But to the rest of the students and staff at the Dunsany College, baffled by the cloak of secrecy that surrounds the Department and its affairs, it has another, more dismissive, name: The Department of Monsterology. Funded by the mysterious Hampton Foundation, the Dept. operates several field teams that roam the globe on extended research expeditions.

Tony Todd, Sydney Tamiia Poitier Will Star In A 'Night Of The Living Dead' Reboot In 3D
Yet another remake/reboot/off-shoot/spin-off/whatever you want to call it of George Romero’s classic Night Of The Living Dead. This one will be in 3D, of course. It comes from Simon West Productions, Graphic Film Company, 2020 Entertainment and Indus Media and Entertainment, and will be titled Night Of The Living Dead: Origins 3D. Starring in the film will be Tony Todd (aka Candyman; although some may not be aware that he starred in a remake of Night Of The Living Dead in 1990 playing Ben, the character originated by the late Duane Jones in Romero's 1968 original), and also Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Tom Sizemore, Bill Mosley, and Bollywood...

‘Night of the Living Dead’ Resurrected Yet Again For Another 3D Remake
Because one 3D remake was not enough, George Romero‘s 1968 horror classic Night of the Living Dead will be resurrected once more, this time by director Zebediah de Soto as Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D. As you might have briefly registered somewhere in your mind, there was a 3D Night of the Living Dead remake in 2006, as well as a follow-up called Night of the Living Dead 3D: Reanimation. To put it bluntly, they were not great. De Soto has the power of time and quality on his side, though. He has a solid cast, consisting of Bollywood star R. Madhavan, and a slew of B-movie horror favorites, like Tom Sizemore, Tony Todd (who was actually in Tom Savini’s 1990 remake), Danielle Harris, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Bill Mosley, Sarah Habel and Joseph Pilato battling the zombies. And when I say time, I mean that we are now in the hey-day of zombie-themed programming. Romero...

Casting Update for Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D
When George A. Romero created Night of the Living Dead, the movie originally carried the title Night of the Flesh Eaters. The title was changed at the last moment and the copyright was lost, immediately putting the film into public domain.

That means that anyone can remake or re-imagine the movie and one of the newer projects is Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D. The movie has been in development for a number of years now, but it’s alive and well and we have a new casting update:

via Dread Central: “Simon West Productions (Black Hawk Down, Con Air, The Expendables 2) and the Graphic Film Company, in association with 2020 Entertainment and Indus Media and Entertainment, announced today that Bollywood actor R. Night of the Living Dead remake to feature Bollywood's Madhavan
3 Idiots star cast in 3D 'origins' version of George Romero's zombie horror classic

Read Film&Music's special on 100 years of Bollywood

With one eye, no doubt, on the potential for a crossover hit, Bollywood star R Madhavan has been cast in a new CGI 'reimagining' of zombie horror classic Night of the Living Dead.

Madhavan, who made his name in Indian cinema in films such as Run, Guru and 3 Idiots, will play what is described as 'an ex-marine' alongside the likes of Tom Sizemore, Tony "Candyman" Todd and Danielle Harris.

In a press release, the makers of Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D describe their film as a "new take on Romero's 1968 original ... the story of a group of survivors fighting to stay alive when a mysterious plague unleashes the undead on New York City".

Directed by Zebediah De Soto and produced by Expendables 2 director Simon West, the...

Get ready for a Bollywood dance number with zombies.

Simon West Productions, Graphic Film Company, 2020 Entertainment and Indus Media and Entertainment are all teaming to create "Night Of The Living Dead: Origins 3D," a (very) loose remake of the George Romero classic.

The story follows a group of survivors who barricade themselves in an abandoned New York apartment building when the zombie plague breaks out.

The project is also being shot "in a CG setting using stereoscopic 3D" which will give the film a look described as a "hybrid of graphic novel and traditional animation."

Bollywood actor R. Madhavan leads a cast that includes Tony Todd, Tom Sizemore, Danielle Harris, Sarah Habel, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Bill Mosley and Joseph Pilato.

Zebediah De Soto will helm from a script he co-wrote with Warren Davis II and David Reuben Schwartz.

A 3D ‘Night Of The Living Dead’ Re-Do In Works With Bollywood Star R. Madhavan
For me, the hallowed ground horror movies are John Carpenter‘s Halloween, Jonathan Demme‘s The Silence Of The Lambs, Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, William Friedkin‘s The Exorcist, and especially Night Of The Living Dead. George Romero’s atmospheric original created the template for the contemporary zombie, and I always thought it would be very difficult to follow in the lumbering footsteps of George’s army of flesh eaters with a remake. Well, get ready for what is being called a 3D re-imagining of the classic. Simon West Productions, and the Graphic Film Company, in association with 2020 Entertainment and Indus Media and Entertainment, have set Bollywood actor R. Madhavan (his films include 3 Idiots, 13B, and Tanu Weds Manu) to star in Night Of The Living Dead: Origins 3D. It’s being directed by Zebediah De Soto and co-written by De Soto, Warren Davis II and David Reuben Schwartz.

Night Of The Living Dead Re-Imagining Will be Totally CG Motion Capture
In what sounds like an attempt to spread the demographic net as wide as possible by producers, the new "Night Of The Living Dead" movie will be completely animated and look like moving artwork from a comic book. To me this doesn't sound too experimental. It sounds like the end result will be very similar to rotoscoping: remember "A Scanner Darkly"? New production company Meyers Media Group has announced that it has picked up international rights to writer/director Zebediah De Soto’s Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D from Simon West Productions. Simon West (director of Con Air) will produce alongside Jib Polhemus (The Mechanic), Gus Malliarodakis and Matty Mangone-Miranda. Exclusive Early Character Test Rendering: Night of the Living Dead Origins
We recently got our hands on some old test render footage from the upcoming Night of the Living Dead: Origins project helmed by our buddy Zeb De Soto.

Even though this was a very early test, what really stands out are the facial features and how natural their animation is. Zeb actually developed his own facial capture system to achieve these results, and we have to say the expressiveness in the eyes especially is pretty impressive. And it's fast, too. Capture one hour of motion data, and you can sync it up to your footage in fraction of that time.

Obivously this is not a finished product, but if the stills we were sent a few weeks back are any indication, Zeb's efforts are certainly worth checking out.

Having developed his own 3D motion capture setup called The Beast, and now creating a really impressive facial capture system, Zeb De...

New Night of the Living Dead: Origins Promo
New promo art has finally been released for the upcoming Zebediah de Soto CGI movie 'Night of the Living Dead: Origins'. The image appeared on the official Facebook page for the flick and respawns the overused undead tagline 'when there is no more room in hell...'. Check it out below. 'New York, a city of the hopes and dreams for many Americans, lies in ruin. The streets and skyscrapers that symbolized the strength and prosperity of a people have become places of horror and despair. The cultural hub of the western world is now home to only ash and blood. For the few people left alive there is only one dream Survival. Zombies, the living dead, have taken the city. Ben and Barbra find themselves trapped and fighting to escape the hordes of undead that walk the streets.' And voicing the CGI characters? None other than...

New promo art for ‘Night of the Living Dead: Origins’
Coming via the films official Facebook page is this all-new promo art for Zebediah De Soto’s Night of the Living Dead: Origins. The film is a 3D CGI re-imagining of the George A. Romero zombie classic, but not in the traditional sense. According to De Soto:

I want to see a helicopter clipping its propeller on a building and careening into a crowd of people. Zombies going through the streets. A thousand people tearing each other apart, zombies tearing them apart, total chaos. One of the first horror films I owned was Night of the Living Dead, it made a huge impression on me. There are all of these interesting little back stories in terms of the other characters, but we only got to follow Barbara in the original. They were always describing these really big scenes, like Ben says a truck is chased down by a horde of zombies.

Character Pics For Night of the Living Dead: Origins
What are the CGI-characters going to look like in Night of the Living Dead: Origins? Find out!

Night of the Living Dead: Origins, Zebediah De Soto's CGI-rendered remake of the classic George Romero tale, now has a Facebook page, where it released a couple character pictures. We approached this apprehensively, as we would any Romero remake, and so far, the movie looks much like a video game cut scene.

Still, we're anxious to see a trailer and find out if De Soto can deliver on an American classic. He has brought Tony Todd in to voice the character of Ben, which Todd has experience playing from Tom Savini's Night of the Living Dead remake. (at one point, Mos Def was mentioned for the role).

Exclusive: More Night of the Living Dead: Origins Images
More exclusive artwork has come our way for Zebediah de Soto's upcoming 3D animated feature film Night of the Living Dead: Origins, and like everything else we've seen from this project, things are lookin' pretty damned cool.

"I wanted to make this look like a living Monet; it's expressionism," de Soto said in an earlier interview. "It's going to be the first zombie movie played on a epic scale. This is the 'Empire of the Sun' of zombie films ... I lived through the L.A. riots and saw the city on fire; I remember seeing people running, people getting pulled out of cars. And with 9/11, these images have been ingrained on people of my generation. I just thought that is the way it would really be, a lot of chaos."

Director de Soto, who also pulls co-writing duties on the project, describes Notld: Origins, which will be in 3D,...

Moseley Talks Night of the Living Dead: Origins
Writer-director Zebediah de Soto is deep into production on Night of the Living Dead: Origins , starring Danielle Harris, Bill Moseley, Tony Todd and Joe Pilato. We've seen very little from this unique undead romp so we have to cling to whatever the film's participants have to say. Here we have Moseley (playing "Johnny" - a role he slipped into for Night of the Living Dead '90) - talking again about De Soto's vision and the fact that the story is set in New York City: "It is animation but it is also like live action animation. I never actually worked with anyone; it was just me and the director, Zebediah DeSoto," he tells Movie Mike. "We stood in a recording booth and ran the dialogue. They then take photographs of you and try and sculpt you Then...

Long Time No See: Joe Pilato
It's 25 years since Day Of The Dead first hit screens, how do you feel it has influenced cinema?

Joe Pilato: "Well, to paraphrase The Beatles, it was 25 years ago today that George A. Romero taught the fans to play. I think the significance of the movie is the fact that it's the third in the series and great things happen in threes. I think over the 25 years, the expansion and growth from the very simplistic guerrilla filmmaking aspect of Night Of The Living Dead to the more sophisticated Dawn Of The Dead to the third story George created stands above as having the most modern sensibility. George has always referred to it as his favourite child of the three. I think it's held up to the test of time and has brought an incredible amount of new fans into the genre."

Why do you think the film has endured so long?...

Tony Todd in Night of the Living Dead: Origins
We were just talking about how the wicked, animated zombie flick A.D. was shaping up and now the fellas at Dread Central have scored an exclusive look at Tony Todd reprising his role of "Ben" in the 3D prequel, Night of The Living Dead: Origins. I'm so giddy that I'm getting the shakes! However, Tony isn't the only person reprising his role from the 1990 remake. Read more about this American Zombie Anime in 3D.

Yes it's true. Tony Todd is reprising the role of "Ben". Originally the role was thought to be filled by Hip Hop artist Mos Def but he apparently dropped out. As far as we're concerned this couldn't be better news. Todd already has experience with this role and character when he played Ben back in Tom Savini's 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead. Bill Moseley will also be reprising his 1990 remake role as...

Awesome First Look at 'Night of the Living Dead: Origins'
Of all the films in production, the one I might be most excited for is Zebediah de Soto's Night Of The Living Dead: Origins, a new animated 3D feature starring Tony Todd, Jesse Corti, Danielle Harris, Bill Moseley, Joe Pilato, Alona Tal and Cornell Womack. Zeb has impressed me off the scale in previous years and I'm quite sure whatever he puts out will be quite simply stunning. Beyond the break you'll find your first ever look at Tony Todd as Ben from the film that once again follows a group of humans trying to stay alive during a zombie attack.

Bill Moseley Talks Night Of The Living Dead: Origins
Shock Till You Drop caught up with fan fave actor Bill Moseley at tonight's La premiere of The Graves , now playing as part of After Dark Films Horrorfest 4. "I didn.t know Brian Pulido before doing The Graves ," says Moseley. "I actually liked working with him a lot. He.s a first time director, but he was very collaborative and very encouraging. For me, although movies are a collaborative effort, you ultimately defer to the writer or director, but it.s fun to work together and try to find new things about the different scenes and different characters. Brian was very open to that and very generous." One project with Moseley's involvement that we're intrigued about is the new animated 3D take of Night Of The Living Dead: Origins from director Zebediah...

More Cast Added to Night of the Living Dead: Origins
Danielle Harris is getting some help fighting off the zombie hordes in writer-director Zebediah De Soto's "re-imagining" of George Romero's horror classic Night of the Living Dead, titled Night of the Living Dead: Origins.

THR reports that Bill Moseley (1990's Night of the Living Dead), Joe Pilato (Romero's Day of the Dead), Alona Tal (Supernatural), Jesse Corti (Heroes) and Cornell Womack (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) will join the previously cast Harris to do voice work on the CGI-animated movie. Moseley will play Johnny, Harris' brother, while Pilato and Tal will play the voice of the Coopers, the couple who argue to stay in the basement in Romero's original. Corti will play a no-nonsense New York cop and Womack a news reporter.

Moseley and Pialto's ties to Romero are no coincidence, and De Soto calls the casting "a nod to Romero fans. Horror is a genre and zombie movies...

Cast Official for Night of the Living Dead: Origins
The unconfirmed cast of director Zebediah De Soto's CGI "re-imagining" Night of the Living Dead: Origins is finally official. Danielle Harris, Bill Moseley, Joe Pilato, Alona Tal were all previously announced, but were unconfirmed. Well, dust off that tie and drive to the church because this cast is confirmed!

Moseley will return as Johnny, the part he played in Tom Savini's 1990 remake, and will likely play Johnny in every remake made from here on out. Harris will play Barbara, and Pilato (who appeared in Romero's Dawn of the Dead) and Tal will voice the Coopers.

The casting of Piluto and Moseley is obviously a calculated one, one De Soto explained is "a nod to Romero fans. Horror is a genre and zombie movies are a subgenre that people have been following for years and years." De Soto is one of those followers, and claims that Night of the Living Dead...

CG Night Of The Living Dead Grabs Voices

As in the original, the story will follow a group of humans (including, in this case a news reporter, a Wall Street yuppie type and a no-nonsense Noo Yoik cop) as they try to survive the zombpocalypse. There are even a few nods to Romero's work here - Moseley is a veteran of the 1990 remake of Living Dead, while Pilato was among the cast of 1978's Dawn Of The Dead. And de Soto has been talking to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog about the film,...

Excl: De Soto Talks Night of the Living Dead: Origins 3D
Caught in the confused chaos of the Los Angeles riots of the early '90s, a young Zebediah de Soto witnessed first-hand smoke-filled skies and people in the throes of panic. For his largest endeavor yet, a 3-D CGI Night of the Living Dead film subtitled "Origins," co written by David Schwartz and produced by Simon West Productions, De Soto wants to take those riot images etched into his brain and translate them to the screen. Adding in a horde of ravenous zombies, of course. "I want to see a helicopter clipping its propeller on a building and careening into a crowd of people. Zombies going through the streets. A thousand people tearing each other apart, zombies tearing them apart, total chaos," De Soto expresses with an air of enthusiasm that is fighting...
