Heartwarming and colourfull
margaritdk2 January 2023
One of the cutest films I've ever seen.

All that summerish heartwarming color combinations...oh my, absolutely loved it ❤ There are not so many movies on anxiety topic so it was nice to finally discover one.

One of the best scenes for me was the one where one of the girls tells Sole that she can't believe Sole has anxiety, as she behaves normal, is going out quiet often and having fun. Soles response is that anxiety does not always mean to crawl up and cry all day long. That's a common misconception, people use to think that the ones with anxiety are always afraid of everything and totally lack communication skills. Fortunately it's just a misconception and this movie pictures it very good.

Allora! It had promise at the start..

Warning: Spoilers
I felt like I resonated with Sole a little, she had normal fears like getting a job and figuring out what she wanted to do with her life. And the scenes where she imagines that everyone is judging her were pretty realistic to me. The breaking of the forth wall was kind of overkill but that didn't stop me from watching.

The connections she made with her new friends and potential love interest Danio felt too rushed. I would have loved to see these relationships fully fleshed out so we could see why they happened. The last 10 minutes of the movie, she turns down Massimo (the guy she's been pining for her whole life) and realises she likes Danio.

However I did like how her fear of flying was handled. It was pretty realistic that her biggest fear wouldn't be conquered in one day and that she didn't have to rush into something she wasn't ready for. Sole's relationship with her mother is pretty sour but we don't know why and see no resolution to this. She doesn't answer when her mother asks why she wants to go to Rome. Indeed, we as the audience don't really know what plans she has in terms of her future. She likes to draw but even though it seems obvious to pursue this again, she doesn't.

I don't really know where this review is going, but I guess my point is the movie definitely had promise in terms of storyline and direction but it lacked a little something and the relationships needed more time to seem plausible. I don't know if I'd watch this movie again - it wasn't horrible just not great.

Relatable and waiting for Part 2!

An adorable movie that so many can relate with for those who suffer from anxiety. I found myself smiling at so many scenes. From the beautiful coastal town that they live in, to the friendships she has made. Does Danio follow her to Rome? We need a Part 2!! Would love to see a follow up with Danio and Massimo. Does she go back to school? This actress reminds me so much of Natalie Wood. She must get that alot. There were so many scenes that were so relatable. As someone who suffers from anxiety, I completely understood what she was feeling. There need to be more movies like this one that breaks the stigma of mental health and remind us how we're all wanting love and friendships too. Just a bit harder for some of us. 10/10 review.

A heartwarming film

Warning: Spoilers
While this movie may be light entertainment to some who gave it tepid reviews, it is more poignant to those of us who are all too familiar with anxiety and its day-to-day limitations. Seeing a film address it head-on as something with which the protagonist deals is important. Moreover (SPOILER AHEAD) as a woman with Alopecia, it was also poignant for me to see one of the characters develop it and shave her head. While the film may not be full of action and complexities in the plotline, it deals with complex characters who deal with nuanced issues. The actors did the story justice. A longer film would have given more nuance, but this, as it is, is worth watching.

People can't guess your thoughts; you need to speak them out.

To be honest, it was only after watching the entire movie that I truly understood the meaning of the film's title, 'Jumping from High Places.' Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I grasped that, as someone who has gone through adolescence, entered the workforce, and interacted with all sorts of people, the space between the unknown and vulnerability can often be seen as being distant or 'high and mighty' when viewed from an outsider's perspective. That's what 'High Places' means to me. And 'Jumping' represents the director's message, conveyed through Federica Torchetti's various life experiences, that it's all about 'commitment.' Regardless of regrets or missed opportunities, true feelings and personal aspirations can only be realized through full commitment. (Especially with that handsome actor Cristiano in the latter part of the movie.) I would recommend this indie film to every teenager out there.

Love this movie - Anxiety can crippled you - Sole overcame her fears!
Diane10482 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
My feelings on this are that there was an instant attraction between Sole and Danio when they locked eyes for the first time. He was nursing a broken heart from a breakup, and she was floundering around in a panic attack because of her anxiety issues. During the movie they consoled each other. Their onscreen chemistry was brilliantly portrayed by both actors.

I loved this movie because Sole had good people around her and because of this she overcame lots of her anxiety issues and got to do normal everyday activities.

I hope for 2nd sequel movie to see if Danio follows Sole to Rome where she is residing with her/his friends.
