‘Freaks and Geeks’ Cast: What Are They Doing in 2025?
Image
Before Euphoria had teens crying in glitter and Stranger Things brought back scrunchies, Freaks and Geeks was the ultimate throwback teen drama. Created by Paul Feig and backed by Judd Apatow, this one-season wonder gave us everything—awkward crushes, garage band dreams, and hallway drama set in the glorious chaos of the ’80s.

However, despite its popularity and Emmy win, Freaks and Geeks was canceled after 18 episodes. Struggling with ratings, the show was unfairly booted off TV. Yet, the geeks and freaks from the series managed to climb up the ladder of fame, following this 1999 dramedy. So today, let’s check out what the gang’s up to in 2025!

10. Natasha Melnick as Cindy Sanders

After watching myriad shows, we’ve finally concluded that every teen show needs that one totally-out-of-your-league crush. So, in Freaks and Geeks, Natasha Melnick played that soft-spoken cheerleader Cindy Sanders, who had poor Sam Weir stumbling...

The Only Bones Episode Written By Sweets Actor John Francis Daley
Image
From 2007 to 2014 and across 138 episodes, writer, director, producer, and actor John Francis Daley played Dr. Lance Sweets on "Bones," Hart Hanson's beloved procedural series about forensic anthropologists solving cold cases. Did you know, though, that Daley also wrote one of those episodes?

The season 6 episode "The Truth in the Myth" — which was written by Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, directed by Chad Lowe, and came out in 2011 — focuses on a case involving a man who worked as a "mythbuster" named Lee Coleman (Leigh McCloskey) who, it's believed, died in some sort of incident with the mythical Chupacabra. After Temperance "Bones" Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and her team keep investigating, they find all sorts of different animal traces on the corpse, including bite marks, scales from reptiles, and hair from mammals, though the pragmatic Bones remains convinced that it's all some sort of hoax.

Bones is, as usual, right. The weird...

The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping Adds Jesse Plemons, Mckenna Grace, Joseph Zada & Whitney Peak
Image
Following the success of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, we'll be heading back to Panem relatively soon as Lionsgate is about to kickstar production on another prequel The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

With filming expected to begin this summer, the studio has made some major casting announcements, with Joseph Zada (Invisible Boys; Total Control; The Speedway Murders) landing the lead role of a young Haymitch Abernathy.

He's joined by Whitney Peak (Gossip Girl; Hocus Pocus 2; Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) as Haymitch’s girlfriend Lenore Dove Baird, Mckenna Grace (Captain Marvel; Ghostbusters: Afterlife; The Handmaid’s Tale) as Maysilee Donner, and Academy Award-nominee Jesse Plemons (The Power of the Dog; Fargo; Game Night) as a young Plutarch Heavensbee.

After helming four of the previous four films, Francis Lawrence is directing once again, with a screenplay from Academy Award-nominee Billy Ray (Richard Jewell; Terminator: Dark Fate...

New The Hunger Games Prequel Has Found The Young Plutarch Heavensbee – And It's Perfect Casting
Image
Lionsgate isn't messing around when it comes to getting its latest "Hunger Games" prequel film, "Sunrise on the Reaping," ready for production. Even though the most recent book in Suzanne Collins' wildly popular series only recently hit shelves, the studio is well underway on an adaptation of said novel for the big screen. Now, we have word that one of the most important roles in the upcoming prequel has been filled, and it's a pitch-perfect bit of casting.

Thanks to a post on the official "Hunger Games" social media accounts, it's been revealed that Jesse Plemons has been cast as a young Plutarch Heavensbee. The character was originally played by the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman (beginning in "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"). The "Mockingjay" movies served as Hoffman's final credits before his passing.

Plemons actually played Hoffman's son previously in Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master," and that worked out quite well.

Next ‘Hunger Games’ Enlists Jesse Plemons as Plutarch Heavensbee
Image
Jesse Plemons is stepping into the shoes of late actor Philip Seymour Hoffman. Plemons will star in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping as Plutarch Heavensbee, the character Hoffman portrayed in his final film roles, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay—Parts 1 and 2.

He joins stars Joseph Zada, Whitney Peak and Mckenna Grace.

Sunrise on the Reaping adapts the new novel from Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins and takes place 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games. It starts on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, known as the Second Quarter Quell.

The story finds Plutarch Heavensbee — a future Head Gamemaker and rebellion leader — in District 12, for the reaping of tributes. Francis Lawrence returns to direct after helming multiple features, including the prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

Plemons, known for his scene-stealing character work in Friday Night Lights, Fargo and Breaking Bad and features Game Night,...

Sylvester Stallone Biopic 'I Play Rocky' Moving Forward at Amazon MGM
Image
Amid the new trailers and announcements at CinemaCon, we also learned that a new Sylvester Stallone movie is still in the works. This isn't a movie starring, written by, or directed by Stallone: it's about Stallone. I Play Rocky, a biopic about the actor's struggles getting his breakout film Rockymade, is still in development at Amazon MGM Studios. MovieWeb reports that Oscar-winner Peter Farrelly is attached to direct the film.

Farrelly, who won Oscars for co-writing and producing Green Book, which he also directed, is set to take the director's seat for I Play Rocky, which will detail how struggling actor Stallone wrote and sold a script about a Philadelphia boxer to United Artists, and even convinced the studio to let him star in it, too. The film is set to be produced by veteran Hollywood hand Toby Emmerich (Game Night), while Peter Gamble is penning the script. Notably,...

SXSW 2025 Review: Good Boy is a Rousing Success That Defies Genre Expectations
Image
You're a smart cookie, Ben Leonberg. How can I negatively review a dog-led haunted house movie? Good Boy is a layup for horror fans who adore their canine companions. Leonberg and co-writer Alex Cannon script a love letter to four-legged friends who lift our spirits, love us unconditionally and protect us from anything—including muddy basement entities. Leonberg's "Doggie Horror Movie" is leagues more than a gimmick, redefining traditional genre scopes for something applaudably innovative.

Leonberg's real-life dog, Indy, stars as himself in Good Boy. He's a loyal sidekick to Todd (Shane Jensen), a cancer patient who relocates into his grandfather's eerie woodland home (Larry Fessenden lends a veteran presence as pop-pop in old videos). Todd's sister Vera (Arielle Friedman) questions the choice, recalling an unshakable discomfort about the isolated spot. Her brother shrugs off the warning, but Indy immediately senses danger. Indy barks and claws and tries to warn Todd,...

One Of 2023's Best Fantasy Movies Is Finally Finding An Audience On Netflix
Image
"Dungeons & Dragons" is a tricky fantasy brand. Just about everyone knows what it is, and lots of people are quite sure that a role-playing game that requires loads of imagination and a considerable time commitment is not for them -- although, as "Freaks and Geeks" taught us, these folks who think they're anti-d&d are only one campaign away from becoming total converts. This overwhelmingly negative perception some people hold of D&d is likely a big reason why movies based on the game have failed to take off. There's also the fact that the first attempt, 2000's "Dungeons & Dragons," was an unwatchable heap of crap helmed by the shockingly untalented Courtney Solomon. That didn't help at all.

2023's "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" was a different matter entirely. Directed by Jonathan Goldstein and "Freaks and Geeks" alum John Francis Daley, the film boasted a crackerjack cast that included Chris Pine,...

Monopoly | Dungeons & Dragons team to write the movie adaptation
Promo One Sheet
Dungeons & Dragons filmmakers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have been drafted in to write the screenplay for a Monopoly film.

Last time we heard about plans to bring the board game Monopoly to the screen, Margot Robbie’s Luckychap production company had come aboard. This latest effort to adapt the game began when Lionsgate acquired Entertainment One from Hasbro in late 2023, with the Monopoly rights being part of that deal.

Luckychap was behind Barbie, a film which managed to both venerate and subvert Mattel’s toy doll line, so Lionsgate likely moved Monopoly onto the fast track. All in the hope that Robbie and her fellow collaborators could bottle the same lightning twice.

Barbie had plenty to say about gender roles in the 21st century, and Monopoly could say something about issues with late-stage capitalism. With his top hat, monocle and covetous desire to buy up every piece of property he can,...

Dungeons & Dragons Movie Writers to Adapt Iconic Board Game Into Feature Film
Image
Lionsgate and LuckyChap have secured screenwriting duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein to write the Monopoly movie, marking yet another attempt to transpose the classic board game where players accrue fake cash into real, box-office gold.

Per Deadline, Lionsgate closed the deal with the writing duo, who penned the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves film, adapting the titular Ttrpg, as the studio continues cornering the market on adaptations of beloved games.

Monopoly Project Passes Go After Years in Development Hell Fifth Attempt to Adapt Parker Brothers Classic Lands New Writers, Barbie Producers

The property's journey to theaters has been more grueling than completing an actual Monopoly game, replete with failed attempts to perfect the project for screen. The gestation dates back to 2008, when Ridley Scott envisioned a fantastical adventure to be distributed by Universal. He'd bow out in 2012. After a few update-less years, screenwriter Andrew Niccol (Gattaca) was...

Margot Robbie Produced 'Monopoly' Movie Gets 'D&d' Writers
Image
The Monopoly movie is back on the table, and any worries about a board game adaptation might be put to rest as the directing duo behind the critically acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is joining the project. Created in 1935 and drawing heavily from The Landlord Game, Monopoly is one of the most popular (and frustrating) games of all-time. The game is known worldwide and licensed in over 100 countries in multiple languages, with dozens of versions based on popular IPs. The iconic image of the Monopoly Guy or phrases like "get out of jail free card" and the various game pieces have become part of the cultural lexicon. Despite the fact that there is no true story about the game, that doesn't mean Hollywood hasn't tried to take this popular IP and turn it into a feature film, and they might have finally found the team to bring it to life.

‘Dungeons & Dragons’ Duo John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein to Write Monopoly Movie
Image
John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein are going from Dungeons & Dragons to Park Ave, closing a deal to write a movie based on the board game Monopoly.

Lionsgate is behind the project that is being produced by Barbie outfit LuckyChap and Hasbro Entertainment.

Monopoly dates back to 1935, and challenges players to acquire properties and build houses and hotels, all while avoiding bankruptcy and the dreaded “go directly to jail” card. The game was created as a way of showing that the consolidation of wealth is overall bad for the health of an economy. Nearly 1 billion copies of the game have been sold, and just as many explosive family arguments have been waged over the game.

Lionsgate has long tried to figure out a movie based on Monopoly, with another version of the project having Kevin Hart attached to star and Tim Story on board to direct. (Lionsgate extended its...

Jesse Plemons Says He Doesn’t “Regret” Gaining Weight For A Role, But Isn’t Sure He’d Do It Again: “Did Mess Me Up A Bit”
Image
An actor’s physicality is “one of the many strange things” about a career in performance, as Jesse Plemons says, and it’s not a quality he may try to manipulate any time soon.

In a recent profile with The Independent, the star of Netflix’s Zero Day reflected on having gained weight for 2015’s Black Mass, in which he portrayed a real-life mobster, admitting that he’s not sure the toll it took on him would be worth repeating.

“I never imagined getting to play a part like that,” he said. “[Gaining weight] was a decision I made at that age, given that opportunity for that director — and I was playing a real person. I don’t regret it. But it was very easy to put the weight on, and much more difficult taking it off. I don’t know if it’s something I would do again — because it did mess me up a bit.

‘As The World Turns’ Alum Billy Magnussen To Topline Untitled Jonathan Glatzer Series
Image
“As The World Turns” alum Billy Magnussen (ex-Casey Hughes), will topline the currently untitled Jonathan Glatzer Silicon Valley series for AMC and AMC+. Sarah Goldberg (“Barry”) was the first to be cast in the project.

According to Deadline, which first reported the news, the AMC Studios produced drama series is set inside the bubble of Silicon Valley, amid misguided corporate cultures, moony innovation labs and cutthroat private high schools. It is centered around a rift between a self-appointed “inventor of the future” tech CEO (Magnussen) and his self-serving “performance psychologist” (Goldberg), who is engulfed in a scandal sparked by the exploitation of personal data.

Along with Glatzer, the series will be executive produced by Gina Mingacci (“Killing Eve”) and is one of many high-profile Silicon Valley-set dramas put in development, but the first to receive a series order. A writer on such shows as “Succession” and “Better Call Saul,” among others,...

Why has the Hollywood Squares reboot premiere been preempted?

Drew Barrymore was set to take center square on the Hollywood Squares reboot premiere tonight, Thursday, Jan. 9. CBS has made a last-minute change to the schedule.

Due to the fires that are raging across Los Angeles right now, CBS has decided to change up the schedule a little. The Hollywood Squares reboot will no longer premiere tonight. We’ll get a full night of reruns instead.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage and Ghosts will get an extra hour of reruns tonight. We’ll have two hours of the two comedies, and then we’ll have a rerun of Matlock, as planned.

When will the Hollywood Squares reboot now premiere on CBS?

The premiere of Hollywood Squares will now air on Thursday, Jan. 16. That’s next Thursday. It was already set to be a night of reruns anyway, so it doesn’t disrupt the other shows. It’s an understandable reason...

‘Glass Casa’ Movie Review: A Hilarious And Tense One-Location Whodunit
Image
Who doesn’t love a good whodunit? The setting is usually so simple that you don’t expect anything to go wrong. The characters are relatable and only a little off-kilter to make you trust only your instincts. As soon as you start to settle in, something criminal happens, thereby sending everything into a state of chaos. And the best part is when it all comes together in the most satisfying, cathartic, and sometimes anticlimactic fashion imaginable. I have grown up reading and watching anything that’s related to Satyajit Ray’s Feluda. Which obviously means that I have read and watched almost everything that has “Sherlock Holmes” written on it. Amongst the more recent stuff, I think Game Night is a masterpiece. The Knives Out movies are excellent. Neeyat and A Haunting in Venice really caught me by surprise. Also, Bodies Bodies Bodies has to be one of the most subversive whodunits out there.

Maria Bakalova Teases 'Mayday' with Ryan Reynolds & Kenneth Branagh
Image
Maria Bakalova is everywhere. The talented Bulgarian actress has been seen in a swirl of new film and TV projects lately. Currently, the Dirty Angels star lends her voice as Princess Ilana Rostovic in Creature Commandos on Max, the first offering in James Gunn’s much-talked-about Dcu reboot. Earlier this year, Bakalova played Ivana Trump in The Apprentice, which just nabbed two Golden Globes nominations. Following the rollout of their more traditional holiday fare, Netflix is heading into “Die Hard” territory with the release of their Christmas-set action movie “Carry-On” — and it’s got a cast full of familiar faces.

Directed by “The Shallows” and “Non-Stop” filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra, the film follows a Tsa agent and wannabe cop who gets his chance to bring down the bad guys when a mysterious traveler blackmails him to get a dangerous package through airport security.

Here’s a handy guide to the “Carry-On” cast and where you might have seen them before.

10 Times I Was Shocked By How Good A Movie Was Even Though I Had Low Expectations
Image
As an ardent moviegoer, I love watching a movie with absolutely no prior knowledge about it. Sometimes, I'll even skip watching the trailer, so I can go into it completely blind. Experiencing a movie with no preconceived notions makes most films a surprise. However, sometimes you inevitably find out more about a movie beforehand, be it through trailers you watch in a movie theater or by word of mouth. Often they're negative things, but movies that exceed viewers' expectations aren't all that rare.

For example, after the disappointing Black Widow, and with the Infinity Saga over, I had no hopes for a good MCU film again, but I loved Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, one of the best movies of Marvel's Phase 4. Even when expectations aren't stunningly low, people can still be surprised, which is how Yuri! On Ice became one of the anime of the past decade that surpassed expectations,...

‘Sister Wives’ Kody Brown Scene Compared To ‘Honey Boo Boo’
Image
Sister Wives has had a long run with their nineteen seasons. During that time, there have been many comparisons of Meri, Janelle, Christine, Robyn, and Kody Brown to other people and shows. But after the latest episode, fans spot a specific scene that they can’t help but compare to the likes of Honey Boo Boo.

All The Drama

Without a doubt, TLC has the art of capturing drama in shows such as Sister Wives and Honey Boo Boo. In many cases, they become the trainwreck that fans can’t look away from. While some people think that Kody Brown and his crew are heading for the end of Sister Wives, others know how much viewers like to see the drama unfold. Long-time fans met Honey Boo Boo during Toddlers & Tiaras and could resist watching her and her family in Honey Boo Boo. Unmistakably, Honey Boo Boo was a...

How (And When) Bones Killed Off One Of Its Most Important Characters
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Fox struck gold with the crime procedural "Bones," a show that ran for a whopping 12 seasons and nearly 250 episodes. It's the kind of show that simply doesn't come around anymore in the streaming era. A lot of the show's success can be chalked up to the dynamic between the lead characters, namely Emily Deschanel's Brennan and David Boreanaz's Booth. But the show also had a stellar supporting cast, with perhaps none more beloved than Lance Sweets. Played by John Francis Daley, the character was a huge part of the show's success. Unfortunately, Sweets didn't go the distance.

As fans of the show are surely aware, Daley left "Bones" during season 10 as Sweets was killed off. Unfortunately, in a muder-of-the-week procedural, a beloved character is sometimes going to die. That's just the nature of the beast. But what exactly...

Jason Bateman Almost Directed One Of The Best Comedies Of The Century So Far
Image
"Game Night" is one of the best comedies of the last decade, a fantastic film following a group of friends who gather for a game night before the fun turns into a nightmare after one of them is kidnapped for real. Part mystery, part David Fincher's "The Game" (but played for laughs), and otherwise all-round mayhem, the movie features Rachel McAdams at her absolute best, one of the all-time greatest side characters in Jesse Plemons' Gary, and one of Jason Bateman's strongest performances.

However, Bateman almost had a very different role in the film, which he also produced. You see, the film went into development back in 2013 when New Line bought an original script by Mark Perez (which was likewise about a game night that goes wrong), and for much of that time Bateman was slated to direct the film. As the actor once told CinemaBlend, "I had...

Every Actor Cast In The Dcu's Green Lantern Show (So Far)
Image
The upcoming Green Lantern show, titled Lanterns, has already begun assembling a strong cast, raising anticipation for the Dcu installment. Everything that is known about Lanterns has come from the mouth of James Gunn himself as the filmmaker continues building the foundations of what will hopefully be DC's cinematic resurgence. Lanterns falls under the many movies and shows in the Dcu's Chapter One, titled "Gods and Monsters," and will be the first proper integration of the titular Green Lanterns into the universe after a brief tease in 2025's Superman.

When the show releases, the Dcu will have three Green Lanterns. As alluded to, the first will be Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner, making his Dcu debut in Superman. The other two heroes will be first introduced in Lanterns, with Gunn recently announcing the actors set to play the famous DC Green Lanterns of John Stewart and Hal Jordan. Alongside these two actors,...

Billy Magnussen Finally Snags a Superhero Role (Kind Of)
Image
Billy Magnussen is used to playing a beefcake. His first big job was on the soap opera As the World Turns. In Into the Woods, his version of Rapunzel’s Prince wore leather pants even when riding a horse. He served as the resident hunk among the ensembles in Game Night and The Big Short. These castings, flattering as they might be, haven’t always reflected the man himself, a classically trained actor who has a Tony nomination (for 2013’s Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike).

But in his latest role, Magnussen, 39, finally has found something a little more relatable, one that simultaneously fuels his character’s ego and leaves him plagued by self-doubt.

The satirical series The Franchise centers around the ill-fated production of a fictional superhero film whose big-budget snafus (an emergency pro-feminism rewrite, disputes over which actors get the biggest superpowers) poke fun at Hollywood’s IP obsession.

Video Interview: Bruce Campbell Talks 80s Satanic Panic and His New Role in Hysteria!
Image
Just in time for a Halloween binge, Hysteria! is now available on Peacock and, having seen most of the series already, I can definitely say that it's worth your time. An 80s-set horror story that doesn't feel like it's focused on nostalgia, Hysteria! has a great cast with great chemistry, and it really does a great job of building up its characters, including its supporting cast, which features Bruce Campbell as the chief of police in a town where satanic panic takes hold. During a recent press day, I caught up with Bruce Campbell, where we talked about his new role and his experience with satanic panic in the 1980s.

Synopsis: "When a beloved varsity quarterback disappears during the “Satanic Panic” of the late 1980s, a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts realize they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a...

Billy Magnussen Discusses Booster Gold Fan-Casting: “There’s this weird red tape around it”
Image
The DC Universe has numerous projects in the pipeline, including a TV series centered on Booster Gold. Currently, we have little information about the show other than its announcement, but James Gunn has stated that just because something is announced doesn’t guarantee it will be released.

A few months ago, credible sources began reporting that Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani was cast in the role, which disappointed some fans who felt he didn’t physically match the character.

This speculation is particularly heightened given that fans have favored actors like Antony Starr and Chris Pratt for the role. Nanjiani has frequently been seen with James Gunn and the Superman cast at various events, fueling further rumors.

Recently, James Gunn shared an image showcasing the confirmed roles for the DC Universe, which included Nanjiani as Booster Gold. When asked if this was a confirmation of Nanjiani’s casting, Gunn responded with a clear “no.

Billy Magnussen Talks Booster Gold Fan-Casting: “There’s this weird red tape around it”

Dcu has plenty of projects in development, just one of many is a TV series focusing on Booster Gold. We know nothing about the show at this point, only that it’s been announced. However, James Gunn recently said that just beacuse something was announced, doesn’t mean it’s going to get released.

A couple of months ago, credible sources started reporting that ‘Eternals’ actor Kumail Nanjiani has been cast in the role. Fans were disappointed since Nanjiani doesn’t physically fit with the role.

Especially in light of the fact that actors such as Antony Starr and Chris Pratt have been put as the favorites for the role by fans. Nanjiani has been often seen with James Gunn and the cast of ‘Superman’ at other events which further strengthened the speculations.

A few days ago James Gunn shared an image with all confirmed roles for the Dcu so far,...

Terrorist Jason Bateman Terrorizes Taron Egerton in Teaser for Netflix Christmas Movie ‘Carry-On’
Image
Jason Bateman has gone real no-more-Mr. Nice Guy on us.

The “Ozark,” “Horrible Bosses,” and “Game Night” star puts on a domestic-terrorist face (and hat) in the teaser for Netflix Christmas movie “Carry-On.” It’s, ah, not exactly “Elf.”

In “Carry-On,” before Bateman can terrorize a Christmas Eve flight, he first must make Taron Egerton’s job a living hell. Oh, and he might just kill the young Tsa agent’s significant other, played by Sofia Carson, as well.

“One bag for one life,” is Bateman’s blackmail offer.

We’re guessing he doesn’t have Clear.

Basically, Bateman targets Egerton to let his mysterious suitcase through the security scanners and onto the airplane. We don’t quite know (yet) what is in the package, but considering the gunfire and Tom Cruise-esque sprinting through the airport, Bateman’s cargo is probably a bit worse than nail clippers.

“There’s...

Rachel McAdams Eyeing Role In Sam Raimi Horror Thriller Movie Send Help
Image
Anybody down for a Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness reunion? No, we've not got confirmation of a Doctor Strange 3 directed by Sam Raimi just yet (although we do live in hope) — but we are getting word that one of the stars of the Evil Dead director's first foray into the MCU could be about to team up on a new horror thriller. According to Deadline, Rachel McAdams is circling a starring role in Send Help, a 20th Century Studios chiller on which Raimi will serve as both producer and director.

As we reported back in July, Send Help — based on an original script from Baywatch writing duo Damian Shannon and Mark Swift — is currently being pitched as an island-set two-hander that falls somewhere between Rob Reiner's Misery and Robert Zemeckis' Cast Away. Further details on the plot however remain strictly under wraps at this point in time,...

Rachel McAdams Circling Sam Raimi’s Horror-Thriller ‘Send Help’
Image
Rachel McAdams is in talks to star in Sam Raimi’s Send Help, the horror-thriller from 20th Century Studios, which he is producing and directing.

Sources tell us that these negotiations are in early stages, and nothing is definite at this point. The news follows Deadline’s exclusive earlier in July, which broke the news that Raimi had boarded the project not officially greenlit by the studio.

Billed as a two-hander horror-thriller set on an island, the story is somewhere between Rob Reiner’s Stephen King adaptation Misery and Robert Zemeckis’ classic Castaway. Send Help is based on an original script by Baywatch scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Zainab Azizi will also produce under the Raimi Productions banner, and the film is expected to nab a theatrical release.

Disney did not respond to requests for comment.

A preeminent multi-hyphenate, Raimi is known as an influential genre producer and filmmaker,...
