The vital flow of Hollywood productions has returned at full strength to Rome’s Cinecittà soundstages, which has been undergoing a radical overhaul that is transforming the iconic facilities into state-of-the-art studios for the digital age.

Shooting recently wrapped on the U.S. sci-fi thriller “White Mars,” toplining Luke Newton (“Bridgerton”) and Lucy Hale (“Pretty Little Liars”) and co-financed by XYZ Films and Singularity Ent. The pic was filmed entirely at Cinecittà’s Theater 18, which houses one of the world’s largest LED stages and has become a fundamental asset. And pre-production is underway on Mel Gibson’s “The Resurrection of the Christ,” which will use Cinecittà’s sprawling new Studio 22 facility as its main hub this summer. Gibson had been scouting other European facilities for the sequel to his blockbuster “The Passion of the Christ,” which shot at Cinecittà more than 20 years ago. The director and his Icon Prods.

Emily Alyn Lind plays the lead, Cadence Sinclair, in Prime Video’s new series, We Were Liars. The series is based on E. Lockhart’s 2014 novel of the same name, which received critical acclaim. The teaser trailer of the show just dropped, and from the way it is presented, fans couldn’t help but immediately think of Freeform’s thriller series Pretty Little Liars.

At the beginning, it appears that we are in for a summer vacation show until the mood quickly changes into something much darker. Julie Plec of The Vampire Diaries fame and Carina Adly MacKenzie of The Originals fame serve as the co-showrunners of the show.

Emily Alyn Lind’s narration begins the official teaser of We Were Liars in a pretty soothing way.

Officers Traci Harmon and Alex Diaz will no longer be policing the streets of Long Beach, Calif., now that Prime Video has cancelled Dick Wolf’s On Call, according to our sister site Deadline.

The cancellation comes four months after the release of Season 1, which consisted of eight episodes and dropped on Jan. 9.

The director of the 1999 teen comedy 10 Things I Hate About Youis developing a sequel trilogy, more than a quarter of a century after the film starring the late Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles premiered. Per People, Gil Junger, who directed the original film, is working on a follow-up titled 10 Things I Hate About Dating, along with the original movie’s producer, Andrew Lazar.

It doesn’t end there, as Junger is proposing that 10 Things I Hate About Dating is just the first film in a sequel trilogy to the movie that also starred Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Larisa Oleynik, David Krumholtz, Andrew Keegan, and Gabrielle Union. Junger is reportedly penning the script for the first film with Naya Elle James. Junger’s planned trilogy also includes two more titles called 10 Things I Hate About Marriage and 10 Things I Hate About Kids.

In the episode's cold open, a young girl goes missing during a sleepover, setting the stage for a one-year time-jump revolving around the other girls who were there when it happened. The missing girl, Alison Dilaurentis (Sasha Pieterse), still hasn't been found, but her friends collectively receive threatening messages from a certain "A," who seems to know a lot about each of their deepest, darkest secrets. With time, we (along with the girls) learn more about that fateful night, along with the central group's complicated dynamics with one another, especially with the mean-spirited Alicent. There's plenty of drama and intrigue to unwrap here, as this is a show that hinges on snappy dialogue and red herrings to create a convoluted mystery with no obvious solutions.

Lindsay Lohanis set to star in and executive produce the upcoming Hulu drama series, Count My Lies. Based on Sophie Stava’s novel of the same name, the upcoming show marks Lohan’s first lead role on television. The story follows Sloane Caraway, a compulsive liar who manages to land a job as a nanny for the wealthy couple, Violet and Jay Lockhart. Lohan is expected to play the role of Violet, while other cast details remain under wraps.

The series is being developed by This Is Usshowrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger and will dive deep into the psychology of deception. As Sloane continues to work for the Lockharts, she will begin to unravel the secrets that are hidden within their household. When Sally Thorne's "The Hating Game" was released in 2018, it became what one can only call a TikTok sensation. While the term itself does not inspire confidence for a plethora of reasons, Thorne's rom-com novel made a tangible mark on ardent lovers of the romance genre. Sure, it isn't as influential as Sarah J. Mass' "A Court of Thorns and Roses" book series, but "The Hating Game" checked all the genre boxes that make a rom-com enjoyable. The central couple in question — Lucy Hutton and Joshua Templeman — fulfill the classic enemies-to-lovers trope, oscillating between mutual hatred and a budding tension tinged with silly, feel-good shenanigans.

This is not the kind of novel that etches out complex characters or devastates you with its taut storytelling. However, "The Hating Game" is a solid genre entry that succeeds in making good use of cliched tropes while weaving a love story worth rooting for.

Prime Video began production on its new series, Elle, and on April 2, Reese Witherspoon released a first-look photo of Lexi Minetree as Elle Woods.

When reporting on the series update, Deadline shared Prime Video commits to going back in time to tell Elle's past right: "You can tell they’ve gone back in time as the teen uses her clear phone to speak to her friends on a landline, as many did in the '90s. And in true Elle Woods fashion, she’s wearing a pink hoodie and surrounded by her pink bedding."

Viewers can expect a lot of pink attire, corded phones, and possibly some great dialogue. If they fully commit, the audience will be transported back to a different era of music and feel like we're in the Legally Blonde films with a younger spin.

The series has earned a pilot order from the streamer, our sister site Variety reports, with plans to shoot a pilot this summer “to get a better sense of the show’s tone and of the chemistry among the ensemble cast.” No casting for the sequel series has been announced yet.

Deadline broke the news that Seymour is joining a television drama that includes Mae Whitman and Mary McDonnell. It also stars Nathaniel Parker, Julian Morris, and Toby Sandeman.

The new show is The Twelve Dates of Christmas; however, the title could change. It’s based on the book by the same name, Jenni Bayliss. The series will premiere on Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas and stream the following day on Hallmark+. An official premiere date hasn’t been announced. Filming has already begun.

The second season of the supernatural teen drama, which concluded two weeks ago, premiered to an average audience of 3.9 million in its first 28 days, up 94% from the first season premiere.

Peyton List (“Cobra Kai”) stars as Maddie Nears, a teenager who dies at her school and is unable to leave as she tries to discover who killed her. She must unite her friends in the spectral and living worlds in order to reclaim her stolen life.

Paramount+ has just announced that School Spirits has been renewed for Season 3. Looking at the success of the series, it's not a major shocker to see the show get its renewal order. Season 2 premiered to an average of 3.9 million viewers in its first 28 days since launch, which marks a 94% increase in viewership compared to the series premiere in 2023. What was even better for School Spirits was the second season concluding with a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, a rise from the 83% score earned by Season 1.

In addition to Pretty Little Liars, Shepard also penned The Perfectionists book series, both of which have collectively inspired a franchise spanning four television series—Pretty Little Liars, Ravenswood, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists, and Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin.
