By far the best episode of the season, character development, storyline development, and perhaps one of the most bombshell endings. I was riveted, trust the process on this one cause the beginning is a bit confusing. Acting was great from the whole cast, more than a few laughs, and surprisingly a few heartfelt moments.

Now this section is dedicated to IMDb. I'm making this a very, very, very, very long review because of the new rule established for review character length, courtesy of the IMDb staff. I'm glad to report that you can absolutely trust that this review is credible and relevant based solely on the fact that it contains at least 600 characters.

Interesting direction
critic-97-4176571 September 2022
I was wondering where the opening of this episode would lead and, sure enough, it took us to an interesting ending. Sure has the potential of taking this show in a different direction. One thing is, I thought Harry mostly accepted that he's becoming more empathetic towards humans. I suppose the emphasis of his alienness has to do with the unfolding of this episode's story.

Really enjoying the show's quirkiness and humour.

One small goof in the editing. Not sure if it was intentional or not, but the name of the town of Ladysmith was clearly visible on the side of the building in one scene. Ladysmith, BC is where much of the outdoor filming for the show is done. Clearly not Colorado.

Glad to see it has been renewed for a third season already.

Never saw this coming

Maybe I am not that imaginative, but this episode was a complete surprise. This is a terrific show that works best when the alien and Asta are interacting. The two actors have great chemistry and I don't mean in a sexual way. I did not expect to like this show, as I didn't get it at first. Now that I understand what is happening and the humor as well as the heartwarming story line, I LOVE it. I could use less of the mayor and his wife. I also don't like the angst that the alien hunters bring to the show. The show doesn't need it. You already have the attack of the other aliens. The strength of this show is the relationships of the people and the realization of what it means to be human. Keep up the good work.

Well-connected

I'm generally good at seeing twists but I genuinely didn't see this one coming. And this was the kind of twist that was not forced, in fact one that linked everything together in the entire season. Congrats to the writers.

The episode is also generally funny. I would say above TV dramedy average but below the show's overall average.

I have read some reviews and I'm baffled how some users are watching the show. Social and environmental issues are as much part of life as everything else and someone will get triggered over the morally better choice they see in an episode of a TV comedy, that's a pretty sad turn of events.

trite morals

Warning: Spoilers
The last few episodes have at least been funny, or trying to be. I like harry and the kids interaction, still funny, sheriff Mike and Dept Liv are funny as is the stuff going on with Torres and this show desperately needs the comedy as the story is so aimless.

I strongly disliked every time they get the girls together to discuss a social issue, this time being preserving the old town feel from the evil corporations. It was just so without any depth or grounding. We get it, corps bad, small town people good, but coming from hollywood money, maybe not in a position to comment.

Some of the smaller characters are able to fill the comedy slots. Nurse Ellen is pretty funny, and give props to Harry, he's delivering quite a bit of quality comedy in his delivery although it's all the same jokes, they're good jokes. Going to be hard to keep it going if the show goes to its 3rd season. I certainly don't want to sit through more social issues with a straight face episodes, and they're running out of mileage on many of the joke hits they've got. Ie the mayor and his wife, and what ever is going on with old age sarah connor. That story line isn't delivering at all.

Not sure what was up with the peeks into the future segments. They didn't really land a point yet.

Why?
addresscanonlybe30letter24 September 2022
Why the hell are we watching activist twitter? I'm watching a comedy about aliens. I don't care how you feel about mining companies. I don't care how you feel about ski resorts (as if these useless stores don't go to resorts themselves). I don't care about your activist nonsense.

It's a comedy. About aliens.

Stop lecturing me. Go away.

We don't need 25 minutes an episode about all the social justice anti capitalist BS that the writers couldn't get out on twitter.

More story. More jokes. Less woke idiocy. I do t even know how I made this far, honestly.

Stop ruining everything good.

The end.

Barely 25% of the show is about the story, 75% agenda and boring soap opera
thundercockreborn3 September 2022
I won't say who is doing what but from the 1st 4 minutes they are talking about "environmental Justice", "equality", "destroying the Earth", "poisoning the rivers", then 2 minutes of the actual story with the alien then back to the agenda with saying how mining companies are bad, hiding leaks. All with nothing to do with the story. Just agenda talking points over and over with a little story mixed in with completely unrealistically smart kids with insight few adults would have. The main story with the alien is also about some bad drug company. See the constant "capitalism is bad" theme over and over?

This show is 75% "The Message" talking points with little story and the rest just a soap opera about the women. There is only about 10 minutes of the actual story in the 44 minute show, so less than 25% worth watching, the rest boring and lecturing people.

Starting to jump the shark!
Marynewcomb201326 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was probably the worst, full episode of this series!! The lone writer, (creator of series, comic book writers & the numerous "edit writers don't count towards this episode) has no clue how to write anything that is not pushing an agenda for progressives!! They had the men being the least intelligent big time on this episode! The mayors wife was only one rung up! The women of color were the ones who were wrote to be the "more intelligent"!!

They don't want a ski resort because they don't want to ruin their environment they live in! They don't care that the town truly has no future without making it thrive!! They want to keep what's under the bridge, you can!! If the writer would learn what they are writing about over pushing agendas, they would have known the bridge could be widened without messing what's underneath!! Having Harry turnout to be Goliath is where it's jumping the shark!!

The Alien Within
Prismark102 January 2023
Obviously the writers know that the show has been treading water. So they go for flash forwards and flashback to make out they are being clever.

Harry fears he has become too human and decides to snatch a kid. He hooks up with Sahar and go after the alien baby.

However they are too late. General Eleanor Wright suspected Max and monitored his conversations. They get hold of the alien baby.

Harry takes a pizza break rather than do anything urgent. Maybe that is the humanity part of him.

I can sense that Resident Alien has become an ensemble show. However I just find the Mayor and the Sheriff to be irritating characters.

Even the Halloween celebrations looked to intentionally quirky.

An Alien Within.
bombersflyup5 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A pretty poor mess of an episode, with an overwhelming level of immature writing and branched out, not at all focusing on the show's core. The characterization's so awful outside of Harry and Liv I guess. An example's Kate being friends with D'Arcy, despite her acting like a child and belittling her husband Ben during his presentation at the town meeting. Ellen's cringe and the kids are friggin terrible. Max use to be somewhat amusing in the beginning before Sahar came along, now he may as well not exist. Blah... not much content to discuss. Watch it for a bit of a laugh, but there's less and less of that.

Downwards trend
yrkki_8917 March 2024
Decent episode with a good twist. Sahars "intelligence" needs to be toned down it's becoming annoying instead of just unbelievable.

Episode is mostly about other things instead of the main point of the show, the alien, who is keeping this show interesting and funny with the actors brilliant job.

Good character development overall for the main characters, Astas actress is consistent in doing a great job. Filling the show with small town life is great and all, could do with a little less of the individual marital problems of a side characters who are not that interesting.

Ending saves the episode from being a 2 to a 4.
