The Waterfront: Why I’m Excited For Netflix’s Frothy New Summer Drama
Image
One thing Netflix knows how to do well is have a summer hit emerge that’ll set the internet ablaze and have everyone discussing it in all corners of social media platforms.

There’s nothing quite like settling in for a binge with a cold beverage and nothing but time as the streamer lures you into a new world of pure vibes and solid characters.

And without a doubt, this summer’s hit will be The Waterfront.

(Dana Hawley/Netflix ) The Waterfront Already Sold Us with Who Is Behind It

Kevin Williamson wrote and executive produced the series.

Yes, that one — the man behind some of our lasting favorite series such as Dawson’s Creek, The Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle, Fox’s grisly but great The Following, and, you know, the entire Scream franchise.

Interviews: Kevin Bacon and co-stars discuss the action horror series The Bondsman
Kevin Bacon
Kevin Bacon has done it all. From action to comedy to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the legendary actor has been in Oscar winners to pop culture favorites and shows no sign of slowing down. For his new series, the legendary actor tries something a little bit different than we have come to expect from him with The Bondsman. A blend of multiple genres, The Bondsman is part horror and part comedy but is just a fun time full of blood, guts, and family dynamics.

In The Bondsman, Kevin Bacon stars as Hub Halloran, a murdered bounty hunter who’s back from the dead after being resurrected by the Devil to trap and send back demons that have escaped from the prison of Hell. By chasing down those demons with the help and hindrance of his estranged family, Hub learns how his own sins got his soul condemned, pushing him to...

Kevin Bacon's Slick New Horror Series Has Taken Over Prime Video's Charts
Image
Amazon Prime Video is actively being dominated by one Mr. Kevin Bacon. The actor, best known for his roles in classics such as "Footloose" and "Tremors" (among many others), stars in the newly-unveiled Blumhouse horror-comedy series "The Bondsman." Though the show hasn't been out very long, it's pretty safe to declare it a big hit in the early going.

The series debuted all eight episodes of its first season on Prime Video at once on Thursday, April 3. Though certain shows get the weekly release treatment on the streamer, such as "The Boys," Amazon decided to go with a Netflix-style binge dump for this one. It paid off, as the series is currently the most-watched on all of Prime Video, per FlixPatrol. At the moment, it even ranks above the likes of "The Wheel of Time" and "Reacher", which just debuted its season 3 finale. That makes this a big winner for Blumhouse and Amazon,...

Kevin Bacon returns from the dead to hunt demonic criminals in the trailer for Amazon’s The Bondsman, which dropped on Tuesday.

The series returns Bacon to television since Showtime’s City on a Hill, which ended in 2022, and also marks a reunion with Amazon for the I Love Dick star. His first TV series regular role came in 2013 with Fox’s The Following.

In Bondsman, Bacon plays Hub Halloran, a murdered bounty hunter whose second chance at life has him trying to recapture escaped demons in Hell after being resurrected by the Devil. “If you fail to process any demons assigned to you, you will be terminated,” Jolene Purdy, who plays Midge and who recruited Halloran to go demon-hunting in Hell, warns at one point in the trailer (below).

This Cancelled Psychological Thriller Series Was Network TV's "Most Violent"
Image
A decade ago, one Fox series horrified audiences everywhere when it paired Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy for a seductive and intelligent study of the macabre. That show was The Following, and it was canceled far too soon. Though Kevin Williamson originally developed the series as a potential third Scream film, he returned to the idea years later to bring us Bacon's former FBI Agent Ryan Hardy and Purefoy's highly unstable Joe Carroll. But what made this three-season psychological thriller stand out among the rest? Well, in short, it was probably the most violent show you'll ever watch on network television.

No, Gabriel Macht’s Daughter Is Not in Suits, Here’s How the Rumors Started
Image
Actor Gabriel Macht is best known for his role as Harvey Specter in the legal drama Suits. The actor’s swagger and sophisticated performance received renewed interest last year when it debuted on Netflix and introduced Specter to a whole new generation of audiences. The response was so good that a spinoff show is currently in development.

Macht has prided himself in being a family man and has, in fact, taken a break from acting ever since the end of the series. However, even while filming he managed to keep his family close, with his wife Jacinda Barrett and his father Stephen Macht playing recurring roles. One rumor about his daughter Satine being a part of the series was debunked.

Image
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon team up for Netflix's crime thriller Rip, produced by their studio Artists Equity. Joe Carnahan, known for directing crime thrillers, will helm the film and co-write the script with Michael McGrale. Rip marks the duo's return to their working partnership, which began with their Oscar-winning film Good Will Hunting.

When Ben Affleck and Matt Damon team up for a film, it usually means big box office, critical acclaim, and Academy Awards. Now, the A-list duo is taking their talents to Netflix for their next film. In an exclusive report from Deadline, Netflix has acquired the rights to Rip, a crime thriller that both Damon and Affleck will headline.

Reports surfaced in June that Rip was being shopped around to studios and streamers, and it appears Netflix won the bidding war just before the July 4 holiday. Damon and Affleck's Artists Equity studio is producing the film.

A Lesbian Actress Playing an Anti-Gay, Anti-Trans Superhero on ‘The Boys’? Count Her In!
Image
Valorie Curry has played a lot of characters over the years with whom she had almost nothing in common — a murderous cult member in Fox’s The Following, a paramedic who moonlights for the mob in Amazon’s The Tick, a cryptid researcher in 2016’s Blair Witch sequel — but few have been quite as starkly antithetical to Curry’s personal beliefs as Firecracker.

Firecracker, the latest mutant to join Amazon’s superhero satire The Boys in its new fourth season, is politically divisive, with extremist and often hateful opinions on everything from vaccines and CIA conspiracies to the Lgbtqia community.

Curry, who identifies as a lesbian — she first came out as pansexual on Instagram in 2019, during National Coming Out Day — should have been repelled by Firecracker. But her reaction was just the opposite. “It sounds so gross to say, but I really connected with her right off the bat,” says Curry.

Adan Canto
Adan Canto’s tragic death earlier this year left The Cleaning Lady with a big decision to make.

How would it write out his character?

The actor played the scene-stealing Arman Morales on the Fox hit’s first two seasons.

The Cleaning Lady Season 3, Episode 6, brought Arman’s storyline to a chilling conclusion when Thony worked with his family to get him back from his captors.

Tuesday’s shocking episode found everyone working together to bring him home, but Thony (Elodie Young) learned that Dante (Clayton Cardenas) may have been responsible for Arman’s capture.

Adan Canto honored in The Cleaning Lady Season 3 premiere, two months after his death
Adan Canto
When news of Adan Canto’s death broke in January, The Cleaning Lady was already well into production on its third season.

At the time of Canto’s death, it was revealed that he had stepped away from the Fox drama before filming commenced.

The plan was originally to bring the actor back as Arman Morales during the latter half of the season.

The Cleaning Lady Season 3 got underway on Tuesday evening on Fox, and much to the fans’ surprise, Arman was present for one of the opening scenes.

He was caught up in a shootout, but before fans saw whether the character perished, Thony (Elodie Yung) and Nadia (Eva De Dominici) had to leave the scene.

There’s no telling whether that signals the end of the road for Arman or if the series plans to reveal he escaped from the situation unscathed down the line to safety.
