When Emilia Clarke Said That The Avengers Movies Were Silly & Then Joined The MCU With Marvel’s Secret Invasion( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Emilia Clarke is not an unknown name. She became popular as Game of Thrones’ Khaleesi, aka Daenerys Targaryen. She became a household name because of the gory HBO series based on George Rr Martin’s works. She recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, aka MCU, with Secret Invasion, but a few years before the Marvel series, the actress made a not-so-likable comment about Marvel movies, such as the Avengers films. Scroll below for more.
Clarke appeared in the leading role in the miniseries Secret Invasion. She plays Gi’ah, daughter of Talos, who works for Gravik [leader of rebel Skrulls], but things change by the end of the series. The show did not get such a good response from the fans. The critics rated it 52% on Tomatometer, and the Audience Score is 46% overall on Rotten Tomatoes.

As George Miller’s oil and blood-fuelled Furiosa hits the screens, we ponder what makes a great prequel.
Mild spoilers for The First Omen.
There are a lot of bad prequels. There are some good prequels, but a great prequel is a rare thing to come across. They’re like a rare animal, the unicorns of cinema. Some wonder if such a thing even exists, but when you do watch one, it’s really rather something.
George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga might just be one, a prequel which somehow manages to justify its existence and repeat the exhilarating sense of time and place as Mad Max: Fury Road. I’d be surprised if we saw another action film as handsomely made as Furiosa in 2024. Or 2025. Or 2026.
Prequels are an easy sell for studios, but a hard sell for audiences. For studios, they’re an easy way...

To say that this Memorial Day weekend was a disappointment at the box office would be a grave understatement. Warner Bros. unleashed director George Miller's "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" in theaters, while Sony Pictures released the family-friendly "The Garfield Movie." On paper, we had a much-anticipated (or so we thought) prequel to "Mad Max: Fury Road," which is one of the most beloved action movies of all time, as well as an animated movie that could get parents out of the house with their kids. In practice, we endured a truly sobering several days' worth of lousy ticket sales.
"Furiosa" topped the charts with a $26.3 million haul through Sunday, with that number growing to $32 million when accounting for the Monday holiday. "Garfield" came in a close second with $24 million over the weekend and $31.1 million through Monday. Both of those numbers were well below industry projections, with "Furiosa" failing...

Glen Powell may be blowing up thanks to roles in Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You, but like any other actor, he struggled on his way to the top and lost out on some major roles, including Han Solo in Solo: A Star Wars Story.
While chatting with GQ UK, Glen Powell spoke of coming “agonizingly” close to playing Han Solo, only to drop the ball at the last moment. “I can joke about it now,” he said, “[but] I blew that final audition.” The role ultimately went to Alden Ehrenreich, but with Powell’s charisma, you can see why Disney was interested in him in the first place. The actor also said he screwed up auditions for Captain America and Cowboys & Aliens over the years, but he’s accepted that it just wasn’t meant to be.

Glen Powell is arguably one of the most bankable young actors in Hollywood right now, who isn’t looking to slow down anytime soon. Since rising to stardom after playing Hangman in Top Gun: Maverick, Powell has continued to spread his acting chops across various genres, which includes the rom-com Anyone but You, which became a smash hit.
Recently, the actor also joined forces with a former commanding officer of The Blue Angels to make a documentary following his love for aviation. But despite his career’s immense growth in the last few years, Powell is no stranger to setbacks, as after starring in one of the biggest movies of 2022, the actor missed out on one of the biggest hits of 2023.

Glen Powell's star is on the rise. After wowing moviegoers with Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You, he'll take centre stage this summer in Hit Man and Twisters. Surely a superhero role is next?
You'd think so, but as GQ points out in a new profile on the actor, "Powell has no interest in playing a superhero." This comes after we recently learned he's also not interested in "Marvel fare."
Taking a journalist on a tour of the Warner Bros. lot, Powell pointed out the new Superman logo on the door of James Gunn's office. However, he wasn't among the actors who tried out for the Dcu's new Man of Steel.
"But I was on the set of Twisters with [newly-anointed Clark Kent] David Corenswet when he got the call," he reveals. "He’s a hustler and he deserves it."

This weekend, the box office looked more like a Wasteland than the fruitful Green Place of Many Mothers.
“Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” underperformed in its box office debut with $25.6 million between Friday and Sunday and an estimated $31 million through Memorial Day on Monday. Instead of ruling the box office as expected, it’s in a shockingly close race for first place with Sony’s animated “The Garfield Movie,” which collected $24.8 million over the weekend and an estimated $31 million through the four days. Neither could salvage the holiday weekend, which is the worst it’s been in nearly three decades.
It wasn’t just domestic audiences that failed to show up for “Furiosa.” The fifth entry in director George Miller’s post-apocalyptic series, starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth, is stalling at the international box office with $33.3 million from 75 territories, bringing its worldwide tally to $58.9 million. Memorial Day weekend is upon us, and the box office is looking grim. The “Mad Max” prequel “Furiosa” is on track to score the lowest No. 1 Memorial Day weekend in nearly three decades, since 1998’s “Casper,” with an estimated $31 million take. But traditionally, the holiday weekend is a big one for moviegoing – kids are out of school, adults have three days off and the summer movie season is ready to roll.
For that reason, it feels like a good time to look back at the highest-grossing Memorial Day weekend box office openings of all time, dating back to 1996. Now it’s important to note these are Memorial Day weekend openings not Memorial Day weekend box office champions – “The Day After Tomorrow” pulled in over $85 million when it opened in 2004, but the top film at the box office for the holiday weekend was holdover “Shrek 2.”

The early box office results are in over at Deadline, and oh boy, are they dire or what? As of right now, George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga seems poised to win the weekend by a razor’s edge, with it on track for a three-day gross in the range of $27-28 million and about $31 million for the four-day Memorial Day weekend. The Garfield Movie is right behind with $24 million, with Deadline predicting that it could theoretically win the four-day weekend thanks to matinees on Monday. It is set to make $30-32 million over the holiday. We had predicted $40 million for Furiosa and $35 million for Garfield.
It has to be said, the box office take this Memorial Day weekend is an all-out disaster. How bad is it? Whichever movie wins, Furiosa or The Garfield Movie, the winner will have the lowest Memorial Day gross for a movie in...

It’s a bit of a wasteland out there for theaters this summer, as Memorial Day weekend is closing out a very underwhelming May on a down note. Warner Bros.’ “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” is projected to open well short of the industry’s prior estimates for a $40 million-plus bow over the four-day window. The high-budget action epic is practically neck-and-neck for first place over Sony’s animated adaptation “The Garfield Movie” on domestic charts.
The fireball “Mad Max” prequel sputtered to $10.2 million from 3,804 locations across Friday and preview screenings. It’s got Imax and other premium large-format auditoriums to bolster its ticket sales, too. It’s another tough underperformance this summer. The film’s 2015 predecessor “Mad Max: Fury Road” got to $16 million in its opening day. That movie also put together an impressive awards season run and got canonized by action genre fans. Who has not felt the sting of a missed opportunity, especially when you have come so close to your big break? For O’Shea Jackson Jr., the brush with a galaxy far, far away was definitely a bitter pill to swallow—one that the fandom of both Star Wars and the actor can empathize with.

Earlier this year, moreover, his candidness about the disappointment of losing a coveted role in Ron Howard’s 2018 film Solo: A Star Wars Story to Donald Glover was as relatable as it was commendable.

The video sets the scene for a mysterious war being waged against the Jedi as dark secrets about the past emerge. An earlier trailer released in March (watch below) first introduced us to the characters of Mae, Master Sol and Master Indara — respectively played by Amandla Stenberg (The Eddy), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game) and Carrie-Anne Moss (Marvel’s Jessica Jones) — and offered a peek of the Wookiee Jedi named Kelnacca (Solo: A Star Wars Story...

The much-derided film returns to cinemas for its 25th anniversary. Once a rare blot on the galactic landscape, these days it’s far from the only stinker in the canon
Can it really be that there are Star Wars fans who see George Lucas’s Episode I – The Phantom Menace, once considered the emblem of everything that went wrong with the long-running space saga, as a bona fide classic ripe for rehabilitation 25 years on? As the much-derided 1999 film returns to cinemas this weekend, there are rumblings in the ether that millennials, and perhaps those even younger, are completely unaware of just how much of a disaster it was. Then again, perhaps those of us who remember its debut in cinemas should be prepared to listen to voices from a new generation. Was it really so bad after all?

Emilia Clarke is effortlessly one of the most beloved actresses in Hollywood, with her acting chops, beauty, wit, and personality — all leaving her audiences truly stunned. Among all the roles she has donned to date across multiple genres, her most acclaimed performance still remains her iconic portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, which also gifted her most of her fame.
Emilia Clarke in Secret Invasion.
However, even after achieving that impeccable feat through the novels-based television series, Clarke was quite a bit dissatisfied with it for a peculiar reason. And, surprisingly enough, this reason wasn’t related to the controversial ending of the series — which notably saw her character getting murdered at the hands of her very own lover, Jon Snow — but for another reason entirely.

Fortnite‘s roster of crossover characters already comprises lots of well-known figures from the Star Wars universe. Fans of the mega-popular battle royale can play as characters like Anakin Skywalker, Darth Vader, Ahsoka Tano, and many more by way of previous collaborations.
However, Epic is gearing up for the game’s biggest Star Wars update yet, which is slated to release on May 3. Huge as the update may be, the recent announcement of a certain character has incited lukewarm reactions from fans: Lando Calrissian.

Lando first appeared in the 1980 film The Empire Strikes Back as an old friend of Han Solo. Despite initially appearing helpful, Lando ultimately betrays Han and Leia to Darth Vader in exchange for the safety of Cloud City, a floating metropolis he governs.

‘Unsung Hero’ Review: The Family That Prays Together, Plays Together in Uplifting Faith-Based Biopic
The heartrending hook behind “Unsung Hero” isn’t solely discovering how one tight knit family birthed two chart-topping contemporary Christian musical acts, although that is an interesting draw. It’s not necessarily learning how the Aussie expats survived a slew of hardships through togetherness and fortitude. The fascinating angle it adopts is similar to the way Steven Spielberg explored a tumultuous time in his childhood with “The Fablemans,” as Joel Smallbone (who co-wrote and directed with Richard L. Ramsey) also engages with family history, portraying his father grappling with financial and personal crises. The co-directors re-contextualize character-building circumstances, crafting a soul-stirring testament to the power of family and faith in the process.
David Smallbone (Joel Smallbone) is at the top of his game in early 1991. He’s got a great support system at work as one of Australia’s top Christian artist concert promoters, luring in such performers as the heavy metal hair band Stryper.

Despite all the changes and shifts that happened in Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy has managed to “survive” as the president of the company and she is still running the Star Wars franchise in collaboration with Disney, despite many negative comments on her work, as well as some of the recent Star Wars projects. And while Kennedy is certainly responsible for a lot of the franchise’s successes, she has also been blamed for a lot of the failures.
Kennedy is known for voicing her opinion, and her opinions have often been subject to criticism as well, but this has not stopped her from speaking out. Not so long ago, the president of Lucasfilm talked about the issue of recasting popular roles, and from what we can understand, she is not a big fan of the practice.

Not everyone anticipated that George Lucas’ space opera, which tells the story of characters’ adventures from ‘A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away’, would even be a hit before it was released in 1977. Significantly, even after more than 40 years, Star Wars would continue to rank among the most celebrated franchises in popular culture.
For a long time, fans have been enthralled by Star Wars movies; nevertheless, not every flick in the franchise has been well-received by critics or has done well at the box office. There have been highs and lows, which is pretty much inevitable, even though the best of the movies are undeniably classics.

Young actor and musician Donald Glover, also known by his musician stage name Childish Gambino, is one of the most prominent names of Hollywood’s younger (not youngest!) generation. The actor and musician made his career in 30 Rock when he was just 23, after which he had successful appearances in the Community and Atlanta. He also appeared in several movies, including The Lazarus Effect, Magic Mike Xxl, The Martian, as well as Solo: A Star Wars Story, where he played the young Lando Calrissian.
Aside from his personal appearances, Glover has done a lot of voice work as well, including voicing Simba in the CGI version of The Lion King. He also appeared as Aaron Davis (Uncle Aaron) in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse; reprising his live-action cameo from the Spider-Man: Homecoming, although it was a minor live-action role in both of these movies.

Star Wars Outlaws has the potential of being the greatest game set in a galaxy far, far away and Ubisoft is making great use of existing branches of storylines and characters that would later play out in the game. Cameos are now the ultimate fan service but the narrative director justifies their presence in the grander story.
Jabba the Hutt was a popular character in the original trilogy that caused problems for the main heroes and the setting of this game is right in between the height of the Galactic Civil War which could indicate more guest appearances.

Disney's theme parks launched new experiences for their original "Star Wars" ride this week. Star Tours: The Adventures Continue is the second iteration of the attraction that originally opened at Disneyland Park in 1987. The first version of the ride was a consistent experience that put audiences inside a motion-simulated ship piloted by a droid voiced by Paul Reubens. The ride took park-goers right into the middle of a Death Star attack and was unlike anything anyone had ever seen. An ever-popular attraction, it was updated in May of 2011 to its current iteration. Instead of a single movie ride, new technology allowed Lucasfilm and Disney Imagineers to randomize the process. Now, with the updated system, your voyages could be randomized and it was easy for new updates to be made.
As new movies in the Skywalker Saga were subsequently released, new locations were added to the ride. "The Force Awakens" brought Jakku to Star Tours,...

Spoilers for "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" Season 3 Episode 12 "Juggernaut" follow.
The third and final season of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch" moves on, this time bringing us back to the original status quo of the season. In the epic previous episode, Omega sacrificed herself to prevent the utter destruction of their paradise refuge of Pabu, and the Empire takes her right back to Mount Tantiss. Desperate to find Omega and stop the Empire's experiments once and for all, the Bad Batch looks for any lead they can in order to find the location of the secret facility.
That brings them back to Admiral Rampart, who was arrested in earlier seasons as a scapegoat for the genocidal destruction of Kamino. He was sent to an Imperial labor camp, which offers a pretty neat, direct tie to "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story."

Famously known as a leading man in action movies, the Tom Cruise Western Far and Away movie is the only time the actor has worked in the genre. The 1992 epic Western romantic drama was directed by Ron Howard. Like Tom Cruise, Far and Away was Howard’s first Western project. However, unlike Cruise, Howard later directed two movies (The Missing and Solo: A Star Wars Story) in the genre. Ron Howard and Canadian screenwriter and filmmaker Bob Dolman developed Far and Away‘s story and screenplay. This post contains minor spoilers for "Solo: A Star Wars Story."
Every "Star Wars" fan knows about Han Solo's not-so-humble boast about the Millenium Falcon, a ship that purportedly "made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs." Although this sounds cool, it is a rather vague descriptor that is challenging to visualize. After all, a parsec is a unit of distance, not time, where one parsec is roughly equivalent to 3.26 light years. Even without diving into the scientific nuances of the concept, it is understandable why Solo's claims became a topic for debate and discussion, giving rise to fascinating theories over the years. However, "Solo: A Star Wars Story" effectively answers all our questions about the Kessen Run discourse by approaching Han's boast in ways that are interesting and grounded in practicality.

Remember "Solo: A Star Wars Story"? Sure you do! It was the second "Star Wars" anthology film — that is, a film set outside the main "Star Wars" Skywalker Saga timeline — following "Rogue One," and its less-than-great reception essentially killed off the idea of Disney doing new anthology films. Instead, the studio stuck with finishing out the Skywalker Saga in a disappointing fashion and then shifted to a bevy of Disney+ shows (some of which are soon to make the jump from the small to the big screen).

After a triumphant time in the 2010s, things are uncertain at the Walt Disney Company right now. With audience interest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe fading and "Star Wars" having become a primarily streaming franchise, there's a feeling that the company may have carelessly set fire to its money trees.
Disney's changing leadership suggests it won't be staying the course. In 2022, former Disney CEO Bob Iger resumed his post from Bob Chapek, a simultaneous vote of no confidence in his successor yet a stamp of approval for Iger's own tenure (he first served as Disney CEO from 2005 to 2020). Since his return, Iger has implicitly criticized Chapek's decision to go all-in on Disney+ originals, spreading the company's main offerings (Marvel and Pixar especially) too thin.

Star Wars fans haven’t seen Lando Calrissian – that is, the Billy Dee Williams version – on the big screen in five years. But will we ever again? With so many Star Wars projects on the horizon, it’s possible that Lando could turn up in some corner of the galaxy…But would Williams ever don the cape again? Sure – provided you show him the dough.
As Billy Dee Williams told Radio Times on any potential return to the character, “Pay me a lot of money and I’ll sell my soul.” As portrayed by Williams, Lando Calrissian first appeared in 1980’s The Empire Strikes Back, a former friend of Han Solo’s and one-time owner of the Millennium Falcon, the lore of which would be explored later in the Star Wars saga. Billy Dee Williams had lunch with his 'Star Wars' successor Donald Glover and told him to "be charming" when playing Lando Calrissian. The 86-year-old actor originated the role of the smooth-talking smuggler in 'The Empire Strikes Back' and reprised the role in follow-up film 'Return of the Jedi' while Glover took over the role in spin-off film 'Solo: A Star Wars Story' and will be back as Landro in a new movie based around the character. Now Billy has revealed the pair sat down together over lunch to discuss Lando, telling Radio Times: "I had a nice little lunch with him. He’s a delightful young man. Extremely talented."But I don’t see him … I mean, when it comes to Lando Calrissian there’s only one Lando Calrissian. Billy Dee Williams originated the Lando Calrissian character in the Star Wars universe and would not mind reprising the role in future projects if they make a good monetary offer.
In a recent interview, the actor who first played Lando in the 1980 film The Empire Strikes Back is opening up about what it would take for him to return to a galaxy far, far away.
“Pay me a lot of money, and I’ll sell my soul,” Williams told Radio Times magazine about portraying Lando again.
Williams reprised the Lando role in 1983’s Return of the Jedi and most recently in 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. A younger version of the character appeared in the prequel Solo: A Star Wars Story, with Donald Glover taking on the role.
“He’s part of a whole new generation. He’ll create whatever he needs to create, to bring appeal to the character.

Christopher Walken can currently be seen as the Emperor of the Known Universe in "Dune: Part Two," but once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away, the quirky actor had a chance to appear in another huge sci-fi epic. As Walken himself recently told Vanity Fair, he auditioned for the role of Han Solo in the first "Star Wars" film, aka "Star Wars: A New Hope." Of course, Walken didn't get the part — and it's hard to imagine anyone other than Harrison Ford playing the loveable rogue.
To hear Walken tell it, he auditioned for the part along with a wealth of other actors, so it's not clear how close he came to actually landing the role of Han Solo. In other words, lots of people were being considered for the film, and Walken was just one name of many on a list of auditioning actors. But interestingly enough,...

Billy Dee Williams’s Lando Calrissian is iconic, to say the least. The actor brought a level of flair and charm to the smuggler, playing the role many times in the Star Wars franchise. While there is no way to replicate how iconic his performance was, Donald Glover managed to add his own essence to the character when he played a younger version of him in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

While the 2018 film did not do that well with audiences, Calrissian’s character came out soaring and Glover managed to bag a solo project. Since then, however, there have been many speedbumps that have hampered its production. That was, until now.
