“I lived to tell the tale.”
On “Killing Eve,” not many can boast as much after a violent run-in with the assassin Villanelle (Jodie Comer). But for now, actor Henry Lloyd-Hughes can say his character Aaron Peel survives —albeit with a very bloody nose — after Sunday’s episode.
This season, “Killing Eve” introduces the idea of a different kind of threat, one that doesn’t operate as boldly and colorfully as Villanelle does. Aaron enters the picture after his father, the owner of tech giant Pharaday UK, is suspiciously murdered. When MI6 investigates, they suspect Aaron of patricide (through a paid assassin) and then hire Villanelle to go undercover as “Billie” to sniff out more information.
IndieWire spoke with Lloyd-Hughes about playing the enigmatic new character who’s created so much havoc but kept his hands visibly clean. “There’s a real kind of tangible sense of someone who is complex,...

Now known throughout the city as The Punisher, he must discover the truth about injustices that affect more than his family alone.
The Punisher sees Jon Bernthal return as Frank Castle having already made an appearance as the character in Marvel’s Daredevil. A new trailer for Marvel/Netflix's latest superhero series, The Punisher, has dropped! While we never get tired of seeing Frank Castle on the warpath, this trailer shows us something we hadn't seen yet, a release date.
Netflix has graced us with yet another bloody trailer for Marvel's The Punisher series. The previous few gave us a good idea at how brutal the series was going to be, but today's gave us two things we hadn't had yet. A little bit of exposition and an official release date.
November 17, while great that it's close, feels like a missed opportunity on Netflix's part. If they had released the series a week earlier, on the 10th, they'd have released it on the Marine Corp. birthday. Considering Frank Castle was a former Marine, this would've been very timely.
Nevertheless, the Marine Corp. will get to eat their cake on 10th and have it...

Netflix has just released the full trailer for Marvel's The Punisher, and holy freakin' shit! This series looks insanely great! This first trailer is powerful, brutal, and awesome. I can't wait to see this series! It looks like it could be the best of the Netflix Marvel series so far. Just wait until you watch this trailer! There's no way Marvel and Disney would have given us a film that is as hardcore as this series looks. This is going to be the proper adaptation that The Punisher deserves.

Netflix has released a collection of photos from Marvel's upcoming series The Punisher featuring Frank Castle, Karen Page, and several other characters. With every new thing I see from the series, it's hard not to get excited! Frank Castle is just such a badass character and I'm excited to see the story that this solo series will tell. One thing is for certain... it's going to be badass!

A semi-digestible collation of stew and sauerkraut, Irish-German comedy Halal Daddy never quite cuts close enough to the funny bone. Very loosely based on a true story, this genially larkish but undercooked tale of a Muslim-run slaughterhouse on the Emerald Isle's stunning Atlantic coast premiered to mixed reactions at Edinburgh days before a tepid opening in Ireland. Suitable mainly for TV and downloads, despite its widescreen lensing, this is a well-meaning slice of Europudding that fritters away the talents of several appealing players.

Brian Cox portrays Winston Churchill in a dramatization of the events just prior to the D-Day invasion of France by Allied forces during World War II in Churchill. Directed Jonathan Teplitzky (The Railway Man, BBC’s Indian Summers television series) from a script by historian Alex Von Tunzelmann, Churchill aims to get beneath the usual familiar image of Churchill as a gruff, cigar-chewing British bulldog to create a fuller human portrait of the man who grappled with deep depression and fears of failure while leading his country through its darkest hours.
It is an admirable aim but unfortunately the film falls far short of its goal. Led by an overheated performance by Cox, Churchill stages a last-minute attempt to stop the 1944 Normandy Invasion, gripped with fear that it would fail. Less than a week before D-Day,...

Set to release on April 7th, City of Tiny Lights starring Riz Ahmed and Billie Piper is a unique portrait of contemporary London as a teeming multicultural metropolis where nothing is as it seems.
Meet Tommy Akhtar (Riz Ahmed), cricket fan, devoted son to an ailing father and deadbeat private eye. He’s got an office above a cab firm, a taste for cigarettes and bourbon, and a finely tuned moral compass that he keeps hidden behind a sharp cynicism. When Tommy walks into his office one morning to find high-class prostitute Melody seeking his help, he’s launched into a story that plays as an utterly original modern noir. He’s drawn into a murder investigation and a dangerous criminal underworld where he will discover dark secrets from his own past

After a major last year with The Night Of, Rogue One, and Jason Bourne this year, Riz Ahmed also brought a few films to Tiff. One of them was City of Tiny Lights, which comes from Dredd‘s Pete Travis, and follows Ahmed as a London detective who gets entangled in a missing-girl case as a complex web of lies bubble up. With the film picked up for U.K. distribution this April, the first neon-soaked trailer has now arrived.
We said in our review, “Ahmed shines in the lead role: something this charismatic actor has deserved since the wonderfully funny Four Lions. He embodies the hard-edged street-wise detective well without erasing the sense of empathy his characters always possess. We see the struggle endured between those worlds and know how Shelley’s leaving widened the void in his soul that Stuart’s death tore open. People like him from Mrs.

Film Bazaar: Experts warn not to rush into plans for a national film tax incentive.
India shouldn’t rush into the ultra competitive world of film finance incentives, experts said at a Film Facilitation Office (Ffo) workshop yesterday.
“We’re not thinking about incentives right now, you’ve got to get your ground beneath your feet first,” said Vikramjit Roy, head of India’s new Film Facilitation Office. “Once we create a film friendly environment the second step will be incentives. We don’t want to rush things.”
Uday Singh [pictured], MD of the India chapter of the MPAA bemoaned the fact that even some Indian productions were leaving the country because “it’s cheaper to make films abroad than here.” Even India-set British TV show Indian Summers shot in Malaysia because of the 30% incentive there.
“It’s a competitive market,” Singh added, noting that India would never be able to match something like Fiji’s 47% rebate on local...
