Damson Idris (“F1”) and Anamaria Vartolomei (“Mickey 17”) are set to star in “Miles & Juliette,” a Paris-film by Bill Pohlad (“Love & Mercy”). The pair will star opposite Canadian filmmaker and actor Xavier Dolan (“Matthias & Maxime”).

Written by Pulitzer Prize finalist Zora Howard (“Premature”), “Miles & Juliette” tells the story of 22-year-old Miles Davis (Idris) on a transformative trip to Paris in 1949, where he falls into a passionate romance with Juliette Gréco (Vartolomei), the French singer, actress, and Left Bank icon. “What begins as an intimate affair blossoms into a profound connection between two young artists—just before they became cultural legends,” the synopsis reads.

Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas’s Film ‘Deeper’ Reportedly Put on Hold
Image
The upcoming film Deeper, starring Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas, has reportedly been put on hold. Directed by Doug Liman, the movie had already been given the green light, and both Cruise and de Armas were in London recently, rehearsing for their roles.

According to Daniel Richtman, who shared the news on his Patreon, the reason behind the delay is related to the Trump tariffs. These tariffs have raised concerns, making it difficult for the production to move forward as planned.

Fans were looking forward to seeing the chemistry between Cruise and de Armas on screen, especially after reports of their time together in London. However, it looks like the project will have to wait until the issues are resolved.

There has been no official statement from the production team or the actors about the delay. Fans are hoping that the situation will be resolved soon so that filming can continue.

‘Rust’ Review: Defined by Tragedy, Alec Baldwin’s Cursed Western Offers Halyna Hutchins’ Story a Small but Necessary Sense of Closure
Image
When cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was inadvertently shot and killed by a live round on the set of “Rust” in October of 2021, it seemed unfathomable to me that production would ever be completed — let alone that I would be tasked with reviewing the finished product one day.

“Twilight Zone: The Movie” and “The Crow” were both released in spite of similar tragedies, but that was before the internet had so thoroughly flattened every film into the context of its own creation. The horror took on a life of its own when second assistant camerawoman Sarah Jones was fatally struck by a freight train on the first day of filming “Midnight Rider” in February 2014, and the Facebook group that crew members started to oppose resuming the shoot had swelled to more than 10,000 members by April of that year.

And what happened on the set of “Rust” caused such an instant firestorm that...

Tom Cruise at an event for Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
Six years have passed since Tom Cruise announced that the seventh and eighth films in the Mission: Impossible franchise would be shot back-to-back, and he has been in production on these films for a long time. We saw Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning back in 2024, and now the follow-up, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, is almost ready to make its way out into the world, heading toward a May 23rd release date. This is a huge release for Paramount Pictures, so of course they focused on it in a major way during their panel at the CinemaCon event, showing attendees a new trailer.

Cruise was in attendance for the panel and got his appearance started by leading a moment of silence to honor his late Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick co-star Val Kilmer. JoBlo’s Chris Bumbray reports, “Tom Cruise showed up in person and the exhibitors went nuts.

“They will know who I am”: Tom Cruise Became Famous Among Indigenous People With No Electricity in 1 Night
Image
Tom Cruise is one of the most revered movie stars in the world. People have sung praises about the actor and those who worked with him have nothing but great words for the actor. Cruise and director Doug Liman collaborated on both Edge of Tomorrow and American Made. Liman recalled an instance where he truly recognized the star power of Cruise.

Liman shared that Cruise was able to make indigenous people in a remote part of Columbia into his fans. It was a truly fascinating moment for the director as he initially told Cruise that none of the people there might recognize him as a movie star.

It is possible for Cruise and Liman to team for a third time. In January 2024, Cruise struck a contractual partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures. THR reported that the WB heads, Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy,...

“One false step and he’s gone”: ‘Logan’ Director Almost Killed Tom Cruise During 1 Stunt That Looked Much Safer Than Mission Impossible

Tom Cruise has done it all: dangling off planes, scaling skyscrapers, and riding motorcycles straight into danger. But leave it to Logan director James Mangold to nearly send him to the great action star afterlife during a stunt that looked way too chill to be deadly. No helicopters, no explosions, just one tiny misstep away from disaster.

While Cruise is usually the guy who laughs in the face of danger, even he probably broke a sweat on this one.

Tom Cruise comes with a lot of expectations and responsibilities attached to his name. The actor, who has made himself out to be a modern-day legend simply on the back of blockbuster action movies, is an A-lister for a reason. For a long time, Cruise has known exactly which path to take in order to be a star with unmatched glory.

In the years since his Top Gun fame, Cruise has given the industry a taste of every genre and the variable range of his innate skills in acting. From dangerous and charismatic in Interview With the Vampire to a psychotic assassin in Collateral, from a comical antagonist in Tropic Thunder to a cowardly time traveler in Edge of Tomorrow – he has done it all.

“I see the film as a patriotic film”: Tom Cruise’s ‘Anti-Top Gun’ Movie Director Considers it American That Showed the Dark Side of the CIA
Image
When it comes to renowned director Doug Liman, no one can question his bold choices and visionary take on filmmaking. Even when he ventured into the dark side of American patriotism with the Tom Cruise-led American Made (2017), Liman surprisingly managed to justify his opinion behind the narrative that many dubbed as “anti-Top Gun”.

Despite highlighting the questionable ethics of U.S. foreign policy during the 1980s and how the CIA dealt with things, Doug Liman called his movie extremely patriotic and quite American in its essence. Further, challenging the conventional notions of American heroism, Liman admitted that this movie was deeply personal on many levels.

“It’s basically intentional on my part”: Playing Barry Seal May Have Never Happened if Tom Cruise Hadn’t Starred in Top Gun
Image
Director Doug Liman has surprisingly revealed that his 2017 action comedy film American Made starring Tom Cruise was intentionally fashioned to make the audience feel some sort of semblance with 1986’s Top Gun. Well, in both films, Cruise portrays a pilot – a type of role that has become synonymous with the actor.

Of course, if a filmmaker casts Cruise in the same part that made him worldwide famous, people are going to make comparisons, something that Liman actually expected. In a sense, then, American Made would not exist if Top Gun never happened.

The 12 Best Movies To Watch If You Like Sicario
Image
Movies don't get much better than Denis Villeneuve's "Sicario," an Oscar-winning 2015 drama that takes a hard look at the war on drugs as seen through the eyes of a naive FBI agent (Emily Blunt). Written by "Yellowstone" creator Taylor Sheridan, "Sicario" doesn't play by traditional rules. There are no heroes or villains or easy solutions to complicated problems. Instead, this world is littered with characters like Benicio del Toro's haunted assassin Alejandro Gillick and Josh Brolin's ruthless and curiously detached CIA operative, two men who willfully execute their ethically compromised missions because it's the only path that leads to something resembling success.

Dark, atmospheric, well written and acted, and boasting some of legendary cinematographer Roger Deakins' best work, "Sicario" is an experience you won't soon forget. There aren't many films like it.

That said, there are films we wholeheartedly recommend that at least come close. We've compiled...

Doug Liman Confirms Tom Cruise’s Involvement With Supernatural Thriller ‘Deeper’
Image
Tom Cruise is attached to star in Deeper, a supernatural thriller that Doug Liman has in early development, the filmmaker has revealed.

Liman shared the news with Showbiz411’s Roger Friedman at a recent NYC screening of the documentary Gaucho Gaucho, expressing his interest in crafting a “scary” movie at this stage of his career. “I have never done one,” said the director, “and neither has Tom.”

While reports have suggested that Deeper may be Liman’s next project, whether that’s actually the case is not yet clear. Sources have confirmed to Deadline that the film is currently set up at Warner Bros.

Deeper follows an astronaut who encounters a terrifying force while on a deep dive into a never-before-explored trench. In development for almost a decade, the project was originally set up at MGM in April 2016, following the studio’s acquisition of a hot spec from Max Landis.

Deeper: Tom Cruise and Doug Liman reteam for supernatural thriller
Image
About nine years ago, a supernatural thriller script called Deeper, written by Max Landis, was the subject of a bidding war that MGM ended up winning. They forked over a seven figure amount. At the time, the project had Bradley Cooper on board to play the lead character and Kornel Mundruczo (White God) was set to direct it. In 2017, Gal Gadot entered negotiations to join Cooper in the cast. But the deal was never closed with Gadot, Cooper had to drop out due to scheduling issues, and Mundruczo followed him out the door. Baltasar Kormakur (2 Guns) was then hired to direct the film, and in 2019, Idris Elba stepped up to replace Cooper in the lead. The project was shelved in response to allegations that Landis had emotionally and/or physically abused multiple women, so Kormakur and Elba went off and made Beast together instead. But now, Deeper is being revived,...

Director Doug Liman and Tom Cruise have long planned to work together again after collaborating on Edge Of Tomorrow and American Made. Tom Cruises Forgotten $135M Action Movie Reversed Top Guns Story & It's One Of His Best Performances In The Last Decade

In 2017s American Made, Tom Cruise proved that he can be at his best when playing the exact opposite of Top Guns franchise hero Maverick. In 2017s American Made, Tom Cruise plays real-life smuggler Barry Seal, a larger-than-life figure who ran drugs for the CIA during Iran-Contra. While Barry Seal made a lot of money during his escapades, American Made doesnt portray the pilot as a charismatic antihero. The fact that the drug money was used to fund anti-Communist death squads in South America is never far from the audiences mind, making Cruises character an amoral figure.

This 3-Hour Movie With 82% On Rt Earned Tom Cruise His Last Oscar Nomination & He Deserved To Win
Image
One of Tom Cruise's all-time great performances can be found in Paul Thomas Anderson's 1999 film Magnolia. While Cruise has become a monolithic figure in the action genre over the last decade or more, he has starred in dozens of dramas and several comedies throughout the years, some of which include A Few Good Men (1992), Rain Man (1988), Collateral (2004), American Made (2017), The Firm (1993), and Tropic Thunder (2008). Thanks to Cruise's latest deal with Warner Bros. and modern interest in returning to dramas, Cruise could be the closest to eyeing his first Oscar win after last being nominated in 1999.

Cruise had originally starred in more traditional dramas, comedies, and other genre films before the meteoric rise of his Mission: Impossible and Top: Gun franchises. He made his feature film debut in the tragic romantic drama Endless Love (1981) before rising to prominence as the star of Risky Business (1983), The Color of Money (1986), and...

Tom Cruise's most underrated action movie is now on Netflix
Image
When you think of Tom Cruise movies, the first action movies that come to mind are probably the Mission: Impossible movies or the Top Gun movies. Those are two of the most successful action franchises featuring Cruise, so that makes sense.

That movie is Edge of Tomorrow, which premiered in 2014, and it's back on Netflix celebrating the film's 10-year anniversary! If you're looking for what to watch on Netflix, you can't go wrong with Edge of Tomorrow.

Netflix adds Edge of Tomorrow on Sept. 7
