Overall this is a pretty solid mid-season finale. Dr Wes proves that he is even more crazy in this episode. The scenes where he is experimenting on Elena are done very well in my opinion. This episode has quite a few revelations about Augustine in it as well which was very interesting to learn. The whole Katherine concept wasn't my favourite but it wasn't that bad either in this episode. I also don't know how to feel about Enzo in this episode but I'm sure we'll see more of him. As well all of the scenes including Damon, Stefan and Aaron were also done well in my opinion. Overall this isn't the best mid-season finale but it certainly is pretty good and it once again has a pretty interesting cliffhanger.

Another strong entertaining episode with Damon and Stefan working with enzo to rescue elena , I thought the acting was great from everyone, Michael malarkey joins the series and is already a great fit and his acting is pretty damn awesome too

Katherine wakes up in bed with Stefan to find a piece of curled hair. She freaks out and covers herself with the blanket, running away and bumping into things.
Elena is coiled to the chair as Wes prepares blood.
Damon comes home to ask if Elena is home. He reveals for the first time the experimentation he went through to Stefan. They get Aaron to call Wes. They threaten that they will kill Aaron.
Enzo is released for the first time. Wes injects him with a poison that only he has the antidote for and tells him to make sure Damon is dead.
Enzo is furious with Damon but he falls unconscious from the poison. He looks like he died. Enzo wakes up to find Damon. Damon used random antidotes and one seemed to do the trick.
Elena is back at the Salvatores' reading over her father's journal. Her father saved Megan as a child using vampire blood. That is why she has a photo of him in her phone.
