Dude Perfect has bulked up its war chest as it prepares for the next phase of its expansion. The entertainment brand that got its start with basketball trick shots has secured a “nine-figure” investment from private equity firm Highmount Capital.
Though the exact size of the funding round was not disclosed, the deal will imbue Dude Perfect with upwards of $100 million, which will be applied to the media company’s continued growth and expansion. Though Dude Perfect initially began with a single YouTube channel, it has since evolved into a multiplatform empire that includes a streaming service, an ownership stake in a Premier League soccer club, and even a cruise. Meanwhile, the original Dude Perfect channel is still going strong; it counts more than 60 million subscribers.
With its latest injection of capital, Dude Perfect will pursue new opportunities and projects while continuing to forge partnerships and build their management team.

Matthew McConaughey collaborated alongside Woody Harrelson in the HBO critically praised show True Detective. The pair would portray two police officers with an antagonistic relationship in the series. But McConaughey asserted there were times Harrelson truly was put off by his co-star’s performance.
Matthew McConaughey described what it was like working with Woody Harrelson Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson | Lester Cohen/WireImage
Harrelson and McConaughey grew as much of a bond as their characters did in the first season of True Detective. Viewers remember McConaughey playing Rust Cohle, a pessimistic detective with a habit of going on long soliloquies. Meanwhile, Harrelson would play McConaughey’s partner Martin Hart.
There were many instances during True Detective where Harrelson’s character would be visibly annoyed by McConaughey’s speeches. But not all of it was an act. Speaking with Smartless, Harrelson shared that McConaughey had a habit of staying in character on set.

The executive was part of the film teams overseen by Courtenay Valenti and Julie Rapaport.
Moya-Smith was hired during the Jonathan Glickman-run era of the MGM Motion Picture Group, and continued to work throughout the Michael De Luca-Pamela Abdy regime into the studio’s absorption by Amazon. Prior to Amazon’s takeover over MGM,...

The live-action Titans series had tremendous potential, from its source material to the pedigrees of the talent bringing the heroes to television. Titans failed to work from the first episode to the last. As a television series, it needed a bigger budget for better effects, and the caliber of actors needed to be stronger to pull off these larger-than-life personalities.
Most of the storylines were drawn from Marv Wolfman and George Pérez’s seminal run from the early 1980s or the early issues from Geoff Johns and Mike McKone’s run in the 2000s. Both required a consistent tonality along with a budget to make the scope of the stories work.

Zany comedy is alive and well, thanks to Paul Briganti’s Please Don’t Destroy: The Treasure of Foggy Mountain. Reminiscent of films like Dude, Where’s My Car, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, and Rat Race, today’s Please Don’t Destroy trailer finds three losers hoping to make a name for themselves by finally uncovering the lost treasure of Foggy Bottom. Unfortunately for the dim-witted trio, everyone and their grandmother knows about the jackpot and will stop at nothing to claim its prize of a rumored $100 million in spoils.
John Goodman narrates the adventure of Ben, Martin, and John, three childhood friends turned deadbeat co-workers, who fend off hairless bears, desperate park rangers (Meg Stalter and X Mayo), and a hypocritical cult leader (Bowen Yang) in the hopes of finding a priceless treasure, only to discover that finding the treasure is the easiest part of their journey. When Amazon’s Prime Video streams a new “Black Friday” NFL game later this year, viewers won’t be greeted solely by a live match.
The company plans to offer commercials featuring its talent around the event, according to Danielle Carney, who heads up NFL sales for Amazon. During remarks made at an industry conference, Carney envisioned different “talent” being tapped to talk to viewers about possible buying opportunities. “Black Friday,” the day after Thanksgiving, is typically seen as the first day of the U.S. holiday shopping season.
“We can be thoughtful about deals we are showing to those who are tuning in,” Carney said, a possible allusion to the fact that streamers can place ads in front of specific audiences by using data about subscribers as well as consumer information from particular sponsors.

It was a Saturday afternoon in late April, and the writers strike was looming, if not inevitable. Still, the six men gathered in L.A. for The Hollywood Reporter’s annual Drama Actor Emmy Roundtable showed no signs of panic. In fact, The Old Man’s Jeff Bridges and Dahmer’s Evan Peters were busy sharing breathing exercises, while The Last of Us‘ Pedro Pascal and Succession‘s Kieran Culkin compared notes about hosting Saturday Night Live. Culkin had just been tapped by SNL for the season’s penultimate episode, one of many productions that would be shuttered a few days later. But before Hollywood came to a halt, the foursome, along with Snowfall’s Damson Idris and The White Lotus’ Michael Imperioli, got candid about the pressure, the fandom and who’s really in the Mandalorian suit. (Watch the full roundtable.)

Reese Witherspoon, who first made a splash 30 years ago, has never lost a drop of her sunny smart charismatic movie-star spunk. Ashton Kutcher, in a career that kicked off in 1998, has had his ups and downs, but he has also grown as an actor, hitting a new peak as the discursive Southern dandy villain of last year’s “Vengeance.” These two are game and seasoned, with a shine of glamour, so teaming them up for a middle-aged romantic comedy sounds perfectly appealing. But what did either of them do to deserve “Your Place or Mine”? It’s a singularly chintzy Netflix rom-com even if you already think of Netflix rom-coms as chintzy. In fact, it’s two bad movies in one.

Netflix has landed the feature film rights to Kotaro Isaka’s novel, “Seesaw Monster.” The film version is set to star Anne Hathaway and Salma Hayek Pinault as rivals forced to work together.
Isaka is best known for writing “Maria Beetle,” which was adapted into 2022’s comedic thriller “Bullet Train” starring Brad Pitt. “Seesaw Monster” is not related to the Japanese author’s “Hitman” trilogy, which includes “Maria Beetle” and “Three Assassins,” the inspiration behind the 2015 movie “Grasshopper.”
Plot details for “Seesaw Monster” haven’t been revealed, but Netflix describes the movie as “an action-comedy two-hander” between Hathaway and Hayek Pinault. Olivia Milch, whose credits include writing, directing and producing Netflix’s “Dude” and co-writing “Ocean’s 8,” is penning the screenplay. It’s unclear who will direct the film.
Hathaway and Hayek Pinault will also serve as producers alongside Akiva Goldsman, Gregory Lessans, Ryosuke Saegusa and Yuma Terada. Executive producers include Jose Tamez,...

Actress Lucy Hale ("Pretty Little Liars") poses for Dutch lingerie brand Hunkemöller, photographed by David Roemer:
"I'm at this place in my life where I accept all parts of me, not just the good parts," said Hale.
"The good, the bad and the 'ugly'. And so to feel empowered in something that is vulnerable like lingerie, that is special to me.
"To be here, shooting pieces that I had a hand in designing and actually wearing them, that just shows I have come a long way and I hope that’s apparent through all of it – the collection, the imagery, the video..."
Hale first co-starred as 'Becca Sommers' in the TV series "Bionic Woman" (2007) and as 'Rose Baker' in the series "Privileged" (2008–2009). Her breakthrough role was 'Aria Montgomery' in the Freeform TV series "Pretty Little Liars" (2010–2017) followed by playing 'Stella Abbott' in "Life Sentence" (2018) and as the "Archie" Comics character "Katy Keene" (2020).

[Editor’s note: The following post contains spoilers for “The Suicide Squad” and its post-credits scenes.]
After more than two hours and plenty of R-rated gags, James Gunn’s “The Suicide Squad” ends on a high note, with some caveats. The so-called Suicide Squad, while somewhat fractured, has emerged victorious against most of its foes, has cemented its relationships (particularly that of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn and Idris Elba’s Bloodsport), and gotten a little bit wiser about the very people who control their fates.
It’s not exactly all wrapped up in a tidy bow, but it’s satisfying and silly and strange, all good things. Still, it’s not entirely over, as Gunn unspools a pair of post-credits scenes that both add to the story at hand, and set the stage for some more wack stuff to come. Ahead, the filmmaker details to IndieWire what he hopes viewers will get out of both scenes, including some...

Act Like a Man is a column examining male screen performers past and present, across nationality and genre. If movie stars reflect the needs and desires of their audience in any particular era, examining their personas, popularity, fandom, and specific appeals has plenty to tell us about the way cinema has constructed—and occasionally deconstructed—manhood on our screens.Contemplating the lifelong brilliance of the 71-year-old Jeff Bridges, one thing seems certain: he’s not at risk of being forgotten. At the very least, he will likely be forever synonymous with the Dude, a lovable, beardy, schlepping character who espouses stoner philosophy and helped make The Big Lebowski (1998) an all-time cult favorite. The Dude may abide so well that it’s become easy to obscure the fact that Jeff Bridges has been doing strange and fascinating things on screen for nearly every decade of his life—in arguably better and...

The CW has found its Katy Keene. Pretty Little Liars alumna Lucy Hale is set as the title character in the CW’s spinoff pilot Katy Keene from Riverdale creator/executive producer Robert Aguirre-Sacasa, Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. TV.
Written by Aguirre-Sacasa and Michael Grassi, Katy Keene follows the lives and loves of four iconic Archie Comics characters — including fashion legend-to-be Katy Keene (Hale) and singer/songwriter Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) — as they chase their twenty-something dreams in New York City. The musical dramedy chronicles the origins and struggles of four aspiring artists trying to make it on Broadway, on the runway and in the recording studio.
Bold, big-hearted and independent, Hale’s Katy Keene is a twenty-something New Yorker who aspires to be a fashion designer. When she’s not working as a personal shopper at a luxury department store, she’s navigating friendship and dating in the big city.

The hopes of millions of The Big Lebowski fans were dashed earlier this week when it was revealed that tantalizing images of Jeff Bridges back in his Dude duds were not for some sort of sequel, but rather a Super Bowl commercial for Stella Artois. The Dude doesn’t even appear until halfway through the ad, which focuses on Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw character from Sex and The City.

“Pretty Little Liars” star Lucy Hale has joined the cast of Sony and Blumhouse’s upcoming film Fantasy Island.
Starring opposite Michael Pena, Hale will play one of the guests at a mysterious island where people can live out their fantasies — for a price. The movie is based on the television series, which ran for seven seasons from 1977 to 1984 and often dealt with dark themes and the supernatural.
Pena will portray Mr. Roarke, a role originated by Ricardo Montalban in the television series. The TV show became best known for Mr. Roarke’s sidekick Tattoo (played by Hervé Villechaize), who would ring a bell in a bell tower and shout “Ze plane! Ze plane!” to announce the arrival of a new set of guests at the start of each episode.

Happy Sunday, "Pretty Little Liars" fans. We've got some good news for you guys in regards to the former, Pretty Little Liars, Aria Montgomery star Lucy Hale. It turns out that she's landed a new movie gig after her CW "Life Sentence" drama took a flop after just its first,13 episode season. According to the folks over at Deadline.com , Lucy is set to star in a new movie called, " A Nice Girl Like You." They say it's an indie rom-com that's based on a true story by Ayn Carillo-Gailey. Andrea Marcellus adapted the story for the screen. The movie is going to be directed by the brother team of Chris and Nick Riedell. Lucy's character in this new flick is Lucy Neal. She's described as being an adorable, follow-the-rules, somewhat repressed, well-educated violinist who is thrown for a loop when she is accused of being too inhibited by her ex-boyfriend.
