Blake Shelton was more than Miranda Lambert’s husband. The two collaborated on multiple songs during their relationship. He helped co-write some of her biggest hits. So, when it came time to write the tracks for her new album, Postcards from Texas, was she inspired by the split? Keep reading to find out what sources close to Miranda Lambert said about it.
Miranda & Blake: The Way They Were
Sparks flew for Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert the first time they shared the stage. The two performed a duet at CMT’s Greatest Duets in 2005. They were both in relationships at the time: Shelton was married to Kaynette Williams and Lambert was engaged to Jeff Allan McManus.
The country stars went public in 2007 after ending their respective relationships. Blake Shelton co-wrote several songs on Lambert’s 2009 album Revolution. He proposed in 2010 and they married in 2011. She took home Song of the...

A TikTok trend called “Stick Nation” has become one of my favorites. Folks around the world introduce themselves with a simple “what’s up, Stick Nation?,” then present a stick they’ve found. We’ll usually get to hear where they found said stick and if it’s oak, birch or pine. Over the past few weeks, sticks were my route to escapism until I saw a more meaningful use for them in Ben Russell and Guillaume Cailleau’s Direct Action. The movie begins with a desktop screen as we start to jump back and forth between protests from 2016 and 2018 in Notre-Dames-des-Landes. Since […]

Tim Burton’s Batman films are still widely regarded as groundbreaking and have significantly shaped modern comic book movies.
Although Burton directed only two films—Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992)—before being replaced by Joel Schumacher due to creative differences with the studio, his influence endures. Fans continue to celebrate Burton’s Batman movies as cinematic masterpieces.
Recently, that legacy was expanded with the release of Batman: Resurrection, a novel set between Burton’s two films. Written by New York Times bestselling author John Jackson Miller, the book serves as a direct sequel to the 1989 movie, continuing the story of Michael Keaton’s Batman.
If you thought that was the last we’d see of Burton’s Batman universe, there’s more exciting news—Miller has confirmed he’s working on a follow-up novel, slated for release around this time next year!

Tim Burton’s Batman films are still held in high regard and have influenced modern comic book movies in a major way. While Burton directed just two films – Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992) – and was replaced by Joel Schumacher after a clash with the studio, his legacy remains. Fans around the world still praise his two Batman films as masterpieces.
The legacy of these movies is enormous, as we have said, and we have recently seen that a novel set between Burton’s two movies – Batman: Resurrection – was published. Written by New York Times bestselling author John Jackson Miller, the novel is a direct sequel to Burton’s 1989 film and expands the story of Michael Keaton’s Batman.

Mahershala Ali’s Long Lost Film Debut Will Finally Be Released Almost 25 Years Later — Watch Trailer
Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali’s film debut is finally getting released almost 25 years after being shelved.
Ali plays a fictional, egotistical revolutionary leader who compares himself to Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, and Moses in “Taste the Revolution,” a political satire mockumentary written and directed by Dan Klein.
The long lost film follows two aspiring filmmakers as they chronicle the story of a charismatic revolutionary, Mac Laslow (Ali), and the group of disillusioned college students drawn together one summer to change the world. But, per the official synopsis, “without a unifying direction or clear goals, the movement descends into chaos.”
Alexander Bilu, Jeremy Dubin, Jen Nails, and Jeremy Beiler co-star alongside Ali, who also executive produces.
Ali isn’t the only Hollywood star who got his start with “Revolution”: Colin Trevorrow co-wrote the script, co-stars, and also executive produces.
So why was “Revolution” shelved back in 2001? Well, according to director Klein,...

The CW show Supernatural was arguably its most famous series until the likes of The Vampire Diaries and Arrow. The show starred Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki as two brothers who travel across America to find their father who is a demon hunter. They encounter a new demon of the week in every episode.
Created by Eric Kripke, who now serves as showrunner of The Boys, the show was reportedly set to end by season 5, but the studio wanted to keep going. Kripke reportedly took the hard decision to leave after season five as he felt that he was pushing his limits already. He also mentioned how tough it was to develop twenty-two episode seasons with an hour-long episode.

I’ve seen documentaries reveal fascinating dimensions of John Lennon — films like “The U.S. vs. John Lennon” (2006), which chronicled his political activism and the Nixon administration’s attempts to deport him, or “The Lost Weekend: A Love Story” (2022), a portrait of Lennon’s relationship with May Pang. But “One to One: John & Yoko,” despite its rather nondescript title, may be the most accomplished and arresting of these tightly angled Lennon profiles. “The Lost Weekend” showed us a side of Lennon that had been somewhat under the radar. “One to One” deals with the period just before the Lost Weekend, starting in August 1971, when John and Yoko moved from their country estate outside London to New York City, where they spent 18 months living in a small apartment in the West Village. (It was after that that they moved into the Dakota.)

The Beatles are one of the most essential classic rock bands, but they rarely made hard rock songs. This raises an interesting question: is “Helter Skelter” the heaviest Beatles song? There are a few other candidates.
The Beatles’ ‘Helter Skelter’ is 1 of several hard rock songs on ‘The White Album’
The Beatles went through eras where their dominant sound was bubblegum music, folk, psychedelia, and blues rock. However, they never opted to make an entire hard-rock record. Some of their heavier songs include “Revolution,” “Yer Blues,” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” all of which came from The White Album. “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” even featured contributions from Eric Clapton, one of the most iconic guitar heroes of all time.
However, one song from The White Album remains one of the most innovative songs in the band’s catalog: “Helter Skelter.” While “Revolution,” “Yer Blues,” and “While My Guitar...

The haunting intro on the Rolling Stones’ “Monkey Man,” the galloping keyboard solo on the Beatles’ “Revolution,” the piano that anchors the Who’s “The Song Is Over,” and countless other indelible classic-rock moments were all the work of one man: session keyboardist Nicky Hopkins. A classically trained player from Middlesex, England, who somehow also played like he had been raised in churches in the American South, Hopkins performed on nearly every Stones album from 1967 to 1981, was a founding member of the Jeff Beck Group, and played on solo albums by all four Beatles,...

John Legend welcomed Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz Wednesday night at the Democratic National Convention, performing a song by one of Minnesota’s greatest artists: Prince. Ahead of Walz’s acceptance as the party’s vice presidential nominee, Legend honored the Gopher state, where Walz coached high school football before becoming governor. (Legend previously participated in a Prince tribute at the 2020 Grammys, with a performance of Prince-penned Sinead O’Connor hit “Nothing Compares 2 U.”)
Together with Sheila E., Legend sang “Let’s Go Crazy” — the 1984 single by Prince and The Revolution, from the album Purple Rain.

When you think of the Hilton family today, you probably think of influencers such as Paris Hilton and Nicky (Hilton) Rothschild. You might even think of the extensive hospitality businesses somewhat owned by the family, Hilton Hotels Corporation, founded and created by Conrad Hilton in 1919. The Hilton family history is extensive, so today we will be talking about Conrad Hilton and his son, William Barron Hilton’s history. Conrad Hilton is one of seven and was born in New Mexico in 1887 to parents Augustus Halvorsen Hilton and Mary Genevieve Laufersweiler. Conrad Hilton would ultimately begin what we know now as the Hilton Hotel Corporation.

Welcome, readers, to Late to the Party , a column that's right on time when it comes to catching up on anime everyone's already watched. This column addresses a universal truth in regard to being an anime fan: an anime backlog is quite the powerful beast. Many of us have one, where we amass more and more content we have designated in the "planning to watch" category. How and why it takes so long to actually address this task varies from person to person, but the gratification of finally allocating the time is really quite splendid. Occasionally, it’s by watching a classic anime from yesteryear that you’ve had your eye on for quite some time. In other instances, it’s a more recent premiere that just slipped by. To close out Pride Month, I’m taking a look at the latter; a gem from the fall 2023 season that I...

Giancarlo Esposito is often the best thing about whichever project he appears in. That was certainly the case, for this writer, at least, in “The Mandalorian,” his TV series “Parish,” and, now, the Guy Ritchie Netflix show “The Gentlemen.”
This one is a spin-off of the successful 2019 movie of the same name, which starred Matthew McConaughey and a terrific Hugh Grant. The show focuses on Theo James‘ aristocrat, who inherits his family estate only to find that it is the home of a weed empire. What follows is a classic Ritchie affair, with gangsters and crime members in pursuit of the empire. Esposito appears as a suave, menacing American billionaire named Stanley Johnston, who wants to buy the estate from James’ aristocrat. Esposito once again wields his mesmerizing voice to full effect, delivering the best monologues in the show, in which he calls British aristocracy “the original gangsters.” Critics agree,...

The Beatles made songs in many different genres but disco was not one of them. Despite this, John Lennon compared one of the songs from The White Album to disco music. Interestingly, two members of the Fab For made disco songs after the band fell to pieces. In addition, another member of the band revealed he was a big fan of a disco hit.
John Lennon compared a Beatles blues song to disco songs
During a 1980 interview from the book All We Are Saying: The Last Major Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, John discussed his band’s song “Revolution 1.” “Well, the slow version of ‘Revolution’ on the album went on and on and on and I took the fade-out part, which is what they sometimes do with disco records now, and just layered all this stuff over it,” he said. “It has the basic rhythm of the original...

The success of Netflix’s Castlevania can be measured by the fact that the video game adaptation got renewed for four consecutive seasons and then a spinoff series. This was truly a great achievement, as there are very few Netflix-produced anime series that have become so popular among anime fans.
Dracula – Castlevania | Powerhouse Animation
One of the reasons the series was such a big hit is because of its main antagonist, Dracula, the leader and King of the Vampires. Dracula’s appearance in the first two seasons attracted fans and helped the series gain popularity. However, he was killed in the second season, which became a big problem for Castlevania and its creators.
Warren Ellis, the writer of Castlevania, once revealed that Dracula’s death became the biggest challenge for them as it slimmed the chances of the third season of the series. However, they still managed to save the...

Castlevania as a series has been executed in a rather splendid way. From the animation to the storytelling and writing, each and every aspect of the show has care put into it like no other. The story is captivating in many ways and the way it flows through, there is no wonder a demand for sequels, spinoffs, and more seasons came endlessly.

There is always a certain thrill in experimentation. Whether it is with the scripts or animation, trying new techniques opens new doors. Warren Ellis had been writing for Castlevania ever since the first season. So to see him wanting to explore uncharted territories as the series progressed isn’t something too far fetched. By the time the third season rolled around, things started changing for the show.

Eric Kripke had a Midas touch long before the Hollywood establishment gave him credit for it. In 2005, he created Supernatural — one of the 10 longest-running primetime dramas in history, only wrapping in 2020. But it was a cheap, genre show on an unsexy network, The CW, so even an ensuing string of doubles (Revolution, Timeless) did little to move his needle. Then, he sold an adaptation of Garth Ennis’ hard-r comic book The Boys to Amazon. In other hands, it might have been Diet Deadpool. But Kripke crafted a scathing satire of 21st century America where Homelander, the chiseled superhero in the American flag cape, is an authoritarian proxy for Donald Trump. Critics immediately took a shine, but its commercial success — the most recent season earned more eyeballs than The Rings of Power, with 106 billion minutes viewed in 2022 — made Kripke a priority at the streamer. There, he’s swiftly built out the...

Even if you spend all your free time watching a variety of TV shows, regardless of language, rating, genre, or time period, you're still far from watching every show imaginable. All the studios, producers, and platforms have now created so many hours of content that it will be hard to fit in just one life.
While that may be disappointing to some, it also means that you will always have something new to watch. So if you are looking for the next hidden gem to check out, you can start with something from the list below.
Revolution (2012-2014)
Revolution is a sci-fi show that could have done much better in the 2020s than it did in the 2010s. Set in the dystopian future, a group of revolutionaries start fighting against the military tyrants, who gained their powers after the unknown entities shut down all the electricity in the world, creating...

As expected, Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers scored an easy win this weekend, with a $15 million weekend, just a touch softer than we predicted earlier this week. The tennis-cantered love triangle was no doubt boosted by Zendaya’s star power, with her hotter than ever in the wake of Dune: Part Two’s blockbuster showing this winter. IMAX screens were dominated by Zendaya in one form or another, with both Challengers and Dune 2 playing in the format this weekend thanks to the latter’s re-release.
Notably, the film posted Guadagnino’s best box office opening to date, with the weekend total more than doubling the total take of his previous biggest opener, Bones and All. It’ll be interesting to see if Challengers can hold up in the coming weeks, with The Fall Guy opening next weekend and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes opening the weekend after. With...

The adventure of Guts in the Berserk manga began once again, one year after the death of its creator, Kentaro Miura. His best friend, Kouji Mori, who is also a manga creator known for works like Holyland, Jisatsutou, and Destroy and Revolution, collaborated with the artists at Studio Gaga to continue the legacy of Miura.
Guts in Berserk
Miura and Mori have been together since high school, and they have known each other for over 40 years. They both dreamed of becoming manga creators together, and Mori was the only one who knew the ending of Berserk. He is the perfect individual to complete Miura’s masterpiece, and the recent chapters that have been released by Studio Gaga prove it.
Miura’s genius is widely reflected in Berserk. The series is considered one of the best mangas of all time by many. Even Mori believed that Miura was a gifted artist,...

Donovan was there during The Beatles‘ trip to India. He and the Fab Four were having the sort of heady conversation people should have at a spiritual retreat. Donovan and the Fab Four had some very similar opinions.
Donovan and The Beatles discussed ‘the inner world’ in India
During a 2013 interview with Performing Songwriter, the “Sunshine Superman” singer explained how he became interested in meditation. “Reading Jack Kerouac and hearing the word ‘Zen’ and going on to Buddhism, then rediscovering the Eastern philosophies and the word’ meditation,’ I realized that there was an actual technique for finding the inner world that we’d lost in the West.”
The “Hurdy Gurdy Man” star felt that the world needed more spirituality. “The great teachers — Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud, Joseph Campbell — spoke of being able to enter the inner world, where all things come from and all things return,” he said. “Not a religion.

Elvis Presley‘s “Don’t Cry Daddy” doesn’t sound like a political song. However, it was inspired by a dark day in American history, specifically an event from the Vietnam War. The writer of the song said the tune was inspired by some disturbing footage he saw on television.
A Vietnam War massacre inspired Elvis Presley’s ‘Don’t Cry Daddy’
Mac Davis is a songwriter who gave us Elvis tunes such as “In the Ghetto,” “A Little Less Conversation, “Memories,” and “Don’t Cry Daddy.” On the surface, the latter song is a ballad about a child who is comforting his father because his mother is gone. It’s not clear is she is absent or deceased. During an interview with Elvis Information Network, Davis recalled the origin of “Don’t Cry Daddy.”

Aew Revolution 2024 was a hell of a show and it ended with the satisfying finale of Sting’s time in the ring. The final stretch of Sting’s career was a wonderful chance to set things right for the legendary wrestler, after the wrestling business had constantly let him down over the years. He was once the ace of WCW, but the incompetence and selfishness of others hurt his legacy in different ways at different promotions. But despite being in his 60s, his three years at Aew allowed him to go out on his own terms.

The cover of John Lennon‘s Double Fantasy depicts him kissing Yoko Ono. The record’s title is not simply a reference to the two of them working together. John revealed the name has a spiritual meaning.
John Lennon’s ‘Double Fantasy’ was inspired by John’s view of prayer

In it, John revealed his opinions about prayer. “The consciousness is, ‘Let’s see what we shall pray for together. Let’s make it stronger by picturing the same image, projecting the same image,'” he said. “And that is the secret. That is the secret. Because you can be together but projecting different things.”

Al Pacino starred in Sea of Love in 1989 after a four-year hiatus and gave a box office hit with his neo-noir crime thriller. Pacino’s last film before Sea of Love, Revolution, was a critical and commercial disaster. But it was Diane Keaton who put him back on the top of Hollywood by offering him Harold Becker’s movie. Before barging into his lawyer’s office and saving his career, she called him an idiot to his face in front of his lawyer.
Diane Keaton and Al Pacino shared a great friendship from working together in The Godfather films
Al Pacino played an NYPD detective in the film trying to catch a serial killer who targets and kills their victims through the singles column in a newspaper. The film, made on a budget of $19 million, grossed over $110 million at the box office.

Forget your traditional game controller or mouse and keyboard to enjoy Helldivers 2. If you’re up for the challenge, try having the Dance Dance Revolution input for the game, like one determined player has managed to show off their skills. Not only do they ace these moves (literally), but they also manage to strategize mid-game as if nothing is different.
This isn’t the first time the community has seen someone use a unique input for a game. In fact, people have used musical instruments and all kinds of machinery in place of traditional controllers to play a game usually not meant for that kind of input. And this time, it’s Helldivers 2’s turn.
Got moves? Show them off… on a mat There are many ways to play the game, including dancing in real life.

Despite everything John Lennon said in his music, he didn’t vote. During an interview he gave near the end of his life, the “Imagine” singer explained his rationale for refusing to vote. John also explained why he felt the need to dabble in politics in his music. Even hardcore fans might be surprised by what he had to say.
John Lennon used a quote to justify his refusal to vote
John discussed politics a bit in The Beatles’ music, most famously through the song “Revolution.” Social issues became a much bigger theme in his solo music. Many of his most famous solo songs are about the subject, including “Give Peace a Chance,” “Imagine,” “Power to the People,” “God,” “Working Class Hero,” and “Happy Xmas (War Is Over).”

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison wrote the majority of The Beatles’ songs. While Lennon and McCartney were the primary writers in The Beatles’ early years, Harrison made more contributions later on. They were all competitive with one another, which typically pushed their creative output. Still, Lennon claimed the competition between them led McCartney and Lennon to resent him.
John Lennon said Paul McCartney and George Harrison resented his creativity
In the mid-1960s, Lennon said he dealt with a creative slump. He pulled back his songwriting contributions, but he continued writing more in the later years of the decade. One of the songs he was excited about in 1968 was “Revolution.” Harrison and McCartney didn’t seem to share the sentiment.
“When George and Paul and all of them were on holiday, I made ‘Revolution’ which is on the LP,” Lennon said in The Beatles Anthology. “I wanted to...

When a director circles a project, it can be a tentative proposition – as we all discovered last week when word began to spread that David Leitch was likely to make the next Jurassic World entry, before he swiftly dropped out. But things are apparently much more promising for Bumblebee director (and Laika studio boss) Travis Knight, who is closing in on a deal to handle the new live-action Masters Of The Universe film.
According to Deadline's sources, Knight has yet to sign, but it's looking good for him — especially since Chris Butler, a veteran Laika writer and director – is polishing the script. But they'll need all the help they can get, as this is one that has eluded more than one studio and a host of filmmakers.

Carrie Fisher took the virginity of Indiana Jones. At least, that's how she told it while she was alive. Specifically, that's what she told me. In her own words: "I wrote it with George [Lucas.] We wrote Indiana Jones losing his virginity to Mata Hari. It went very well."
I had been asking about her work on the "Star Wars" prequel trilogy, so this answer came a bit out of left field. However, it's a little-known fact that Fisher worked as a writer on many George Lucas projects, doing an uncredited polish on the scripts for the prequels and even coming up with adventures for Indiana Jones to go on in his TV series, "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles."
So, how did Indiana Jones actually lose his virginity, and what part did Fisher play?

One could argue John Lennon‘s “Power to the People” hasn’t aged a day, especially compared to other political songs. Despite the song’s greatness, John had a significant issue with its lyrics in retrospect. He named the political figure who inspired him to write the tune. In addition, John explained why he felt the politics of the 1960s hadn’t made the world more utopian.
John Lennon felt ‘Power to the People’ didn’t portray power correctly
John’s solo oeuvre was a lot more political than The Beatles’. Sure, the Fab Four dabbled in cultural commentary with songs like “Piggies” and “Revolution,” but social issues were a much more prominent theme in John’s work. To this day, “Give Peace a Chance,” “Imagine,” “God,” and “Working Class Hero” are all stirring statements about a world that has changed far too little.

This article contains spoilers for Masters of the Universe: Revolution.
The big twist at the end of Masters of the Universe: Revelation Part 2 was the reveal of Hordak (Keith David), the main villain of the original 1985 She-Ra series. Masters of the Universe: Revolution directly follows on from that, with Skeletor (Mark Hamill) working for and eventually betraying Hordak.
Episode 4 has the two duke it out in a battle right out of kids playtime, with Hordak’s legs even shapeshifting into a rocket. Skeletor manages to gain the upper-hand and seemingly kills Hordak, stabbing him through the heart. That isn’t the end of him, though.
The fifth and final episode of Revolution has Skeletor defeated and Eternia saved. It feels like the show is wrapping itself up, ready to close out this chapter in the Motu franchise. Then, nope, we get a final scene that sends the show hurtling in an incredible new direction.

Review: Back in 2021, I gave a glowing review to Kevin Smith’s revival of He-Man. Titled Masters of the Universe: Revelation, the Netflix original was released in two five-episode drops, both of which I loved. A blend of modern animation techniques coupled with a throwback to the Filmation style of the 1980s cartoon, Revelation was blasted online by a vocal minority who disliked Smith’s decision to “kill off” Prince Adam in the first episode and make the series centered on Teela and many of the female characters. By the end of the full series, Smith’s vision came to fruition, even though many fans were not swayed. The second...
