As Goose the Cat has stolen the show in Captain Marvel, we pick 10 fiendish felines from past films
Orion is a ginger-and-white puss who sees his beloved can-opener, an elderly Manhattan jeweller called Rosenburg, being murdered by a giant cockroach-like alien called Edgar, and refuses to leave the old man’s corpse. The cat’s loyalty to the dead man is genuinely moving in a sci-fi comedy that otherwise opts for flippancy. But Rosenburg had a secret and so does his cat. Spoiler! Hanging from the collar around Orion’s neck is a bauble that turns out to contain the missing galaxy for which everyone in the film has been searching.

She plays Ali Davis, a successful sports agent who’s constantly boxed out by her male colleagues. When she is passed up for a well-deserved promotion, she questions what else she needs to do to succeed in a man’s world… until she gains the ability to hear men’s thoughts. With her newfound power, Ali looks to outsmart her colleagues as she races to sign the next basketball superstar, but the lengths she has to go to will put her relationship with her best friends and a potential new love interest (Aldis Hodge) to the test.

Incaa, Argentina’s public-sector film-tv agency which partners the Cannes Film Festival and Market on Ventana Sur, is talking up the results of its freemium VOD platform, cine.ar, one of a clutch of pioneering attempt at digital distribution by a national film institute.
The site hosts Argentine films, documentaries, series and shorts in order to promote their work and to seek out new audiences that might otherwise not have access to such content, both domestically and abroad.
Originally called Orion, in its three short years of existence, the service has proved a real success for Incaa, said Ralph Haiek, Incaa president. who presented the service at last month’s Malaga Festival.
The service currently boasts one-million total subscribers with high usability; more than five-million films have been streamed. Added up, those numbers make Cine.ar the largest native VOD platform in Argentina.

Disney and Marvel's Black Panther continued its box office domination this weekend, becoming only the fourth film to ever deliver over $100 million in its second weekend as well as joining Jurassic World as the second fastest film to top $400 million domestically. Meanwhile, the weekend's new wide releases finished mostly as expected with WB's release of New Line's Game Night leading the way with a second place finish while Paramount's Annihilation landed in fourth and Orion's Every Day finished within the top ten. With an estimated $108 million, Black Panther delivered the second largest second weekend of all-time, improving on Jurassic World's $106.5 million second weekend back in June 2015. Black Panther's domestic gross now stands at $400 million, which places it alongside Jurassic World as the second fastest film to top $400 million domestically. However, given the way Black Panther has been outperforming estimates since release, don't be surprised to...

As a child, the notion of romance to me was distant and adult, and frankly I wanted no part of it – especially in movies; I was the comedy and horror kid, with the occasional foray into fantasy. (Okay, I kissed Bev Peters on the cheek under the schoolyard tire when I was seven, but that fizzled out quickly.) I did however make my way to my small town’s Orpheum theatre at the age of nine to see what looked like a promising horror/sci-fi blend, Nicholas Meyer’s Time After Time (1979), and stumbled out into the darkness with a new understanding of what romance meant to me.

The irrepressible Robin Williams is Joey, a trash-talking Cadillac salesman with three women on the line, who becomes an involuntary hero when Tim Robbins smashes his motorcycle into the car showroom and threatens to kill everybody. When we heard Asiel Norton, director of the brilliant art-house western Redland (Review), was working on a post-apocalyptic fairy tale called Orion, we knew it would be something special. That was more than two years ago, when the film's star David Arquette tweeted a crazy photo of himself dressed up like a junkyard Zardoz. We weren't really sure what to think, but we still had faith the film would be wholly original.
Now that we've obtained the first footage from Norton's film, we think it's safe to say Orion is destined to be a transcendent experience.

The Addams Family could've been an easy project to bring to the screen. But the film, with Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston, was anything but
When we talk about difficult film productions, the same names seem to come through. Apocalypse Now and The Deer Hunter, for instance, are productions with well-told stories of how those behind the scenes went to proverbial hell and back. In more recent times, most of us are more than familiar with the hell that those behind World War Z went through to get it to the screen.
What I though would be a bit different though is take a generally very successful film, and dig a bit deeper to see if there was a troubled story there. One where behind the scenes issues are rarely talked about. Given that I've come to this piece straight after writing about 1991's movies, here, I settled on The Addams Family.

Courteney Cox will always have a soft spot for her ex-husband David Arquette. The Cougar Town actress and the Orion actor (parents to daughter Coco, 9) separated in October 2010 and finalized their divorce in May 2012. Thankfully, the exes are still friends. "When you love someone, you want them to be happy, even if it's not with you," Cox, 49, says in the February issue of More. The couple met on the set of 1996's Scream and tied the knot three years later. Cox admits that their marriage had its problems, and in hindsight, she might've done some things differently. "In divorce you always have regret," she explains. "We were married for a long time, so it's not like we...

For those of you who have been wondering what David Arquette has been up to these days, he's been working out, living in a junkyard, and wearing chains for clothes. The actor tweeted this photo of himself from the set of his post-apocalyptic film, Orion, wearing nothing but chains and a loincloth. It really doesn't look very comfortable. The photo came along with a note to his trainer saying, "Thanks for helping me get in shape for my film Orion."
This photo is my first exposure to this movie, and in it, Arquette plays a hunter searching for his missing brother. It also stars Lily Cole (Snow White and the Huntsman). I never imagined Arquette would do anything like this, but seeing is believing. What do you think of Arquette's new look? ...

The National Organization for Marriage has finally responded to getting spanked on all four marriage ballot issues nationally, and they're crying that they lost because they got outspent, which used to be how they won on ballot issues. I guess the mysterious shadowy figures who fund them are running low on cash? ""Obviously we are very disappointed in losing four tough election battles by narrow margins. We knew long ago that we faced a difficult political landscape with the four marriage battles occurring in four of the deepest-blue states in America. As our opponents built a huge financial advantage, the odds became even steeper. We ran strong campaigns and nearly prevailed in a very difficult environment, significantly out-performing the Gop ticket in every state."
