When Air Force One Down begins, Allison Miles has already made a name for herself as one of the first female Marines to qualify for special operations. That has impressed Uncle Sam, both the US government and her actual Uncle Sam, to offer her a job with the Secret Service, something she’s happy to accept.

It has been a long time since I’ve reviewed a direct-to-market Steven Seagal movie, in fact its been some time since I’ve so much as watched one for my own “pleasure”. I skipped over Sniper: Special Ops, Asian Connection, Code of Honour, and the most recent Dtv release End of a Gun, maily because after buying, watching, and often reviewing, every single film starring Seagal until the aforementioned I was suffering from Seagal burnout… A condition that often comes about in an audience when they realise that the once-agile former martial arts superstar has succumbed to appearing in extended cameos in the hopes that long-suffering fans – like myself – will buy the film on his name...

The conviction of newly released straight-to-video action movie fight-fest Maximum Conviction was never in doubt. The film is set in a prison, after all. But its maximumness? That’s raised a few questions. I’m in the question answering business, so I sat down to watch the film to see just how maximum it was. The answer is that it was surprisingly maximum. In fact, it was so maximum that I felt compelled to list the 10 most maximum things about it. Why 10? Because it’s the maximum the editors would allow me.
Maximum Steven
How many violent Stevens can one action film handle? I’ve always assumed the answer to be one, but Maximum Conviction brings us both ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin and ‘Stone Colder’ Steven Seagal.

Stone Cold Steve Austin and Dolph Lundgren; it’s a pairing either genius or awful, but one thing’s for sure, it’s a step-up from Austin’s last double act with a former action star, Maximum Conviction, which saw him team with a bloated, over-the-hill Steven Seagal to demeaning ends.
In The Package, Austin plays Tommy Wick, a no-nonsense “fixer” who performs the dirty work of a local crime boss. His latest job involves delivering a package to a man known only as “The German” (Lundgren) in order to clear a steep debt that his brother, Eddie (Lochlyn Munro), owes. Of course, nothing goes as expected, and amid a pile of bodies, Wick and The German find themselves heading on a collision course towards one another.
Though better-assembled than much of its straight-to-video brethren, The Package delivers all of the dull, unimaginative action you should...

Steven Seagal is a man of many talents: International movie star, TV action hero, part-time law enforcer and full-time ass kicker. He even sings the blues and made the ponytail look manly.
In his newest action flick "Maximum Conviction" – coming to DVD and Blu-ray on Nov. 6th – Seagal teams with "Stone Cold"' Steve Austin to battle a team of elite mercenaries after the transportation of two inmates goes awry. The movie is vintage Seagal, complete epic gun fights, explosions, witty puns and all the bone-crunching Aikido one can handle in 90 minutes.
Taking a pause from breaking necks and limbs, Steven took the time to sit down with us and discuss upcoming projects, his thoughts on "The Expendables" franchise (hint: he doesn't love it) and the odds that we'll ever refer to him as President Seagal.

I’m a huge Steven Seagal fan, and have been for most of my life at this point. Films like “Out For Justice”, “Under Siege”, and “Hard to Kill” rank among my all-time favorites, and with a scarce few exceptions, I’ve seen every movie the man has made. Even with these qualifications, it’s getting harder and harder to watch the man’s new work. Over the last few years he’s become a bloated caricature of his former self, and nowhere is that more evident than in his new direct-to-video offering, “Maximum Conviction”. “Maximum Conviction”, or “MaxCon” as it will henceforth be known, is another in a long line of recent Seagal films where the title combines two words that sound tough, but that mean nothing and have little connection to the actual film. It’s also another in a troubling line of films with lackluster fight scenes.

As big as Steven Seagal has gotten, it takes a mighty big man to look even bigger than the former Hollywood action star onscreen. But whoever they got to play the black con in this clip from Seagal’s latest, “Maximum Conviction”, certainly suffices. More importantly, I sincerely hope the over-the-top shakicam that’s present in this brief scene isn’t indicative of the movie as a whole, because if it is, then I’m going to be incredibly annoying. It’s bad enough when Hollywood directors do it, I don’t need this crap in my B-movie entertainment as well. If you were disappointed that neither Steven Seagal nor "Stone Cold" Steve Austin made an appearance in The Expendables 2, you'll be happy to know that they've gone and made an action flick of their own called Maximum Conviction. Sure, it's a direct-to-dvd piece of crap, but hey, what did you expect? The movie is directed by Keoni Waxman, the same guy who did the previous Stone Cold starring vehicle Hunt to Kill. As you can probably guess, it looks pretty bad although the non-existent chemistry between Seagal and Austin is almost so terrible it's sublime. Maximum Conviction hits DVD and Blu-ray on Nov. 6th; check out the trailer after the jump and see what you think.

Steven Seagal and Steve “Stone Cold” Austin are trapped in a prison with some deadly prisoners in what apparently is a “Die Hard in a Prison” situation. From the looks of the trailer, it looks like Austin is doing most of the work, with Seagal showing up here and there to take up space. And man, does he take up space! I don’t want to make fun of the man’s weight, but holy crap, my man’s seen leaner days, that’s for sure. But hey, don’t take my word for it. Check out the first trailer for the two Steves’ latest direct-to-dvd offering, “Maximum Conviction”. Hey, it’s a movie starring the two Steves! Maybe they’ll end up being the asskicking version of the Coreys. You remember them? Anyways, the martial arts master is teaming up with the wrasslin’ guy for a new actioner called “Maximum Conviction”, with Seagal playing … Tom Steele. Face it, that’s the kind of action hero name you can’t say in a normal voice, it’s gotta have emphasis on the “Steele” part. I look forward to the day when Steven Seagal stars as … Max Power. Until then, check out a synopsis and some images from “Maximum Conviction”. I’ve kind of ignored Steven Seagal’s recent output as of late, mostly because I’m not a huge fan of his “True Justice” television show. However, all of that’s about to change later this year when Anchor Bay drops “Maximum Conviction” on the big guy’s fanbase, a motion picture experience that co-stars “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. That’s right — the two Steves are together at last. I can barely contain my excitement for this project. To your immediate left you’ll find the film’s first poster, while the rest of the latest stills are lurking down below. You know you want to gawk and stare. Feel free to do so for as long as you wish. We don’t charge by the minute. Here’s what to expect from the film’s plot: When former black ops operative Tom Steele (Seagal) and his partner Manning...

For fans of straight to DVD action movies like myself, Maximum Conviction – which has just been picked up for Us distribution by Anchor Bay – sounds like a match made in heaven. Former hard-hitting, and now heavy-hitting martial arts megastar Steven Seagal has teamed up with former WWE Superstar “Stone Cold” Steve Austin in the film which comes from director Keoni Waxman.
The film sees the action duo as private security contractors decommissioning an old prison. When two mysterious female prisoners are forced to stay there one night, the facility comes under siege by a force of mercenaries, with our heroes forced to stand against the mercenaries and find out the reason for the assault.
I for one shall be snapping Maximum Conviction up when it hits Blu-ray next year!
