‘American Terror Tales 2’ Review (Amazon Prime)
Image
Stars: Luba Hansen, Daniel Johnson, Scott Gaver, Jesse L. Green, Steve Delgado, Michelle Gernon, Corey Taylor, Cortney Costanzo, Melissa Miller, Nina Rose | Written and Directed by Dustin Ferguson, Brad Twig, George James Fraser, Joe Lujan

Opening with a scene featuring a homeless guy seemingly psychically willed to upchuck his own intestines by a skull-faced silent killer, it’s safe to say American Terror Tales 2 gets off to an auspicious start. What follows is an anthology that features three unconnected stories in a film that touches upon some genre stand-bys, delivering some grisly, gory fearful fun.

The opener House of Profane (not to be confused with the long-gestating The Profane Exhibit) continues on from that opener and tells the story of a group of “teens” who decide to put each other to the test by spending the night in a house owned by someone called Skullface. Now I wouldn’t want...

Two Evil Eyes (1990)
This Week in The Vault: 'Two Evil Eyes' With Ted Raimi and Jeremy Kasten
Two Evil Eyes (1990)
In this week's installment of The Vault, we have gathered director Jeremy Kasten (The Wizard of Gore, The Profane Exhibit) and actor/director Ted Raimi (Evil Dead, Army of Darkness, Morbid Minutes) to discuss Two Evil Eyes.

1990's Two Evil Eyes marks the first collaboration between George Romero and Dario Argento since 1978's Dawn of the Dead. Two Evil Eyes is actually an anthology movie that never quite came together, and instead features two hour-long films based on the stories of Edgar Allan Poe. Romero wrote and directed "The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar," which stars Adrienne Barbeau, and Argento wrote and directed "The Black Cat" with Harvey Keitel.

Previous Vault commentaries:

- Zombie with video commentary by Brian Collins & Sean Keller

- Deep Red with video commentary by Greg McDougall & Josh Thompson

- Dead & Buried with video commentary by Dave Parker & Rebekah McKendry

Indie Spotlight Review: Nobody Can Cool

by Heather Wixson

Nobody Can Cool is the rather impressive directorial debut from up-and-coming filmmaking duo Dpyx, Marcy Boyle and Rachel Holzman, who crafted a blisteringly taut and thoughtful indie crime thriller with a palpable sense of tension from start to finish. A gritty and engaging tale of deceit, violence and desperation, Nobody Can Cool is anchored by a breakout performance by Nick Principe (best known from his work in the Laid to Rest series, Madison County and...

Deodato, Lenzi, Bava & More Team Up For Horror Anthology, ‘The Book’
We have had some issues with the administrative side of the site. Otherwise, this would have been posted earlier on in the week. However, it seems like everything is stable again so I wanted to post this out there.

Ruggero Deodato, Umberto Lenzi, Enzo G. Castellari, Aldo Lado, Sergio Martino and more are names that any European horror fan should know. These directors brought us titles that are being celebrated and paid tribute to today. Through an IndieGoGo campaign, these directors are trying to team up to bring their version of a horror anthology to the fans. The horror anthology genre is growing. Acting as somewhat as a tribute to the films that said directors grew up with like Creepshow as well as creating a product out of the communal aspect of genre filmmaking community. Earlier this week, a press release went out about a new horror anthology film trying...

As a fan of extreme horror - both in tone and gross-outs - I have been keeping a close eye on The Profane Exhibit. The anthology of extreme horror will include segments directed by a collection of internationally renown filmmakers like Sergio Stivaletti (Dellamorte Dellamore), Coffin Joe (At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul), Yoshihiro Nishimura (Tokyo Gore Police), and Ruggero Deodato (Cannibal Holocaust) who returns to horror after over twenty years.

Each segment will be introduced by a different person, known collectively as the Gentlemen (regardless of gender), storytellers from important moments in horror history. Previously announced Gentlemen include Bai Ling (The Crow, Dumplings) and Tony Todd (Candyman). Joining that list are Laurence Harvey and Christina Lindberg.

Laurence is best known for his role in The Human Centipede 2, and will appear in The Human Centipede 3. Christina is best known for Thriller: A Cruel Picture (aka They Call Her One-Eye) a...

Anthology film The Profane Exhibit has been in the works for some time now, but things are moving along with casting news for the wrap-around along with more detailed descriptions of the various segments and quotes from a few directors. It's a lot of good stuff so prepare to be here awhile.

Assembling an almost surreal collection of over 100 horror icons (directors, writers, actors, musicians, etc.), Bond's vision is to present the audience with...

First Look: Uwe Boll's Basement Horror Film
Producers David Bond and Manda Manuel have been working on "The Profane Exhibit," which is a collection of thirteen international short horror films by different directors. Today, we have a first look at Uwe Boll's contribution, called "Basement," which stars Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Tara Cardinal and Clint Howard. Plot: Howard and Williams play a married couple with an ordinary life - except for the fact that they keep their starving and abused daughter in a locked basement room that she has not left in years. In this perverse nightmare scenario that is unfortunately based on fact, all the young daughter (Cardinal) wants to do is go outside and into the sun. Instead she must endure daily cruelties. This is a tale of sexual depravity and psychological torture and a subversive look at the depraved realities of suburban life. The company behind the film says that "Basement" may...

Uwe Boll's Sick Sick 'Basement'
The Profane Exhibit is an anthology of 13 horror films from different countries. My favorite German director, Uwe Boll, made his about that really sick story about an Austrian father who locked his daughter in the basement and raped her.

You Know Boll has been dying to make a film about this since he first heard the story in 2008. Apparently, an Austrian man decided to rape his daughter, repeatedly, and locked her in a basement for 24 years. 24 Years. She had kids down there, and everything. Neighbors didn't know, no one knew. Even his wife, the girl's mother, claimed not to know exactly what happened. How fucked is that?

So fucked that Boll knew he needed to film it.

I'm not sure excatly what The Profane Exhibit is, except that is seems to be some kind of anthology of short horror frolm 13 different directors. Interesting to note, one of the directors is a woman,...

New Info on The Profane Exhibit
News on the upcoming anthology film The Profane Exhibit continues to pour across my scalpel and syringe-littered desk at an alarming rate. (As a doctor, I keep all the most important tools right at hand, rusty or otherwise). And it seems each time we get an update, it's more impressive than the last. This one is no different.

Not only have producers David Bond and Amanda Manuel snared Sergio Stivaletti as the newest director added to this gruesome gathering, but they've also announced Eihi Shinna is the initial actress tagged for Yoshihiro Nishimura's Jigoku portion of the film. That's a win-win, folks. In fact, there's so much winning going on with the pre-production of The Profane Exhibit, I'm figuring somebody there must have Tiger Blood. (Sorry, had to shoehorn in one last Charlie Sheen joke. Too late? Yeah, probably too late…but humor me, huh?)
