For many years Pierce Brosnan has taken control of his own legacy through his production company Irish DreamTime. He's had some mixed results but the bottom line is that he has remained a popular, consistently working leading man. Brosnan's hi-tech thriller "I.T." was released in 2016 with a limited theatrical run that apparently didn't generate any substantial business. The film has been released on Blu-ray where it has been largely savaged by reviewers. Having watched the film, I'll dare to go in the opposite direction and swim against the tide. I found the film to be thoroughly entertaining and very slickly made with rich production values that mask its relatively modest budget.
Brosnan is well-cast as Mike Regan, a mega-wealthy industrialist who is gambling everything he has on the launch of a bold new enterprise. Essentially, it's an Uber-like service that caters to rich executives who need...

Actor Michael Nyqvist has died at the age of 56, his family announce.
Some very sad news to report this morning. Actor Michael Nyqvist has died, at the age of just 56. He had been battling lung cancer, and he passed away from the disease in Stockholm on Tuesday. He is survived by his wife and his two children. Our thoughts are very much with them at this difficult time.
We hope that take some solace from the incredible body of work that he left behind. He sprung to international fame off the back of his work in the original The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo movie and its subsequent sequels, playing the role of Mikael Blomqvist in the Millennium trilogy. Off the back of that, the number of Hollywood movies he landed increased, and thus he appeared in films such as John Wick, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol,...

Austin Swift isn’t too bothered by his big sister Taylor having most of the spotlight.
In fact, the 25-year-old actor, who has had small roles films such as Live by Night and I.T., says it has taught him how to go about creating his own career.

The stars of yesterday now are making three films a year you never knew existed until they show up on Netflix.^ Real Movie ^
In my prior life as a script reader, I certainly read a lot of bad scripts, but at times, an even more common occurrence was a script that seemed to do a great many things right, but somehow fell just short of being something you wanted to champion as a movie. As draining as the terrible scripts were, there’s something pure about clear-cut bad. It takes little effort to explain why they’re unfit.
The real challenges were the scripts that had kind of a decent premise, kind of an okay twist or two, and a lead character who wasn’t bad so much as he or she was just… there. The raw materials are there for what Could be a script. They just happen to be assembled in the least compelling way...

Pierce Brosnan lacks the requisite Neeson-like conviction for this blundering conspiracy caper
A techno-thriller for people a bit intimidated by their smartphone, I.T. is a dull-witted movie that pits Pierce Brosnan’s millionaire businessman Mike Regan against troubled computer genius Patrick (Jason Barry). When Patrick is rebuffed by Regan’s daughter, he turns the family’s hi-tech house against them. Brosnan lacks the conviction of Liam Neeson when it comes to the middle-aged badass genre.

When his daughter complains about their home’s dodgy Internet connection, high-flying executive Mike Regan (Pierce Brosnan) brings in I.T. guy Ed (James Frecheville). Overestimating the breadth of their friendship – by assuming that they have one – the spurned tech guy turns stalker, using his computer skills to infiltrate and attack the family on every level. They’re gonna need a better firewall.
It may have a grizzled, craggy former James Bond as the lead, but this is no Taken riff. In spite of its ultra high-tech trappings, I.T. is a remarkably old-fashioned stalker movie, reminiscent of the likes of Prey, Pacific Heights, One Hour Photo or, um, The Cable Guy. A Good Day to Die Hard director John Moore is back with a predictably dull tech thriller which manages to underwhelm rather than thrill. This psychological drama which stars Pierce Brosnan and Anna Friel – yet despite the cast’s best efforts, I.T falls short of providing any kind of hook and ultimately fails to keep the audience on its side for long enough for anyone to care about what is happening on screen as the narrative unfolds.
Sounding more Irish and looking more menacing than usual, Brosnan is Mike Regan, a self-made aviation millionaire planning to expand his empire by launching an Uber-style app for private jets. Regan seems to have it all, a dutiful wife (Anna Friel), a beautiful teenage daughter (Stefanie Scott) and a modern state-of-the-art smart home with all mod cons. However, things start to go terribly wrong when the firm’s I.

In case you were wondering, yes, Taylor Swift's brother is still incredibly attractive (and may be getting even more attractive by the day). Austin Swift got our hearts pounding as he posed on the red carpet for the premiere of his latest film, Live By Night, Monday at Hollywood's Tcl Chinese Theater. He looked dapper in a navy blue Gucci suit, which made his piercing blue eyes pop, topping it off with a trimmed beard that only heightened the look. After making his acting debut in I.T. last year, this new, Ben Affleck-directed movie is Austin's latest gig in which he plays a character named Mayweather beside big names such as Elle Fanning, Sienna Miller,...

I.T. is one of those VOD sleepers you expect absolutely nothing from, yet – in the most base-value sense – John Moore’s creepy tech-driven thriller gets the job done. Scenes may feel like a tutorial in suspense and predictable plot movement, but Pierce Brosnan is just too damn smooth to ignore (like that matured, smokey Scotch he’s sipping on above).
Age hasn’t dampened this ex-Bond stud’s charms in the least, and he works well as a billionaire family man who turns primal when some jabroni threatens the ones he loves. Admittedly, you won’t be challenged by material here, but minimal genre satiation is achieved through “Peeping Tom” surveillance and satirical warnings directed towards our own internet-obsessed lifestyles.
Hey, not everything can be a five-star experience – there’s a time and place for a Burger King quickie.

Since nowadays we can’t go two seconds without checking our cell phones and everyone seems to be spending enormous amounts of time online, cautionary tales about our overdependence on technology have suddenly become all the rage. I.T. is the latest, very modest entry into this little subgenre. Mike Regan (Pierce Brosnan in full “rich bastard” mode) is an aviation tycoon living in an inmaculate, top-of-the-line smart house with wife Rose (a wasted Anna Friel) and daughter Kaitlyn (Stefanie Scott). He has it all, until he makes the mistake of inviting over his company’s weird I.T. guy Ed Porter (James Frecheville), in appreciation for saving his behind during a work presentation. Ed, of course, is a loon with a few screws loose and pretty soon he...

Like brother, like sister. As Austin Swift makes his foray into Hollywood, the budding actor hopes to remain level-headed and down-to-earth - something he's watched big sister Taylor Swift do as she shot to superstardom through the years. "When we were kids, I saw Taylor write songs every day for years when there was no one to play them to," Swift, 24, who has a small role in the thriller I.T. (currently in select theaters), tells People exclusively. When Swift was in middle school, he spent his spring break in Nashville "watching her go door-to-door dropping off demo CD's at labels...

Plot: An air transport tycoon (Pierce Brosnan) has his world turned upside-down by a psychotic I.T. consultant (James Frecheville). “I.T.” is basically one of those “Psycho acts benign as he/she befriends innocent family before turning out to be a psycho” thrillers that the ’90s loved to pump out. “Single White Female”, “The Hand That Rocks The Cradle” (Rip Curtis Hanson), take your pick. Only this time, the beat-by-beat predictable story comes with a techie slant, as an unhinged I.T.

Welcome back to the Weekend Warrior, your weekly look at the new movies hitting theaters this weekend, as well as other cool events and things to check out.
This Past Weekend:
Yikes. What a terrible weekend we just had, not only for the new movies released but also for the Weekend Warrior’s predictions. Clint Eastwood and Tom Hanks’ Sully won its second weekend in a row with just under $22 million, but as far as the new movies, neither Lionsgate’s Blair Witch nor Universal’s Bridget Jones’s Baby did very well, putting the last nail in the coffin (hopefully) for sequels/remakes trying to play upon nostalgia that just isn’t there. (Good luck to the Rings movie opening next month!) Blair Witch ended up with $9.6 million to take second place and both Bridget Jones’s Baby and Oliver Stone’s Snowden ended up with around $8 million, so...

Premiere magazine highlighted 10 movie executives to watch in 1990. So what happened to them?
In its May 1990 issue, the sadly-missed Us version of Premiere magazine published an article, highlighting ten young movie executives, and suggesting that these were people with very big futures ahead of them in the industry.
Given that much is written about movie executives, without actually digging much deeper to find out who they actually are, I thought it was worth tracing what happened to these ten, and – 26 years later – whether Premiere was correct in saluting them as the future of the industry. So, er, I did...

Clip It: Each day, Jon Davis looks at the world of trailers, featurettes and clips and puts it all in perspective. I.T. is one of those movies that feels like some rich film executives read some articles about Instagram and Snapchat and realized a whole generation has grown up never knowing a world without the Internet and were, like, "Oh my god, this is scary, these kids and their selfies!" And to them, the idea of a 20-something dating their daughter and stealing their multi-national company is really scary. But once they hit upon the notion that this must be frightening for everyone, I think that's where this project took a wrong turn. Pierce Brosnan is your typical every man. Billionaire. Has aged well. Owns a plane company. Just like you and me! He just doesn't know much about the Internet, so he hires a super smart kid, and then...

Not to be confused with Stephen King’s horror masterclass, the first trailer for John Moore’s techno-thriller I.T. has booted online.
Arriving to us via Yahoo Movies, the slick and striking sizzle reel places Pierce Brosnan in the shoes of well-to-do businessman Mike Regan, one comfortably at the top of his game with more money than sense. Housed up in his own futuristic version of Fort Knox, Regan’s home is ripped straight from a George Orwell novel, with scores of cameras and smart devices littering all four corners of this ultra-modern abode.
Enter Ed. He’s an unremarkable technician who is given unprecedented access into Regan’s family life after lending his CEO a helping hand when a board meeting goes south. But in true action-thriller fashion, I.T. devolves into a spat between Ed and Regan, with the former launching a full-scale digital attack on Pierce Brosnan’s hapless family man.

"Change everything – passwords, codes – secure this place!" Another one of these. Rlj Entertainment has released the first official trailer for a film called I.T. (already a boring title), a technology thriller about a successful business owner whose life is sabotaged by a mentally deranged It guy. Pierce Brosnan stars, along with James Frecheville, Anna Friel, Stefanie Scott, Michael Nyqvist, and Jason Barry. This is yet another fear-mongering "technology is scary!" movies, where it seems like the people behind it don't even actually understand how most of this technology works. Of course the It guy is creepy, and of course this is from the same guy who made A Good Day to Die Hard. I don't recommend it, only if you're curious.
