Newly promoted DCI Carol Farman calls on the help of retired Detective Ridley, when the body of a local farmer is found, and perhaps related to a cold case.
I looked forward to this quite a lot, I had high expectations, and happily, for the most part, those expectations were met, this was a very, very good first episode.
It introduced the characters, explained Ridley's role going forward, and presented us with two interesting mysteries.
There is no denying the sheer brilliance of Adrian Dunbar, I totally bought into Ridley, he's a haunted figure, but intelligent and caring, at no point did I feel like I was watching Ted Hastings, such is the quality of his acting, Ridley's a whole new character.
Bronagh Waugh did a really good job here as DI Carol Farman, she's an interesting character, such a talented actress, you'd never know she was from Northern Ireland, not Manchester.
I was quite surprised by the size of the cast, it's been one of the first shows for some time, where no evidence of Covid measures has seemed to impact.
Really enjoyed this, 8/10.
