We're burning through so many storylines at the pace of a wildfire.
Of all the installments thus far, Station 19 Season 7 Episode 3 perfectly encapsulated how the truncated final season has resulted in the series attempting to cram a bunch of storylines into half the time.
And it's such an unfortunate thing. So many of the storylines we have right now deserve breathing room to develop properly.
If there were times during Station 19 Season 6 when it felt like storylines were dragging on too long, the current season has the opposite effect.
One's head is spinning from how many different things are introduced only to shift.
It's still a bit jarring how they shuffled Jack Gibson off into the sunset with little indication of his future. Based on our Grey Damon interview, it doesn't sound like we'll be finding out anything new about what Jack is up to anytime soon.

Aubrey Plaza and Dan Levy, the stars of “Happiest Season,” are reunited for short film “Decades of Confusion,” which is basically a commercial for fashion brand Loewe. If only Plaza could spell it.
It ain’t your average retail ad: “Black Mirror” director Ally Pankiw directed the short that was penned by “Good Grief” and “Schitt’s Creek” star Levy.
Plaza stars as a contestant in a spelling bee that spans each decade from 1971 to the present day. Levy is the (frustrated) judge. Plaza may not be able to spell “Loewe”, but she sure can put together an outfit from the fashion house. Plaza combs the Loewe archives to transform into a new character for the ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, 2000s…
“Wigs, iconic looks from the Loewe archive, and wrong answers — from 1971 to present day,” the tagline reads.
Plaza is next set to star in Ethan Coen’s dark comedy “Honey Don’t!...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Station 19 Season 7 Episode 2 “Good Grief.”] This isn’t the first time that Jack (Grey Damon) has stepped away from Station 19, but it very well looks like it will be the last. Due to his brain injury, he can no longer be a firefighter. That’s hard for Jack to accept as Station 19‘s final season continues, but it is something we’ll see. Below, Damon talks about filming that last scene, Jack and Andy’s (Jaina Lee Ortiz) relationship, and the end of the series. How much did you know about what would be going on with Jack at the last season’s finale? Grey Damon: Not a lot actually. I hit them up and...

Jackson and John David Washington,...

Dan Levy is recalling the first time he hosted Saturday Night Live and how the presence of Drew Barrymore comforted him.
While making an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the Schitt’s Creek alum remembered running into Barrymore at a Covid testing area in 2021 ahead of his turn as hot on the NBC late-night sketch show.
“I was just about to do Saturday Night Live [and] I had never been so nervous in my entire life,” Levy recalled. “And I saw your face, and it was like an instant balm. There are moments when you need a little bit of a life raft, and I looked over and saw you and was like, ‘Today’s gonna be Ok.’ The nerves are gonna be fine.”
The run-in was a little different from Barrymore’s perspective, as she says she was nervous about meeting Levy.

Dan Levy is "haunted" by his decision to turn down a role in 'Barbie'.The former 'Schitt's Creek' star was asked to play one of the Kens in Greta Gerwig's blockbuster smash hit but he was unable to accept the part because of scheduling conflicts and he admitted it was a "tough" decision to have to make.He told People magazine: "Logistically, could not make it work despite desperately trying to. So, yeah, I guess I was technically unavailable to do that."Does it haunt me when I sleep at night? Sometimes. It's not like it isn't one of the biggest movies of all time. That was a tough day."The 40-year-old actor found it particularly difficult to turn down the role because he's such a big fan of the director. He said: "I think Greta has such a, like, wonderfully bizarre and magical aesthetic idea of what that movie was.

Dan Levy, who was championing Adele early in her career, reveals he had to push to get her on MTV Canada.
The Schitt’s Creek star made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Friday night and recalled discovering the once “little-known musician” when she was promoting her first album, 19, in the U.K. in 2008.
Levy fell in love with her, so when he got a job at MTV Canada shortly after and learned she was touring in Canada, he knew he had to get her on the show MTV Live. But he was met with his bosses not quite sharing the same level of excitement as him.

“The Last of Us” Season 2 has found its Abby.
The fan-favorite character, a conflicted soldier embroiled in conflict between her own post-apocalyptic militia and a religious cult, will be played by Kaitlyn Dever. Production is set to begin in February, with filming on the critically revered and Daytime Emmy-winning show previously postponed due to the since-ended strikes.
In Naughty Dog’s “The Last of Us Part II,” released for PlayStation 4 in January 2020, Abby is as much a co-lead of the game as the original’s star, Ellie (played by Bella Ramsey in the series). Throughout the game, players alternate between Ellie and Abby’s points of view in fighting off humans infected by Cordyceps as well as their fellow survivors left in the United States. “Part II” takes players from rural Wyoming to a dystopian Seattle.
No spoilers, but the sequel game finds Ellie and Abby on a collision course...

Nearly six months after its release, and perfectly timed to its powerful awards momentum, Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” (Universal), now renting for $5.99 ahead of its unannounced Peacock debut, repeats as #1 at iTunes and Google Play this week.
Both platforms rank by transactions. “Trolls Band Together,” also Universal and still renting at $19.99, is #1 at Vudu, where revenue determines the top 10. They list “Oppenheimer” #3, tops among lower-priced entries, reinforcing its draw. “Trolls” is second at iTunes, #5 at Google Play.

The 2024 Netflix film titled Good Grief gets trapped in the beautiful scenery and aesthetic obsessions of London and Paris, and for a moment, it forgets that it has some grave things to explore. Grief is a universal emotion, and some have it worse than others, but it really is a luxury in this world to get a chance to sit with that emotion and process it. There are people in this world who don’t even get a second for themselves as they are buried with responsibilities. Good Grief is not set in that kind of world.
It is, to put it mildly, a film set in a world of opulence and a lot of leisurely feeling. Marcus (Dan Levy) and Oliver (Luke Evans), a gay couple living in London, have an open marriage, and neither one of them is ready to admit that there are problems in their arrangement.

Grief is another version of love, a special form of it that causes a lot of pain, but it’s also an assurance that the love was real. It is the inherent goodness of the grieving process that the new drama film titled Good Grief wants to explore, but it has a tough time giving us an insight into the mind of a grieving individual. We get a story about friendship, coping mechanisms, casual flings, and overcoming grief with very little complexity. The story is nudged towards a very specific ending in a heavy-handed manner, which leaves a very icky feeling, as it implies that the results were not reached organically. The performances are good, but there are some scenes where the drama is unnecessarily heightened without having a solid foundation at the character level.

This article contains some Good Grief spoilers.
For the entirety of Good Grief, I couldn’t look away from Dan Levy’s sweater: that excellent cable-knit style popularized in recent films like Knives Out, yet here in a lovely dove gray unlike the usual preppy cream. It was also radically different from the black-and-white jumpers he modeled as David Rose in the dramedy Schitt’s Creek, establishing that queer character’s distinctive fashion sense in a uniform that would recur even with his emotional development. Yet it feels like a costuming through-line to Levy’s next memorable character, widower Marcus, in his feature debut as a writer-director.
Here the sweater signifies the very human desperation to hold on to something of the past, even when it brings us pain. As Marc learns through his own figurative unraveling after a year of grief, a memento like that doesn’t have to be...

As a publicist, Megan Zehmer helped navigate Schitt’s Creek’s rise from beloved CBC comedy to streaming juggernaut that eventually won seven Primetime Emmys for its final season in 2020.
Some two years on from that awards show, Zehmer found herself after hours at the Musee de L’Orangerie on a location scout in Paris for Levy’s directorial debut, Good Grief, which was also Zehmer’s first film as a producer. The month of January traditionally marks the year’s biggest lull in film releases. As everyone returns to work after the holidays and begins to focus on New Year’s resolutions, the month is typically devoted to award season campaigning and catching up on December releases that viewers may have missed.
But while new theatrical offerings may be slim, the simultaneous beauty and curse of our streaming culture means that we always have more movies at our fingertips than anyone could watch in a lifetime. And per usual, Netflix has revamped its film library in order to satisfy cinephiles seeking a trip down memory lane this month. New additions include beloved blockbuster trilogies such as the original “Jurassic Park” films and the first three “John Wick” movies, both of which should delight anyone who wishes the summer movie season was here already. There’s also an underrated Quentin Tarantino film,...

A sensitive but almost fatally self-absorbed death drama that has much to say and little to feel, Dan Levy’s “Good Grief” is determined to convince you that life is better confronted than run from; in the plainspoken words of a character who brings the message home in the movie’s final minutes, “to avoid sadness is also to avoid love.” The moral is true, but the delivery feels unconvincing at the end of this movie, a story of private loss and shared friendship that reflects its protagonist’s struggle to integrate the two.
But if Levy’s Netflix film proves to be a strangely precocious debut for a 40-year-old success who already has a hit TV show to his name (Levy co-created “Schitt’s Creek” and steered the sitcom throughout its run), its broad and unrelentingly fabulous characters still manage — if only by accident — to convey something about grief that...

For loyal Netflix users who have been booting up the Big N since before Blockbuster went the way of the Dodo, it must feel like deja vu. If you go to your streaming app right now in the U.S., the available movie selection is still dominated by Netflix originals that the algorithm desperately wants you to be aware of. Maestro; Society of the Snow; maybe the new Dan Levy project, Good Grief. However, if you scroll past those—or look simply at the top 10 movies on the app at the moment—you see a more striking story being told.
The Equalizer 3; The Meg 2; The Super Mario Bros. Movie. All are major studio-released intellectual property, and all of the films came out in the last year—in the last six months in the cases of The Equalizer 3 and The Meg 2. And if you broaden the net to 18 months ago,...

Schitt’s Creek co-creator, Dan Levy, brings us an authentic tale of complicated love, gut-wrenching loss and anguished healing in his directorial debut, Good Grief – currently streaming on Netflix. Serving as writer, director, producer and lead actor in the comedy-drama, Good Grief serves as a reminder of the well-rounded talents of Levy himself, above all else. Yet, the film arguably leaves viewers wanting more – and not in the way Levy may have intended.
Good Grief sees Dan Levy play the role of Marc Dreyfus; a married painter turned children’s book illustrator struggling to deal with the losses of his husband and mother. The film follows Marc’s grief alongside his ragtag best friends, Thomas (Himesh Patel) and Sophie (Ruth Negga), each with their own problems in love. While Marc combats the sheer emptiness that comes with the tragic death of your other half, Thomas ponders why he is unable to...

A nearly unrecognizable Sofia Vergara playing a cartel boss, a new retelling of the story of the Uruguayan rugby team that crash-landed in the Andes in 1972, Kevin Hart assembling a team for a daring heist and Dan Levy dealing with loss and grief are among the standout projects hitting Netflix this January.
Spanish director J.A. Bayona’s Society of the Snow lands on Netflix on Jan. 4. The film is the latest cinematic retelling of the miraculous story of the Uruguayan rugby team that crash-landed on a glacier in the heart of the Andes in 1972, with the survivors being forced to resort to extreme measures to stay alive. After debuting in Venice, Society of the Snow has picked up plenty of awards on the international film festival circuit, and it recently made the shortlists in four categories for the 2024 Academy Awards, including best international feature film.
