For the longest time, Deathstroke was a rather obscure DC character. But, thanks in large part to Arrow, the world’s deadliest mercenary permeated the mainstream, with appearances in video games such as Batman: Arkham Origins and animated films like Son of Batman also doing wonders to help his cause.
Much to our delight, Slade Wilson’s future is looking brighter than ever now, as the character recently appeared in a post-credits scene for Justice League, in addition to Warner Bros. kicking around the idea for a solo film. That’s all hugely exciting, especially because Joe Manganiello is absolutely perfect in the role and it seems that he has a bright future in the DC Extended Universe.
There’s the standalone outing we just mentioned, which is being helmed by director Gareth Evans and is looking to Gods of War, Tony S. Daniel and Sandu Florea’s comic series...

Despite having most of 2017’s San Diego Comic-Con ahead of us, DC certainly hasn’t wasted any time making big announcements. In fact, two were made just yesterday when one of the most imaginative writers around, Grant Morrison, crashed the “Meet the Publishers” panel and announced sequels to some of his most well-known works, those being Arkham Asylum 2 and Wonder Woman: Earth One Volume Two.
First, let’s talk about his next Wonder Woman tale that’s following up on its 2016 predecessor since it’s fresher in everyone’s minds. According to the superstar scribe, this’ll be “the story’s Empire Strikes Back,” which makes sense since the first volume focused largely on Diana’s origin, and that we’re to expect Amazons vs. Nazis.

Warner Bros. is putting together one monumental box set in honor of the 10th Anniversary of the DC Animated Universe! Find out what all is included!
While Wonder Woman may be putting the DC Entertainment Universe back on track, there is DC content that Warner Bros. and DC have never had a problem with, the animated DC Original Movies. In fact, their movies have been touted as being better than Marvel's, which is no small feat.

With the voice cast having been revealed several weeks ago and the Blu-ray release of Justice League Dark now behind us (be sure to check out our review), it comes as no surprise that Warner Home Video wasted little time in releasing a trailer for the next DC animated film, Teen Titans: The Judas Contract.
Paying tribute to the classic comic book storyline penned by Marv Wolfman and illustrated by George Perez, this long awaited adaptation will be a bit more loose than expected, seeing as how it has to align with the New 52 inspired continuity established by the current crop of animated movies. Still, fans should be pleased to see familiar faces such as Nightwing, Raven, Beast Boy and Starfire, along with new additions like Robin/Damian Wayne and Blue Beetle.

Justice League Vs. Teen Titans is Warner Brothers' other versus film coming out this March. During last weekend's WonderCon I had a chance to see an advanced screening of the animated movie that's in the same cineverse as films like Son of Batman and Justice League: War.
If you've seen those previous films then your expectations should be perfectly dialed in for what the tone, quality of animation, and voice acting will be like. That said, Justice League Vs. Teen Titans feels pretty safe in terms of story. While solidly told, it's not mind blowing for a team "origin" story. The story is so simple giving a summary would give away too much (so sorry for the short review).
The Teen Titans comprise Raven, Blue Beetle, and Beast Boy. They're appropriately awkward and overpowered, which keeps their showdown with members of The Justice League from ending quickly. Starfire is the...

Plot:
After Batman goes missing, Dick Grayson takes up his mantle as He and Damian Wayne have to protect Gotham City, while also trying to find the original Batman. Two new allies, Batwoman and Batwing arrive to help investigate Batman’s disappearance.
Verdict:
So here we are with another ‘Original’ movie from DC, who were once a Juggernaut when it came to releasing a constant stream of excellent animated movies that eclipsed the majority of DC’s live-action catalogue. But it does appear (apart from a few films like Jl: Gods and Monsters and Batman: Assault on Arkham) that things are not going to change any time soon (especially with how Justice League vs.

Variant covers are something of a tradition in American comics--usually superhero comics. While I generally abhor the tradition for two reasons (one, the covers never represent the actual content in the books, and two, I hate that it preys on the completionist's Ocd), even I have to admit that they tend to get some quality cover designs out of it, and if this first series of covers is any indication, this will be no exception.
In celebration (and promotion) of the upcoming Batman v Superman, DC will be producing three variant covers for ten issues of comics. The first issue to get this treatment will be Detective Comics #50, with the cover being done by Rafael Grampa.
You can check out these covers below!

We’ve got two clips for you to watch from Warner Bros. Animation’s upcoming animated film Batman: Bad Blood. The first clip is called “Dates,” and it’s an action sequence that features Nightwing fighting the villain Blockbuster. The second clip is called “Gone,” and it shows us a conversation Nightwing and Alfred have about Batman’s disappearance.
When Batman goes missing, it will take the entire Bat “family” – including new additions Batwoman and Batwing – to keep the peace in Gotham City and unravel the mystery behind the Dark Knight’s disappearance in Batman: Bad Blood.
This movie was inspired by a few different Batman stories including Batman: R.I.P., Batman & Robin, and Batman Inc. It's also a follow-up to the previous animated films Son of Batman and Batman vs. Robin. If you liked those two movies, then you're sure to enjoy this one.

Two words could be used to describe comics in 2015: scandal and rebirth. The scandals happened off the pages at both companies large and small, and the rebirth happened in the comics themselves.
Graphic Policy reported that former Dark Horse Comics editor-in-chief Scott Allie bit writer Joe Harris (X-Files Season Ten) at the Boom! Studios party at San Diego Comic Con, and he was demoted to “executive editor” even though an assault of this kind would be grounds for dismissal at almost any other company. There was also another ethical breach at Dark Horse when The Rainbow Hub journalist Emma Houxbois reported that former Bleeding Cool editor Hanna Means-Shannon broke a Dark Horse-related story while it was under embargo and didn’t disclose the fact that she was taking a job with the company.
Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso’s dismissal of African-American comics fans and creators when asked why...

Warner Bros. Animation
For over 20 years now, Warner Bros. Animation has been producing some of the finest programmes and films in the business, with their most successful outings of course revolving around the titular heroes of the DC Universe. Recently however? Their releases have been less than exemplary.
The decline can be traced back to the demise of DC’s old universe, with the New 52 sadly alienating a great deal of fans with its rupturing of continuity and unchecked editorial interference. Sadly, its roots have also worked their way into DC’s once immaculate animated efforts, with films like Justice League: War and Son of Batman embedding themselves very comfortably in the annals of animated mediocrity. Uniform art styles and rigid story telling never used to be the norms of Warner Bros.’ animated adaptations, but they certainly are now.
It’s not just the films that have suffered either...

Plot:
In an alternate reality, the Justice League is a brutal force that the World fears and distrusts. So when the Jl are framed for a series of murders, no-one is exactly jumping to their defence and it is up to Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman to figure this out for themselves and ultimately save the day.

Looking forward to September, DC has a lot of big things coming down the pipeline, as DC continues their DCYou initiative.
While the Darseid War rages on in Justice League #44 promising an ending that will “change the League forever”, Justice League United #13 hints at the return of a legendary DC character.
Come September, it looks like DC has decided to start mixing things up as characters begin to collide in new and exciting ways. Lobo and Sinestro cross over, as the intergalactic bounty hunter squares off with the master of fear. In Robin, Son of Batman #4, Damian Wayne goes toe-to-toe with Deathstroke, Slade Wilson. Batgirl of Burnside will be making a guest appearance in We Are… Robin #4. And it looks like the Doomed meets the wrong end of Wonder Girl’s lasso in Doomed #4.

DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation bring fans of the Dark Knight his latest adventure Batman vs. Robin. Writer J. M. DeMatteis does an incredible job blending together Grant Morrison’s Batman & Robin: Batman vs. Robin and Scott Snyder’s Batman: The Court of Owls graphic novels into one action-packed thrill ride through the darkness of Gotham City. It doesn’t hurt that the ever angry and charismatic Damien Wayne and his strained relationship with his father Bruce are parts of the main focus of the story.
In Batman vs. Robin, Damian Wayne has a hard time accepting his father's no-killing rule. He soon starts to believe his destiny lies within a secret society. The Son of Batman finds himself the target of a vigilante calling himself Talon. The mysterious man wants Damian to take his place as the lead assassin of the enigmatic Court of Owls.

Plot:
Damian Wayne has established himself as Robin, but he and Batman continue to clash over the latter’s rule of not killing criminals. But when he becomes the recruiting target of a criminal secret society called the Court of Owls, the Dynamic Duo face their greatest challenge yet…each other!
Verdict:
Never have I watched a DC animated film and said ‘What?’ every few moments before this one, because Batman vs. Robin in my is view one of their worst offerings (it is just as bad if not worse than Son of Batman and Justice League: War) in recent years. The International Film Music Critics Association has revealed nominations for best in movie music from 2014, and prolific composers James Newton Howard ("The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1," "Maleficent") and Alexandre Desplat ("Godzilla," "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "The Imitation Game," "The Monuments Men") led the way with seven and six nominations respectively. Film score of the year contenders include just two Best Original Score Oscar nominees: "The Grand Budapest Hotel" and Hans Zimmer's "Interstellar." "The Imitation Game" and Jóhann Jóhannsson's "Theory of Everything," however, were both nominated in the drama category. "Maleficent" landed the most nominations for a film with four, while DreamWorks Animation's "How to Train Your Dragon 2" picked up three (each of them another if you count composer of the year honors for Howard and John Powell respectively). Check out the full list of nominees below. Winners will be revealed on Feb. 19. And be sure...

Following the trailer for Batman Vs. Robin, Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment have released the cover art for the animated film along with some additional details. The reaction from fans regarding this movie have been mixed, especially since a lot of people didn't seem very happy with the last movie, Son of Batman. I think it will offer some fun entertainment regardless.
The movie is being directed by Jay Oliva (Batman: Assault on Arkham) from a script written by J.M. DeMatteis. Here's a new synopsis for the film that offers some additional story details:
The shadows of Gotham City are no place for a child but Damian Wayne is no ordinary child. Now bearing the mantle of Robin, he blazes a headstrong and sometimes reckless trail alongside his father, Batman. While investigating a crime scene, Robin encounters a mysterious figure, Talon, who leads him on a life-altering course through the...

"Weird Al" Yankovic will lend his singular vocal stylings to a new animated Batman movie, Batman vs. Robin — voicing one of the Dark Knight's foes, the Dollmaker, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Dollmaker debuted as a Batman villain in 2011 (he's the son of a cannibalistic serial killer) and his modus operandi is particularly grotesque: He stitches together the body parts of his victims to make dolls. In one particularly gruesome instance, the Dollmaker cut off the face of the Joker per that lunatic's request.

It comes as no surprise that DC Comics is re-launching a monthly series for Deathstroke. The character is more popular now than ever after being heavily featured on Arrow, Son of Batman, and different video games. Issue 1 is a great start to another chapter in the life of the mercenary-for-hire.

Marvel may be dominating the box office at the moment, but when it comes to animated features, they are no match for DC’s output. There have been a couple of “okay” Marvel animated movies, but almost every DC animated feature I’ve seen has been total quality. The last DC animated movie movie that was covered on this site, and it might have even been the last DC animated movie released, was Son of Batman. It was pretty good, though admittedly not my favorite. It was also much different than the graphic novel it was based on, but that happens a lot, and most of the time it’s okay. I think my favorite DC animated feature is The Dark Knight Returns, an adaptation of Frank Miller’s superb graphic novel. They’ve released quite a bit, though, and even more is on the horizon, including a new Justice League movie,...

I was rather upset at the news that DC would be killing off Damian Wayne. I really didn’t see why they should off the character just when he was hitting his prime. Everybody knows that nobody stays dead in comic books so it was just a matter of time before he popped up again somehow. That somehow was Andy Kubert’s “What If?”-styled limited series Damian: Son of Batman.
The graphic novel edition simply entitled Damian: Son of Batman Deluxe Edition collects the four issue series combined with Batman #666 and #700. The book explores the idea of Damian Wayne surviving his run-in with Leviathan. He’s now living with the pain and grief that his father was taken from him. He dons a personalized Batman costume and hunts down criminals in Gotham City every night with one goal on his mind. He doesn’t get the police or the...

We already know that the Aquaman-centric DC animated feature film Justice League: Throne of Atlantis will kick things off in 2015, but it’s just been revealed that it won’t be alone. 2015 will consist of three DC animated films, as revealed during the San Diego Comic-Con panel for the upcoming Batman: Assault on Arkham.
The two new features are Batman Versus Robin, a sequel to this year’s Son of Batman, and an original story from Batman: The Animated Series co-creator Bruce Timm called Justice League: Gods & Monsters.
Batman Versus Robin will be based on the Scott Snyder/Greg Capullo New 52 comic story “The Court of Owls,” which is one of my personal favorite Batman stories. However, it never featured Batman facing off with his sidekick, so expect this to be a loose adaptation of the run, much like Son of Batman was only partly based on Grant Morrison...

When Damian Wayne was killed off, I immediately knew it was only a matter of time before the character would somehow be resurrected. He was becoming such a pivotal part of the Batman legacy. Malevolent centers on a “young woman (Dani Lennon) who must defeat her powerful, evil father in order to save herself and her siblings.” It was scripted by Jim Cirile and Tanya C. Klein (Liberator), and directed by Jason Axinn (Bite Me).
