The summer of 2002 kicked off a whole new era in spy movies, but not in the way Hollywood expected. You see, three spy movies were coming out that year, and only one of them was predicted to be a hit. They were the Ben Affleck Jack Ryan flick, The Sum of All Fears, his pal Matt Damon’s The Bourne Identity, and Vin Diesel’s XXX. In fact, all three of them made money, but The Bourne Identity, a notoriously delayed and troubled production at the time, became a classic. The movie everyone expected to be a hit, XXX, did fine, making $142 million, which was a tidy sum. Still, given that it was expected to be the biggest hit of the summer, Hollywood insiders considered the film a disappointment. The end of the film promised that Xander Cage would return, but the time XXX: State of the Union hit theaters three years later,...

Grief-stricken but so lovely, “After Yang” is Kogonada’s second feature after his much-celebrated debut “Columbus.” Ambitious but understated, “After Yang” is a low-flourish sci-fi that side-steps spectacle and uses the constructs of the genre to dig deeper into questions about life and nature. Movies are a one-and-done kind of deal. To be fair, they used to be like that. You watch, you enjoy, you absorb, and you move on, or so we thought. Somewhere down the line, however, we decided to go big on franchises, really big. In better days, this newfound freedom allowed for a larger canvas – an expanded universe – and a fresh take on how one could tell and structure stories.
Quite some time, and then some, has already been spent trying to crack a formula that keeps pulling audiences back, irrespective of how many sequels, spinoffs, and reboots are produced. While the casuals have long languished, others are just terribly fatigued, but fans of certain franchises remain as devoted as ever.
We’re ranking ten franchises with the most loyal fan bases, not just based on box office numbers but also their cultural footprint. No trilogies or Blue Blanc Rogue-type cinema is allowed.

Sunday Am Update: Mostly everything is up Sunday morning with the overall marketplace now coming in at around $146 million. Not only is that the best result for the final weekend of April since the end of Covid, but it’s also the fourth best overall after Avengers weekends 2019 ($402M) and 2018 ($313.9M) and 2011, when Universal’s Fast Five drove the Friday-Sunday period to $158M.
The industry is jumping up and down. We caught up with AMC CEO Adam Aron last night at the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award for Francis Ford Coppola and he’s over the moon about how turnstiles are clicking, seeing April upticks in overall revenues and concessions. There’s a sense out there that the box office is finally on a roll.
The trick is, major studios, not having us lapse back into famine. When Marvel Studios/Disney’s Thunderbolts* hit Nrg tracking three weeks ago, it was forecasted at $70M.

Two years before Al Gore’s Oscar-winning An Inconvenient Truth elevated the conversation around global warming, Roland Emmerich unleashed The Day After Tomorrow, the 2004 blockbuster that brought the dangers of climate change to the popcorn crowd.
Emmerich was already known as the master of disaster, blowing up the White House in Independence Day (1996) and leveling part of New York in Godzilla (1998). While directing 2000’s The Patriot in hurricane-stricken North Carolina, the German filmmaker became intrigued with extreme weather. At his hotel’s bookstore, he stumbled upon the 1999 novel The Coming of the Global Superstorm, co-written by the conspiracy-enthused radio icon Art Bell and author Whitley Strieber.
The novel inspired Emmerich to dig into the idea that climate change could spark a new ice age over a period of days — not years or centuries. He enlisted Patriot producer Mark Gordon, who paired him with screenwriter Jeffrey Nachmanoff for a package that...

If there’s one thing the Fast and Furious franchise has mastered, it’s reinvention. What started in 2001 as a movie about street racing and DVD player heists somehow morphed into a billion-dollar saga where cars fly, submarines chase Lamborghinis, and Vin Diesel defeats helicopters with a pair of Dodge Chargers. Over 10 movies (and counting), we’ve seen everything from rooftop chases in Rio to family barbecues that feel just as intense as the action scenes.
And through it all, Dom Toretto has reminded us, repeatedly, in case we forgot, that nothing is more important than family.
Of course, not every Fast & Furious movie is a nitrous-fueled masterpiece. Some entries turned the franchise into cinematic gold, while others, well, let’s just say they were running on fumes. The early movies were all about the underground racing scene, but as the franchise grew, so did its ambitions. By Fast Five,...

Rivalry in Hollywood is quite common. Stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone were at it for decades. Even Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel’s infamous feud also saw a lot of eyes getting invested.
However, rivalry in Hollywood and in business is quite rare. Well, that’s the case with Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg and their own set of tequila brands.

In the early 1990s, filmmaker Sydney Lumet put an idea in stuntman Jack Gill’s head: stunt people ought to have an Oscars category.
Gill met with the then-Academy leadership as the opening salvo in what would become a decades long odyssey. “They said, ‘Ok great. It will probably take three to five years. Are you ready to put that much effort into it?’” recalls Gill. Heck, yeah, he was. “Now here we are, 34 years later.”
Today, Gill and the stunt community are celebrating Thursday’s news that, finally, stunts will be recognized in 2028 with a stunt design Oscar.
Gill, as well as countless others, pushed the boulder up the hill, but the effort was supercharged in recent years thanks to stuntpeople such as The Fall Guy filmmaker David Leitch gaining more clout in Hollywood as he became an A-list director. Leitch and his Fall Guy stunt designer Chris O’Hara...

Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw has become an integral member of the "Fast & Furious" family. He's even received his own spinoff adventure at this point, having starred in 2019's "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw." It used to be a point of contention that the villainous mercenary turned Toretto family ally was forgiven so easily after being responsible for the death of fan-favorite Han (Sung Kang). "F9," however, somewhat cleared him of that charge real quick. Now, Deckard is just another member of the team, so much so it's easy to forget how explosive his first appearance was.
"Fast & Furious 6" was originally meant to serve as Han's final journey before the events of "The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift," where he initially met his end. So, when the mid-credits scene started replaying Han's deadly crash, it meant that something else was right around the corner. The electricity in...

Commitment is Vin Diesel’s middle name, given how he has dedicated himself to the Fast & Furious franchise for around two decades. From street racing to heists, and even launching a car into space, he has steered Dom Toretto’s journey like a true family man. Therefore, when it came to casting someone to play his brother in F9: The Fast Saga, it became an anxious task for the star.

Meghan Markle has been the talk of the town lately.
The Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, recently dropped, and curious viewers have been tuning in.
During Episode 2, Welcome to the Party, The Office alum Mindy Kaling visited Meghan while she prepared for a children’s party.
At one point, the ladies began chatting about their childhoods.
That’s when Meghan shared that she often ate fast food and TV dinners as a kid.
“People wouldn’t believe Meghan Markle ate at Jack in the Box,” Mindy teased.
Meghan quickly corrected Mindy; “It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know, I’m Sussex now.”
Ever since Meghan set Mindy straight on With Love, Meghan, the public has been wondering if they’ve been referring to her by the wrong name all along.
That wasn’t the case during The Drew Barrymore Show.

Despite being one of the most profitable franchises in Hollywood, Fast & Furious continues to be a regular subject of tabloid headlines for its ridiculous scandals and controversies. One of the biggest headline-grabbers has been the feud between co-stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, which muddied the waters and made for an entertaining public spectacle until the latter’s return in 2023.

Fans have been waiting two years for the cliffhanger ending of Fast X to be resolved in Fast & Furious 11. Unfortunately, they could be waiting another two years, as franchise star Alan Ritchson recently explained what is holding up filming from beginning on the sequel.
Speaking with Screen Rant to promote Reacher Season 3, which premiered on Prime Video on Feb. 20, Ritchson explained that scheduling complications are largely to blame for Fast & Furious 11's filming delay. "That is one of the biggest challenges that franchise faces is that you've got a lot of guys like Dwayne [Johnson] and Vin [Diesel] and [Jason] Momoa and myself and everybody's super busy. So trying to get the stars to align so we can make that happen is a feat of nature," he said. "So we'll see how it goes, but this is a passion project for Universal and it's one that I had a blast doing, so I'd love to get in there,...

Martin Scorsese has finally found his new movie, and he has assembled an eclectic cast that includes long-time collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio, 2024 Academy Award nominee Emily Blunt, and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Scorsese is one of the most acclaimed filmmakers ever to live, and since the release of Killers of the Flower Moon, he has been circling many projects. Fans wondered if the Sinatra biopic, a film centered on Jesus Christ, or the recently announced The Devil in the White City would be his next film. It turns out none of those projects are up next for Scorsese.
Deadline confirmed that Martin Scorsese will direct an untitled crime drama that follows a ruthless Hawaiian crime boss in the 1960s and '70s based on a real-life person who battled encroaching rivals in Hawaii for control of organized crime on the island. The film is being written by Nick Bilton, a journalist...

Alan Ritchson has found a home on Prime Video as Jack Reacher, but in 2023, he was lured away into the world of the Fast & Furious. Making his debut in Fast X, grabbing attention as Aimes, a formidable Agency player with shifting allegiances, fans quickly latched onto the idea that Ritchson might be back for the (possibly) final chapter of the Dom Toretto saga. It seems that Ritchson is keen for that to happen too with a return in Fast & Furious 11 – or Fast 11, F&F11, Fast XI or whatever else they choose to call it.
While Ritchson’s appearance in Fast X certainly makes it likely that he will be back again in the sequel, the actor recently pointed out in an interview with ScreenRant, that there is a big problem facing the production – namely its big-name cast. He said:

Fast and Furious and Riddick star Vin Diesel has his sights set on another heavy-hitting action franchise, with the actor taking to social media to tease his role in the upcoming adaptation of the classic toy game Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. First announced back in 2021, the Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots movie will see Mattel Films team up with Universal Pictures and Vin Diesel's One Race Films for this live-action adaptation of the beloved toy, which finds players taking control of two dueling robot boxers and smashing buttons until one of their heads comes off.
While it doesn’t initially seem like Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots has the depth needed for a movie, it’s likely that the adaptation will be akin to something like the 2011 sci-fi action outing, Real Steel. It is not yet known whether Vin Diesel will play a human or a robot in the movie,...

The Fast and Furious franchise has seen the most bizarre inclusions in its ensemble cast. What began as an illegal street racing-based action flick has blown up into an international spy adventure that has even gone to space, and those are still not its most bizarre parts. Stars like Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, and Kurt Russell have regular roles in the films.

However, with the final installment in the works, the franchise is due for a new villain and the stars of the films already seem to have a pick. Michelle Rodriguez, who played Letty in the franchise, picked Matt Damon to play the big bad in the finale. When asked about the reason, she referred to his role in The Talented Mr. Ripley.

It is always hard to say goodbye. Of course, to be honest, once a movie or series leaves Netflix unless it is a Netflix original, then the film or show is probably going to end up on some other streamer. Still, you don't want to have to subscribe to yet another service just to see a handful of shows. Netflix has almost all of what you need.
But if you need the movies or programs below, you will only have a short bit of time to catch them. They will leave Netflix this week, only to be replaced by other great stuff. But one of the below might be your favorite ever. Let's hope they return soon to your favorite streaming service.

Fast & Furious fans who stream their favorite action-packed films on Netflix will be disappointed this month. On February 12, 2025, the streaming service will remove five movies from the franchise, making it harder to watch the full series in one place. The titles leaving Netflix include:
‘The Fast and the Furious’ (2001) ‘2 Fast 2 Furious’ (2003) ‘The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift’ (2006) ‘Fast Five’ (2011) ‘Fast & Furious 6’ (2013)
While some of these movies will soon be available on another streaming platform, the franchise will be spread across multiple services, making it more difficult for fans to binge-watch the entire series.
Just a few days after they leave Netflix, NBCUniversal’s streaming service, Peacock, will add four ‘Fast & Furious’ films on February 15, 2025. Two of these movies (‘Fast Five’ and ‘Fast & Furious 6’) are part of the batch leaving Netflix, while the other two titles are:

The future of the Fast and Furious franchise has been doing more U-turns than the speeding vehicles featured in the high-octane movie saga. From talk of a two-part finale becoming three movies, more spinoffs heading into development, and Vin Diesel’s disgruntled wish for everyone to stop demanding so much and just let him get on and make a simple film about street racing, it is hard to know exactly when and where the Fast Saga will reach its conclusion. Now star Ludacris has murkied the waters a little more with new comments about what comes next.
Speaking to US Weekly, the rapper-turned-actor discussed his new Häagen-Dazs’ Super Bowl ad, which features his Fast costars Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, and explained how being “family” is something that doesn’t just end with the movies. He said:

A lot of fans might recognize actor Jay Jackson as the iconic and hilarious newscaster Perd Hapley on the hit comedy series Parks & Recreation. His first appearance actually came later in the series in season two, episode four, "Practice Date." He doesn't play a significant role in the episode from a story standpoint, but fans quickly became more and more enamored by the newscaster as he got more and more story. Perd Hapley would appear as his goofy, rich-voiced self in 31 episodes throughout the rest of the show's run. Jackson would become mostly known for the character. After watching the show, many fans were happy to know that Jackson has appeared in plenty of other shows and movies as well, but interestingly enough, a majority of those roles have been as a newscaster.
Being typecast in Hollywood is rarely a good thing, as it can unintentionally define an actor for their entire career.

Justin Lin is best known as the filmmaker behind the revitalization of the Fast & Furious franchise, starting with Tokyo Drift and including the fan-favorite Fast Five. However, after departing the franchise, he decided to return to his independent roots with Last Days, a film based on a powerful story. Unfortunately for Lin, this is not a particularly auspicious return to less spectacle-driven fare.
Last Days Review
Last Days is a dramatization of the final days in the life of John Allen Chau, a 26-year-old Christian mercenary who traveled to North Sentinel Island in the hopes of reaching the North Sentinelese — one of the most isolated native tribes in the world. It’s a fascinating story that has tons of articles and books about it, but Last Days seeks to give Chau’s tale the big-screen treatment.

The Fast & Furious franchise scored another hit in 2023 with Fast X, and even though critics tried to slam the brakes on the (reportedly) penultimate movie in the franchise, audiences were mostly happy with the increasingly elaborate high-octane action movie. However, Vin Diesel has previously suggested that he really wants to bring the franchise back down to the ground with the same kind of gritty street racing that made the original movies a success. Now another star of the franchise has echoed the sentiment, which is also something that many fans would like to see as the saga comes to a close.
Original Fast star Jordana Brewster recently shared her thoughts on how she would like to see the franchise go “back to the roots” of the saga. In an interview with Collider to promote her new movie Heart Eyes with Final Destination star Devon Sawa, Brewster said:
“Yeah, big time.

Jason Statham fans, and particularly those of his appearances in the Fast & Furious franchise will have something to celebrate this February as several of his Fast movies will arrive on Peacock on February 15. Along with the Statham-less Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6 – which features the first brief appearance of Deckard Shaw in the saga – Furious 7, and Fast & Furious Presents Hobbs & Shaw, the spinoff that brought together Statham with Dwayne Johnson in their own story.
Fast & Furious 6 sees Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto and Paul Walker’s Brian O’Conner and their crew being given the chance to have their crimes wiped from the record by Johnson’s Luke Hobbs, if they help bring down an organized mercenary group led by Owen Shaw. It’s not lost on people how sentimental a person Vin Diesel can be. His character, Dominic Toretto of the Fast & Furious franchise, has become a meme when talking about “family.” A lot of that seems to be influenced by Diesel himself as he does not pass up a chance to show respect to his friends and fans in his career. It’s also what made his long-time rivalry with Dwayne Johnson jarring and the “family” aspect has be used as somewhat of a punchline. However, Diesel and Johnson have seemingly patched things up and the Fast star has teased the filming of the upcoming Fast X Part 2.
Diesel would recently post a photo about the arrival of “the first Fast car.” Now, the muscular star of the muscle car action series has made a new post on his Instagram that showcased an embrace between him and his co-star Jordana Brewster,...

Whatever one may think about his movies or his style of acting, Dwayne Johnson — better known as "The Rock" — is an action star. Thanks to his movies and especially his legendary run as The People's Champion in professional wrestling, audiences have a built-in set of expectations for the actor's performances. Regardless of the movie's story and tone, Johnson is always expected to be a lovable giant or a cool anti-hero who makes quips. He's also expected to channel The Rock's charisma on occasion.
This is what makes his 2010 movie Faster so unique and special. At first glance, Johnson's character in the movie, Driver, is no different from his other roles. Additionally, the movie itself doesn't really stand out from Johnson's other works, especially if one were to just look at its poster and marketing. However, Faster doesn't just hide one of Johnson's best performances, but it's also one of the actor's most underrated movies.

A Dwayne Johnsonaction movie that grossed $428 million is getting a new streaming home. Decades after making his WWE debut, Johnson is now one of the most recognizable movie stars on the planet. Following his jump to acting, Johnson appeared in a number of action movies, like The Rundown (2003), Faster (2010), Fast Five (2011), Snitch (2013), and Pain & Gain (2013). More recently, Johnson has embraced more family-friendly fare, but that doesn't mean he's left his action roots behind.
The mid and late 2010s saw the release of a handful of classic Johnson action movies, but the budgets got larger and they became action blockbusters instead of genre movies in the mid-budget space, reflecting the actor's growing star power. In addition to several Fast & Furious movies, Johnson starred in San Andreas in 2015 before going on to have a big year in 2018, starring in two buzzy titles. Fast & Furious 11 could be the final installment in the long-running franchise, with a bold Dominic Toretto theory potentially explaining why. The next entry into the series has been expected ever since Fast X's cliffhanger ending, but whether it will be the final movie has been a point of contention. The creators of the franchise, including Dom Toretto actor Vin Diesel, seem to think that the Fast and Furious timeline will reach its finale with the 11th installment, but another financial success could see Universal Pictures opt for a continuation beyond that.
Where audiences are concerned, Fast 11 seems like a logical endpoint for the series. Fast X was a middling installment where Fast and Furious rankings are concerned, and the series seems to be running out of gas. With Fast X and Fast 11 tying to some of the more beloved entries and proving to be a two-part story, it would make sense as a conclusion.

The 2017 Baywatch cast features a mix of world-famous movie stars and promising newcomers at the time, and they've all followed up with some huge projects. Baywatch marked a major cinematic reboot of the classic television series that dominated screens in the 1990s. The film infused the original's campy charm with a modern twist. It not only aimed to capture the essence of the beloved series but also sought to broaden its appeal to a new generation. With its mix of action, comedy, and a hint of nostalgia, Baywatch offered a fresh take on the iconic show.

If there is one thing more ridiculous than the over-the-top action of the Fast and Furious franchise, it's the beef between Vin Diesel and one of his co-stars. The actor, who is best known for playing Dominic Toretto in the Fast and Furious films, has also been known to be incredibly vocal with random and sometimes cryptic posts on social media. Now, the actor's recent Instagram post seems to indicate that the long-standing unspoken feud between him and his co-star Dwayne Johnson has come to an end. For real, this time.
After an awkward acknowledgment of Johnson at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, some were uncertain whether the disagreements between the two actors had really been settled. Now, a new Instagram post from Diesel, which is a photo of him and Johnson smiling together, with the caption “All love…always” has helped to quell any suggestions that the two actors have any problems with one another.

The flop of one of the earlier movies in the Fast & Furious franchise led to the series completely changing course, and eventually turning into an action series. 2001's The Fast and the Furious was the first film in the long-running franchise, and was a grounded story about an undercover police officer who joined a group of street racers. At its core, the Fast & Furious franchise has always been about street racing, and the first few films in the series showcased this. However, it didn't take long for the Fast & Furious movies to become increasingly more action-packed.
2 Fast 2 Furious showed hints of the over-the-top action the franchise was capable of, but it was 2009's Fast & Furious, the fourth film in the series, that truly transformed the franchise from a series about street racing to pure action movies. Any lingering tension between Fast & Furious stars Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson seems to be a thing of the past for the former despite their undeniably awkward exchange at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards. Diesel's first social media message since their viral encounter at the ceremony insists there's nothing but "love" between them.

Vin Diesel shares a new post on social media, seemingly addressing his encounter with Dwayne Johnson at the 2025 Golden Globes. Diesel is best known to audiences for playing Dominic Toretto in the Fast & Furious franchise, which Johnson joined in 2011 as Luke Hobbs. The reported feud between the two actors dates back to 2016, but the pair seemingly buried the hatchet in 2023 with the release of Fast X. Diesel saying "Hey, Dwayne" followed by an uncomfortable beat while presenting at the Golden Globes on January 5, however, led to more speculation about the pair's dynamic.
Now, after his moment with Johnson went viral on social media, Diesel takes to Instagram to assure fans that there's no bad blood between them. The actor shares an image from the Fast Five premiere 14 years ago of him and Johnson posing together but doesn't directly address the Golden Globes moment in his caption. Instead, Diesel writes "All love.

The Fast and Furious franchise has a series of big names attached to it, but no one is more dedicated to his "family" than Vin Diesel. His commitment and control of the franchise reportedly made him clash with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson when the latter joined the franchise in 2011's Fast Five.
The two just came face to face at the 82nd Golden Globes on Jan. 5, and it resulted in a very awkward moment. Vin Diesel was one of the many presenters of the night, and he was there to offer the prize for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement for the musical Wicked. However, he couldn't help sharing a moment with Johnson, as shared on X by Variety.

The Fast & Furious franchise will almost certainly be ending with Fast 11, and the film will likely be a huge celebration of all the sequels that came before it. Once it has resolved the major cliffhanger ending of Fast X, the upcoming sequel will follow Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his friends as they're hunted down by Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa), the son of Fast Five's villain Hernan Reyes. This blood feud is easily the most interesting part of Fast X, and it's the perfect subplot for the Fast & Furious series to use as its grand finale.
Fast & Furious has been through many phases throughout the turbulent franchise, starting out with grounded thrillers and ultimately becoming a much bolder, brasher, and more expensive series of huge stunts and melodramatic characters. But throughout it all, the characters have always been the focus of this story. The Fast & Furious...
