Things got a bit steamy on The View recently when Sunny Hostin shared excerpts of her newest book, Summer on Highland Beach, with the ladies.
The ladies had all been laughing and joking just before Sunny asked Joy Behar to read some of the “sexy parts” of her newest book.
This book, coming out May 28, is the third of Sunny’s Sag Harbor series, and Sunny has been busy promoting it since Christmas.
In this hot political season, it is good for the ladies to take a break and talk about other issues, even if they are a bit hot and steamy.
Whoopi Goldberg started the segment asking about sexy books and shared an article from the New York Post that said reading erotica is more effective than watching it.
She asked Joy what she thought; it was the perfect segue for Sunny to ask her to read from her newest book.

Bill Lawrence has lost count of how many episodes of television he’s made at this point. There were 145 episodes of Spin City, he tallies, and another 182 of Scrubs. Before he co-created Ted Lasso (34 episodes) or Shrinking (10 and counting), he made one season of Clone High, three seasons of Undateable and six seasons of Cougar Town, with several other series mixed in. “So, it’s got to be close to a thousand by now,” he reasons.
The real marker of career longevity, however, is the fact that the prolific showrunner can be watching a sitcom now and if any one of his three children are to hit pause after a joke setup, Lawrence can, nine times out of 10, deliver the punchline. “It’s like my magic trick for my kids,” he says. “They’re like, ‘Oh, well, you’ve read this script,’ and I’ll be like, ‘I definitely didn...

Bill Lawrence, the top comedy showrunner at the moment amid the enormous critical and commercial success of Ted Lasso, is staying put at Warner Bros. TV Group through 2028. After lengthy negotiations, Emmy winner Lawrence, who had a little time left on his current overall pact at the studio, has closed a blockbuster new five-year deal for his Doozer production company, I have learned. Noone is commenting but sources value the pact at more than $100 million, catapulting Lawrence in the very top tear of TV showrunners.
Like other overall agreements of that caliber in the era of Peak TV, the path to this one was not straight-forward, with some sources I spoke to calling it a wild ride. I hear Warner Bros. originally balked at Lawrence’s financial ask. Because he is still under an overall arrangement at the studio, the Scrubs creator could not go on the open market and officially test the waters.

Fans of the late NBC comedy Undateable have at least one thing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving: Netflix on Thursday dropped all eight episodes of the new Christmas-themed comedy Merry Happy Whatever, which reunites former castmates Bridgit Mendler and Brent Morin.
Once again, the actors are romantically paired. Mendler plays Emmy Quinn, an L.A.-based financial analyst who brings her boyfriend, struggling musician Matt (Morin), home to meet her tight-knit, Philadelphia-based brood. That includes her hard-to-impress dad, Bucks County sheriff Don (The Parent Trap‘s Dennis Quaid), who takes an immediate disliking to his youngest daughter’s significant other.

When then-cbs TV Studios head of drama Julie McNamara was named Evp and head of Original Content for CBS All Access in June 2016, she brought with her VP Danny Feldheim and a junior executive. The trio oversaw the streamer’s initial original slate, which consisted of three series, Star Trek: Discovery, The Good Fights and No Activity.
For most of the past three and a half years, McNamara kept a lean programming team as CBS All Access’ original lineup grew from three shows to more than 14 planned to air in 2020. And while she says that “we didn’t want it any other way,” in light of of the programming ramp-up, McNamara is expanding her Original Content team.
Feldheim and Jana Steele Helman, who joined the streamer in April, have both been elevated to Svp, Original Content. Ashley Whitaker has joined the Svod and live-streaming service as Director of Original Content...

NBC is in tune with “Perfect Harmony” executive producer Jason Winer, developing another show from Winer’s 20th Century Fox TV-based Small Dog Picture Company. The Peacock network has bought the script “Forever Family,” a comedy from writers Austen Earl and Joel Church-Cooper.
Winer will serve as a non-writing executive producer on “Forever Family,” which centers on three different families that live “miles away but worlds apart” and who discover that their adopted children all share the same birth father. Earl and Church-Cooper will executive produce the project, along with Winer and Jon Radler, who heads up development at Small Dog.
“Forever Family” is part of a growing slate for Winer, who sealed a new overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV, now a part of Disney, earlier this year. Winer has been based at 20th for 13 years, and his current credits include “Perfect Harmony,” which premiered on NBC last month,...

Longtime “Black-ish” writer Courtney Lilly has been upped to the role of showrunner for the ABC comedy’s upcoming sixth season.
The move marks the second leadership change at the series since original creator-showrunner Kenya Barris stepped away from ABC for a highly lucrative Netflix deal in 2018.
Lilly replaces Kenny Smith who was brought in to co-showrun season 5 alongside Jonathan Groff. Sources tell Variety that Smith and Groff are stepping aside to focus on development, and will stay on the show as consulting producers. Smith signed a three-year overall deal with ABC soon after being named showrunner in 2018 and will continue to develop projects with ABC Studios.
Lilly, who has been a writer on the hit comedy series since season one, had previously served as a co-executive producer on NBC’s multi-camera comedy “Undateable” and as a co-producer on on Fox animated comedy “The Cleveland Show.” He also was a...
