The 1998 classics "Armageddon" and "Deep Impact" are some of my favorite movies about what the mankind as a whole and individuals could do when facing sudden extinction. This movie is like those two contemplating destructions of the planet by devastating asteroids. However, my wife compared it to 2012 "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" pointing at its poignant character. She had to explain to me what "poignant" meant, but I bet you knew. Regardless of that when watching this nice romantic, yet still dystopian science fiction one would have to ponder what to do when something like that is happening and only a few days of life would be left. There is no doubt that many people would be scared, panicking and yes, violent and selfish. The creators of this movie decided to put the usual, expected violence like portrayed in many other dystopian movies just on the sidelines. The story's spine is focused on developing the relationship between two young protagonists Michael and Rose who were put into such a situation by accidental extraordinary circumstances. My wife loved that, because she hates violence in science fiction dystopias.
I just love the title "When I'm Ready", because I am any time. Not only because I am old, but also because I prepared myself for the afterlife. I gained knowledge about the other side by intensive metaphysical preparation. I wish I would know all of that earlier in my younger years. I would be free of fear of dying, especially of sudden dying, and could have an even more fulfilling life than I had. That question about being ready is there for everyone, whether young or old. What about you? Are you ready? One day everyone will have to go. Believe me, if you can answer that question positively, "Yes, I am ready", you might find more happiness and fulfillment in your life than you have, whether asteroid or some similar catastrophe comes or not. Even though this new 2025 movie is an illusion indeed, it is a good time to see it and ponder for yourself. Besides that, it is a great entertaining romance for anyone.

I rarely write reviews but average score and a a review by one person made me do it because I think it was very unfair! My advice is to just ignore the score given here and don't listen to the guy who gave a score of 4 saying that it didn't make any impact on him and that the script was so bland and the actors performance were mediocre!
The main actors and the others did a great job! The stories told by the other characters were also appealing.
The movie is really sweet and beautiful and I've added it to the the list of my favorite movies!
Many great movies unfortunately never get the attention they deserve and this is certainly one of them!

I've seen several movies about the end of the world caused by a meteor or an asteroid. The most precious and emotionally gut-wrenching was definitely Lars von Trier's "Melancholia" (2011), hereby recommended for reference.
This movie didn't have to compete with a masterpiece, just with other movies, where people try to do something or find someone in the remaining days, and on the way find some sense, belonging, love.
But the script was so bland, it seemed they had run out of ideas of things that people could do or what could happen.
Then there were two mediocre actors who obviously had no lessons how to convey intimacy, nuances in their looks or use subtle gestures.
Conclusion: forgettable movie, possibly for a younger target audience that doesn't know any better.

For anyone who appreciates the art of filmmaking it is a MUST WATCH -I don't even like romance films. But for me this movie was captivating and so nuanced. I saw the bad review another person left. To me I disagree. No disrespect but the negative review seems lacking to me. This movie isn't "about a meteor" it's about a romance. It has Notebook meets Armageddon tones. For me the tension the looming possible end brings to this story: about young love is priceless. A must watch for any romantic movie fans. The acting in it is grounded and real. The cinematography is top notch. This wasn't a big budget giant production company film. It was an indie. And it plays much bigger.
