Buffy Summers might be returning to our television screens in the near future and the planned Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot just got a big update.
In addition to Sarah Michelle Gellar joining the cast to reprise her role as Buffy Summers, the project has landed its first new slayer in actor Ryan Kiera Armstrong (via Deadline). Horror fans might recognize her from the 2022 Firestarter remake or from the tenth season of American Horror Story.
According to the outlet, the 15-year-old actor has been cast "as an introverted high-school student" in the latest Buffyverse project. Since she is also allegedly a slayer, we can assume she might be something of an outcast at school and then find her purpose when she's selected as the next generation's slayer. Buffy is likely to act as a mentor for her.
But keep in mind that, currently, the reboot is only in the pilot stage.

The hunt for the new Chosen One is over, as the Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot has found its chosen one. Sarah Michelle Gellar took to a video call to share the great news with the Canadian actress, and it led to a tearful (in a good way!) acceptance.
Ryan Kiera Armstrong will take on the role of the new slayer in the Buffy reboot. She will work along side Gellar, who is returning as Buffy from the original series. There isn’t a reboot without her, and this series was not going to happen without her blessing. Gellar has shared that she wasn’t open to a reboot unless it was done correctly, and now the right people have come together with the right idea!

The “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” reboot pilot at Hulu has found its new slayer — Ryan Kiera Armstrong.
Armstrong has been cast in a lead role in the pilot opposite returning star Sarah Michelle Gellar. The pilot was originally announced at Hulu back in February. Exact plot details are under wraps, but sources previously said the pilot will focus on a new slayer with Gellar appearing in a recurring role as Buffy.
“From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side,” Gellar said. “To have that kind of emotional intelligence , and talent, at such a young age is truly gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room.”
Gellar also shared a video on Instagram in which she tells Armstrong she got the role, which can be seen below.

Ryan Murphy has given us chills so far with American Horror Story, courtroom drama with American Crime Story, and even sports scandals with American Sports Story. However, the creator is about to show us romance with a feel of everything that has been said before. The upcoming FX series American Love Story, starring Naomi Watts, will show the tragic story of one of America’s most popular couples in the ’90s.
The story of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy was almost like a fairytale, but because of heavy media scrutiny, it was not without rumors and controversy. It has everything a filmmaker would love to work on, but it also raises the question of how closely the series will stick to real life. Let’s explore.

Kate Mara will star in the vampire romantic comedy She Kills Them, Variety has learned.
She’ll play Chloe Jacobs, a woman in her late 30s living a dangerous double life. By night, she seduces and slays vampires as part of a secret government operation. By day, she’s just another jaded New Yorker trying to figure out her personal life. But when she meets Eric — someone she actually connects with — her two worlds collide.
Dan Clark (“How Not to Live Your Life”) will write and direct with Matthew E. Chausse producing.
“Imagine if ‘Buffy’ grew up to become ‘Fleabag,’” said Clark. “While there’s action and vampires, this is ultimately a grounded, character-driven romantic comedy — think Silver Linings Playbook with the occasional kick-ass fight sequence.”
London-based Tea Shop Films and Paris-based The Project are behind the film.
They said in a joint statement, “We love seeing a romantic comedy...

“American Love Story,” Ryan Murphy’s upcoming FX series following the relationship between John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, has found two of its major players: Naomi Watts will play Jackie Kennedy, while newcomer Paul Kelly leads the series as JFK Jr.
They join the cast alongside Sarah Pidgeon, who was previously announced to be playing Bessette-Kennedy.
The series will mark the fourth collaboration between Murphy and Watts. Most recently, in 2024, she played Babe Paley in “Capote vs. The Swans,” the second season of Murphy’s FX anthology series following historic celebrity rivalries. In 2022, she led Murphy’s Netflix horror series “The Watcher” opposite Bobby Cannavale, and next, she will appear in “All’s Fair,” Murphy’s upcoming Hulu legal drama starring Kim Kardashian.

“American Love Story” has found its Jackie Kennedy in Naomi Watts, TheWrap has learned. Meanwhile, newcomer Paul Kelly will play John F. Kennedy Jr. in the upcoming FX anthology series from Ryan Murphy.
Both join the previously announced Sarah Pidgeon, who will play Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. FX and 20th Television declined to comment on this story.
The latest spinoff in the “American Story” universe, “American Love Story” was ordered in 2021 and has been described as “a scripted anthology series of sweeping true love stories that captured the world’s attention.” Its first season will portray the whirlwind courtship and marriage of JFK Jr. and Bessette-Kennedy. When the two first got together, they were regarded as American royalty. But the more they were scrutinized by the tabloid media, the more their relationship began to fray. It all came to an end in 1999 with the tragic plane crash that resulted in the deaths of JFK Jr.

Kim Kardashian plays a powerhouse divorce attorney running an all-female law firm alongside Naomi Watts and Niecy Nash-Betts in the trailer for Ryan Murphy’s All’s Fair legal drama, which dropped on Tuesday.
The series, to be teased at Disney’s Upfronts presentation on Tuesday, portrays women helping women to leave their cheating, scoundrel husbands. As an in-your-face Glenn Close, in the role of Dina Standish, tells a client at one point in the trailer: “Get mad! Get hot! Get revenge!”
Kardashian plays Allura Grant, the law firm’s owner in the legal drama that promises mediation room struggles, stylish power suits and clinking champagne glasses — all to secure pricey divorce settlements. “You’re right. Everything we’re going to show you today, you should be intimately familiar with,” Kardashian tells a cocky husband during one tense mediation session.

When CBS first ordered a "Matlock" reboot back in 2023, the decision may have been a head-scratcher to some. Even aside from the fact that most of the cast of the original "Matlock" have passed away and their fans were likely nearing 60 years of age at least, the television landscape is already so crowded with courtroom dramas that an addition of this kind could understandably feel unnecessary. Speaking for those of us who held that opinion back then, we're happy to have been proven wrong.
"Matlock" is an unexpectedly fresh TV show with a unique perspective on the legal procedural genre, buoyed by a cast that flaunts comedic and dramatic talent in equal measure. This doesn't come as too much of a surprise if you recognize them from previous films and television shows, which include some of the best comedies and dramas TV has ever seen. From "The Office" and "Pitch Perfect...

We're still three months away from the long-awaited premiere of Wednesday Season 2 on Netflix, but Lady Gaga is already getting into the spirit of her guest-starring role in the series, and the streaming service has responded in kind. Debuting in 2022, Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega as the titular member of the Addams Family who, after being expelled from her school, continues her studies at Nevermore Academy, a private institution for monstrous outcasts in the town of Jericho, Vermont.
Performing to a record-breaking audience on Copacabana Beach in Rio, Gaga used a sandbox for a couple of numbers, and among the many props included were what appeared to be a scarred hand that resembled Thing, the sentient disembodied appendage that keeps watch over Wednesday. It's no secret that Gaga will appear in the upcoming season of the hit Netflix series, but what does remain a mystery is what role she'll play. Regardless,...

The Smurfs are back, but whether that’s a good thing or not, we’re not quite sure. These blue creatures have been a pop culture staple for decades, and now they’re making a comeback in Smurfs, a reboot set for release in 2025. Unlike previous adaptations, however, this one will be a musical, with, perhaps, more surprises along the way.
PG movies are making a box office comeback, even outperforming PG-13 films last year. Paul Dergarabedian from Comscore says they’re becoming a real summer force. And while streaming is always there, filmmakers like Dean Fleischer Camp (Lilo & Stitch) believe nothing beats the magic of a movie theater, especially for kids.
With an all-star cast and an attempt to break down the Smurf mythology, this could either be a delightful trip down memory lane or yet another miss for the franchise. Let’s break it all down, and what we know about the project.

When most people these days think about TV writer and producer Ryan Murphy, they're most likely to think of one of his many horror-based projects. He's created or co-created a number of high-profile horror projects over the years, from the ambitious anthology series "American Horror Story" to dramatizations of true crime stories ranging from Jeffrey Dahmer to O.J. Simpson. Blood and guts just seem to be a part of his creative vision. For fans who have been following the campy creator for a long time, however, his habit for horror storytelling really isn't a surprise, because he created one of the gnarliest (and most exploitative) medical dramas of all time: "Nip/Tuck."
"Nip/Tuck" followed Miami-based plastic surgeons Dr. Christian Troy (Julian McMahon) and Dr. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) as they dealt with a whole lot more than a few nips and tucks. There were torrid affairs, a couple of love triangles,...

Disney TV’s studio head has offered an update on the future of American Horror Story. In an interview with Deadline, Eric Schrier gave an update on life after season 13 of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's anthology series.

According to Disney TV studios chief, Eric Schrier, during an interview with Deadline, the money and support will continue rolling in “as long as Ryan has an idea.” And, judging by his creative imagination that has brought other successful shows like Doctor Odyssey into open waters, there’s no end in sight for American Horror Story.
Explaining how the production process behind the beloved title goes down, Schrier explained,
“The way we work with Ryan is different than with other creators, he’s in a select few group of people that,...

American Horror Story might need to find an entirely new cast when it returns for Season 13 — whenever that is. The show has enlisted many actors since its beginning, bringing back many of them for subsequent installments. Patti Lupone appeared in two seasons of the anthology series, her latest being American Horror Story: NYC. However, it doesn't seem like she's interested in screaming her lungs out in another season. "Yeah, I don't think so," the Agatha All Along star told Gold Derby when asked if she would consider returning for an all-star Season 13 that has been rumored to be in development. Ryan Murphy has expressed interest in bringing the old gang together. "I think he was probably talking about the guys," Lupone said, laughing.
"Now I’m excited that Sarah [Paulson] is interested in it again. I’m excited that Evan [Peters] — in the right part — would be interested. There’s...

LuPone first appeared in American Horror Story: Coven (Season 3) playing the role of Joan Ramsey. The Agatha All Along actress returned to the horror series in Season 11 for American Horror Story: NYC.

Patti LuPone recently joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe for Disney+'s Agatha All Along, in which she plays a 450-year-old Sicilian witch named Lilia Calderu. "Lilia, oh Lilia! Will you be my Lilia? Oh Lilia, the tattooed lady!" LuPone exclaims in a sing-song manner during her recent sit-down with Gold Derby, demonstrating her passion for talking about this character. "Lilia Calderu, yeah. I didn't have an accent in this one. You'd think I would have."

Like Michael or Jason, audiences can always expect American Horror Story to return with another gruesome tale. However, what if something unspeakable happened? What if there were no new season?
Honestly, horror lovers have been spoiled quite a bit over the last few decades. From broadcast and streaming to big-budget and indie films, horror has been on the rise.
That is primarily due to the tireless efforts of the talented writers behind every season of American Horror Story.

The series gets a lot of grief for being a hit-or-miss with the seasonal stories.

Kathy Bates is winning cases on screen, and might win over Emmy voters next.
Bates, a titan of stage and screen, is poised to make Emmy history this year. If she receives a nomination for her magnetic performance in CBS’s “Matlock” reboot, she will become the oldest nominee ever in the lead drama actress category — at the age of 77.
Bates, born June 28, 1948, would be just two weeks past her birthday when the 2025 Emmy nominations are announced on July 17. Should her name be called — as many believe she’s the current frontrunner in the category — she would surpass the record held by Angela Lansbury, who was 70 when she received her final nomination in 1996 for “Murder, She Wrote.”
In “Matlock,” Bates plays Madeline “Matty” Matlock, a woman who reenters the legal world decades after retiring under seemingly tragic circumstances. The public version of her story is that she was widowed and...

Bosch: Legacy may be ending, but the world of Harry Bosch is far from shutting down. As confirmed by series lead Titus Welliver, the upcoming spin-off Ballard—led by Maggie Q—is already on the way, with plans to arrive sometime in 2025. Viewers will be introduced to Maggie Q’s character, Renee Ballard, in the final episode of Bosch: Legacy Season 3. While the spin-off will dive deep into her cold case unit and a whole new supporting cast, her dynamic with Bosch will be central to the plot of the show, as Welliver told The Direct.
“Well, we introduce Renee Ballard in the 10th and final episode… That’s where she and Harry cross paths,” Welliver said. “He becomes kind of a mentor and has an almost paternal relationship with her. We don’t really have the time to establish that [in one episode], but we see them kind of at a point of impact.

Six years ago, Michelle Williams won the Best Limited/Movie Actress Emmy for her role as actress-dancer Gwen Verdon in FX's Fosse/Verdon (2019). Now, Williams could become the 15th actress to win at least two Emmys in this specific category, thanks to her role on FX's Dying for Sex.
Williams plays Molly Kochan, a terminal cancer patient whose tragic, often funny, and wild sexual journey is at the heart of the story. Kochan’s podcast, cohosted with her friend Nikki Boyer, serves as the foundation for the series, which dives deeply into themes of sex, desire, friendship, and death.
The last person to win double Emmys in Best Limited/Movie Actress was Kate Winslet for Mildred Pierce (2011) and Mare of Easttown (2021). It took her 10 years to claim the bookend trophy, while Williams could accomplish the feat in just six years. Should Williams prevail, both actresses would also be undefeated in this race.

As you start to look through the list of Ryan Murphy shows, you’ll find that there are way more than you initially thought. He’s the man behind Glee, Scream Queens, American Horror Story, and so much more. There’s simply no way that you can watch everything in a short space of time, and there are some shows just not as good as others.
How do you know if something is worth watching or skipping, though? After all, something can seem great from the premise, but then you get into two episodes and realize that it’s just not what was promised. The good news is I’ve watched the majority of his shows now, and I can tell you the ones that just don’t quite hit the mark. I have the four that you definitely want to watch, and the three that are just worth skipping.

There’s at least one more season of American Horror Story on the horizon and details about the upcoming Season 13 are starting to come in.
It’s difficult for any television series to sustain itself for a dozen seasons, but American Horror Story has experienced a particularly fascinating trajectory that’s often more chaotic than it is creative. There’s been an increasingly blasé approach to American Horror Story seasons that it’s sometimes easy to forget about the tremendous pomp and circumstance that surrounded the early seasons and how each year’s theme would be teased and revealed like a major event. As a Steven Spielberg project films in the area, the Made in Huntington Film & TV Festival is officially launching, with the awards ceremony streaming April 7 on NewsdayTV through a new deal with the festival, Variety can exclusively reveal.
Starting Thursday and running through April 6, the festival is hosting 14 public screenings, with a total of 35 titles chosen from 100 submissions. For festival executive producer and Huntington’s director of film and television Joe Schramm, the festival is a unique opportunity to highlight production opportunities in Long Island.
“Huntington is a unique place because a lot of television and film executives, producers, directors and screenwriters live here,” Schramm tells Variety. “I’m a little surprised — there are a lot of people who, like myself, work for the same companies over the years and, now that they’re semi-retiring, they’re becoming filmmakers at age 55 or 60 for the first time.”

Earlier this week, Sony Pictures released a new poster for “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” which stars “General Hospital” alum Nicholas Alexander Chavez (ex-Spencer Cassadine) and sees Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt (“9-1-1”) reprising their roles from the iconic film of the same name which set off the franchise in 1997.
Like the first film, the new iteration sees five friends inadvertently cause a deadly car accident. To cover up their involvement, they make a pact to keep it a secret rather than face the consequences. A year later, their past comes back to haunt them, and they’re forced to confront a horrifying truth: Someone knows what they did last summer and is hell-bent on revenge. As one by one the friends are stalked by a killer, they discover this has happened before, and they turn to the two survivors of the legendary Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.

There was a time not so long ago when a guest spot on "Law & Order" was a rite of passage for any up-and-coming actor. You could hardly find an actor in the greater New York metropolitan area who didn't have a credit on the popular procedural to their name. Honestly, it makes sense why it would serve as such a great launching pad: Each episode required an entirely new cast of supporting players, often of all ages and backgrounds, creating lots of opportunities for aspiring actors to get some screen time.
While "Law & Order" often had costar roles available, who were basically the leads for that given week, often getting the meatiest material, there were also plenty of "under-five" parts for newbies to cut their teeth on. Like the guy who gets questioned while unloading boxes down at the pier, that kind of thing. So obviously, over the...

The duo starred together in the 1997 horror classic I Know What You Did Last Summer and its 1998 sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.
WIth a poster dropping today, we wouldn't be shocked to see the first teaser trailer drop during the studio's presentation on Monday night. It should among a handful of upcoming Sony projects highlighted during the event.
