An enjoyable story
rugby-131671 February 2024
Unexpectedly the charming and funny drama My Boss hits its thorough moments in all the right ways, even with providing a few funny scenes throughout. Chen Xing Xue is by far the standout in the drama, displaying his superb skillful performance in the drama. The scriptwriter did all the best for progression of the story taken forward. The drama does have a bit of an issue with the ending because of we haven't seen a wedding ceremony but nothing that ruins the story in a whole. The drama is purely enjoyable, at times surprisingly inspiring for novice lawyers. In the end, My Boss surpassed my expectations.

idol romance drama
whitesky200030 January 2024
This is just idol romance drama.

I am smiling while I am watching this drama.

Although it is old typical idol romance drama, some of plot lines and characters are quite okay. Both main lead actor and actress are quite fine in acting skills and good in chemistry and their chemistry is so lovely and sweet!!

The main reason I watched this drama is because of main lead actor, who I know actor from goodbye princess drama.

Although he looks older than his age, he is good at acting and quite confident on screen.

It may be due to he started acting on drama since 3 years old.

I enjoyed and keep smiling while watching this!!

At the last 5 episodes, the plots are shown different perspectives of female and male characters which is good!! They show independent women character who is working as professional career, is quite well and respectfully.

Almost perfect

I don't usually give out 10 stars but this drama was so close to perfection and me giving out my first 10.

Zhang Ruo Nan plays an almost inocent child like new lawyer with dreams of becoming a top lawyer. Ceng Yao (Zhang Ruo Nan) is unexpectedly recruited by a leading legal firm, JunHeng.

She rents out an appartment not far from her new job, but the day of her moving in she finds out that her appartement was also rented out to Qian Heng (Chen Xing Xu). For the time being they decide to live together.

Qian Heng is a very professional extreemly dificulkt to please and anfortunately for the sweet YaoYao he happens to be her direct superior. No matter what hge trows at her she stands tall and quickly becomes proves to be part of the team.

We have everything possible to make a great drama, the uptight CEO, the sweet joung newbie, the exentric friends, the meddling parents and even the jealous shrew to make trouble.

A Sweet & Enjoyable Tale
bobbi-224436 February 2024
Cinderella mixed with Beauty and the Beast meets the Odd Couple. I am totally all in and had to wait for episode 27 to go English subtitled so I can watch in order, just now completing 29. I am amazed at the authenticy and range of the actors and actresses, the music, the scenery, comedy, and a fresh take on modern life with all the ups and downs and segways. Well Done! To the whole team of actors and crew.... what can top this, this winter viewing season. This was my first venture into Chinese cinema and it will not be my last. Thank-you IMDB for running with the title so it could get all the praise it deserves.

Cute office romance

Warning: Spoilers
I rated it an 8/10. I adore the male lead and find it impossible to look away from him when he's on screen. The cases they handled in the series were interesting and made me want to know the outcome. The sets were beautiful from the shared apartment to his villa to their open-concert office space. There was humor in the storyline which I greatly appreciated. The supporting cast (The male lead's mom and his assistants specifically) were fabulous!

What I didn't care for (my opinion, no one else has to agree) was the way the female lead was styled for most of the show. She's the same age as the male character, but she was styled to look like a teenager or young college student in a very professional environment. OMG! The socks!!! A fresh, off-the-bus look would've been fine for the beginning of the drama, but at some point, she needed to upgrade her wardrobe and show growth as a professional. There was a scene at the end of the series where she walks out of a courtroom in jeans. Oy vey! Personality-wise, the female character was on point, so don't mistake my dislike for her wardrobe as a dislike for her. She was a young woman who wanted to learn the ropes and work her way up the corporate ladder. She wanted to earn her accolades by her own merits and not by favoritism. That was respectable. At times, her immaturity and stubbornness were annoying, but those moments were expected and true to her character. The problem with styling a female lead to look so young is she can appear to be mismatched with the male lead. There were times when I felt like I was watching an older brother and younger sister interact, and that felt cringey. At other times, I felt like this much older man was preying on a young woman, and I didn't like that either.

Other things I noted- the female villain was introduced late in the series, but thankfully she was dealt with quickly and didn't stick around for long. The male villains who plagued the female lead and her sister were on another level. If sexual assault is a trigger, you've been warned. Two attempted SA's occur in this series and at least a couple of the cases discussed in the series deal with domestic violence.

A surprise find!
priyashashank7925 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This show took me completely by surprise. Though I like office romances, I wasn't keen on this one after Only for love failed miserably to impress me, with it casting two of my fav actors. This show had the ML who I don't particularly like, and the FL I hadn't seen before. That said, this show proved to be a breath of fresh air as far as the portrayal of a FL goes in Chinese dramas. Our FL here is a strong, independent and well qualified attorney, who doesn't shy away from workload dumped by her seniors, is rational in her thinking and very practical in her approach, and cooks well. She has been shown to have it all, which is how most Chinese dramas depict the ML. Our ML has been shown to be the best in the industry, unparalleled in capabilities, but he has his mental limitations which the FL breaks open in due course of time and we have our happy ending. There were a lot of things in the sow which showcased a change in perception of women in Chinese society, and very welcome ones. Most Chinese dramas show the FL to be super cute but incapable and demure, that's probably what would have been the accepted norm in a patriarchal society like China, but women of the world are making contributions academically, economically and socially, and gender equality is something that Asian countries cannot shy away from any more. It is heartening to see such shows that promote this concept, and I say this being an Indian, where my country hasn't been very different from the Chinese mindset when it comes to women, but I feel media has a huge responsibility to sway public opinion in favour of gender equality, and such shows pave the way. Heartiest congratulations to the entire team of My Boss for coming up with such a wonderful show. I loved the second leads and the other office couple, each and every actor performed superbly. I highly recommend this show.

Charming

Worth watching, even though it was 36 eps. Its starts slow FL is childish, but that is to show how she grows in the series. ML is very capable and a joy to watch, also the rest of the cast were very engaging with good storylines, the only downer I felt was the second ML, whose smile which was his only expression would solve everything, I just wanted to wipe it off his smug face. Overall a very good series engaging and funny at times with interesting legal storylines. I will be looking out for the actors in future projects. Sometimes the Chinese series can be somewhat lacking especially compared to SK dramas, but feel like they have upped their game with this. Also bet Pizza-hut were glade they sponsored it, cause it really looked good enough to eat!!
