"Will you catch them?" Republic Pictures has unveiled an official trailer for a crime thriller film titled The Silent Hour, the latest from filmmaker Brad Anderson. This action thriller will debut in theaters and on VOD starting in October if anyone's curious, without showing up at any festivals either. The film follows a hearing impaired police detective who works as an interpreter for the department and must confront a team of corrupt cops trying to eliminate a deaf murder witness who lives alone in an apartment building. Season 2 of the hit Netflix Addams Family series Wednesday is expected to start filming in Ireland (season 1 was shot in Romania) by the end of this month, and some new cast members are joining in on the fun this time around. Last week, we learned that Steve Buscemi (Fargo) has been cast as the new principal of Nevermore Academy, and now Variety reports that Thandiwe Newton has signed on to play an unspecified role.

Brad Anderson, a director whose credits include Session 9 and The Call, was recently hired to direct the zombie film Twilight of the Dead, which is based on a treatment left behind by the great George A. Romero when he passed away in 2017. Twilight of the Dead is expected to start filming in Puerto Rico by the end of this year – and Deadline reports that Anderson has already lined up the project he’ll be making after he works with Romero zombies. It’s a sci-fi action creature feature called Worldbreaker, which The Exchange will be presenting to potential international distributors at the upcoming American Film Market.

Brad Anderson will direct Twilight of the Dead, the seventh and final movie of George A. Romero's Living Dead franchise.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Anderson will helm the film, which multi-platform production company Roundtable Entertainment will produce and finance. "George Romero's 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead may have been the first real horror movie I ever saw, and its shock value, keen social relevance, and even the means by which it was made were all hugely inspirational to me," Anderson said. "This, too, is a zombie movie in which limbs fly and heads roll, but one that is also about social transformation, one that asks the question: What is it to be human? It is also a horror movie with heart and dare I say, hope."

Back in 2021, it was revealed that the legendary George A. Romero (who passed away in 2017) had left behind a treatment for the “seventh and final installment” in his Dead franchise – following Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, Land of the Dead, Diary of the Dead, and Survival of the Dead. The story Romero had come up with used a title than many fans expected him to use for his follow-up to Day, Twilight of the Dead, and the team of Joe Knetter, Robert Lucas, and Paolo Zelati, who also worked on the treatment with Romero, were working on fleshing it out into a screenplay. Last month, we heard that Twilight of the Dead had secured funding from Roundtable Entertainment. And now we know who’s going to direct the film: Session 9 director Brad Anderson!

April on Prime Video is stacked with returning favorites, the launch of one of Amazon’s biggest shows ever and a bevy of great movies to watch. The fifth and final season of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” launches on April 14, while Amazon will premiere the globe-trotting action-thriller series “Citadel” – starring Priyanka Chopra-Jonas and Richard Madden – on April 28. The show hails from “Avengers: Endgame” filmmaker Joe and Anthony Russo.

Prime Video is hoping to launch its own extended franchise universe in April with the premiere of international spy series “Citadel” from the minds of the Russo Brothers. The first version will begin streaming on April 28. In the show, the world is in the grips of Manticore, a criminal organization, and several former spies are recruited to restore order despite having their memories erased.

Copenhagen Intl. Documentary Film Festival, better known as Cph:dox, has unveiled its full program, which includes the screenings of 180 films, interactive art, and 40 live debates and talks with artists, experts and opinion-makers.

The festival offers new films from a number of leading directors. Werner Herzog, Gianfranco Rosi, Shelly Silver, Errol Morris, Ulrike Ottinger, Spike Lee and Sergei Losnitza all participate in the festival with their films, as does Muppet master Frank Oz, who is back with “In & Of Itself.”

As previously reported, Marina Abramovic, David Byrne, and Slavoj Zizek will feature in the discussion program “An Evening With.”

The digital festival will be available on Cph:dox’s digital platform from April 21 to May 5. From May 6-12, a selection of films will be screened in movie theaters in Copenhagen.

Exclusive: NBC has put in development Level, a drama from writer Sean Finegan (Reset), Julie Anne Robinson’s CannyLads Productions and Universal TV where CannyLads is based.

Written by Finegan, the idea for Level was sparked by his experience with investing and startups. The series revolves around Charlie Hunt, who has the most brilliant business mind in history, but after a jarring family tragedy, Charlie quit chasing profits and repurposed his unique skills to shut down villains who live above the law by making whatever they’re doing an economic impossibility. He hits them where it hurts and levels the playing field for everyone else.

Finegan executive produces with CannyLads’ Robinson, who also is set to directs, and Kelly Pancho. Universal TV is the studio.

Earlier this month, Blumhouse Productions and WWE Studios unveiled the first Sleight trailer, which introduced Jacob Latimore as Bo, a street magician whose skills go far beyond your typical card and coin tricks. The decision to catch just one last wave almost costs Nancy (Blake Lively) her life in the first of two clips from Sony's new thriller The Shallows, hitting theaters June 29. This clip shows Nancy interacting with two fellow surfers who plan on calling it a day, when Nancy reveals she wants to stay out for just one more run. Little does she know that a deadly shark is lurking in these seemingly-peaceful waters.

The second clip , which surfaced on YouTube, features Nancy showing off her surfing skills for these strangers, before this killer shark is seen stalking its prey. With just a few weeks left until The Shallows hits theaters on June 29, it isn't known if another trailer will be released from this upcoming thriller. Blake Lively leads a minimalist cast that also includes Oscar Jaenada, Sedona Legge and Brett Cullen.

This taut thrill-ride centers on Nancy (Blake Lively), who is surfing on a secluded beach, when she finds herself on the feeding ground of a great white shark. Though she is stranded only 200 yards from shore, survival proves to be the ultimate test of wills, requiring all of Nancy's ingenuity, resourcefulness, and fortitude. We learned in an earlier trailer that Nancy has come to this beach after her mother passed away, but there isn't much else we know about the story. This project was formerly known as In the Deep, which previously had Louis Leterrier set to direct.

Sony Pictures has set a June 29 release date, which falls on the Wednesday before The Bfg, The Purge: Election Year and The Legend of Tarzan are set to hit theaters. Jaume Collet-Serra directs The Shallows. The filmmaker was first introduced to audiences with his 2005 remake House of Wax, but he has become better known for his collaborations with action icon Liam Neeson. They first worked together on 2011's Unknown, before reuniting on Non-Stop and last year's Run All Night. They will next team-up for The Commuter, which arrives in 2017.

Anthony Jaswinski wrote The Shallows, a script that wound up on the coveted Black List. He also wrote the 2010 thriller Vanishing on 7th Street, Kristy and his directorial debut Killing Time. Weimaraner Republic Pictures partners Lynn Harris and Matti Leshem are producing. Later this month, the actor's wife Blake Lively is hoping for a hit of her own with the upcoming shark thriller The Shallows, which hits theaters on June 29. Today we have a final trailer, which takes a unique approach to the journey Blake Lively's character Nancy must endure.

Sony Pictures debuted this new trailer on YouTube, which features plenty of footage but no dialogue from Blake Lively. Instead, the footage is matched with audio from a 1951 educational video entitled Developing Self-Reliance, with the narrator talking about how developing skills for self-reliance takes hard work. The footage shows Nancy surfing by herself, when a massive shark knocks her off her board, forcing her to take refuge on a rock, while this deadly predator circles around her.

Satanic is a horror film picked up by Magnet Releasing, in 2014. Now, the film has a trailer. The clip shows four friends on the way to Coachella. On the trip, they decide to stop at real life occult sites. Events heat up when they meet a Satanic runaway. The film was written by Anthony Jaswinski, who also wrote the tepid horror feature Vanishing on 7th Street. Hopefully, Satanic will offer a few more scares, than this 2010 film. The script by Anthony Jaswinski (Vanishing on 7th Street) sparked a heated bidding war last September, in which Sony beat out Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox. The script landed on the 2014 Black List as one of the top unproduced screenplays of the year.

The story follows a young girl, mourning the recent loss of her mother, who goes surfing on a remote beach. After being attacked by a shark, she finds herself stranded on a buoy, 20 yards off shore, with this massive great white shark standing in her way between the buoy and the beach. She must find a way back to shore before succumbing to her injuries. The script has been described as a cross between 127 Hours, Gravity and the shark classic Jaws.

“The Machinist” director Brad Anderson has signed up to helm Sony’s “Bourne-esque spy tale” (aren’t they all?) “Shadow Run,” according to Deadline. The script, written by “Cliffhanger” writer Joe Gazzam, was the subject a frenzied bidding war earlier this year and is being kept under tight wraps with no plot details revealed yet. Truth be told, an action thriller isn’t too much of a stretch for Anderson’s sensibilities, since his filmography has trended towards genre fare with films like “Session 9” and “Vanishing on 7th Street.” If anything, at least “Shadow Run” has a bigger potential to actually reach audiences, as opposed to his latest output, “Stonehearst Asylum,” which saw release last month unbeknownst to anyone. After last week’s news about Netflix securing The Blacklist for a record fee, a similar story came to light this week concerning the pre Batman prequel series Gotham. Now rather than getting it day and date after Us broadcast as per Breaking Bad and From Dusk Till Dawn, Gotham’s entire run will just arrive on Netflix after it’s finished its TV broadcast. Worse news is that this means you have to wait for Channel 5 to get their finger out and schedule it on one of their three channels and then muck it around the schedule just to confuse you further and for it to finish its run there. Kind of takes the wind out the sails doesn’t it? I wouldn’t expect to see Gotham on Netflix until this time next year at best but we will see.

The Wagner/Cuban Company’s Magnet Releasing announced today that they have acquired worldwide rights to Satanic, a new supernatural teen-horror film currently in script stage.

Satanic will be the feature film debut of director Jeff Hunt, a veteran television director with experience on shows such as Fringe, Hawaii 5-0, CSI, Nikita, Person of Interest and Dark Blue. Anthony Jawinski (Kristy, Vanishing on 7th Street) wrote the screenplay.

Satanic follows a van full of young, college-aged coeds who are visiting old Satanic Panic-era sites in Los Angeles. They end up following the creepy owner of an occult store home, only to find themselves saving a suspicious girl from an apparent human sacrifice. Only this “victim” turns out to be much more than dangerous then the cult from which she escaped.

Satanic is a co-production with MarVista Entertainment (MarVista) and Circle of Confusion, producers of The Walking Dead.

Comedy movie Ride Along is one of those movies that scored way better with moviegoers than critics, $118.5 million at the box office better!

The film stars comedian Kevin Hart (This Is the End) as videogame junkie and security guard Ben whose marriage proposal has just been accepted by his girlfriend Angela (Tika Sumpter, Sparkle). The problem is, Angela’s bad-ass detective brother-in-law James (Ice Cube, 21 Jump Street) doesn’t think he’s worthy.
