Exclusive: 20th Century Studios has acquired Naughty, an original feature pitch from Siena East (Clone High) conceived as a starring vehicle for Amber Midthunder (Prey), multiple sources tell Deadline.
Pic’s storyline is under wraps, though the project is described as a holiday action rom-com. East will pen the script, with Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson to produce through their Hutch Parker Entertainment banner, which has a first-look deal with 20th. Hutch Parker Entertainment’s John Scott Gibney will co-produce after bringing the material in, with Midthunder to serve as exec producer. A director has not yet been attached.
Midthunder was last in business with 20th Century Studios as the star of Prey, a sci-fi actioner taking the Predator franchise back to the early 18th century. The film directed by Dan Trachtenberg shattered records upon its August 2022 domestic debut on Hulu, securing the biggest premiere in the history of the platform.

Contenders ready!
Gladiators, the U.K version of American Gladiators and a show that became a staple of British Saturday night TV in the 1990s, is getting a reboot.
Confirming rumors that emerged last month, the BBC has revealed it is the new home for the spandex-friendly, muscle-flexing entertainment show, which originally ran on ITV from October 1992 to January 2000 (Sky had a short-lived revival that lasted just a year between 2008 and 2009).
The eleven-episode series — made by Hungry Bear Media (behind BBC game show Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel) and MGM Television U.K. (part of the Amazon-owned MGM, which owns American Gladiators) — is set to land on screens in 2023 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, with brand new games alongside some of the original classic challenges, culminating in the classic head-to-head race, The Eliminator.

Welcome to Emmy Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Emmy race — via Slack, of course. This week, we discuss Best Drama Actor and if we’re underestimating any of the bottom three contenders.
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! We’re back at it again and typing this week about Best Drama Actor. This has become the most competitive race of Emmys season, at least according to our odds. Fewer than a hundred votes separate Brian Cox and Lee Jung-jae in our combined odds with Jeremy Strong hanging tough in third place. This seems like it could be a repeat of the Screen Actors Guild Awards or Critics Choice Awards, where the two “Succession” actors likely split the vote just enough to get the “Squid Game” star a trophy. But I wonder if there’s a fourth option here...

NBCUniversal and the BBC are searching for the next wave of unscripted after striking a transatlantic partnership.
The U.S. media group, which operates broadcast network NBC, a slew of cable networks and streamer Peacock, and the British public broadcaster have teamed up to find unscripted shows that can work both in the States and UK.
The pair will hunt for shows produced by British producers across unscripted genres and will look to co-commission pilots or develop projects with series potential.
They have agreed terms for producers, based on the BBC’s existing terms, which will be a boon for producers as the BBC has much more favorable terms that U.S. networks. Diversity will also be a key part of the decision-making process.
NBC has also remade a number of BBC formats including The Wheel, The Weakest Link and Dragon’s Den, while the BBC has remade NBC’s The Wall.
