‘The Twilight Zone’ Cast: What Are They Doing in 2025?
Image
Jordan Peele’s love for the strange and the supernatural has always been loud and clear, and with The Twilight Zone reboot, he got to play host to a modern version of the legendary 1959 series he grew up admiring. Much like Rod Serling did back in the day, Peele used the format to peel back the layers of society’s darkest corners, mixing horror with moral dilemmas and mind games. Though the revival didn’t stick around as long as fans might have hoped, it packed a punch in its short run and offered a platform for some solid talent.

The anthology came and went, but the faces from the series have moved on to pretty interesting chapters in 2025. From high-stakes dramas to animated franchises, here’s what the key cast members are busy with now.

Did Tim Burton Direct The Nightmare Before Christmas?
Image
Even though The Nightmare Before Christmas is a classic holiday movie and over 30 years old, there's still a misconception that it was Tim Burton who directed it. The Nightmare Before Christmas was released in 1993 and introduced the world to the Pumpkin King Jack Skellington, who has grown bored with his role ruling over Halloween and seeks to take over the running of Christmas, to predictably drastic results. Nightmare Before Christmas' blossoming romance between Jack and Sally, the rag doll, is also threaded throughout the story.

Despite its trim 76 minutes, The Nightmare Before Christmas packs tons of heart, humor, and charisma into the story. Plenty of grown adults struggling with career burnout can find much to relate to in The Nightmare Before Christmas' deeper meaning and themes of Jack's midlife crisis. Despite its relative brevity and being aimed at children, it's a shockingly complete movie that holds up well. It's why...

Why The Nightmare Before Christmas Took Over 3 Years to Make, Explained
Image
Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas is a timeless classic that bridges the liminal-feeling gap between Halloween and Christmas with unique creativity. Its particular aesthetic, memorable characters, and innovative animation have cemented it as one of the most iconic stop-motion films ever made. However, the film’s creation was no small feat. Taking over three years to complete, the production was an exhaustive endeavor requiring immense dedication, artistic vision, and technical skill.

At the heart of this project was director Henry Selick, a master of stop-motion animation. While Tim Burton conceptualized the story and its characters, Selick was tasked with the monumental challenge of bringing them to life. The process of crafting The Nightmare Before Christmas required countless hours of painstaking labor, and every frame reflects the tireless work of Selick and his team. Understanding why the film took so long requires delving into the challenges of stop-motion animation,...

Percy Jackson Season 2 Just Cast Thalia, Its Most Important Character
Rick Riordan
A storm is brewing in the second season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, as the show has just cast its most important character, Thalia, the demi-god daughter of Zeus. The hit Disney+ series has breathed new life into Rick Riordan's series. The novels were first adapted into movies, starring Logan Lerman as the titular demi-god. The sequel, Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters closed by teasing the introduction of Thalia (Paloma Kwiatkowski), but after the film series was canceled by 20th Century Studios, fans were desperately left waiting to watch one of the coolest characters in the series arrive in live-action. Well, the wait is nearly over, as Thalia will appear in the upcoming second season.

Keegan-Michael Key Says It’s a ‘Tragedy’ That He No Longer Works with Jordan Peele
Image
Since Key & Peele ended its epic five-season run on Comedy Central back in 2015, its titular stars “don’t see each other that often anymore,” Keegan-Michael Key recently told People. “Which is, to me, a tragedy.”

If you’re looking for the juicy details on a messy comedy feud, you’ll have to look elsewhere. The reason Key no longer works much with Jordan Peele is mainly due to logistics. “Your lives start to evolve and move in different directions,” Key said. “Moving in different directions” is literal — he lives in New York City while Peele lives in Los Angeles with comic/actress wife Chelsea Peretti. Living multiple time zones away makes impromptu meetups impractical.

When the two comics met on MADtv, “it was a thrilling time in my life,” Key explained. “We lived together for a few months and would write and talk about comedy — who we liked and why...

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Casts its Thalia Grace for Season 2
Image
Thalia Grace is finally coming to Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Disney+ confirmed via a press statement that Tamara Smart will play Thalia in Percy Jackson season 2, an adaptation of Rick Riordan's second Percy Jackson novel, The Sea of Monsters. Smart's audition was heavily praised by Riordan, who declared in the statement, "Thalia Grace is one of the most important characters in the Percy Jackson universe, so the right casting was critical. Thalia is a powerful warrior, a fiercely loyal friend, and a demigod rebel with a very 'punk' / 'rage-against-the-machine' sensibility. As soon as we saw Tamara Smart play this role, we knew we had found our daughter of Zeus. She was, no pun intended, electric. Tamara puts the 'grace' in Thalia Grace!"

Percy Jackson Season 2 Casts Thalia Role With Resident Evil Star
Image
Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 has cast their Thalia, with a star from Netflix's Resident Evil TV show taking up the role in the book series adaptation. Percy Jackson season 1 ended with the main characters safely leaving Camp Half-Blood and going their separate ways, intent on returning the year after for more quests and adventures together. Season 2 will be adapting the second book in the series, The Sea of Monsters, which includes the physical introduction of Thalia, a daughter of Zeus who was Annabeth (Leah Sava Jeffries) and Luke's (Charlie Bushnell) friend.

The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Tamara Smart, best known for her role as young Jade Wesker in Resident Evil, will be portraying Thalia in Percy Jackson, who was turned into a tree helping Annabeth and Luke arrive safely in Camp Half-Blood. She will have a recurring role in season 2, meaning it's unclear for now how many episodes she'll appear in.

Key and Peele ‘Don’t See Each Other’ Anymore, Keegan-Michael Key Says: ‘A Tragedy’
Image
Emmy-award winning writer duo and former housemates Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele aren’t as close as they once were, Key told People in an interview published Sunday. He explained, “We don’t see each other that often anymore,” before he added, “Which is, to me, a tragedy.”

Key described the pair’s time together as writers on “Mad TV” as one during which they “shared a mind.” He added of his former housemate, “We lived together for a few months and would write and talk about comedy — who we liked and why we liked them and how that worked in the architecture of what we were trying to build comedically.”

The duo went on to launch their hit comedy series “Key & Peele” in 2012. They also worked together on 2016’s “Keanu,” appeared on “Fargo” during the show’s first season and voiced characters in 2019’s “Toy Story 4” and 2022’s “Wendell & Wild.

Keegan-Michael Key On Why He & Jordan Peele “Don’t See Each Other” Much After ‘Key & Peele’
Image
Although their comedic chemistry is undeniable, Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele‘s careers have gone in different directions.

Nearly a decade after their Comedy Central sketch comedy show Key & Peele ended, Key admitted that he and his former onscreen partner “don’t see each other that often anymore” amid their busy lives on opposite coasts.

“Which is, to me, a tragedy,” he told People, noting that “your lives start to evolve and move in different directions.”

After the duo first appeared together on Fox’s Mad TV in 2004, they landed their own self-titled show on Comedy Central, which ran for five seasons from 2012 to 2015. The series earned them an Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series in 2016.

Key and Peele also appeared together in 2016’s Keanu, which was co-written by Peele. Additionally, they’ve voiced characters together in Storks (2016), Toy Story 4 (2019) and Wendell & Wild (2022).

'A Tragedy': Keegan-Michael Key Addresses Drifiting Apart From Jordan Peele
Image
Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele spent several years working together on sketch comedy, but their lives and careers have since ventured into different directions. For Key, it feels tragic that he no longer sees Peele as much as he did back when Key & Peele was on the air.

Two decades ago, Key and Peele became fast friends when they co-starred on the Saturday Night Live competitor MADtv. They'd later team up to launch their own sketch comedy show on Comedy Central, Key & Peele, which was on the air from 2012 to 2015. Along with winning multiple Emmys, the series garnered great acclaim, and many of the duo's sketches are still often quoted and fondly remembered by fans. For Key himself, the actor said in a new interview with People that his run making comedy with Peele was "a thrilling time in my life."

Keegan-Michael Key Says It’s a “Tragedy” He and Jordan Peele “Don’t See Each Other That Often Anymore”

Though Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele were once an iconic duo, they unfortunately “don’t see each other that often anymore.”

During a recent interview with People magazine, the Wonka actor looked back at his first time meeting Peele, saying, “It was a thrilling time in my life.”

After previously training at Chicago’s Second City together, the pair, known as Key & Peele, were eventually “sharing a mind” on Fox’s Mad TV starting in 2004. Thanks to their comedic dynamic, they later launched their own sketch comedy series, Key & Peele, which ran from 2012-2015 and won two Emmys.

Why Coraline Is Confused For A Tim Burton Movie (It's Complicated)
Image
Coraline is gothic in tone, stop-motion in style, and definitely weird, but did Tim Burton make Coraline? Since Coralines release, the movie has been mistakenly associated with The Nightmare Before Christmas creator and Corpse Bride director Tim Burton. Its true that Coraline shares a lot of things in common with many Tim Burton movies like Frankenweenie its a kid-friendly, stop-motion horror film with the gothic vibe Tim Burton has become synonymous with over his decades-long career. Despite those similarities, Tim Burton actually had nothing whatsoever to do with Coraline's production. Coraline wasn't directed by Tim Burton, but Henry Selick.

The filmmaker behind Coraline is Wendell & Wild director Henry Selick, but this hasn't stopped the beloved adaptation of the Neil Gaiman comic from being falsely attributed to Burton by far too many people. Despite the fact Selick is clearly credited as the Coraline director, the misconception that Tim Burton directed it still persists.

Coraline's Re-Release Defeats Shrek 2 and The Lion King at the Box Office
Image
This weekend's box office had a lot of attention on Alien: Romulus, Deadpool & Wolverine, and It Ends With Us, but another champion was the 15th anniversary re-release of the hit 2009 film, Coraline. Directed by The Nightmare Before Christmas' Henry Selick, Coraline is based on the 2002 novella of the same name by Neil Gaiman. The film follows a young girl who discovers an idealized alternate universe, unaware of the dark and sinister secret it holds. It was the debut film from Laika Studios and opened in theaters on February 6, 2009, to critical acclaim and brought in $124 million worldwide.

According to Deadline, the re-release brought in $8.3 million dollars, taking the number five spot at the box office. This is notably better than other 2024 anniversary re-releases like the 20th anniversary of Shrek 2 ($1.4 million), the 25th anniversary of The Mummy ($1 million), the 30th anniversary of The Lion King ($1 million), and even the 45th...

‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ Director Henry Selick Says Jack Skellington Is Hidden In All His Movies
Image
Henry Selick, the director of The Nightmare Before Christmas, says that he has hidden Jack Skellington’s in every one of his films.

The filmmaker recently revealed that he has left Easter Eggs for fans in all of his movies.

“If you look very, very carefully, you might find that there’s some image of Jack in every other film I’ve made. But I can’t legally say that’s true, but it might be true,” Selick said in an interview with GamesRadar+.

The Coraline director pointed fans to a scene from the film, adding, “You might find something in the breakfast.” GamesRadar+ noted the scene from the 2009 film when The Other Mother cracks an egg into a bowl; the yolk has a familiar face.

Other examples include 1996’s James and the Giant Peach, in which the captain of a gang of skeletal pirates looks like Jack and is referred to as Skellington.

Coraline Books Vs Movie: What Are the Biggest Differences?
Image
Coraline is a charming adaptation of Neil Gaiman's book of the same name, but there are crucial differences between the two works of art. The movie has earned modern classic status and to celebrate its 15th anniversary, Coraline is receiving a wide re-release with fantastic upgrades. Gaiman's beloved children's novella, on the other hand, was published in 2002 and quickly became a favorite with readers of all ages. Seven years later, Coraline's stop-motion adaptation produced by the now-legendary Laika Studios was released under the direction of Henry Selick, the venerated auteur behind hits such as The Nightmare Before Christmas and Wendell & Wild.

Both the Coraline book and the movie are now cherished classics in their own right, with passionate followings that resurface every year when the Halloween season rolls around. A good adaptation does not always mean recreating every aspect of the source material, and the Laika movie...

All 3 Jordan Peele Movies, Ranked
Image
Jordan Peele made a name for himself a while before becoming a feature film director, originally being tied to sketch comedy shows like Mad TV and Key & Peele. The latter show was a collaboration with Keegan-Michael Key, and the two ventured into film with 2016s Keanu. That film certainly isn't representative of the sorts Peele would start making the following year, but he also wasnt the director of that one, with he and Key being the stars, producers, and writers, but the director was Peter Atencio. Considering his filmography as a director also means leaving aside any project he appeared in as a cast member or voice actor, as well as his work as a writer and producer on films such as Candyman (2021) and Wendell & Wild.

Jordan Peele Sets Next Feature as Writer-Director for Halloween 2026
Jordan Peele
Jordan Peele is ready to return to presumably scare you silly.

The writer/director’s fourth film has now been officially dated for Oct. 23, 2026. It will be released, once again, by Universal Studios, which has handled every one of his movies so far, and produced by Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions.

There has been no logline or additional details revealed.

Originally, the project was announced for Christmas Day this year. However, the movie was delayed due to the writers and actors strikes last summer.

Since his last release, 2022’s “Nope,” Peele has certainly kept busy — he cowrote, produced and costarred in Henry Selick’s stop-motion feature “Wendell & Wild;” produced Dev Patel’s directorial debut “Monkey Man;” and has been shepherding “Him” (formerly “Goat”), a horror sports movie starring Marlon Wayans based on a blacklist script; and is working on a video game called “Od” with auteur Hideo Kojima.

Jordan Peele’s Next Movie Gets New October 2026 Release Date
Image
Jordan Peele fans will have to wait to a bit longer for his next movie.

The Oscar-winner’s fourth film as a director will now debut on Oct. 23, 2026. That’s a significant jump from the original release date of Dec. 25, 2024, which was announced in March 2023, two months before the WGA strike that, along with the SAG-AFTRA strike starting in July, brought production to a standstill for most of the year. The delay led Universal to pull the film from its calendar; Peele announced the new release date over social media.

Coraline Director and Neil Gaiman Reunite 15 Years Later for an 'Almost Sequel'
Image
Coraline director Henry Selick has officially unveiled his next stop-motion animated project, after previously directing 2022s horror comedy Wendell & Wild. The said movie will be based on another one of Neil Gaimans literary works in the form of his 2013 novel The Ocean at the End of the Lane.

During a recent appearance at the Annecy Animation Festival, Selick confirmed that he will once again reunite with Gaiman for the upcoming film adaptation of The Ocean at the End of the Lane, which he praised as the British authors "crowning achievement." Selick described the project as an "almost sequel" to his popular coming-of-age dark fantasy Coraline, which would definitely delight fans of the 2009 cult classic who have long wanted to get a sequel. "Instead of a child going to this other world with a monstrous mother, its a monstrous mother who comes into our world to wreak havoc on a kids life,...

Henry Selick plans to make a stop-motion animated adaptation of Neil Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane
Image
When it comes to stop-motion animated films, American filmmaker and clay animator Henry Selick is your guy. He's directed some of the best stop-motion films, such as The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, Coraline and Wendell & Wild. Now, he's looking to make a stop-motion animated film adaptation of Neil Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane. More on this below.

This wouldn't be the first time that Selick and Gaiman collaborated. They previously worked together on the 2009 stop-motion animated movie Coraline. Selick wrote the script and helmed the film, which was based on Gaiman's 2002 dark fantasy horror children's novella of the same name.

The critically acclaimed stop-motion flick was a box-office hit, grossing $131.8 million against a $60 million budget. It even went on to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and a Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film.

Legendary Stop-Motion Director Henry Selick Is Making A Spiritual Successor To Coraline
Image
In what should be an instance of internet-breaking news that would grind the work day to a halt as much as any "Deadpool" trailer does, a living legend has announced that he's developing a new, buzzy-sounding project -- one that he describes as a sort of companion piece to arguably one of his greatest movies ever. Filmmaker and stop-motion expert Henry Selick is somehow both an unqualified titan in the industry and an under-appreciated talent at the same time. But even after delivering the excellent "Wendell & Wild" in 2022 without the fanfare he deserved, Selick is now setting his sights on his next venture ... and it's thematically linked to everyone's favorite button-eyed nightmare, "Coraline."

In a late-breaking bit of news, Variety reported last night that Selick is setting his sights on an adaptation of Neil Gaiman's 2013 novel, "The Ocean at the End of the Lane." What's more, he actually...

There is a palpable excitement and genuine desire to know how these projects are made that is simply not present at any other festival or convention. But, much like Comic-Con, the studio presence is increasing with every year and trying to overwhelm attendees' attention with flashy titles, known IP, and big name talent. Sometimes it works great, though, like in 2022 when Netflix gave a bunch of auteurs the space to realize their passion projects and showcased movies such as "Wendell & Wild" and Guillermo del Toro's "Pinocchio."

This year, Netflix returned to Annecy with another big presentation showcasing some of its upcoming titles, including Zack Snyder's animated show "Twilight of the Gods" and the many other titles it has coming out in the next year or so.

Henry Selick
Coraline writer-director Henry Selick developing Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean At The End Of The Lane
Henry Selick
Henry Selick is working on an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Ocean At The End Of The Lane, which he describes as “almost a sequel” to Coraline.

Henry Selick, the animator behind some of the best stop motion films of all time, is currently working on what he describes as “almost a sequel” to his much-loved 2009 movie, Coraline. It’s an adaptation of The Ocean At The End Of The Lane, a 2013 novel written by British author Neil Gaiman, who also wrote Coraline.

Like Coraline, the book is a dark fantasy about childhood; indeed, Selick sees the story as almost a mirror image of that earlier work.

“Instead of a child going to this other world with a monstrous mother [like Coraline],” Selick told Variety, “it’s a monstrous mother who comes into our world to wreak havoc on a kid’s life.”

Although Selick first talked about adapting Gaiman’s book about two years ago,...

Henry Selick’s modern classic “Coraline” turns 15 this year, and a new 3D remaster of the stop-motion feature (announced in February) will get a worldwide theatrical release this fall by Fathom in the U.S and Trafalgar Releasing in the rest of the world.

Limited screenings will begin on August 15 and feature an early glimpse of Laika’s upcoming film, “Wildwood.” Ticket sales kick off on June 21. A 2D version of the film will also be available to exhibitors.

“Coraline”

In 2023, Fathom re-released the original version of “Coraline” in the U.S., which netted over $7 million at the box office, a record for the event-based distributor. The film is also screening in this year’s Annecy Classics program, marking a return to the French festival where it won the Cristal for a feature film in 2009.

“Coraline” was written by Neil Gaiman and Selick and stars voice actors Dakota Fanning, Ian McShane,...

10 Animated Shows And Movies That Blew Us Away At Netflix's Animation Presentation
Image
We're just a few days away from the premiere of "Ultraman: Rising" on Netflix, the latest addition to the ever-growing animation library of the streamer. Animation has been on shaky ground for the last few years, with the animation guild growing stronger to fight for fair contractions as creatives continue to battle against the dystopian threat of artificial intelligence. Fortunately, animation is still as popular and well-loved as ever, and Netflix has been absolutely crushing it as of late. Not only did the streamer pull in an Academy Award for Guillermo del Toro's "Pinocchio" in 2022, but shows like "Blue Eye Samurai," "Arcane," "Love, Death, & Robots," and movies like "Wendell & Wild," "The Sea Beast," and "The Mitchells vs. the Machines" are some of the best releases of original animation, period.

Today I was in attendance at the Next on Netflix: Animation event to preview their upcoming slate of animation,...

'Stopmotion' Review - Hand-Crafted Shudder Horror Film Is One of a Kind
Image
Though horror is often a place to discover movies that youve never seen before, it is hard to think of one that is quite like Robert Morgan's intriguing feature debut Stopmotion. Namely, this is because it draws upon the beauty of stop-motion animation to create something frequently terrifying. While there have certainly been prior works that make use of this technique to explore horror elements, whether it is the magnificent descent into darkness Mad God or the underrated more family-friendly flick Wendell & Wild, this one feels truly original in its presentation. Even as its narrative can be a bit derivative and familiar, the hand-crafted artistry on display is undeniable. Merge it with a spectacular performance from the great Aisling Franciosi, and you've got a darkly delightful yet still sinister work of horror.

Jordan Peele
Marlon Wayans to star in Goat
Jordan Peele
Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions is producing the psychological horror Goat, with Marlon Wayans in the lead.

This isn’t an unveiling of Jordan Peele’s next directorial outing for Universal, but here’s a story about an intriguing new project that will be produced under the filmmaker’s Monkeypaw banner.

Goat is set to star Marlon Wayans (who you can see pictured in the TV show Marlon) while Justin Tipping will direct. Tipping co-wrote and directed Kicks, another film (like last year’s Air) focused on the mythical status attached to basketball shoes.

In their upcoming project, the focus will be on a mythical athlete rather than their shoes, as ‘the film centres on an up-and-coming young athlete who is invited to train with a team’s retiring star, who will be played by Wayans.’

It hasn’t been announced yet who will play the rookie, but according to Deadline,...

Jordan Peele Teases Next Movie; “Psyched” to Have Another Idea That Could Become His Personal Favorite
Image
Jordan Peele burst onto the filmmaking scene back in 2017 with critical acclaim, box office success, and even a huge win at the Academy Awards, making Get Out one of the most promising debut features in the history of the horror genre. Peele proved he was the real deal with both Us in 2019 and later Nope in 2022, and he’s now hard at work on his fourth movie.

Universal Pictures recently bumped Jordan Peele’s untitled fourth movie from its original December 25, 2024 release date, and we haven’t been provided with a new date. The delay is due to last year’s SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, but Peele teases in a new chat with the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast that he’s excited to get back behind the camera this year.

“This has been…obviously, it’s been an interesting year because the writer’s strike had had me in a state of listening,...

'Transformers One' — Keegan-Michael Key Reveals How Bumblebee Sounds

Movie and he's now back with the Chris Meledandri studio for Migration. How Netflix Became the Unlikely King of Feature Animation
Image
Thanksgiving weekend featured an animation face-off between a titan of the industry, the 100-year-old Walt Disney Animation Studios, and a relative upstart, Netflix, which only started releasing its own animated features in 2019.

Disney’s holiday movie, “Wish,” was a musical extravaganza featuring the watercolor backgrounds of the studio’s past combined with cutting-edge CGI, while Netflix’s “Leo” was a more budget-conscious musical set in modern-day Florida.

It was a showdown of theatrical versus streaming, legacy studio versus blustery upstart, fairy tale versus contemporary storytelling. And the results were startling.

While “Wish” came in third at the box office with a disappointing $31.6 million, the Adam Sandler-starring “Leo” debuted to 34.6 million views (which is hours viewed divided by total runtime), according to Netflix, which in box office terms equaled a haul of around $500 million for its opening weekend, one insider with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap. “Leo” has been...

The People Under The Stairs Remake - Producers, Writer, And More Info
Image
Wes Craven's 1991 horror hit "The People Under The Stairs" evades easy description. It's a movie that's at once chaotic, insightful, campy, hilarious, horrifying, and weird as hell. There are images in the movie that are impossible to unsee, and ideas about race and capitalism that felt prescient in the '90s and are more relevant than ever now.

"The People Under The Stairs" has been overdue for a remake and it's only fitting that it's finally in the works courtesy of the new master of social commentary-filled thrillers, Jordan Peele. Peele's production company Monkeypaw is at work on an update to Craven's original, and while there's still a lot we don't know about "The People Under the Stairs," we're creeping into the shadows to bring you all the details we can on this fresh take on a very freaky story. Here's everything we know so far.

24 Best Claymation Movies Of All Time, Ranked
Image
Claymation movies require complex construction and time-consuming handcrafted work, but the end result is exceptional and charming. Aardman Studios and Laika are frontrunners in the claymation genre, producing masterpieces loved by audiences of all ages. Claymation films like "Pinocchio" and "Wendell & Wild" bring new approaches and unique storytelling to well-known tales, creating thought-provoking and visually stunning experiences.

Claymation movies feature an art style centered on the complex and creative construction of clay characters. Approached through stop-motion (though typical animation has been known to combine with claymation in certain situations), the style is unique and highly charming. This is also a time-consuming filmmaking endeavor, as the filmmakers have to make all the characters and sets by hand before filming them one frame at a time. Despite those things, there is no denying some exceptional films are grounded in Claymation.

Over the years, there have been people and studios that have...

30-Year-Old Halloween Classic Outgrosses Saw X & The Nun 2 This Weekend
Image
The Nightmare Before Christmas, a 1993 stop-motion animated musical, has earned more money at the box office this weekend than some recent horror movies, including Saw X and The Nun II. On the weekend of its 30th anniversary re-release, The Nightmare Before Christmas earned $4.1 million domestically, securing the 5th spot at the box office for the weekend. Despite being an older film, The Nightmare Before Christmas continues to captivate audiences and outperform contemporary horror titles.

The Nightmare Before Christmas has grossed higher than several new horror movies at the box office. The 1993 movie, which was directed by Henry Selick and produced by Tim Burton, is a stop-motion animated musical set in Halloween Town. It follows living skeleton Jack Skellington (Chris Sarandon), who discovers Christmas and vows to kidnap Santa Claus and take over the holiday with the help of his town's creepy denizens, including his rag doll love interest Sally (Catherine O'Hara...

10 Gothic Animated Movies To Watch If You Love Tim Burton
Image
Gothic animated films like "9" and "Coraline" share similarities with Tim Burton's distinct cinematic style, offering dark and surreal worlds with quirky protagonists. Tim Burton's impact on pop culture challenges traditional notions of heroes and blurs the line between reality and fantasy, as seen in films like "Corpse Bride." Other animated films like "Kubo and the Two Strings" and "Wendell & Wild" share similar themes and aesthetics with Tim Burton's work, making them must-watch films for fans of his unique style.

Gothic animated films like 9 and Coraline are guaranteed to please those who enjoy Tim Burton's filmography. While Burton has directed and produced several properties from different genres, it is difficult not to associate the director with a distinct, unique cinematic style. There are many animated films inspired by Burton's work, although there are also other great movies that borrow inspiration from the same works of art that once inspired Burton as well.

The Nightmare Before Christmas Director Addresses Tim Burton's Influence and Sequel Chances: "Why Mess With That?"
Image
Director Henry Selick reflects on the gradual rise in popularity of The Nightmare Before Christmas and how Disney initially had concerns about its horror elements. Disney eventually embraced the film's success and capitalized on its growing popularity through merchandise and themed attractions. Selick suggests that a potential sequel may not be necessary, but a prequel exploring Jack Skellington's backstory could be an intriguing idea that he and Tim Burton might consider.

In a recent interview with People celebrating the film’s 10th anniversary, director Henry Selick got candid about the gradual rise in popularity of his film The Nightmare Before Christmas, Tim Burton’s influence, and the possibility of a prequel film.

Before his spectacular stop-motion films like James and the Giant Peach, Coraline, and his latest Jordan Peele-produced Wendell & Wild, Selick’s claim to fame was his directorial debut with The Nightmare Before Christmas. The animated musical surrounds Jack Skellington,...

Every Jordan Peele Movie Ranked
Image
Jordan Peele wasn't always one of the greatest horror filmmakers in the world. First he was a prolific comedian, starring in five seasons of the late-night sketch comedy series "Mad TV," impersonating celebrities left and right. Then he created his own show with his fellow "Mad TV" alumni Keegan-Michael Key, appropriately titled "Key & Peele," and that show was a major comedy hit that's still actively memed to this day.

It made sense that, when Jordan Peele moved into the realm of movies, his first project was the phenomenally funny buddy comedy "Keanu." Peele co-wrote the screenplay and starred opposite Key as mild-mannered friends who have to step outside their comfort zone and into the world of violent crime in order to rescue their kidnapped, adorable kitten. Peele may not have directed it, but it's a delight, and established Peele as a force to be reckoned with in motion picture comedies as well as TV.
