'The Regime' Trailer — Kate Winslet Has World Domination on Her Mind
Image
Kate Winslet is taking charge and ready to show the world what she’s made of in a teaser for HBO’s upcoming limited series, The Regime. While the show’s official logline first led us to believe that this would be a serious political drama, today’s peek, as well as the one that came before it, leans heavily into the realm of satire. And, as if Winslet wasn’t a big enough name to earn our interest, the call sheet also includes the likes of Matthias Schoenaerts (Rust and Bone), Hugh Grant (Wonka), Guillaume Gallienne, Andrea Riseborough (Mandy), and Martha Plimpton (Raising Hope).

The Palace: Everything We Know About The HBO Series Starring Kate Winslet And Hugh Grant
Image
Following her Emmy-winning performance in "Mare of Easttown," Kate Winslet is returning for a brand new series on HBO. The "Titanic" and "Avatar: The Way of Water" actress is leading the cast of "The Palace," which depicts a year in an authoritarian regime as its foundation begins to crumble within the walls of a palace. Hugh Grant is part of the cast alongside Winslet -- he was last seen in Netflix's "Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery" in a cameo appearance, playing Benoit Blanc's live-in partner.

"The Palace" is rocking talent behind the scenes too, with the writers of "Succession," "The Menu," and "Bodies Bodies Bodies" working with the directors of "The Crown" and "The Queen."

While their characters, the plot, and filming details are being kept under wraps, here's everything we know -- as yet -- about HBO's "The Palace."

Trans Drama ‘Girl’ Wowed Cannes, but Can It Impress American Audiences?
Victor Polster in Girl (2018)
No film won more prizes at the Cannes Film Festival this year than “Girl,” an intimate portrait of Lara, a transgender teenager whose all-consuming desire to be a ballerina is held back by the fact that she was born into a boy’s body.

Directed by Belgian newcomer Lukas Dhont, the film wowed three juries, earning the Caméra d’Or for best first feature, the Queer Palm for best Lgbt-themed film and a gender-blind prize for best performance in the Un Certain Regard section. Netflix snapped up North American rights with an eye to a fall awards-season theatrical release.

But Netflix may find it has a tough sell on its hands.

International audiences have different attitudes toward transgender representation than Americans do, and early reactions from U.S. critics have raised red flags that the festival darling may encounter a pricklier reception when it opens in this country.

The recent...
