Recently Netflix released the first season of 3 Body Problem, based on the book of the same name by Chinese science fiction writer Liu Cixin. This novel and its two sequels in the 2000s made Cixin the most popular author in his country.
With such fame, a movie adaptation was only a matter of time. The creators of Game of Thrones, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, took over the development of the adaptation.
3 Body Problem Was a Good Sci-Fi Show, But Not a Masterpiece
Before its release, there were many concerns about whether the series would be at least somewhat interesting: the book seemed too complicated, and Benioff and Weiss tarnished their reputations with the ending of Game of Thrones. 3 Body Problem turned out to be not perfect, but very exciting – a little rushed, but addictive from the first minutes.

The highly acclaimed Game of Thrones prequel, House of the Dragon surrounding the rise and fall of the Targaryen dynasty, has made waves with its great mix of action, drama, and fantasy, which appealed to a wide range of viewers. Further, adding an element of excitement alongside standout performances from Matt Smith and Emma D’Arcy, the spin-off featured legendary stories about great houses from George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood.

Standing side by side with House Targaryen, House of the Dragon focused on another family, the Velaryons, helmed by the Sea Snake, Corlys Velaryon, and his wife, Princess Rhaenys Targaryen. Turning them central to this story, House Velaryons is distinctly portrayed as a Black family. Although people assume this was done solely for the sake of inclusivity, this deliberate creative choice is actually more than just for a diverse cast.

Jeff Daniels as eternally glum police chief Del Harris returns for a widening murder conspiracy in the second-season trailer for American Rust: Broken Justice, which dropped Monday.
After the sudden, mysterious death of a former police officer in Pennsylvania’s rust belt in the rookie season is not quite solved by Harris, to say the least, the second-season trailer for American Rust: Broken Justice returns to the fictional town of Buell, where a compromised Del and Grace Poe (Maura Tierney) try to rebuild their lives.
That’s until the trailer reveals a series of unrelated murders that may add up to a much larger conspiracy closing in on a tight-knit town. “We never really do move on, do we?” Del questions at one point.
The fateful wrench from the first-season finale cover-up surfaces, as does Del fretting over how to protect the murder suspect and son of his sometimes girlfriend Grace.

Netflix has a lot of content on its virtual shelves, but it’s missing something so huge that it’s almost shocking.
They have no original medical drama for their subscribers.
Pulse will change all that.
Netflix announced today that Carlton Cuse and Zoe Robyn will team up for the new show, which already has its first star attached.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 3: Everything We Know
Justina Machado is the first person to join the cast as a series regular.
This isn’t Netflix’s first foray into the procedural space, although their procedurals tend to have season-long arcs.
The Lincoln Lawyer, The Diplomat, and The Night Agent all have touches of procedural dramas in them, even if they don’t focus on episodes of the week.
Whether Pulse falls more in line with what we know as procedural content or not remains to be seen.

Jeff Daniels and Maura Tierney drama American Rust is returning for its second season — on its third platform.
Amazon announced that the sophomore run — titled American Rust: Broken Justice — will premiere on its Prime Video platform rather than the previously announced ad-supported service Freevee. All 10 episodes of the season will debut in a binge drop on March 28.
The drama was originally developed for Showtime, which canceled the show after its first season aired. Freevee picked up American Rust for season 2 in June 2022, with the show now airing on the Amazon flagship service. With Amazon having formally added ads to its Prime Video platform, Freevee programming has been migrating to the larger Prime Video.
Season 2 follows Del Harris (Daniels) and Grace Poe (Tierney) as they try to rebuild their lives after the events of season 1. Season 2 picks up with a string of seemingly unrelated murders, hinting at a much larger conspiracy...

After media speculation about a dismembered body found on a beach in Queens on Friday, CNBC and other outlets, citing “police sources,” are saying the remains “may be” those of Emmy-winning Irish filmmaker Ross McDonnell, 44. Police have not yet publicly confirmed or denied those reports.
McDonnell has been missing since November 4, when he went for a bike ride in his Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. His bike was later found locked up at Fort Tilden Beach in Queens. That’s a mile or two away from Breezy Point Beach, where the headless and armless body was found on Friday.
McDonnell’s friends reportedly later found some of his clothes on the beach, and the thought is he might have gone swimming. A police source told the New York Daily News they believe the body was dismembered by the sharp rocks, waves and marine life over the past two weeks before it washed ashore.

Welcome to It’s a Hit! In this series, IndieWire speaks to creators and showrunners behind a few of our favorite television programs about the moment they realized their show was breaking big.
“House of the Dragon” is now well established as a record-breaking HBO success, but there was a time when that was not a given. Back in 2015, when “Game of Thrones” was still going strong, HBO knew it needed to prepare a follow-up to the franchise. Here’s how Ryan Condal went from the creator of a failed Pedro Pascal pilot to becoming the “House of the Dragon” showrunner and crafting a series packed with bloody action spectacle, sexy royal intrigue, and a new suite of engaging characters.
Back in 2013, when “Game of Thrones” was two seasons in, Ryan Condal had nothing to do with it. He was on location in Santa Fe with Pascal on would-be NBC pilot “The Sixth Gun,...

With the local fishing industry in decline, the townspeople where Oscar and Evelyn now live become fiercely divided as to whether or not to stake their futures on building a luxury hotel – which will surely bring in new jobs — or fight to keep things the way they have been there for generations.

After the successes of the "Guardians of the Galaxy" flicks, "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery," and "Knock at the Cabin," Dave Bautista has pretty much solidified himself as the greatest wrestler-turned-actor of the era. Like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and John Cena before him, Bautista was originally pigeonholed in tough guy roles because of his size before producers realized, "Hey, this guy is legitimately hilarious." Bautista has been showing off a wide range of acting talent for years now, including holding his own in the 'charismatic action star meets cute kid' formula on display in "My Spy."
The action comedy was released in 2020 to less-than-stellar reviews, but according to Variety, "My Spy" was the third most-watched film on SVOD the year of release. With Bautista's star being pushed to the stratosphere, it's no surprise Prime Video was interested in a sequel. What is a surprise, however, is how the...

Prime Video has secured the return of Dave Bautista (Knock at the Cabin), Chloe Coleman (Avatar: The Way of Water), Kristen Schaal (What We Do in the Shadows), Ken Jeong (The Afterparty) and others for their My Spy sequel, My Spy: The Eternal City. Among the new additions to the ensemble in the second installment are Anna Faris (Mom), Craig Robinson (The Office) and Flula Borg (Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin).
An action-comedy from STXfilms that Prime Video picked up for release amidst the theatrical shutdown of the Covid pandemic, My Spy told the story of JJ (Bautista), a hardened CIA operative who found himself at the mercy of precocious nine-year-old Sophie (Coleman), after being sent undercover to surveil her family. Schaal played JJ’s tech specialist colleague Bobbi, with Jeong as his boss, David.

Anna Faris, Craig Robinson and Flula Borg are joining the “My Spy” franchise, with all three comedy vets signing up for “My Spy: The Eternal City” at Amazon Studios.
Director Pete Segal is returning to helm the sequel, which reunites franchise stars Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman alongside scene-stealers Kristen Schaal and Ken Jeong.

The first season of "House of the Dragon" has come to a close in a predictably brutal way. The "Game of Thrones" sequel series has shown in its first batch of episodes that it has inherited many of the strengths and habits of its predecessor, from the morally gray characters to the rich and deep world in which it takes place.
As the show heads toward its second season, it's natural for many to worry that it could also inherit the worst traits "Game of Thrones" developed as it went on. The original series was extremely good until it suddenly wasn't, when the showrunners overtook the source material of author George R.R. Martin and rushed the story towards a conclusion. A show with gigantic potential was unable to stick the landing.

Science fiction television is one of the hardest genres to master in the industry. Sci-fi that focuses on alien invasions is even more difficult because of the intense scrutiny from the audience who has a specific vision for what it would look like in the real world. When a great sci-fi show is released, it’s often too expensive to survive or doesn’t receive the patience it deserves.
USA Network’s Colony fits a lot of these descriptions. Starring longtime genre TV actors Josh Holloway (Lost) and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead), the show was a great look into the life of a family just trying to survive the aftermath of an invasion by aliens we never really learn fully about. This is because the show was intended to go five seasons by its creator, House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan J. Condal. It was unfortunately canceled after only three.

The “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” series at Disney+ has added three new actors to its cast, Variety has learned exclusively.

“House of the Dragon” had an incredibly high bar to clear. Not only was it following in the footsteps of the juggernaut that was “Game of Thrones,” but in contrast to other TV sequels or spinoffs, this prequel had zero character crossover beyond the Targaryen name. It’s an all-new cast of characters in a very different Westeros, and getting viewers to care about that was not a given.
And yet, HBO’s “House of the Dragon” is a massive success. In addition to widespread critical acclaim, it debuted to 9.99 million viewers on its first night — the largest single-day debut for a series in HBO Max history. And that success both critically and commercially is due to the innovative creative decisions made by showrunner and co-creator Ryan Condal and his team.

“House of the Dragon” co-creator and showrunner Ryan Condal is extending his relationship with HBO and has renewed his overall deal, Variety has confirmed.
The agreement comes on the heels of “House of the Dragon’s” success among viewers. The writer first inked the overall deal with HBO in 2020 following the announcement of “House of the Dragon’s” straight-to-series order. In addition to serving as a writer, he also worked as an executive producer and co-showrunner on Season 1 alongside director Miguel Sapochnik. For Season 2, Condal was elevated to sole showrunner.

Over a decade after the 2010 “Lost” finale, and star Ken Leung is ready for a spinoff.
The “Industry” actor said that a spinoff concept was pitched for his character Miles and Josh Holloway’s fan favorite Sawyer following the supernatural events of the original series.
“I know there was an idea being kicked around where Miles and Sawyer would have a ‘True Detective-style’ spinoff, but that would be so much its own thing that it wouldn’t feel like continuing ‘Lost,'” Leung told The Independent when asked if he would return for a follow-up series. “But on the face of it, sure. There’s nothing about ‘Lost’ where it’s like, ‘I never wanna do that again.’ So yeah, maybe.”
Leung continued, “I would love to go back to Hawaii. When I think of ‘Lost,’ I don’t think of the show as much as I think of Hawaii.

HBO launches its first “Game of Thrones” spinoff this Sunday, and the “House of the Dragon” prequel series showrunners know there’s a lot at stake.
The new fantasy drama, which takes place about 200 years before the world of “Thrones,” and the birth of Daenerys Targaryen, boasts “GoT” universe author George R.R. Martin as co-creator with Ryan Condal (“Colony”). Both serve as executive producers alongside “GoT” alum Miguel Sapochnik, who directs and serves as a co-showrunner with Condal.
Based on Martin’s bestseller “Fire & Blood,” the show will look back to a time when the Targaryens ruled Westeros.
There’s an impressive team behind the show, and they are aware that expectations are higher than for other freshman shows. In fact, “House of the Dragon” wasn’t the first “GoT” spinoff that HBO tried to kick-start.

When House of the Dragon first premieres on Aug. 21 on HBO, Game of Thrones fans should find a lot of it quite familiar. Just like the flagship series upon which it’s spun off from, House of the Dragon is a big endeavor. The show features a sprawling cast of King’s Landing schemers, tons of twists and turns, and more dragons than the side of a 1970s panel van.
If anything, House of the Dragon could end up feeling as epic or more so than Game of Thrones despite adapting a smaller section of George R.R. Martin’s source material. Interestingly enough, however, the showrunner behind it originally had a much smaller, more intimate vision of Martin’s Westeros.
House of the Dragon showrunner Ryan Condal (formerly of Colony and Rampage) has a lengthy history with George R.R. Martin’s epic novels.
