a video game featured in “Boy Kills World,” the upcoming martial arts action film starring Bill Skarsgård as a deaf boy trained to enact vengeance on those who murdered his family.
“Super Dragon Punch Force 3,” the real-life action-packed fighter video game that appears in the film (and will launch day-and-date with the U.S. and global release of “Boy Kills World” on April 26), has had its own animated series greenlit. Now in development, the show, which is set to dive into the universe of the game, will follow a highly-skilled yet dysfunctional team of misfits as they fight to defend their world from sentient robots, an ancient network of cultists and other intergalactic threats.

Mike Testin: Thank you! I first read Mario’s script about three months before we went into production. The guys at Boulderlight sent it to me knowing it aligned well with my sensibilities. I love the subjective psycho thriller/paranoia movies of the late ’60s,...

The thought of a creepy stalker as a movie hero stinks to high heaven. Yet the idea that Lukas Haas is portraying the protagonist in the upcoming film Browse is more inviting, in large part because of Lucas Haas' ability to embody complex characters who are deeper and more complex than they might appear from the outside. Mike Testin (Dementia) directed the suspense thriller, which tells the story of Richard, the character played by Lukas Haas. In the official synopsis, he is described as "an introverted man who becomes convinced that his identity has been hacked after dabbling in online dating. "Desperate for clarity, Richard seeks to uncover the truth of who is trying to manipulate him and why, but the more he struggles with...

"Wake up, Richard." FilmRise has unveiled an official trailer for a paranoia thriller titled Browse, which hasn't shown up at any festivals this year. This drama finally takes us into the world of digital paranoia, with all of our devices and technology being able to track and observe everything you do. Lukas Haas stars as Richard, a solitary man who becomes convinced that someone hacked into all of his devices and that they're being used to manipulate and control him. "Desperate for clarity, Richard seeks to uncover the truth of who is trying to manipulate him and why, but the more he struggles with his futile investigation, the further he’s cast into an insurmountable web of paranoia." Scary. Also starring Sarah Rafferty, Chloe Bridges, and Bodhi Elfman. This actually looks quite unsettling. Especially with the Clockwork Orange wink at the end. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Mike Testin's Browse,...
