Before the formation of DC Studios, Warner Bros. brought many of its characters to television. Some like The Flash and Superman were well known to fans; others - the Doom Patrol and Human Target, for example - were not.
The plan moving forward is for the vast majority of live-action projects to take place in the Dcu, meaning we're likely to see fewer comic book heroes and villains on-screen.
In a recent interview with The Direct, Dean Lorey, the creator of animated TV shows Harley Quinn and Kite Man: Hell Yeah!, revealed that he briefly worked on a Hitman TV series for Syfy based on the little-known but still popular character.
Kite Man: Hell Yeah! has featured appearances from several characters tied to Hitman's world, something which now makes a lot more sense.
"Because we established the bar Noonan's, that sort of naturally led to some Hitman characters," he told the site.

With James Gunn calling the shots at DC Studios, we're expecting a far greater number of obscure characters from the comics to get their chance to shine in the new Dcu.
That's exciting for fans and if a new rumour shared by FilmFront is anything to go by, a Human Target TV series is also in development.
Comic book writer Tom King (who is working on Lanterns and inspired Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow with his series of the same name) has reportedly been working on the projects since the start of 2024. He'll be Human Target's main writer and the search for a showrunner - and lead star - is said to be underway.
As you might expect, Gunn and Peter Safran will executive produce.

In the sixth-season episode of "Bones" called "The Finder," which aired in April of 2012, Brennan and Booth (Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz) travel to the Florida Everglades to investigate the death of a maritime museum worker whose remains in the woods lead to the discovery of a fragment of a 17th-century map. The map may lead to sunken treasure (!) and our heroes know that if they find the rest of the map, they'll likely uncover a murderer.
To help with their investigation, the two agents hire an eccentric local named Walter Sherman (Geoff Stults), an old friend of Booth's. Walter is a kooky former soldier and head injury sufferer who possesses a bizarre, obsessive talent for locating lost objects. It's implied that Walter may even have semi-clairvoyant powers.

Stars: Jon Hamm, Roy Wood Jr., Annie Mumolo, Ayden Mayeri, Lorenza Izzo, Kyle MacLachlan, Marcia Gay Harden | Written by Greg Mottola, Zev Borow | Directed by Greg Mottola
After what seems like an eternity of talk of a third Fletch movie, it has finally arrived. Not the Fletch we were expecting (I’d honestly still like to see Kevin Smith’s proposed version with Jason Lee) but a Fletch that has a pretty decent pedigree – including Jon Hamm playing the titular character and Greg Mottola and Zev Borow behind the camera. Ok, so it won’t match up to the craziness of Chevy Chase’s two Fletch movies (could any new Fletch movie?) but we’ve got the acting chops, plus the action And the comedy experience – all of which stand the film in good stead…
Confess, Fletch sees the roguishly charming and endlessly troublesome Fletch (Hamm) become the prime suspect...

McG, who has been busy producing movies for Netflix, returned to broadcast television this season with three pilots on three different networks for his Wonderland Sound and Vision banner, True Lies, based on James Cameron’s 1994 movie, on CBS; Not Dead Yet starring Gina Rodriguez on ABC; and the Jensen Ackles-produced Supernatural prequel The Winchesters on the CW. Over the last couple of days, all three were picked up to series. Additionally, BET+ just picked up Wonderland’s series Average Joe, created by Robb Cullen and starring Deon Cole.
The slate of four series on the air harkens back to Wonderland’s most prolific time in television a decade ago when the company also had four series with Supernatural, Nikita, Chuck and Human Target. The company’s executive team includes McG’s longtime partner, Mary Viola, who serves as President, and EVP Corey Marsh.

This Young Justice Phantoms review contains spoilers.
Young Justice Season 4 Episode 13
Young Justice Phantoms hit its midseason break with this week’s episode, “Kaerb Ym Traeh!” And it was maybe the strongest episode of the season: lots of storylines were tied off, while the annoying motion comic section was cordoned off to an argument between the Lords of Chaos and Order, and Vandal Savage and the Phantom Stranger. Not moving any of the figures around wasn’t actually a problem there, because the motion wasn’t necessarily the point.
This week’s episode is also the first with a legitimate post-credits scene, and it’s…an interesting choice. They’re gonna hide Desaad in Mary Bromfeld.
The episode brings closure to Zatanna’s portion of the story. Her team battles Child and Flaw to save Earth, while Savage talks the Lords of Chaos out of supporting Child and evening the odds for the team.

Other creatives who have signed with Disney’s new TV acquisition include Wendy & Lizzie Molyneux, Drew Goddard, Jason Winer, Octavia Spencer, Nora Smith, Jake Kasdan & Melvin Mar, Marlene King, Liz Meriwether, Amy Holden Jones, Dan Fogelman and Jon M. Chu.

Despite much of the network’s airtime being devoted to procedurals, CBS has developed a recent tradition of devoting its summer programming slots to more out-there genre programming — shows that might defy expectations and represent more bonkers storytelling.
This year, look to “Blood and Treasure” as the latest show to follow in this tradition. A modern-day action thriller with touches of “Indiana Jones” and “National Treasure,” creators Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia deliver an odd couple globe-trotting adventure about an antiquities expert and a cunning art thief who team up to take down a notorious thief/terrorist (played by “The Mummy’s” Oded Fehr.)
Matt Barr, previously seen in the CW’s “Valor” and Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow,” leads the cast alongside Sofia Pernas, whose recent TV credits include “Jane the Virgin” and NBC’s “The Brave.” The series also stars Michael James Shaw, Katia Winter, James Callis, Alicia Coppola,...

Once Arrow fans had a chance to digest the official synopsis for the season finale, none of us could help pondering which returning familiar faces it was referring to. Whether your suspicions be directed toward Talia al Ghul, Ricardo Diaz or Curtis Holt, these are all entirely valid choices, but some recently presented evidence may hint at who one of them may be.
Believe it or not, the network has released two more images from next week’s episode, “Living Proof,” and they feature none other than Colin Donnell’s Tommy Merlyn. I don’t know why these couldn’t have been included in the original set released earlier this week, but you’re free to check them out below.
As longtime viewers of the series should recall, Tommy met his untimely demise during season 1’s finale but has appeared in flashbacks and hallucinations in the time since. More recently,...

Matt Miller, the creator of Fox’s “Lethal Weapon” series, has inked a new exclusive multiyear overall deal with Warner Bros. TV, a person with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap.
Miller is also a co-creator of NBC sitcom “Trial & Error,” which we learned last week is currently being shopped by Wbtv to other platforms. Season 2 of the low-rated comedy is currently toiling away in the hot (and lightly viewed) summer months, and the deadline for NBC to renew or cancel the comedy has passed. They could still bring it back though — if NBC wants to and is the highest bidder.
Under terms of his new deal, Miller will continue to develop new drama and comedy series for the studio.

Brad Kern has been suspended from NCIS: New Orleans.
The news was confirmed Sunday the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
“I believe in terms of keeping him out of the workplace during the investigation, that was to be as fair and open as we could be,” CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl told reporters.
“The investigation is ongoing. I’m told we will have results soon.”
This marks the third misconduct investigation against Kern at the network. Variety confirmed in December last year that there were two internal investigations that were found inconclusive.

“Dark Matter” (Syfy)
The “Dark Matter” TV series came years after the debut of the Dark Horse comic book it’s based on, but creators Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie originally conceived of the series — about six individuals who wake up on a starship together with their memories wiped — as a TV show before it was redeveloped as a comic in 2012.
“Wynonna Earp” (Syfy)
Syfy has a number of science fiction series based on lesser known comic book titles, including the fan-favorite “Wynonna Earp,” starring Melanie Scrofano as the demon-fighting descendent of legendary lawman Wyatt Earp.
“Outcast” (Cinemax)
After the massive success of AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” creator Robert Kirkman went on to adapt his supernatural horror comic series “Outcast” for television. The adaptation, starring Patrick Fugit as the titular outcast, debuted on Cinemax in 2016.

Ever since Tommy Merlyn was killed off way back in season 1’s finale, the producers of Arrow have thought of crafty ways for Colin Donnell to reprise his role. For the most part, those consisted of flashbacks and hallucinations, but last fall’s Crisis on Earth-x crossover saw the Nazi-ridden alternate universe’s version of Prometheus be unmasked as Tommy’s doppelganger, which had to come as a shock to a fair percentage of viewers.
But what may have been the slickest way of bringing him back was witnessed a few weeks ago when he crashed Oliver Queen’s trial in full Green Arrow regalia. Of course, speculation ran rampant as to how this was even possible up until the point of airing, but it was ultimately revealed that Christopher Chance Aka the Human Target had assumed Tommy’s likeness in order to do the Emerald Archer a solid.

Although Arrow did its best Law & Order impression last night, that didn’t mean it wasn’t a nail-biter of the highest order. In fact, it had many twists and turns to be enjoyed, in addition to Ricardo Diaz learning that he can’t win in every situation.
Long story short, we had two MVPs yesterday evening, with the obvious one being Christopher Chance Aka the Human Target, who posed as both Tommy Merlyn and the judge who overrode the jury’s decision, and acquitted Oliver Queen. The other, of course, was that of Black Siren, whose testimony went against Diaz’s wishes, thus making an incredible stride in her path toward redemption.
So, now that the Dragon’s Plan A has failed, he’s going with his backup – and that means all-out war on Team Arrow and those they hold most dear. In fact, the trailer at the...

Oliver Queen may be going to jail.
On Arrow Season 6 Episode 21, he will attempt to sway the jury to think that he is not the Green Arrow, but that will be easier said than done.
With Diaz in power and a dirty police force working against the good guys, Oliver's days as a free man could well and truly be numbered.
This hour will also feature the return of former series regular Colin Donnell who played Tommy Merlyn earlier in the show's run.
Obviously, the chances of it being the Earth-1 iteration of the character are slim, but stranger things have happened on Arrow.
The more likely scenario is that Human Target could be posing as Tommy to take the heat off Oliver. Will the residents of Star City be able to get on board with whatever story is cooked up?

Fox is developing a new TV series based on author Dennis Lehane's 1998 novel Gone Baby Gone. This would be the second time the story has been adapted. Back in 2007, Casey Affleck and Michelle Monaghan starred in the Ben Affleck directed film.
I thought the movie was great but it's not hard to imagine the story being adapted into a series. A series will give more of an opportunity to explore the characters more in depth and tell different stories involving the two characters.
Fox has ordered a pilot episode and it will be written by Robert Levine (Black Sails, Touch, Human Target, Judging Amy. Lehane will serve as an executive producer on the project, the story of which revolves around private detectives Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro who, "armed with their wits, street knowledge and undeniable chemistry, right the wrongs that the law can't in a working-class Boston borough of Dorchester.

Love him or hate him, you have to acknowledge that every superhero you admire today owes their existence to the Man of Steel – and it all started back in 1938 with the release of Action Comics #1. In those pages, we saw the debut of Superman, who soon went on to completely take over that title and headline an ongoing series of his own.
Originally created by Jerry Siegel and the Joe Shuster, Big Blue has since inspired fans in radio productions, animation, live action cinema and especially the realm of television, which is seemingly never bereft of Kal-El or his supporting characters for too long.
Not surprisingly, DC Comics intend on honoring his enduring legacy next year with the historic release of Action Comics #1000, the first comic book to organically reach that milestone. (Face it, Deadpool‘s tongue-in-cheek thousandth issue doesn’t count.) And as such, it obviously won’t be your average twenty-odd page release.

Earlier this week, we learned that there’s truly no rest for the wicked as the cast and crew for the hit series The Flash decided to forego taking Independence Day off, and instead were hard at work shooting the season 4 premiere. And while we did hear that it’ll be titled “The Flash Reborn,” there was little else to go on.
Fortunately, a few more details have surfaced in the time since. According to Flash TV News, Vancouver production charts list none other than Glen Winter as director for that very episode. And knowing how he’s already made many contributions not only to this series, but to pretty much every other major DC superhero show The CW has produced from Smallville and onward, we’re willing to say that the Scarlet Speedster is in good hands.
As for the episode to follow, that’ll see Alexandra La Roche getting behind the lens.

As much as I personally love Arrow, even I had to admit that a few missteps were taken with season 4, just as some of the cast and crew have. That said, it was all the more satisfying to see the daddy of The CW’s shared DC TV universe return to form this year, effectively serving up its best effort since season 2.
Aside from Stephen Amell continuing to be an all-around badass each week, Team Arrow gained some new recruits such as Mr. Terrific, Wild Dog and even a new Black Canary, helping to keep the series feeling fresh. Not only that, but Prometheus made for the best big bad the show’s seen since Deathstroke (who also made his return late in the game), and may have very well been the deadliest, most calculating threat Oliver Queen has encountered to date.
With that, we’re excited to say that...

Are Oliver Queen's days as the Green Arrow numbered?
That was questioned on Arrow Season 5 Episode 16 when Oliver found out the truth about Prometheus. From the outset, it was evident this was going to be a big episode.
Talia al Ghul was in the present, so the stakes could not have been higher. Oliver turning to her for help was an exciting development, but I was pleasantly surprised Oliver had no idea Talia was Ra's al Ghul's daughter.
You killed his father and I helped him in the pursuit of vengeance because by then, you killed mine.

Somehow, I felt like he already knew that little nugget of truth. Talia's demeanor is completely different to the woman we got to meet in the flashbacks.

“We made the show, but you fans made it worthwhile.” Last night, Wgn America’s Salem came to an end after three seasons, and to thank the diehard fans of the show, series creators Adam Simon and Brannon Braga share their heartfelt thoughts in a new video made especially for the Heathens.
“The third season of “Salem” dawns with the triumph of the witches’ plan to remake the New World by bringing the devil to earth and making Salem his capital. But the devil is a liar, and instead of a New World free from murderous Puritan hypocrisy, his own plan will bring nothing but death and slavery with the ultimate aim of leading humanity to destroy itself. And there’s only one person on earth who can beat the devil — the very witch that birthed him, his mother, Mary Sibley. The only problem is—she’s dead. Or is she?...
