Connie Nielsen has joined the cast of the upcoming series “Robin Hood” at MGM+, Variety has learned exclusively.

The 10 episode series was greenlit in September 2024 and recently began production in Serbia. Nielsen will appear alongside previously announced cast members like leads Jack Patten, Lauren McQueen, and Sean Bean. The series returns Bacon to television since Showtime’s City on a Hill, which ended in 2022, and also marks a reunion with Amazon for the I Love Dick star. His first TV series regular role came in 2013 with Fox’s The Following.

James Purefoy (“King Randor”) and Charlotte Riley (“Queen Marlena”) have been cast in the upcoming live-action feature film “Masters of the Universe,” based on the iconic Mattel franchise, Amazon MGM and Mattel announced on Tuesday.

Both will star alongside the already announced Nicholas Galitzine (“He-Man”), Camila Mendes (“Teela”), Morena Baccarin (“The Sorceress”), Alison Brie (“Evil-Lyn”), Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (“Malcolm/Fisto”), Jared Leto (“Skeletor”), Idris Elba (“Duncan/Man-at-Arms”), Sam C. Exclusive: Following Lionsgate’s acquisition of eOne, Lionsgate Television has moved in to retain the top TV creator on eOne’s roster, Alexi Hawley, signing a premium overall deal with the creator/executive producer of two of eOne’s three ongoing premium scripted series, The Rookie on ABC, starring Nathan Fillion, and The Recruit on Netflix, headlined by Noah Centineo, as well as a hot new drama Lionsgate has out in the marketplace, The Envoy.

When Ben Affleck and Matt Damon team up for a film, it usually means big box office, critical acclaim, and Academy Awards. Now, the A-list duo is taking their talents to Netflix for their next film. In an exclusive report from Deadline, Netflix has acquired the rights to Rip, a crime thriller that both Damon and Affleck will headline.

Reports surfaced in June that Rip was being shopped around to studios and streamers, and it appears Netflix won the bidding war just before the July 4 holiday. Damon and Affleck's Artists Equity studio is producing the film.

Valorie Curry has played a lot of characters over the years with whom she had almost nothing in common — a murderous cult member in Fox’s The Following, a paramedic who moonlights for the mob in Amazon’s The Tick, a cryptid researcher in 2016’s Blair Witch sequel — but few have been quite as starkly antithetical to Curry’s personal beliefs as Firecracker.

Firecracker, the latest mutant to join Amazon’s superhero satire The Boys in its new fourth season, is politically divisive, with extremist and often hateful opinions on everything from vaccines and CIA conspiracies to the Lgbtqia community.

Tragic news out of Hollywood today, as actor Adan Canto has passed away at the age of 42.

The multi-talented star first became famous as a musician in his native Mexico before shifting his focus to acting.

In recent years, Canto starred in such popular American series as The Cleaning Lady and Designated Survivor.

According to Deadline, Canto died following a private battle with appendiceal cancer.

Though his life was tragically cut short, Canto compiled an impressive resumé and amassed a sizable fan base during his brief career.

He is survived by his wife, artist Stephanie Lindquist, and their two children.

Born in Coahuila, Mexico and raised primarily in Texas, Canto moved to Mexico City at 16 to try and make it as a musician.

Canto managed to parlay a musical career in Mexico into a successful acting career in Hollywood. He most recently starred in the Fox drama "The Cleaning Lady" as the male lead in the first two seasons alongside Elodie Yung.

Canto had originally intended to return for the show's upcoming third season, but his health prevented that from being a possibility. The series will pay tribute to Canto during the season 3 premiere. Fox and Warner Bros. TV had the following to say in a joint statement:

Family, friends and former co-stars of Adan Canto took to social media on Tuesday to remember the actor following news that The Cleaning Lady and Designated Survivor star died of cancer at age 42.

“Forever my treasure Adan, see you soon,” Stephanie Canto, Adan’s wife, wrote on Instagram. She paired the message with a passage from Matthew 6:19-21 and a photo of the couple together.

Canto died Tuesday of appendiceal cancer, his rep told The Hollywood Reporter. His diagnosis had not been made public.

“Adan had a depth of spirit that few truly knew. Those who glimpsed it were changed forever,” read a statement. “He will be greatly missed by so many.”

Along with his wife, he is survived by their two children, Roman Alder, 3, and Eve Josephine, 1.

Canto was known by many as Aaron Shore on Netflix’s Designated Survivor, the White House Chief of Staff-turned-Vice President to Kiefer Sutherland’s Tom Kirkman.

Kiefer Sutherland shared a post on Instagram to honor Canto and shared that he was “heartbroken” by his loss and for his family.

As an actor his desire to do well, to be great, and then do better, was truly impressive and he will be greatly missed. I am also heartbroken for his wife, Steph and his two young children. Adan, may you rest in peace.”
