Cora Sue Collins, Celebrated Child Actress at MGM in the 1930s, Dies at 98
Image
Cora Sue Collins, the charming child actress of the 1930s and ’40s who worked alongside such legends as Greta Garbo, Claudette Colbert, Bette Davis, Irene Dunne and Merle Oberon during her brief but sensational career, has died. She was 98.

Collins died Sunday at her home in Beverly Hills of complications from a stroke, her daughter, Susie Krieser, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Collins played younger versions of Colbert in Torch Singer (1933), Frances Dee in The Strange Case of Clara Deane (1932) and Keep ‘Em Rolling (1934), Loretta Young in Caravan (1934), Oberon in The Dark Angel (1935) and Lynn Bari in Blood and Sand (1941).

“I must have the most common face in the world,” she said in a 2019 interview. “I played either the most famous actresses of the ’30s as a child or their child. They made me up to look like everybody.”

The MGM contract player also was William Powell and Myrna Loy’s...

Image
Like the opening act at a live show, the 20th anniversary re-issue of Pride & Prejudice got audiences ready for potential box office fireworks next weekend, when Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith returns to theaters in celebration of its own 20th anniversary. Starring Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen as Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, the Jane Austen adaptation debuted in 2005. It has since developed quite a reputation as a cult classic, while its two stars’ reputations have grown considerably.

Incidentally, it made $2.8 million in its original opening weekend two decades ago. The film’s running domestic haul now stands at $41 million; it made nearly $130 million worldwide against a reported budget of under $30 million. Pride & Prejudice marked Joe Wright’s...

Pierce Brosnan Supports Aaron Taylor-Johnson as James Bond Candidate
Pierce Brosnan at an event for The Ghost Writer (2010)
Pierce Brosnan has weighed in on ongoing speculation around the future of the James Bond franchise, voicing support for actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson as a potential replacement for Daniel Craig.

In a recent interview with Yahoo Entertainment, Brosnan reflected on Taylor-Johnson’s past performance and presence on set. The two previously worked together on the 2009 drama The Greatest, where Taylor-Johnson played a leading role.

“I think he would be very good,” Brosnan said. “I cast him in one of the movies I made a long time ago called The Greatest, actually. And he played ‘the greatest.’ This young man came on the set and took the space, filled the space with passion and energy.”

Brosnan added that Taylor-Johnson has the qualities necessary to take on the role of 007. “If he wished it, wanted it and got it, he would be great.”

Running Point: First Four Minutes, First Look Images, Cast, Plot
Image
You wouldn’t expect Running Point, a comedy about a dynastic basketball family, to open with a reference to Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, but nothing about Mindy Kaling’s latest show is predictable. Running Point, written by longtime friends and collaborators Kaling, David Stassen, and Ike Barinholtz, puts a fresh spin on the quintessential sports underdog story, with a wayward but lovable family at its core.

Enter the Gordons — the clan who run the fictional Los Angeles Waves team in Running Point. As Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) puts it, striding confidently across a squeaky court in a black power suit, “Our business is the greatest basketball franchise in the history of the game: the Los Angeles Waves. And this is the story of the fucked-up family that runs it.” Watch Isla and the rest of the Gordon family in action in the first four minutes of Season 1, above.

M. Night Shyamalan's New Romantic Thriller Recasts Main Role After Alicia Vikander's Exit
Image
A surprising collaboration between Nicholas Sparks and M. Night Shyamalan has taken a new twist. Two weeks ago, we learned that Alicia Vikander would join Jake Gyllenhaal in the film, but she has now exited the project. According to Deadline, Bridgerton's Phoebe Dynevor is now in negotiations to replace Vikander. Described as a "supernatural romantic thriller," the project will be adapted into a film helmed by Shyamalan and a novel written by Sparks.

Vikander is an Academy Award-winning actress who rose to prominence with roles in 2012's Anna Karenina and A Royal Affair. She went on to appear in movies including Ex Machina and The Danish Girl, with the latter earning her an Oscar in the Best Supporting Actress category. Dynevor, meanwhile, is one of Hollywood's rising stars, best known for her portrayal of Daphne Bridgerton in Netflix's hit Bridgerton, which gained her international recognition. Dynevor has starred in movies including The Colour Room,...

Jude Law, Keira Knightley, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Anna Karenina (2012)
All Happy Families review – childhood home is renovation project in likable indie drama
Jude Law, Keira Knightley, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Anna Karenina (2012)
An entire family gather to renovate their creaking childhood home in this easygoing, truthful portrait

“All happy families are alike,” the famous first line of Anna Karenina tells us. “But each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” The opening scene of this heart-on-sleeve American indie drama gives an almighty – and none too subtle – hint as to which sort of family is going to be the subject here. A plumber is in the basement of a family home in Chicago peering with a spy camera into the pipes. Something is rotting under the house: a rat! Worse, the ancient creaking pipes might collapse at any moment.

The house belongs to out-of-work actor and scriptwriter Graham Landry (Josh Radnor); more accurately it actually belongs to his successful older brother Will (Rob Huebel) the star of an outrageously awful hit TV series. It was their childhood home, bought by Will from their parents.

Actors Who Won Oscars Outside Of Acting Categories
Image
When Ben Affleck took home a best picture Oscar for his film "Argo," he was asked to weigh in backstage on awards season punditry. In a video shared by CNN, Affleck opted out of the way people closely track the race. "I don't get into the Oscarology, and the pontificating," he said, though he acknowledged that many people enjoy following the process. "I hope people are interested in the Oscars, because it helps our industry, and it helps make better films," he added, "but it doesn't help me."

If that's the case, Affleck may not know that he belongs to a relatively exclusive club: Actors who have won Oscars for something other than acting. Many actors who have spent decades on film sets eventually get the urge to try their hand at other aspects of the business, from producing to writing to directing. Many try, that is, but fewer succeed,...

The Hugh Jackman Fantasy Flop That Lost Warner Bros. Over $100 Million
Image
In April 2015, The Hollywood Reporter noted that Warner Bros. was preparing to "flood the market" that summer with a slate of nine films designed to fill the gap left by the absence of Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy and the "Harry Potter" films. At the time, Warner's domestic distribution chief Dan Fellman told the outlet, "It will be tough work, but I think it will pay off."

In some ways, WB's approach did pay off. The Dwayne Johnson-led "San Andreas," produced on a budget of $110 million, raked in $474 million worldwide. And while "Mad Max: Fury Road" didn't fare quite as well, making $380 million worldwide on a $150 million budget, it did at least garner critical acclaim and remains one of the best movies in the "Mad Max" saga. But one big-budget Warner project failed spectacularly on both a critical and commercial front.

Bill Skarsgård's Nosferatu Continues an Impressive 7-Year Horror Trend That May Never Be Matched
Image
The horror genre has seen some truly impressive actors over the decades. From past greats like Bella Lugosi, Boris Karloff, and Lon Chaney, to more recent stars like Robert Englund and Bruce Campbell, there's no shortage of terror icons. Now, with the release of Nosferatu, Bill Skarsgård has undoubtedly earned himself a place in the ranks of these other performers. His celebrated portrayal of the vampire, Count Orlok, extends a trend of horror success that stretches back almost to the very beginning of his career.

The son of celebrated actor Stellan Skarsgård, no stranger to horror films and thrillers himself, the younger Skarsgård has quickly built a filmography to rival his father and largely filled it with terrifying hits. From shows to movies, there's no doubt that he has a talent for the genre and, in following up the It movies with Nosferatu, he's established a trend that future actors...

Keira Knightley’s New 96% Netflix Spy Thriller Is Exactly What We’ve Been Waiting For, 17 Years After Her Last Major Potc Movie
Image
Keira Knightley’s spy thriller Black Doves is already a hit on Netflix, providing the leading, action-packed, comical, and heartfelt role that’s been missing since her last starring Pirates of the Caribbean movie. After making notable appearances in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999), Bend it Like Beckham (2002), and Love Actually (2003), Knightley skyrocketed to fame at 18 years old upon starring in the main female role in the swashbuckler hit Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003). As Elizabeth Swann, Knightley proved she was highly skilled at playing quick-witted, action-adept romantic lead characters.

Knightley would appear as Elizabeth Swann in four Pirates of the Caribbean movies; her last starring role in 2007’s At World’s End, followed by a cameo in 2017’s Dead Men Tell No Tales. During this time, Knightley also expanded her filmography through a notable string of period romances and wartime dramas,...

2025 Oscar Predictions: Best Costume Design
Image
If you want to win an Oscar for Best Costume Design, it’s best to pick a project for which you can create frilly dresses from a bygone era. Since its introduction at the 1948 Academy Awards, this category has favored period pictures, including the 2024 winner “Poor Things.” (Scroll down for the most up-to-date 2025 Oscar predictions for Best Costume Design.)

Voters love to reward the creative forces behind such films, especially those that are about the aristocracy including recent champs “Marie Antoinette” (2007), “Elizabeth: The Golden Age” (2008), “The Duchess” (2009), “The Young Victoria” (2010), and “Anna Karenina” (2013). By the way, none of those films even competed for Best Picture. Indeed, only 20 Best Picture champs also won this award; the last to do so was “The Artist” in 2012.

Among the other double dippers was “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” (2004). Fantasy films such as this often boast Oscar-winning costumes, including 2022 champ “Cruella,...

Alicia Vikander, Soon to Be Seen in ‘The Last Day’ and ‘Hope,’ Talks Motherhood and Work: ‘I Need to Do Both’

Alicia Vikander opened up about her family life at the Zurich Film Festival, where she received the Golden Eye Award.

“Sometimes, [preparing for a role] is boring and tedious. My three-year-old is wondering what’s going on, because I’m locking the doors and talking to myself,” she laughed.

“When I am done, I get very tired. Acting is physically and emotionally draining. I have two young children now, I was pregnant when making that film and that’s where most of my time goes when I am not working,” said the Swedish actor, fresh off dystopian sci-fi “The Assessment.”

Vikander’s growing multilingual family – the actor is married to Michael Fassbender – aroused festival audience’s curiosity.

All Happy Families Review: Josh Radnor's Adult Coming-of-Age Dramedy Charms
Image
Dysfunctional family dynamics are in full swing in All Happy Families. The engaging dramedy, headlined by Josh Radnor and directed by Haroula Rose, finds one family in major flux. Suddenly, all at once, its as if everything in life has changed. Perhaps more challenging to accept is the fact that they, too, must change if theyre ever going to emerge gracefully from significant life transitions.

Joining Radnor is Chandra Russell (South Side), Becky Ann Baker, John Ashton (the Beverly Hills Cop films), and Rob Huebel. The films premise finds the Landry familys collective life angst converging around the same time. One of the most refreshing aspects of the film is that it delivers a rare achievement: delivering an adult coming-of-age story, which proves that not every major life transition just happens between the ages of 11 and 18.

To that end, the filmmaker, who also co-wrote the film with Coburn Goss, suggests...

‘The Whip’ Review
Image
Stars: Meg Fozzard, Shian Denovan, Tom Knight, Ray Bullock Jr., Gala Wesson, Daniel Davids | Written by Christopher Presswell, Forgács W. András | Directed by Christopher Presswell

The Whip opens with Emily (Meg Fozzard), who suffers from a brain injury, and her sister Sadie who cares for her full time, suffering through a benefits interview. And I do mean suffering as the interviewer, somewhere between disinterested and outright hostile, gets Emily’s name wrong and asks if she has mobility issues as she sits there in her wheelchair. Despite a host of issues stemming from her injury, including short-term memory issues, shaky balance confining her to a wheelchair, and hands that shake, she’s deemed fit for work. A forgone conclusion given the government’s “Putting Ability Back into Disability” slogan for revamping the National Health Service.

Elsewhere, Michael Harrington is trying to sell these new policies to voters, and they are not buying it.

Jude Law, Keira Knightley, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Anna Karenina (2012)
Speak No Evil review – James McAvoy gives roaring life to red-blooded holiday horror
Jude Law, Keira Knightley, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Anna Karenina (2012)
Remake of a Danish story of an unwary family who follow a charismatic couple on holiday has lost some of its nihilism but McAvoy packs real power

Tolstoy famously suggested in barnstorming infidelity classic Anna Karenina that all happy families are alike, while the unhappy ones are unhappy in their own way – but here comes Speak No Evil to test the theory. Scoot McNairy and Mackenzie Davis play the Daltons, Ben and Louise, an upmarket American couple living in London; they are holidaying in Italy with their sweet but highly strung daughter Agnes (Alix West Lefler) while trying to work out some common or garden relationship issues.

During their vacation, they are intrigued and charmed by Paddy (James McAvoy) and Ciara (Aisling Franciosi), a more carefree, devil-may-care pair, who seem enviably capable when it comes to the fine art of seizing the day and enjoying life’s lustier side. That...

Alicia Vikander to Receive Zurich Film Festival’s Golden Eye Award Before ‘The Assessment’ Screening
Image
The Zurich Film Festival will honor Swedish actor Alicia Vikander, who won an Oscar with “The Danish Girl,” during its 20th edition, which runs Oct. 3-13.

Vikander will accept the festival’s Golden Eye Award on Oct. 8 when she presents the Swiss premiere of her new film “The Assessment,” which is directed by Fleur Fortuné.

“The Assessment,” in which she stars opposite Elizabeth Olsen, tells the story of a society striving for perfection, living in a world devastated by climate change, trying to optimize life – including the assessment of parenthood. A couple is examined by an assessor for seven days to determine their suitability to have children.

The award recognizes her “outstanding acting performance and her consistently courageous and clever choice of roles,” as demonstrated in auteur films and blockbusters alike, including “Ex Machina,” “The Danish Girl,” “Anna Karenina,” “Jason Bourne,” “The Green Knight” and “Tomb Raider.”

In 2015, she was...

The Famous Fascist Who Started the Venice Film Festival
Image
The festival circuit is an important part of the film industry. After all, how would you know a movie has any artistic cred if it doesn’t have any little leaves on its poster? The oldest of the “Big Five” festivals, the Venice Film Festival, is nearly as old as Hollywood itself, founded in 1932. That’s all well and good until you consider what else was going on in Italy in 1932.

Yep, the Venice Film Festival was brought to you by Fascism.

Specifically, by Giuseppe Voldi, a lifelong bureaucrat who was Mussolini’s Minister of Finance from 1925 to 1928. By the ‘30s, he’d largely dedicated himself to artistic matters, most importantly the Venice Biennale, an annual international culture festival. In ‘32, recognizing the rising importance of movies to the Italian public, he added the film festival. Hey, even Fascists contain multitudes.

The Venice Film Festival was initially noncompetitive, but in 1934, organizers...

Joe Wright Says His Mussolini Italian TV Series ‘M. Son Of The Century’ Is “About How Dreadful Men Can Be” – Venice Q&a
Image
Filmmaker Joe Wright takes a 180 in the portrayal of World War II prime ministers, pivoting from the wise and measured Winston Churchill in 2017’s Darkest Hour (which delivered a Best Actor Oscar win to Gary Oldman) to the spontaneous, hot blooded and short-fused Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini in the Fremantle/Apartment/Sky/Pathe series M. Son of the Century, which made its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival today. While the Lido gets to see the series’ full eight hours that Wright directed and executive produced, TIFF will be treated to the first two episodes.

We spoke with Wright while he was editing the punk-rock stylized series. He originally shot M. from October 2022-April 2023; the show carrying all the filmmaker’s tonal sensibilities, i.e., deep amber colors, flickering shadows, fierce pacing which we’ve seen in his award-winning features Darkest Hour, Atonement, Anna Karenina and more.

2 Upcoming Aaron Taylor Johnson Movies Will Define The Next Decade Of His Career
Image
In the next year or two, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has two big upcoming movies that could make or break his acting career. Taylor-Johnson began acting in 2000, but didn't really break out until nine years later, when he starred in the raunchy superhero movie, Kick-Ass. From there, the actor raked in a number of exciting film projects, from Anna Karenina to Avengers: Age of Ultron. More recently, Taylor-Johnson's movies have taken on a darker, more action-packed ambiance, and it seems that this trend will only continue. As his movies become more notable, the more Taylor-Johnson has to gain - or lose.

At this point, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has two or three upcoming movies that are going to be pivotal for his career. The first is Kraven the Hunter. This Marvel superhero movie is set to be released on December 13, 2024, and Taylor-Johnson is starring as the eponymous Kraven. In terms of franchises, Taylor-Johnson's next...

Alex Garland in 28 Days Later (2002)
Ex Machina could have starred Jake Gyllenhaal
Alex Garland in 28 Days Later (2002)
Alex Garland’s 2014 sci-fi thriller Ex Machina could almost have starred Jake Gyllenhaal. “It was never gonna work,” its producer has said.

Terrifyingly almost a decade old, writer-director Alex Garland’s Ex Machina might have starred Jake Gyllenhaal – mostly so it could secure international funding. This tidbit of film history was revealed at a post-screening Q&a at the Edinburgh Film Festival on the 18th August, with Garland joined by producer Andrew Macdonald for the occasion.

“The sales companies wanted us to cast Jake Gyllenhaal because he was bankable and they could sell foreign territories,” Macdonald said, as reported by Deadline. “That would have changed the whole film.”

Unfortunately, Macdonald didn’t elaborate on who exactly Gyllenhaal would have played in Garland’s claustrophobic piece about a sentient android, its billionaire inventor and a young computer nerd who winds up falling in love with it. Our money’s on the billionaire,...

‘The Tourist’s’ Ólafur Darri, ‘See’s’ Hera Hilmar to Star in ‘Reykjavik Fusion,’ from Act 4, Wild Sheep Content, Arte (Exclusive)
Image
Internationally celebrated Icelandic actors Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and Hera Hilmar are set to star in “Reykjavik Fusion,” an Iceland-set crime thriller series that is rapidly racking up pre-sales in multiple territories.

The series’ deals underscore an increasingly attractive financing model, at least for selectively produced foreign-language shows, based on tying down partners and pre-sales among local broadcasters in Europe rather than waiting for a U.S. deal with a streamer for the U.S.

“It’s a dynamic ecosystem in Europe right now, full of potential partners,” said Erik Barmack, whose Wild Sheep Content co-produces and handles the international distribution of “Reykjavik Fusion.”

A familiar hirsute face and huge body for international audiences, Ólafur Darri is known for “The Tourist,” “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” and “True Detective.” He has also played the lead in Icelandic export hits “Trapped” and “The Minister.”

Hilmar starred in Peter Jackson’s “Mortal Engines...

‘All Happy Families’ Review: Not All Indie Family Dramedies Are Alike
Image
“All happy families are alike,” claims the immortal first sentence of Leo Tolstoy’s “Anna Karenina”; “each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.” And while jaded viewers may opine that all indie dramedies about dysfunctional families in the “Little Miss Sunshine” or “The Squid and the Whale” mold are alike, writer-director Haroula Rose’s “All Happy Families” suggests the genre has moved in a more grounded direction. Whether that’s ultimately a better direction remains to be seen.

The focal point of this particular family is Graham (Josh Radnor), an aspiring screenwriter/actor whose older brother Will (Rob Huebel) stars on a hugely popular (and seemingly terrible) TV series. As Will surprises Graham by flying from Los Angeles to Chicago for an unannounced visit to the childhood home they bought together, their mother Sue (Becky Ann Baker) is trying to figure out how to react to her former...

“This is what I love, Dad”: No Way Home Star Alfred Molina, in Tears, Reveals He Wished His Dad Lived a Little Longer So He Could Prove He’s Not a Disappointment
Image
Not every person lives boldly enough to achieve their dreams. Those who do, wish their dreams were powerful enough to move the world. Alfred Molina was gifted with both — the opportunity to not only pursue what he loved but also immortalize his work in cinematic history. Unfortunately, even for a celebrated icon of his caliber, Molina still missed out on the third and most tragic wish of all — the chance to make his parents proud.

The Spider-Man actor first gained notoriety for his work in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981. Later, he slowly climbed the Hollywood ladder with roles in the 1990s and 2000s — the most prominent among them being Sam Raimi’s superhero feature: Spider-Man 2 in 2004. But all of his Hollywood accomplishments fell short in the face of 1 factor.

“Forty-five minutes awaiting rescue”: Keira Knightley Experienced a Horrible Incident During Pirates of the Caribbean That Has Given Many Survivors Lifelong Nightmares
Image
After first being noticed and appreciated in Bend It Like Beckham, Keira Knightley has cemented her place as one of the most talented and desirable stars in Hollywood. While the British beauty has done a wide range of films from romantic dramas to period films, her marquee role in the action-adventure series Pirates of the Caribbean established her as a commercial star.

Being a pivotal part of a large-scale franchise, Knightley has had her share of memorable and harrowing experiences on set by the actor’s own admission. In the first film, the Atonement star got a bit too close to her character’s predicament in the film when she understood what it meant to be shipwrecked in reality.

Kinds Of Kindness Review: Not The Best Yorgos Lanthimos Movie, But The Most Yorgos Lanthimos Movie
Image
Director Yorgos Lanthimos is keenly interested in the systems that bind us. Most of his films are about how humans — we whimsical, self-serious egotists — require strictures and societal bindings to function, even if those bindings are absurd, harmful, or wholly invented by power-mad weirdos. The only thing that can free us from our self-imposed hairshirts, usually, is our sexual agency. That was certainly true of Lanthimos' 2023 Oscar darling "Poor Things," in which a woman with the brain of an infant grew into a self-actualized bisexual sex worker, once she was freed of the influence of boorish men who would seek to control her body.

Additionally, in the 2009 film "Dogtooth," Lanthimos told the story of three adult children being raised by a father who, for what can only be a sociological experiment, kept them imprisoned in their home, teaching them a surreal, alternate vocabulary. In "The Lobster," the rituals of love...

Alicia Vikander, Jude Law on How ‘Firebrand’ Works to “Steal Back the Narrative” From Henry VIII to Katherine Parr
Image
Alicia Vikander and Jude Law came out to Tribeca Festival on Tuesday night for the premiere of their upcoming film, Firebrand.

The new take on Henry VIII’s life and his six wives focuses on his final spouse, Katherine Parr, who is named regent while the king battles abroad. When he returns ill and paranoid, and his court works to turn him against Katherine, she finds herself fighting for her survival.

Law, who portrays the notorious king in Karim Aïnouz’s film, was particularly interested in looking at the “decaying, regretful disintegration of this once, once great man,” who went down a very dark path.

“Then also the very simple fact that [Aïnouz] shifted the focus onto Katherine,” the Oscar-nominated actor told The Hollywood Reporter. “So, Henry was a player in a story about a great woman. He’s dominated the narrative of these six women for 500 years, and it was...

“Women should have burned them”: Keira Knightley Would Rather Die Than Do One Thing Ever Again That She Was Forced to Do in Pirates of the Caribbean
Image
Keira Knightley was critical about wearing corsets for her role in Pirates of the Caribbean, despite admitting that it was an easy way to slip into the character of a royal woman. She believed that women should have burned these dresses centuries ago. While the actress’s view about the constricting garment remained the same even after all these years, she has come to accept the vitality of the costume for the character.

Pirates of the Caribbean actress Keira Knightley was vocal about her hate for corsets

Knightley was just 18 when she was cast in the role of Elizabeth Swann in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Apart from the challenging costumes, she also revealed that she was forced to do some stunts that she wasn’t trained for in the movie.

28 Years Later Will Star A Trio Of Unexpected (And Kind Of Amazing) Actors
Image
Danny Boyle's lo-fi 2002 zombie apocalypse film "28 Days Later" caused a stir in the horror community for its grainy digital photography (shot by Anthony Dod Mantle) and for its introduction of "fast zombies" into the pop vernacular. The zombies in "28 Days Later" were, unlike most movie zombies seen up to that point, fast-moving and vicious rather than mindless and shambling. It is credited for breathing new life into the zombie genre, followed as it was by other zombie hits like the "Dawn of the Dead" remake, George Romero's "Land of the Dead," and the hit 2010 series "The Walking Dead." "28 Days Later" also tapped into a lot of America's post-9/11 ennui, presenting hard-edged images of urban desolation. Everyone felt like the world had ended, and Boyle aesthetically agreed.

"28 Days Later," penned by "Civil War" director Alex Garland, was followed by a sequel in 2007 called "28 Weeks Later,...

The Only Major Actors Still Alive From The Rockford Files
Image
As far as investigators go, Jim Rockford (James Garner) is a bit of a departure from the mostly-polished (Columbo excepted) detectives of television's first decade. A slouchily dressed detective who lived in a trailer and served time in San Quentin, Rockford was cool — if not always collected. "The Rockford Files" ran for six seasons on NBC beginning in 1974 and was later resurrected for a series of '90s TV movies. In that time, audiences were introduced not only to Rockford, but to a cast of supporting characters including his truck driver dad Rocky (Noah Beery Jr.), LAPD pal Becker (Joe Santos), and the con artist Angel (Stuart Margolin).

Garner passed away in 2014, and only a few "Rockford Files" castmates are still with us today. Those who are still around include notable recurring guest stars like famously mustachioed "Blue Bloods" star Tom Selleck, Egot-winning multi-hyphenate Rita Moreno, and "Happy Gilmore" director...

Domhnall Gleeson and White Lotus’s Sabrina Impacciatore cast in Greg Daniels’s new comedy set in The Office universe
Image
Greg Daniels and Michael Koman could return to The Office universe, with Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus) as cast members of the proposed spinoff. Gleeson and Inpacciatore would be part of an ensemble for the project, which Deadline says is close to entering production. Plot details about The Office spinoff remain a mystery.

We know only a little about the project beyond its setting in The Office universe. Daniels wants fans to know it’s not a reboot, even though it takes place in the same arena as the Steve Carell-led mockumentary series focusing on the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company employees. Daniels says the new show could feature a camera crew doing a documentary about a subject outside the day-to-day lives of office workers surviving the daily grind and their toxic boss.

Domhnall Gleeson launched his acting career in 2001 as a character named Byrne in an episode of Rebel Heart.
