    Ad Pandemic

For the record this is case 63 an audio drama that is equal parts story and advertisements.

Spotify have taken a great premise involving real life elements such as COVID 19, Social Media and chance encounters then combined it with mystery, an outstanding cast and wrapped it all up in a great big package of adverts.

After recent events such as the pandemic the future described in case 63 is all to real and adds a real sense of peril and urgency to the mission of the protagonist. The story it's self is engaging and presented in small bite size chunks that encourage you to binge through the series in an entire sitting. It's easy to imagine the events portrayed in this audio drama are our future which brings a lot to an already exciting story!

The cast do a fantastic job making you believe their characters are real and you can't help but become entangled with them and the dilemmas they face.

While listening it's very easy to visualise what is happening and it's very easy to imagine this making a great film or limited TV series.

There is however one major let down! The hard work by the cast, writer and production team is severely let down by the studio and the platform.

As the episodes are short Spotify have used this as an opportunity to flood the listener with as many adverts as possible! The length of the advertisements at the beginning and end of each episode become intrusive after the second episode and interfere with the flow of the series when listening through.

I can't help but think that what is otherwise a great piece of audio drama has been spoiled by Spotifys corporate greed.

    Screenplay ✅

Superb premise & the cast engagement was second to none.... This could prove to be the stepping-off point for a new generation of entertainment... The initial premise had be bermused but engaged..... whilst i knew the first voice that delivered a timbre of meaningful inquisition, the second voice had me struck with a degree of familiarity & complete sincerety (maybe I'm a sucker). Post IMDB research my mind became more attuned to the visual imagery & the low cost of production for a sensational franchise. No need to recast, the team who pulled this together myst surely know the "right" people 😁😁

You'd be crazy not to listen.

This podcast is more like the old style radio shows before television took over our lives. And while you are free to move around and attempt to get things done while listening to this, you might as well sit, lay, or just go for a walk...otherwise you'll miss things. Season two is just as good as season one since it's merely a continuation, with a third on the way.

Oscar Isaac is great at everything he does and this is no different. You can tell he's a tad less comfortable at times than Julianne Moore with it being pure audio, but he delivers some of his most solid work here. He could read the dictionary and make it interesting. Julianne dives into her character as usual and gives raw vibes. You truly almost believe the story. I became weepy and had to pause at times because it felt so real and important, possible even. And though I didn't care for their blatant lie about how covid started considering the evidence we now know to be true, they did a good job with making everything else, including time travel, believable.

This could easily be made into a movie, but it can more easily be listened to time and time again.
