    Smart and silly

    I love how this series is able to combine both intelligent and silly humor. Mockumentaries , when done well, accomplish this and it did. Rhys Darby did a fantastic job taking on so many different characters, giving them such personality. Despite the fact that he played all the main characters, Darby was able to make you forget that. Each character came alive as a completely different person. Each episode provided something new and different, but I loved how they linked in the previous ones. David Farrier provided the right balance of playing a reporter who displayed subtle reactions to the absurdities of what was going on around him.

    very funny, smart show

    I have no idea why new zealand is able to produce great television year after year with such a small population. I hope I'm giving anything away by guessing the arts portion of the economy is the highest on the planet.

    From 10 outta 10 series like outrageous fortune, step dave etc now comes this totally off the wall blend of comedy; usually only shared at a party with close friends when you've a madcap friend. This is a much watch for fans of QI, Peep Show, Monkey Dust and Greenwing etc. Off the hook funny.

    brilliant concept with perfect execution needs a salute. bravo disclaimer I've never been to new zealand never married one etc

    I Just Don't Get It!!!!

    Where they got the 7.9 rating, I just don't understand?? This form/type of comedy is neither funny nor entertaining to me. It's like 20 minutes of "fart" humour, or males getting hit in their "junk" for a half an hour!!! It's sad that the title ("Short Poppies") is wasted on this series. I could've seen it belonging to a much better series........ ie: Cafe, Rover, Sea Change, 800 Words, Nothing Trivial. Just have a "plan B", because this may not be your sort of humour either. CHEERS!!! X

    Just love it!

    I found Short Poppies after Corner Gas and a few other great shows. It's hilarious!

    Never gets old

    I watched this a couple times all the way through a few years ago and just noticed it's on amazon prime and I'm already diving in and laughing so hard as if it's the first time watching it. Rhys is hilarious and Short Poppies is an absolute favorite of mine.
