Will ‘It’s Always Sunny’ Get a 15th Season and Break a Record?
In 2019, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia aired its 14th season. With this season number, the irreverent FX comedy about a bunch of sociopathic bar owners (a compliment! I like the show!) tied with The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet for status as the longest-running live action comedy series. Will they beat the record and pull out a 15th season? Hell, a 16th? 20th?! Today, at the 2020 TCAs, FX revealed that they'd certainly like to see more sunshine in Philly. And they're in talks with the core creative team to do so. According to Deadline, …...

Billie Eilish
This is everything I wanted and more! On Thursday, Billie Eilish joined The Late Late Show Carpool Karaoke hall-of-fame—and it was filled with dance breaks, nostalgia and tons of surprises. Dressed in an oversized striped sweater and donning her edgy neon green-black hair, the 17-year-old sang along to her hit songs "bad guy," "all the good girls go to hell," "ocean eyes" and "when the party's over." After a high-energy performance of her Grammy-nominated song "bad guy," Billie, who is a longtime Belieber, recalled the moment she met Justin Bieber at the 2018 Coachella Festival. "All Coachella weekend, I was like, 'Don't surprise me with...

Tremors 7 Has Now Wrapped Filming
Remember yesterday when we said how much Kevin Bacon still wants to make his own Tremors reboot? And that the Tremors direct-to-video sequel series was still in production? Well, apropos of the latter point, there’s been a big update now.

Filming on the prospective seventh film in the franchise, Tremors: Island Fury (also known as Tremors 7), has wrapped, ahead of a mooted release date somewhere in 2020. Bet you’re quaking with excitement, as it’s going to rock your home cinema. You’ll be trembling at the thought of it. Ok, I’m out of puns. Turns out there are only so many shaky jokes you can make (and I used that one in the previous article. Bummer).

One of the project’s principal stars, Michael Gross, took to Facebook to announce the news today, saying:

“That’s a Wrap!!! Tremors 7 has completed filming in Thailand, and here are...

New Tremors 7 Set Photos Reveal First Look At 3 From Hell Star
It wasn’t that long ago that we spoke about how 3 From Hell star Richard Brake was the latest to board the cast of the upcoming Tremors 7 (titled Tremors: Island Fury). He’ll be appearing alongside veteran Tremors star Michael Gross (who’s played Burt Gummer since the original film), Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) and Jackie Cruz (Orange Is The New Black) for the next installment in the monster series.

Now, it seems we’re getting our first glimpse of Brake as Bill after the actor posted a number of images (seen below) of himself in character to his Instagram account. One of the photos shows him looking the part and ready to take on the film’s token Graboid creatures, accompanied by the caption: “This is what we think of them Graboids.”

According to the songstress the handbag, which is also a Valentino design, is custom and there are only three in the world. While on the red carpet, the 31-year-old star joked she had...

November 19th Blu-ray & DVD Releases Include Jawbreaker, Abbott & Costello: The Complete Universal Pictures Collection, The Fan (1981), Memory: The Origins Of Alien
November 19th is shaping up to be a somewhat quiet day for horror and sci-fi home media releases, but that doesn’t mean there still isn’t a lot to get excited about. Synapse Films is giving Dario Argento’s Suspiria the 4K treatment this Tuesday, and it looks to be a must-own release for any genre fan. Scream Factory is resurrecting The Fan (1981) on Blu, and for those of you who are into cautionary horror, you’ll definitely want to pick up Arrow Video’s release of Hitch Hike To Hell.

Other releases for November 19th include Abbott & Costello: The Complete Universal Pictures Collection (which includes their genre crossovers), Farscape: The Complete Series, Memory: The Origin of Alien (a documentary that is a must-see for anyone who enjoys Ridley Scott’s 1979 masterpiece), and a 20th anniversary Blu celebrating the criminally overlooked Jawbreaker.

Missy Elliott
Ciara to Host 2019 American Music Awards; Kesha Joins as Performer
Missy Elliott
Ciara has been named as host of the 2019 American Music Awards, returning to the show after appearing as a performer alongside Missy Elliott on last year’s telecast. The singer is not a newcomer to hosting duties, having previously presided over the Billboard Music Awards three years ago.

Prior to performing her single “Level Up” with Elliott at the 2018 AMAs, Ciara had not sung on the show since 2005, when she performed “Like You” with Bow Wow, although the “1, 2 Step” singer has presented at the award show three times in her 15-year career. Ciara’s AMAs nominations also span a number of years, as she was first nominated for favorite soul/R&b female artist in 2005 and again 13 years later.

Additionally, it was announced Thursday that Kesha has been added to the AMAs’ list of performers, singing on the show for the first time since 2013. Joined by New Orleans bounce icon Big Freedia,...

‘Dante’s Inferno’ Drama Series in Development at Freeform
Freeform is developing a “Dante’s Inferno” drama series, a reimagining of the 14th century epic poem set in present-day Los Angeles, a spokesperson for the network told TheWrap.

The series is described as following Grace Dante, “who thought her life sucked. Between parenting her drug addict mother and her troubled brother, our 20-something hero has had to give up all her dreams. Then one day everything changes and her dreams start magically coming true, school, career, love… but the godfather of all this good fortune is the Devil himself. And to outwit him, she’ll have to journey through Dante’s Inferno.”

Dante Alighieri’s narrative poem “The Divine Comedy,” widely considered one of the greatest works of Western literature, is told in three parts: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso, or Hell, Purgatory and Heaven. The poem tells the soul’s journey towards God in the afterlife, told from a medieval world view.

‘The Kill Team’ Review: Nat Wolff Leads a Harrowing Look at What it Means to Be ‘Army Strong’
In 2001, the United States began to wage the endless War in Afghanistan. In 2006, the U.S. Army retired the most enduring slogan it had ever used — “Be All that You Can Be” — and replaced it with “Army of One.” It didn’t take. So the marketing team went back to the drawing board and came back with a tagline so popular that it would be in active service for the next 12 years: “Army Strong.”

It was short, it was aspirational, and — unlike the two previous slogans — it shifted focus away from the soldier. “Army Strong” wasn’t about self-improvement or individual power, even if it subtly promised to confer those things on all who heeded the call. It was saying, in brute terms, that the Army is strength. That must have been a difficult message to internalize for the soldiers who were sent halfway across the world just to flex their country’s muscles.

The Queen of Spades
The Queen of Spades

Blu ray

Kino Lorber

1949/ 1.33:1 / 95 min.

Starring Anton Walbrook, Edith Evans

Directed by Throld Dickinson

One of the pleasures of discovering 1949’s The Queen of Spades is also discovering its director, Thorold Dickinson. Born and educated in Bristol, he abandoned Oxford for London to concentrate on the fine art of film editing and soon found himself behind the camera.

Dickinson made waves with 1940’s Gaslight but Queen was something of a critical flashpoint for the diligent director – called in as a last minute replacement, the project would cement his reputation as an artist whose portentous visual style said as much about his characters as any screenplay. Not coincidentally, those qualities were shared by the film’s associate producer, Jack Clayton.

Based on Alexander Pushkin’s 1834 short story, the film is set in a snowbound St. Petersburg enclave in 1803, a gothic inversion of one of Ernst Lubitsch‘s fairy tale villages.

Zombie Comedies Ranked
David Crow Oct 18, 2019

In honor of Zombieland: Double Tap, we rank all the movies that mixed yuks with human chunks in the zombie comedy subgenre.

For those old enough to remember a time before The Walking Dead premiered on AMC, it’s strange to admit we’ve reached a zombie saturation point. Believe it or not, there was a moment where you were not inundated with zombie movies, zombie TV shows, zombie video games, and zombie memes. Rather the undead were a cult novelty that allowed indie filmmakers to speak truth to power… via allegories involving lots of brain-munching and disembowelment. What could be better?

Now it’s hard to take a single step in the pop culture landscape without landing on a reanimated corpse with a belly full gray matter—not that this should be treated as the end of the world. Indeed, as you’ll see in many of the movies below,...

3 from Hell Walmart Blu-ray Gift Set Comes with Foxy's 'Disco Sucks' Shirt
The macabre horror flick 3 from Hell is now available on Blu-ray, and some Wal-Mart stores are carrying an exclusive "limited edition gift set" version of the movie. Just last month, the gritty sequel from director Rob Zombie premiered in theaters for a special three-day run courtesy of Fathom Events. One month later, the movie is now available on home video, and better yet, the special set from Wal-Mart includes the T-shirt worn in the Foxy character's mugshot photo. As a reminder, the shirt shown in 3 from Hell boasts the simple yet humorous phrase, "Disco Sucks."

3 from Hell stars Bill Moseley and Sheri Moon Zombie reprising their roles from previous Zombie movies as Otis Driftwood and Baby Firefly. The sequel also introduces Richard Brake as another member of the family, Winslow "Foxy" Coltrane. Zombie fans have certainly come to expect plenty of violence from the horror filmmaker, though 3 from Hell might...

Candy Corn red carpet premiere at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA
Candy Corn Review: A Fun Halloween Treat Filled with Horror Favorites
Candy Corn red carpet premiere at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA
From director and writer Josh Hasty, the new Fall season slasher flick Candy Corn makes for a fun Halloween treat. Set on the October holiday and featuring several familiar faces from popular slasher movies from the past, the movie is clearly a love letter to some of our favorites from the genre dating back to the '70s and '80s. At a time when the horror genre is filled with nonstop reboots, prequels, sequels, and re-imaginings, it's always great when an entertaining original movie enters the scene, and that certainly applies to the fun popcorn flick that is Candy Corn.

Like every truly great slasher movie, the plot for Candy Corn is fairly simplistic, focusing on a paranormal murderer seeking vengeance on a small town on Halloween night. It follows social outcast Jacob Adkins, who has been made the target of a group of bullies for some good old-fashioned hazing.

Haunt Interview: Bryan Woods And Scott Beck On Their Haunted Attraction Horror Effort
Haunted attractions have been a quintessential location for horror films. Just in 2019, It Chapter Two has a major scene involving James McAvoy’s Bill trying to save, at a funhouse, an innocent kid from Pennywise (Bill Skarsgård); and prior to their final encounter with the evil entity, the protagonists see themselves facing some classic haunted house scenarios. Also, the new entry in Rob Zombie’s series about the murderous Firefly Family, 3 from Hell, is a reminder that this journey began when Zombie designed a haunted attraction for the Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights back in 1999. Another brand-new addition to these haunted...

3 From Hell Interview: Rob Zombie On The Manson Family, Spaghetti Westerns, Lucha Libre Masks And More
It’s been 14 years since we last saw musician and filmmaker Rob Zombie’s most iconic movie characters. At the end of arguably Zombie’s finest film The Devil’s Rejects, the notorious killers Baby (Sheri Moon Zombie), Otis (Bill Moseley) and Captain Spaulding (Sid Haig) faced what we thought was a fatal encounter with police bullets. Accompanied by Lynyrd Skynyrd’s masterpiece “Free Bird”, this was a very memorable finale. The run of The Firefly Family was pretty much over but now Zombie is back with 3 from Hell, the third installment of the series that began with the release of House of 1000 Corpses in 2003. In 3 from Hell we quickly learn that all three members of The Firefly Family miraculously survived the police’s brutal attack;...

First 3 from Hell Clip Has Captain Spaulding on Death Row
Sid Haig
Ahead of next week's three-day 3 from Hell theatrical event, a new sneak peek of the movie has been released with Sid Haig front and center. As Captain Spaulding, Haig reprises the role he's previously portrayed in director Rob Zombie's previous movies House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. Because of his many murders committed along with his sadistic family members, Spaulding is revealed to now be sitting on death row, scheduled to be executed by the state. The Captain is more vulnerable than ever before as he sits shackled in chains, and yet, Spaulding is still just as creepy as he's always been.

In the clip, a journalist sits with Captain Spaulding in an attempt to dive into the mind of the psychopathic killer. "You dressed as a clown, but behind that colorful facade of joy lurks something much darker," the man tells Spaulding. "Who is the real Captain Spaulding?...

Watch: Baby Shows Off Her Skills In First 3 From Hell Clip
That’s going to leave a mark!

A new clip from Rob Zombie’s upcoming horror flick 3 From Hell has landed online today and features Vera-Ellen Firefly, also known as “Baby,” hunting a hulking gunman with a bow and arrow. The heart-pounding forty-five second scene culminates in Sheri Moon Zombie’s character taking out the man in the luchador mask with a perfect shot to the neck.

If fans needed any more of a clue that the film is going to be a bloody, chaotic adventure for all involved, look no further than this clip. The sequence also raises its fair share of questions, though. After all, it’s currently unknown who this foe is that Baby just sniped, as well as why she’s wearing a Native American outfit. All of these questions and more though will surely be answered when the movie skulks into theaters.

Class of 1989: Jason Voorhees Brings Crystal Lake Kills to The Big Apple in Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
[We're celebrating some of the most memorable horror and sci-fi movies of 1989 this month in Daily Dead's Class of 89 retrospective series! Check back on Daily Dead throughout the rest of August for more special features celebrating the 30th anniversaries of a wide range of horror and sci-fi films!]

Whew! Now, that is a long movie title! We can't close out the 1980s without discussing Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. Coincidentally, Part VIII would be the last movie released in Paramount’s original Friday the 13th timeline, and it was released in 1989, the last year of the decade. But, let's not talk so much about the end and focus instead on celebrating what I believe to be one of the most Gif-able slasher movies ever.

Rob Hedden's Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan follows the senior class of Lakeview High School as they set sail towards the bright lights of New York City. It's not long after the Lazarus takes off that good ol' Jason boards the ship to do what he does best: terrorize and kill the unsuspecting passengers on board. Side note: I can't help but notice that the ship's name...

Rob Zombie Has Officially Been Immortalized as a Funko Pop! Figure
Rob Zombie
Rob Zombie is the latest icon to get the Funko Pop! treatment. The prolific musician and director has been prominent in the pop culture landscape for the better part of three decades and has produced art that truly resonates with massive swaths of people all over the planet, be it through White Zombie, his solo music career, or his movies like House of 1000 Corpses. That being the case, Zombie seems more than deserving of the distinct honor of being immortalized as part of the popular toy line.

The reveal was made by Rob Zombie personally. The metalhead turned filmmaker, whose latest 3 from Hell is set to arrive in theaters this fall, took to Instagram to reveal his Pop! figure. Perhaps as much as anyone has ever looked like themselves in Pop! form, Funko truly nailed the look here. Zombie had this to say in the caption he provided with the photo.

5 Disney Villains That Are Better Live-Action (& 5 That Work Better As Cartoons)
Love them, hate them, or just tolerate them for an hour or two, Disney's live-action remakes are a prominent feature in today's media. Though it's hard to say all of them are outright bad, not all of them are created equal.

The same can be said for the newer version of the classic Disney villains. Some do really well, but others need to stay in the sketchbook. So we're asking which famous Disney villains work well in live-action and which ones work better in the realms of animation.

Angelina Jolie's performance of Disney's Mistress of All Evil was positively spellbinding, brilliant casting choice on Disney's part. But we can't help but notice one big misstep in her interpretation of the character.

Rob Zombie Reveals 3 from Hell Limited Edition Poster That's to Kill For
Rob Zombie
Rob Zombie's 3 from Hell is heading to theaters for a special three-day event this fall, and the first 50 attendees at each theater will be given an exclusive poster. The posters will only be available while supplies last, so even for those fortunate enough to purchase tickets to the first day's screenings, only a select amount will be able to leave the theater with a poster in hand. In other words, plan on arriving early if you want one for yourself.

On the exclusive poster, silhouettes of Baby, Otis, and Captain Spauldin can be seen in two handguns and a knife. All three will undoubtedly serve as instruments of murder for the treacherous trio during their next killing spree. A new tagline for 3 from Hell is also featured on the poster,...

Hellrasier is Going to Be Developed as a TV Series
With more and more film franchises being reimagined as TV series, it’s not surprising to learn that the classic horror franchise Hellraiser is going to also be developed as a series.

It producer Roy Lee and Ready Player One producer Dan Farah are teaming up to develop the series which centers around an evil hellish villain name Pinhead. They have teamed up with the rights holders of the property, Lawrence Kuppin, David Salzman and Eric Gardner, to make this happen.

According to Deadline, the intention is to “use the mythology established in the movie franchise and the Clive Barker novella The Hellbound Heart as a launch pad for a new series that could be anthology, or a more traditional narrative.”

The first movie told the story of a man “who inadvertently opens a portal to hell when he tinkers with a strange puzzle box he bought during a trip abroad.

Marvel Gives Fat Thor an Official Name on the Eve of Endgame Rerelease
Joe Russo
Well, it was only a matter of time, but today it looks like the powers that be behind the scenes of Anthony and Joe Russo's mega-blockbuster Avengers: Endgame have finally given "Fat Thor" an official name. Dubbed "Bro Thor" by the special features for Endgame's much-anticipated upcoming release on Blu-ray, the featurette goes by the "Bro Thor" name, and the clip is described as follows:

"His appearance has changed but his heroism remains! Go behind the scenes to see how Bro Thor was created."

And I guess this "Bro Thor" title is as good as any for overweight Bad Times at the El Royale and The Cabin in the Woods hunk Chris Hemsworth. Although personally, I don't see what was so wrong with all of us just calling him Fat Thor. That nickname seemed to do the trick.

For the one soul out there that hasn't seen Avengers: Endgame...
