Henry left Boulogne in September 1544 following the successful siege. He left the Dukes of Norfolk and Suffolk in charge of the town. They decided to leave France after the King and left 4,000 troops to keep the town. The French laid siege to the town in October 1544. Though they did not take the town, the French did ultimately retake Boulogne in 1549. It was officially handed over in 1550.
