Essaying the character of Gayatri Kashyap, Diana Penty will be seen in an all new avatar. Being a social worker in a male dominated world of convicts and jail authorities was a mental challenge for the actress. Talking about the same, Diana said “Ngo workers have a lot of dedication and passion that I had to bring to my performance. It’s a misconception that it’s voluntary work so it doesn’t require any qualifications. Social workers like Gayatri are well-versed in sociology, psychology and criminal behaviour”.
The role of Gayatri Kashyap was first offered to Kriti Sanon, who walked out after the prep. Firefighting the situation, producer Nikkhil Advani then called Diana, who immediately said yes to the film after a reading with director Ranjit Tiwari. “I didn’t think...

Diana Penty, who returned to the big screen with Happy Bhag Jayegi after a gap of four years, is glad she waited it out. The Indo-Pak comedy, in which she played the exuberant titular character, has been declared a sleeper hit by industry pundits – and her performance, lauded for its sincerity and promise.
After Cocktail, her starry debut in 2012, the actor made the unusual decision to fly under the radar while she waited for her next project. “Cocktail was such a wonderful experience and the perfect launch vehicle. As a first time actor, it was helpful to play Meera, a character who was so much like me in real life.” Her second film, however, she knew, would need to push her. “I wanted to see if I could play a character who was as different from me as possible. Happy fit the bill perfectly.”
Penty does not regret the time-lapse between the two films.

13th July 2012 - This was the day when Cocktail released and elevated the status of its leading lady Deepika Padukone to a different level altogether. This isn't all as it also marked the arrival of another talented girl- Diana Penty.
15th July 2016 - Exactly four years after Cocktail, Diana would be returning to the big screen again. The film in question? Happy Bhaag Jaayegi.
"This is as uncanny as it gets," says an insider, "You can't plan such things, they just happen. To have a film release in the same weekend after a four year gap is a happy coincidence though. For those who are superstitious around when their films hit the screens, it is a bonanza no less to arrive in a similar zone when you first burst into the scene, and successfully so."

Music director Pritam Chakraborty has been instrumental in creating the amazing music of the movies in the Hindi film industry. Think of the incredible sound of the songs of Life in a Metro, the hits of all three Dhoom films, and the brilliant tunes of Jab We Met. Not to mention the wonderful tracks of Gangster and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani as well as the beats of Love Aaj Kal, Cocktail and of course the outstanding tracks of Barfi. And this is just to name a few highlights of the soundtracks he has composed!
Most recently, Pritam created the fabulous soundtrack to the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol action romance Dilwale, which is in theaters now. In fact, we loved the Ost and gave it 4 stars! (You can read the review here)

Tamasha is the solo release of the week and it couldn’t have been better timed. Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is seeing the end of its run and hence is not a formidable competition. Spectre hasn’t found the kind of appreciation that would warrant a challenging second weekend. The week ahead arrives Hate Story 3 which has a set audience for itself that is different from those who wish to catch Tamasha. The week after that is open with no notable release. This lends a three week window for the Imtiaz Ali film to make merry.
All of this brings to the all important point around the eventual content. Insider reports state that Tamasha is one of the finer films from Imtiaz Ali and hence there has been no ‘thrusting down your throat’ marketing and promotional push, so that it is the story (and not the pre-release campaign) that speaks for itself.

“All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women merely players”. That Shakespearean line from his classic comedy As You Like It, is the idea behind and in many ways the essence of Imtiaz Ali’s new film Tamasha. But, even more, the film explores: are we merely players or can we make our own story? In the world of Tamasha, the characters, especially Ranbir Kapoor’s Ved “plays” the character of a businessman within his real life, but on a trip to Corsica, where of course he meets a girl, Deepika’s Tara, he lets the storyteller that lives inside him out. Will Ved be able to break the shackles of ordinary existence, escape the corporate rat-race and become the way Tara sees him – the exuberant storyteller when they meet again and get their happily ever after? We will find out on Friday!

From his very first film Socha Na Tha, through the fabulous Jab We Met, to Cocktail, Rockstar and Highway, director Imtiaz Ali always takes you on an incredible cinematic journey. What makes his movies so very good is that while watching, you get lost in the world he has created on film and live with the characters through the story, the drama, the tears, the love and sometimes the happy ending. As a director he always manages to bring out incredible performances by the actors in his film, many times career-changing performances that truly show what an actor is made of. Think Deepika Padukone in Cocktail, Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar, Alia Bhatt in Highway and so many more.

This is the first time that the lead pair would be seen together for a film. Both Abhay and Diana have taken their time, and Diana specially will be seen on the silver screen after Cocktail, which released two years ago.

While Diana Penty debuted in Bollywood by playing the lead actress in Cocktail, it was Deepika Padukone who walked away with all the fame and accolades for the film. Now after staying away from the silver screen for about two years, Diana Penty has finally decided to give her Bollywood career another shot and has been signed by the Raanjhanaa fame filmmaker Anand L. Rai for his next production. Titled Happy Bhaag Jayegi, Diana will be sharing screen space with actor Abhay Deol. The film in question which seems to be a comedy will be directed by writer Mudassar Aziz. We hear that it took a while for Anand L. Rai and Mudassar to convince Diana Penty about doing the film and ending her so called 'sabbatical'. Though Diana has been active on the modeling and endorsement circuit, the actress completely stayed away from doing Bollywood films for over two years.

The celebrated filmmaker and cartoonist Walt Disney once said, “Of all of our inventions for mass communication, pictures still speak the most universally understood language.” Whatever background or class you belong to, we all love to relish in a Bollywood film now and again. Well let’s just say there were a minority of good films that form part of a pile of disappointments. It’s not been an amazing year for the Hindi film industry, yet we feel that the films which have lived up to our expectations deserve its due recognition. 2014 was a fantastic year for music in Indian Cinema. We saw a definite shift from formularistic numbers to more nuanced tunes in step with the respective screenplays they would be featured alongside. Music directors were bold and brave, breaching familiarity and conventions to taking risks and we could not be more mesmerised by the results. Hamlet was adapted to a gritty and raw musical by Vishal Bhardwaj. Ankit Tiwari and Mithoon basically defied gravity by re-creating the magic of Aashiqui 2 with Ek Villian. Read on as Bollyspice closely chronicles 2014’s top 10 music directors.

Jeet Gangulay’s Citylights was the silent hit of 2014 with Arjit Singh’s Mukurane becoming a crowd favourite from the get-go followed closely by Mohd. Irfan’s unplugged version of the song. While Youngistan did not do well at the box office, Gangulay’s ‘Sangemarmar’ definitely left a mark. Similarly, ‘Sun Le Zara’ from Singham was equally effective.

More than two years after Cocktail, Saif Ali Khan is returning in a zone where he is loved most. In this light hearted set up where he can pretty much afford to be himself, Saif has the stage set for himself. This means that he can be assured of a decent enough footfalls at the least. While it is expected that the opening would be arund 50% mark, that would be good enough for the film to grow as a genre like Happy Ending can see rapid escalation over the weekend, as urban crowds settle into multiplexes.
Cocktail had taken an opening of over 35 crore and even with a 30 crore start, Happy Ending would have reasons to celebrate as it is a solo release, and hence can stay stable on the weekdays as well. After all, Saif’s another solo release Bullett Raja hadn’t done wonders and though Race 2...

Happy Ending marks the return of the winning combination of Raj and Dk, Illuminati Films and Sachin-Jigar (Go Goa Gone). Needless to say, listeners have reasonable expectations from the music of Happy Ending.
The album consists of 6 tracks written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and features the vocal talents of Rekha Bhardwaj (‘Ghagra’ – Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani), Arjit Singh (‘Tum Hi Ho’ – Aashiqui 2) and Papon (‘Tu’ – Bobby Jasoos) amongst others.
The album commences with Mileya Mileya. The unprecedented combination of Rekha Bhardwaj, Jigar Saraiya and Priya Andrews is surprisingly good. Rekha’s semi-classical vocals against a background of a mostly contemporary track, makes for an interesting listen. The melody is instantly hummable and the minimal lyrics are effective. However, it’s the signature saxophone that makes the track worth your while.
Barring Amitabh’s relatively humorous lyrics Paaji Tussi Such a Pussycat is quite unremarkable. It ceases to amuse after...

Saif Ali Khan will be seen doing a cameo in his own movie, where he is seen playing the lead role too. Saif will be seen playing the role of Yudi (the lead) and Yogi (the cameo). This is quite an interesting twist to the tale. Directors Raj & Dk have been known from their unique and unusual work, have put across this quark element in the film. While thinking about this character, the first person who came to the mind of Dinesh Vijan was none other than Bollywood’s famous and most lovable music director Pritam. Pritam and Dinesh Vijan have worked in the past over some best bollywood albums like Love Aaj Kal, Cocktail, etc. When Dinoo told the directors duo about the same, they jumped with laughter. They were delighted with this thought, and then decided to work on Saif’s look with an inspiration to Pritam. Well,...

After many months of anticipation, Homi Adajania’s Finding Fanny is in cinemas, starring Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor and Pankaj Kapur in the lead roles.
After the release of Cocktail in 2012, Homi Adajania moves away from Bollywood formulas and takes up again the quirkiness and unconventionality displayed in his debut film Being Cyrus (2006) and creates a group story which takes place along the roads of Goa.
Finding Fanny revolves around five rather dysfunctional characters that live in the quaint sleepy village of Pocolim, nestled deep in the interior of Goa, India. One night, the old postman Ferdie (Shah), receives a letter that is slipped under his door.
He realizes that it is the letter he had written 46 years ago to the love of his life, Stefanie Fernandes, asking for her hand in marriage. He discovers that the letter was never delivered. All these years Ferdie had...

Deepika Padukone will be seen in cinemas again from today onwards in Homi Adajania’s Finding Fanny.
Finding Fanny is the story of five dysfunctional characters from Goa on a road trip to search for the long lost love of Ferdie played by Naseeruddin Shah.
In this interview, the Om Shanti Om star talks about the film and much more.
You agreed to do Finding Fanny while you were filming for Cocktail in London. Did you ever have second thoughts afterwards as it’s a different kind of film?
No, never. I was narrated the film during Cocktail and by the end of the film, I decided that I want to be a part of Finding Fanny. Forget all my films last year that have released, as Cocktail had not even released when I said yes to Finding Fanny. The experience that I had with Dinesh Vijan (producer) and Homi Adajania...

Two films as different as chalk and cheese release this Friday. While Finding Fanny is an out and out multiplex film, Creature 3D would register a presence amongst the masses. Both films have women driving the show as Deepika Padukone and Bipasha Basu are leading the show here. In fact their last association with the respective directors had paid off as well, what with Deepika and Homi Adajania delivering Cocktail and Bipasha along with Vikram Bhatt releasing Raaz 3 earlier. The promotion has been good too with the makers ensuring that their films get some good buzz in place well before the release. All of this means that both films should get a decent start at the box office. Though one isn’t expecting a blockbuster start here, the face value attached to Finding Fanny should attract youth at premium multiplexes across the country, especially at major cities. On the other...

Bollywood star Arjun Kapoor is excited about his forthcoming release Finding Fanny opposite Deepika Padukone, releasing in cinemas through 20th Century Fox.
Directed by Homi Adajania and produced by Dinesh Vijain (the team behind 2012 super hit Cocktail), Finding Fanny is the story of five dysfunctional characters from Goa on a road trip to search for the long lost love of Ferdie played by Naseeruddin Shah.
In this interview Kapoor talks about the film and much more:
How are you feeling as Finding Fanny is about to release worldwide as it’s not a typical Bollywood movie?
Honestly, I am quite excited. Primarily because I think that the audience is ready to accept such a movie. For every Rowdy Rathore there is also a Kahaani that does well. We are in a good phase as our audience is ready to watch anything that connects with them. That is what I have realised.

Deepika Padukone is one of the best in Bollywood. With each new role she transforms herself and becomes fully the character she is portraying. She certainly is on a roll with roles and performances and starred in four mega-blockbusters last year. Now, the talented actress offers fans something new and different headlining the quirky comedy Finding Fanny hitting theaters across North America and the world this Friday, September 12. What is interesting about Finding Fanny is that it is an English language comedy! Not only that, the film boasts an incredible cast that along with Deepika includes the very interesting characters played by Arjun Kapoor, Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, and Pankaj Kapoor. The comedy, directed by Homi Adajania, about five oddballs on a road trip in Goa was shot in just 32 days. From the first look through the teasers and trailers we can’t wait to see what this quirky film has in store!

Homi Adajania was looking forward to work with his Cocktail star Saif Ali Khan once he wrapped up the promotions of his upcoming film Finding Fanny. However, now it seems that their film is caught up in a fix. Apparently, Saif and Homi were looking buying the rights of an international film and the deal did not get through. Now it seems that they have planned to shelve the film. The film in question was said to be a romantic comedy and Homi Adajania along with Saif Ali Khan were in search of a leading lady for the same. It was to go on floors in Australia in November once Saif wraps up his other commitments. However, when the two approached the makers of the international film to buy the rights, they faced a few legal issues because of which they had to drop the idea. Saif recently revealed that...

After Saif Ali Khan received the Padmi Shri honour, one of the most privileged awards of India, in 2010, recently news was that the government was speculating on taking it away from this popular Bollywood actor. The reason behind this was a complaint filed by Rti activist S C Agarwal who alleged that Saif Ali Khan does not deserve the honour owing to the 2012 assault case that he was involved in. However, now we hear that Saif can retain the privileged award. Kareena Kapoor Khan, wife of Saif Ali Khan, recently stated that the government has issued a letter saying that they are not taking the Padma Shri back from the actor. However, she also mentioned that the verdict is not out as yet. As per the complaint filed by Agarwal on March 14, 2014, he had requested the government to take away the honour from the actor as he claimed that a...

Directed by Homi Adajania (Being Cyrus, Cocktail), one of the films that really has us intrigued is Finding Fanny, a Goa-set tale that stars Arjun Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, along with veteran actors Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, and Pankaj Kapoor with a special appearance by Ranveer Singh.
The film, which releases on September 12th, tells the story of Five Goans, who set off on a road trip in search of an old postman’s childhood love, Stefanie “Fanny” Fernandes, though nobody knows whether she’s alive or dead or just a figment of someone’s imagination. However, the friends get lost, and the journey – originally intended to take 20 minutes – instead takes one and a half days. If you’re looking for love…get lost!
We have your first song from the quirky Finding Fanny, titled ‘Fanny Re’, the peppy track was composed and sung by Mukhtiyar Ali.

Makers of Finding Fanny are gearing up to make this meet and greet more interesting and exciting. The makers want the promotions to be true to the film - and keep it quirky right from the word go! Currently trending on chartbusters is Yo Yo Honey Singh and the rapper surely seems to have come a long way since his 'Angrezi Weed' (Cocktail) days. After the success of 'Chaar Bottle Vodka', 'Party With the Bhoothnath' and many others, this time around Honey Singh will be doing a song for director Rohit Shetty. While the two previously created the famous 'Lungi Dance' last year in Chennai Express, we believe that the magic will be revived in Singham Returns. The song in question is a promotional song for the film which will feature the film's leads Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor. Though Yo Yo Honey Singh has worked with Ajay before in Son of Sardar ('Po Po'), this will be the first time he will be teaming up with Kareena Kapoor. Also, Yo Yo Honey Singh will be seen mouthing the famous Singham dialogue, 'Aata Majhi Satakli' from the film franchise.
