Exclusive: Domestic rights for the George Gallo directed Robert De Niro comedy The Comeback Trail have been scooped up by Cloudburst Entertainment for a Nov. 13 wide release. Robert De Niro, Morgan Freeman and Tommy Lee Jones star.
The second teaming between De Niro and Gallo since the 1988 action comedy Midnight Run, which the latter wrote, follows Max Barber (De Niro) and his partner Walter (Zach Braff) who play down-and-out B-Movie producers who find themselves in trouble with mob boss Reggie Fontaine (Morgan Freeman). To save himself and Walter, Barber has to sell the only great script he’s ever had to his former intern and, now, A-Movie producer, James Moore (Emile Hirsch). On the first day of shooting Moore’s lead actor dies in a stunt accident and lets him cash in on a huge insurance policy. That gives Barber an idea to do the same. They take a horrible...

Hey, you missed a spot. Martin Scorsese's The Irishman paints over some interrelated mob hits.
This article contains small The Irishman spoilers.
You have to have some knowledge of mob history to appreciate segments of The Irishman. Director Martin Scorsese is telling a very long history, based on an exhaustive book, I Heard You Paint Houses by author Charles Brandt. The biography details Frank Sheeran, played by Robert De Niro in the film, confessing to killing about 30 people. So Scorsese can be pardoned for skimming past key points, especially where Sheeran isn’t even part of a contract.
For example, Scorsese shows us a shooting in Columbus Circle. The film notes how significant the event is, but doesn’t present a full background, making it look like Joseph Colombo was killed by the African American shooter. He wasn’t. This is a necessary cut; the movie...

In a letter from the editor posted to the magazine's website, Drew wrote, "It's so fun to unveil a big enormous piece of content and then fold it to my choices of size and handheld origami," adding, "It's a ritual that I am proud to display in front of my kids [Olive and Frankie] as we lay in bed together at the start of every day." I missed Cher.
This was Thursday night last week, at a rally in Manhattan’s Columbus Circle outside of a Trump hotel. I went, as I often do, to put my body on the line for something in which I believe. In this case, I wanted to stand with my fellow New Yorkers to express my horror about the Inauguration taking place the next day.
I stood there for about an hour. A woman sang, beautifully. Rosie Perez welcomed us. Alec Baldwin did his Trump impression. Steve Buscemi talked. New York City mayor Bill deBlasio spoke, followed by the mayor of Minneapolis. Michael Moore was very funny, but at this point, my back started to hurt, and I decided that I had been seen enough to make my statement.
Andy Warhol famously said that, in the future, everyone would be famous for 15 minutes. He did not explain why we should care.

Many also shouted "F— Donald Trump!" and "F— the wall" as they headed toward Trump's main residence and campaign headquarters in Manhattan. Two New York City police officers are being hailed as heroes for their quick-thinking reaction Wednesday, when they sped away from a crowded Times Square carrying what they thought was a bomb that had been tossed into their van, police said. Several hours and one suspect in custody later and, police tell People, the truth is more clear: Police allege that 52-year-old Hector Meneses threw a device appearing to be a bomb into a police van in Times Square about 11:30 p.m. local time Wednesday. The two officers in the van drove away from the crowd to minimize potential casualties from an explosion.

When I first met Ivan Reitman, I was warned to be on my best behavior. I was an employee at Dave’s Video, a laserdisc retail store, and Reitman was one of the store’s most important customers. He, Steven Spielberg, and Danny DeVito all had a standing order. They wanted one of every title. Everything. If it came out, they owned it. Reitman’s assistants picked orders up frequently, but every now and then, he’d be the one that came in, sometimes with his teenage son Jason in tow. When he did come in, it was important that we keep him happy. He was one of the guys keeping the doors of that business open, and we absolutely went out of our way to make sure he got anything he wanted. He turned out to be far less scary than he'd been described when I finally helped him one afternoon,...

"It's a real potboiler that is boiling and boiling and boiling and erupts in a way that few films ever do," director Dan Trachtenberg, 34, exclaimed over his first full-length feature, 10 Cloverfield Lane. Well, it's certainly hard to argue with him.
From the opening Psycho-fueled moments to the allusions to Notorious to the surprising twist of a finale, it's hard to recall a recent film that made squirming in one's seat such a pleasurable pastime. Produced with a sure hand by J.J. Abrams, with a relentlessly unnerving score by Bear McCreary, razor-sharp editing by Stefan Grube, and wry plotting by Josh Campbell and Matthew Stuecken, there is a reason the audience at the screening I attended spilled its popcorn every which way. These folks were freaking out but without having to be exposed to the full panoply of gore and excessive physical violence that most horror films apply with a trowel.

All bets are off in this week's episode of Forever. Does the show have a massive twist in store for the season one finale?
This review contains spoilers.
1.16 Memories Of Murder
When The Ecstasy Of Agony first introduced Iona ‘Molly’ Payne (Hilarie Burton) it marked a previous high point for the series. Because at the time it very effectively railroaded the show off a predictable track towards Henry and Jo becoming partners. While Forever has slipped back towards that on occasion, Memories Of Murder, and the return of Molly really scuppered some of those possibilities, and also entirely altered what appeared to be the future focal point of the whole show.
But before I get into that, there’s a mystery to unravel about a women found dead as if she’d time travelled from the seventies, and how that links into fading memories of the past. That was at best so-so,...

Forever won't be winning any prizes for technical accuracy this week, but its character work deserves real praise...
This review contains spoilers.
1.15 The King Of Columbus Circle
Compared with the previous story, this episode of Forever seemed substantially better organised and included superior character moments to the last outing.
Starting with an old man asking for a visa to return to his country of birth, a lyrical narrative was formed where he was previously connected to Henry as a young boy with acute appendicitis.
This show works well when referencing the past, even if sometimes the details aren’t as well researched as they could have easily been. (I suspect the Orient Express carriages should have been dark blue, and the width of the entire train was just 10.4 inches, making the sleeping car is at least four feet too wide. But none of that actually made the episode any less entertaining or interesting.

Lin-Manuel Miranda now has what he considers a "superpower" thanks to his years rapping with his hip-hop improv group Freestyle Love Supreme. And now that superpower, along with the others who possess it, has a platform: a Freestyle Love Supreme TV show premieres on Pivot tonight. EW chatted with Miranda—best known as the star, composer...

Ghostbusters is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, and while the franchise’s future may be nebulous at the moment, its place in movie history is unquestionable. To honor the film’s legacy, EW’s Kyle Ryan took a tour of New York City according to Ghostbusters with Winston Zeddemore himself, Ernie Hudson.
Coinciding with the release of a 30th anniversary edition of Ghostbusters released on Blu-Ray this past Tuesday, Sept. 16, Hudson revisited some of the film’s most memorable sites. Along the way, Hudson shared memories from working on certain key scenes, like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man’s march into Columbus Circle,...

Macquarie Securities analyst Amy Yong on Wednesday suggested that NBCUniversal could end up being worth more than Time Warner if its recent financial and ratings momentum continues. In a reported entitled "30 Rock > Columbus Circle?," a reference to the locations of the two entertainment giants' New York headquarters, she wrote: "NBCU’s accelerated progress has gone lost in the regulatory review process [for owner Comcast's planned acquisition of Time Warner Cable]. If broadcast ratings continue their upward trajectory, rebranding efforts at cable networks resonate and film/theme parks layer on additional franchises, NBCU could be worth $50 billion and more

Errol Morris on The Unknown Known: "It could be like Jabberwocky out of Alice In Wonderland and Through The Looking-Glass" Photo: Anne-Katrin Titze "It's a failure of imagination. It's important to have priorities," says former Us Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and we see his memo on strategic thought from September 30, 2001 on the screen in Errol Morris's The Unknown Known.
In New York the snowflakes were falling as Peggy Siegal hosted a perfect evening with Tom Brokaw and Errol Morris in conversation at the Museum of Arts and Design on Columbus Circle followed by dinner at Circo. Among those walking the red carpet before The Unknown Known were Naomi Wolf, Candice Bergen, David Chase, Jamie Colby and 60 Minutes men Morley Safer and Bob Simon.
I had a quick chat with Errol Morris and Naomi Wolf before the screening.
Anne-Katrin Titze: There seems to be some confusion what the Unknown Known really is.

“How elaborate is the camera?” The Foxy Merkins director Madeleine Olnek texted me as I was walking to photograph her with her female laden crew at Columbus Circle. “We would like to stage ourselves being hit by a cab,” she explained simply and obviously. As it happened, a few months prior to making The Foxy Merkins, a film about lesbian hookers, Olnek was in a taxi driven by a woman named Debbie. They got to talking and Debbie threw out the “If you ever need an [insert random gender, race, or career here]” phrase filmmakers always get. In Debbie’s case it […]...
