Rafe Carey's body is hauled from the river where he was fishing with his brother-in-law Leo Sturridge. He has been stabbed and DS Corinne Evans investigates. Leo himself injured claims that Rafe's wounds were caused by being buffeted on rocks but elderly recluse Desmond says he heard a third person with the pair, evidence pointing to young criminal Frankie Alder. A client of Leo's social worker wife Katrina Frankie had sent Rafe threatening letters and he is arrested. Corinne, however, questions whether the conviction is sound.
