With its latest offering, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow takes the action behind the Iron Curtain as our rag-tag team wind up in 1986 and in the middle of Cold War tensions between the Us and the Ussr.
Again tracking Vandal Savage, the group have to deal with the familiar threat of Chronos whilst also trying to find Dr. Volstok, a woman who is working on something for Savage that could change the history of mankind.
Away from outside threats, tensions are also mounting within the group, with Martin Stein and Jax at each other’s throats, not to mention Kendra Saunders having seemingly lost the plot a little. Still, it’s a good thing that the always-stable Sara Lance is on hand to handle Kendra.
In another nice twist, White Knights manages to give us our first real look at a Time Master who isn’t Rip Hunter.

Ex On The Beach returned tonight - and thank goodness, because we badly needed a few lessons in dating. Pleasingly, the new cast continue the trend of being pretty much the worst teachers possible. Read on to find out what the eight 'sexy singles' taught us tonight...
1. The new Ex On The Beach cast started out strong.
Morgan's ideal woman has an hourglass figure, no body fat, a beautiful face and "knows how to use a knife and fork". Aim high, Morgan!
Melissa has been "completely unsatisfied" by men over the years, hates "bitchy" women ("I'll be a bigger bitch back") and kind of won us over by sneering at Morgan's eyebrows/accent/general being.
Connor says "naughty" a lot. Like, a lot. Like, stop saying "naughty". "I've banged probably about 26 birds at the moment. Not too bad, considering I'm only 18. When I'm 30, I want to have shagged at least 30 girls.

"Scandal" star Kerry Washington and Jimmy Fallon tried to trick each other in a fun game called "Box of Lies." Weirdly enough, the line "In my box ... is a pumpkin with spaghetti in it..." was actually true! Also, it turns out Kerry is a big "Game of Thrones" fan. She started watching because her parents like it. She was planning to just make fun of them, but now she's a true GoT fan, and she even cooked her mom a GoT-themed dinner. Then some guy in the audience booed Jimmy because he's not caught up on the show.

Named after the Greek word meaning “perfectly fitted,” the Artios Awards are celebrating 30 years of recognizing fitting achievements in theater, television, and film casting. The honors, given by the Casting Society of America (Csa), have provided the industry with a standard of professionalism since the first ceremony in 1985. Over 600 Csa members will vote on creativity, originality, and contribution of casting for the overall quality of dozens of projects. This year’s show will take place in both Hollywood’s Beverly Hilton Hotel and New York City’s 42West at the height of awards season on Jan. 22, 2015. In addition to the traditional categories, the Csa has expanded to include nominations for Web series, recognizing the rapid growth of new media. Those nominees—“Aim High,” “Backpackers,” “Chosen,” “Deadbeat,” and “Mortal Kombat: Legacy”—will stand among several high-profile projects, including TV shows such as “Orange Is the New Black” and “Breaking Bad,” and...

Csa announced Monday morning that the 30th Annual Artios Awards will honor Academy Award-nominated and Emmy Award-winning director Rob Marshall and Emmy Award-winning casting director Ellen Lewis for their individual work in the world of casting. The news arrives with nominations in categories of television, theater, new media and short film, and on the heels of the ceremony's move from November to Jan. 22, the thick of the awards season. Feature film nominations will be announced closer to the show date. Marshall, whose adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's "Into the Woods" bows Dec. 25, will receive the New York Apple Award, "recognizing individuals who have made special contributions to the New York entertainment...

The Warner Animation series of direct-to-disc features has apparently said farewell to the past as this week’s release of Justice League: War and May’s Son of Batman are both from the New 52 era. A pity given how many cool stories remain unadapted. Readers who picked up Justice League #1 in August 2011 were treated to a brand new take on the tried and true characters from DC Comics, but it was clearly early in their collective careers. It was the first time many were meeting one another and dealing with the threat of Darkseid from Apokolips.

We love The CW here at SciFi Mafia. Other than Syfy, Chiller, and Fear, who have a directed advantage, The CW shows far more of Our Kind of Shows than any other network. Currently on the roster they have Supernatural, Arrow, The Tomorrow People, Beauty and the Beast, and Nikita, which is sadly currently in its final, excellent, season.
Happily they’re replacing that with not one but two more of Our Kind of Shows – and with luck, Flash will also be on its way to us, though that wouldn’t be until fall. Today they’ve announced premiere dates for the two new shows, and a schedule shift for two current shows:

The CW is holding both "Star-Crossed" and "The 100" in reserve for mid-season duty, but during the recent TV Upfronts they released a few photos from each show's pilot, and we have a look at them all right here.
Both series have a sci-fi tinge, but "The 100" especially, with its post-apocalyptic setting and the presence of Henry Ian Cusick (“Lost,” “Scandal”), has our attention for sure. And while "Star-Crossed" definitely seems to appeal to the more romantic types among us, it has a lot of familiar faces and could be worth watching for one or two episodes at least.
So while you're here, check out the photos below (top row from "The 100" and bottom from "Star-Crossed"). For more info visit "The 100" and "Star-Crossed" on Cwtv.com, and follow "The 100" (@cwthe100) and "Star-Crossed" (@CWStarCrossed) on Twitter.

The CW has long been one of the best supporters of Our Kind of Shows, and at this year’s Upfronts they put even more money where our hearts are. Of the six new shows announced for the fall and winter schedule, four are for us: The Originals, The Tomorrow People, The 100, and Star-Crossed. Now of course more than one has that trademark The CW soap opera-ish spin on it, but hey, not Every show is for every one of us.
Here to assist in our prejudging are synopses for all, via Deadline, and maybe even better, clips and/or TV spots. There’s not really anything new for The Originals, but fans will want to see it all again anyway. The Tomorrow People features the wonderful Mark Pellegrino so it’s my favorite of the four.

Dolphin Digital Media was responsible for co-producing three of 2012's biggest web series hits: Cybergeddon, H+, and Aim High, all of which earned Streamy Award nominations (with only Aim High failing to win at least one). During Digital Content Newfronts, Dolphin announced its slate for 2013, which includes a lengthy soap opera called South Beach and a teenage musical titled In Bloom. Dolphin's previous releases all utilize big name talent, with directors Bryan Singer, Anthony Zuiker, and McG involved in H+, Cybergeddon, and Aim High, respectively. All three of those series were oriented towards men, but In Bloom, which is centered around a "high school girl discovering her voice," sets a different precedent. Its executive producer is former teen star Ashley Tisdale, and its director, Andy Tennant, made his name with female-oriented films such as Ever After and Sweet Home Alabama. Therefore, Dolphin is one of several production companies at Newfronts...

Hailee Steinfeld has already proven that she has true grit, now she’s going to prove that she has a little “Hanna” in her, too. Or at least, that’s the premise of her latest movie, “Barely Lethal”, which judging by the title, I think it’s probably safe to say that this won’t be a straight action movie, but more action-comedy with lots of teen angst thrown in. Steinfeld will star in the film for Rko and producer Brett Ratner, about “Megan, who is raised at a boarding school that trains children to be assassins. She has a quirky sense of humor but is clueless about normal life, so when she relocates to a small rural town she discovers dealing with high school is just as hard.” Sounds a bit like a recent web series called “Aim High” about a teenage Government assassin who also finds high school...

Whether Randy Rainbow is flirting on the phone with his new boyfriend Mel Gibson or taking advice from the uber-professional Dr. Laura Schlessinger, the New York-based YouTube star is routinely hilarious, cheeky, and provocative. On the heels of his newest clip, an instant classic about the idiocy of Chik-fil-a, we caught up with Mr. Rainbow (yep, that's his real name) to discuss what makes him laugh, where his ideas come from, and the Broadway obsession that fuels his web series "Chewing the Scenery."
