While animated sci-fi series “Rick and Morty” began as a hallucinatory “Back to the Future” riff, in its second season on Adult Swim it’s turned more Philip K. Dick in its trippy embrace of alternate realities and alien worlds. Sociopathic scientist Rick Sanchez enlists naive grandson Morty in a series of mind-bending, intergalactic adventures, putting their dysfunctional family in continuous peril.
For creators Justin Roiland (“Adventure Time” voice actor) and Dan Harmon (“Community” creator), the first season was all about the crazy inventions, while the second concentrated more on exploration. “We’re trying to make sure that we never paint ourselves into a corner conquering the nihilism of an infinite universe,” said Harmon.
The comedy is both smart and low-brow with scattered sci-fi and other pop cultural references along with plenty of sex and scatological humor.
The flat animation style, meanwhile, evokes both “The Simpsons” and “The Ren & Stimpy Show.

Secret Cinema seriously puts on the greatest movie screening events ever! We previously showed you what their Back to the Future event was like, and after that, we got word that they were organizing one for Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back in London.
These geek events are organized by a team of people who essentially recreate the movie for you to experience. It's a completely interactive experience. Viewers come dressed up as their favorite characters, and there's even role playing involved.
The whole thing is a big secret and they tell people who want go to look for clues. For example, for this one, registrants were told to "look out for a secret code on forgotten buildings." The invite itself read:
Earth is the system. We are seeking rebels from around the world to join the Rebel Alliance and head to a Secret City where they will...

Foxtel is supremely confident subscribers won.t desert the full-service pay TV model in favour of the far cheaper streaming services.
CEO Richard Freudenstein predicts the vast majority of Australian homes will have either Foxtel or an Svod service and many homes will have both.
Dismissing the threat from Netflix, Stan and Presto amid analyst reports that 2.1 million homes are watching Svod platforms, he said, .Even if all those customers were paying, the total revenue for all Svod services would be only around $150 million per year. That doesn.t provide much for programming investment compared to Foxtel.s (or free to air) programming budgets..
Addressing an Australia Israeli Chamber of Commerce lunch, he said, .The best analogy for Svod services is they are the digital video store. People who used to supplement free to air viewing by renting the occasional DVD are now doing so by using an Svod service.

ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Aftershocks TV Show Review. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., season 2, episode 11, ‘Aftershocks,’ focused (appropriately enough) on picking up the pieces of Skye’s (Chloe Bennet) re-emergence, as a character (after some brief consideration, about owning Daisy Johnson). That left the team dealing with the Secret City ruins, the loss of [...]

DC Comics takes another opportunity to update the origin of the Dark Knight for the New 52 with Batman Volume 4: Zero Year - Secret City. The book collects issues 21 through 24 of the monthly title and Batman Zero Year: The Director's Cut #1. If you're worried about getting a repeat of Frank Miller's Batman: Year One, you can leave your reservations at the door.
Gotham City is entering a new era shrouded in mystery. A masked vigilante dubbed the Batman has declared war against the criminals overrunning the metropolitan. A gang led by a crook calling himself the Red Hood rise up to wreak havoc and take control of the corrupt underground.
Writer Scott Snyder takes the origin of Batman in a different direction that proves to be as entertaining as Frank Miller's critically acclaimed Year One. It's hard not to make comparisons, but the two stories do have different atmospheres.

DC Comics
Dark City is the second act in Zero Year, the New 52 Batman origin story, set between Secret City, the first act, where Batman fought the Red Hood Gang and where the New 52 Joker seemingly gets his origin, and the forthcoming third and final act beginning next month, Savage City.
And what an amazing ride it’s been so far! Anyone who doubted Scott Snyder was somehow going to botch Batman’s origins or that another Batman origin was pointless or that it’d somehow tarnish Frank Miller/David Mazzucchelli’s Year One, have been proved wrong by the highly original, incredibly imaginative story that Snyder and Greg Capullo have created in Zero Year.
In Dark City, the Riddler, aka Edward Nygma, has blacked out Gotham City and, while Batman struggles to hunt down Riddler and restore power, a mad scientist nicknamed Doctor Death is murdering Wayne Enterprises research staff.
