John Cusack and Elijah Wood in Grand Piano (2013)

FAQ

Grand Piano

FAQ

Excellent observation! In USA, ideas cannot be copyright. Only words. It's possible that it's the same studio or producers or financiers behind both. That movie came out in 2002, 11 years prior, so it might have something to do with it. It could be they're trying to create a new sub-genre.

With that said, there is a documentary on Script Spies: only in America can 2 movies come out at nearly the same time, and the audiences not bat an eyelash. Ex: A Bug's Life - Antz. Shakespeare in Love and Elizabeth. Snow White and the Huntsman - Mirror Mirror. The documentary stated that one movie will be written and start filming first. The script spy hands the script to the rival production compan who rushes to write and cast their own copy of the original, and they end up stealing the thunder off the original, appearing to thus be themselves the original movie, when---all along---they are the script thieves. So far, nothing other than the aforementioned documentary has been done to expose this. Think about 13 Going on 30 where they touch at magazine spies. Same principle, except with scripts.

The late musicians Swiss Bank security box in which he stashed away his fortunes. Only the perfectly skilled playing of the last 4 bars of the unplayable piece will reveal the skeleton key.
