This whole season has been depressing and confusing and exhausting, with awful inconsistent storylines that only made the main characters look like the village idiots of the story. But through it all, we kept watching, because SURELY it's all leading to something! Right? Right???
Nope. All of those nonsense plots, the character embarrassments and misery, only added up to the most ridiculous and depressing episode of all. And ironically, I've never laughed harder. It was so absurd and unnecessarily over the top that it became a comedy of errors.
How easily that hospital fell apart only left me feeling like it just needs to be shut down completely. It could barely even function under the best circumstances. Everyone who works there are complete trainwrecks and would be better off leaving. Going to that hospital seems like a greater risk to the patients lives than medical debt.
Speaking of the patients--I could list several patient stories from the first 2 seasons that truly moved me. I don't even think I could recount 2 patients from this entire season... they've become pointless background filler for the leads to project their relationship troubles on to and nothing more. What used to be the heart of this show is now the least memorable, and that's a real shame.
The final shot of our now "independent" leads, prancing around with flowers in the sunshine as if their lives are on top of the world, now staring blankly at their "fearless leader" looking like a complete fool, was the cherry on top of this s- cake. They seem to all be in denial of how they've completely destroyed their lives. If that was intentional? Bravo. But the greatest joke of them all seems to be the writers thinking anyone would care to come back to see what happens next to these manic narcissists.
This show earned its early cancelation long before it reached its lowest point the last several episodes, but after that finale, why bother coming back at all.
