It was back to basics at this year’s MIPCOM, the world’s leading television market, which wrapped in Cannes this week, with buyers and sellers alike, still reeling from the 2023 Hollywood strikes and a sluggish advertising market, embracing a more conservative approach. The message was clear: the era of high-risk, big-budget productions is giving way to more practical, proven formats, both in scripted and non-scripted programming.
“People are looking for the tried and true,” noted Lisa Kramer, president of international content licensing for Paramount Global Content Distribution, which found eager buyers for their proudly mainstream procedural line-up, which includes the Kathy Bates Matlock reboot, the Elementry-esque medical detective series Watson and two spin-offs of its world-conquering NCIS franchise: the Euro-set NCIS: Tony & Ziva and the prequel series Origins.

The Young and The Restless spoilers and updates tease Camryn Grimes, who plays Mariah Copeland, goes from playing a creepy storyline there to a creepier one in a new horror film. She has landed a part in an upcoming film titled The Deceived, which is currently slated for release later this year.
The Young And The Restless – Interesting Parallels
The description of the new film shares interesting parallels with the storyline on Y & R that Mariah is closely involved in, her mother Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) spiraling.
In that storyline, Sharon has gone off her bipolar meds and is being deceived by a hallucination of Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby).
“The Deceived” is an intriguing new film crafted by the imaginative Aash Aaron, who takes on both directing and writing duties, with production led by Tim Wall.

“NCIS” favorite Pauley Perrette recently told Hello magazine that she has no intention of returning to acting. Her last major screen credit was the starring role of the CBS sitcom “Broke,” which ran for only one season and 13 episodes in 2020. Perrette announced her retirement shortly thereafter, and now she said she will “never return” to the screen.
“I’m not ungrateful for the benefits that it gave to me,” Perrette said. “But I’m a different person now and I want to be here for it – the good and the bad and the painful. I want to be me all the time, and it takes a good amount of courage for me to say that to myself but it’s authentically how I feel.”

NCIS: Hawaii Season 3 is now on DVD, so is it worth getting the final year for the spinoff?
Every TV season, there’s one cancellation that elicits a huge backlash and outrage from fans. In 2024, that was easily NCIS: Hawaii, as few could believe CBS canceled the series after three seasons.
Canceling any spinoff of the CBS franchise would be jarring. However, ending NCIS: Hawaii after only three years made no sense. The series was still doing well in the ratings, and the producers were blindsided as they had ended the year on a cliffhanger that was meant to set up a bigger season 4. It was more frustrating given the season had been delayed by the 2023 Hollywood strikes so not even a full year.
Now, the entire season is on DVD, so is it worth getting for fans?

It seems like 2024 is the year for NCIS fans, with several new series spinoffs to add to the roster.
NCIS loyalists may feel lost without original spinoffs NCIS: LA, which aired for 14 seasons, and NCIS: New Orleans, which was canceled in 2021 after seven seasons.
But we’re thrilled to see long-time agent Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) share the screen with his Hawaiian co-stars in the canceled spinoff NCIS: Hawai’i. And even better news is the new series spinoffs, NCIS: Syndey — renewed for Season 2 — and NCIS: Origins.
(Courtesy of CBS)
We’ll also enjoy the continuation of the love story between Dinozzo and David in NCIS: Tony and Ziva later in 2024-2025.
Here’s everything we know about the upcoming prequel, NCIS: Origins.
What is NCIS: Origins?
NCIS: Origins is a series that takes place in the 90s and follows Leroy Jethro Gibbs as he starts out as a rookie NCIS agent at Camp Pendelton.

CBS is rolling out a new NCIS spin-off this fall.
NCIS: Origins will follow a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs and tell new stories about the character made famous by Mark Harmon.
NCIS: Origins is set in 1991, years before the events shown on NCIS.
On the new show, a different actor plays Gibbs, which may frustrate some die-hard NCIS fans who feel there is only one Gibbs.
Some fans also believed the job should have gone to Mark Harmon’s son, Sean Harmon. The younger Harmon guest-starred on NCIS as a young Gibbs in flashback episodes.
A younger Mike Franks (played by Kyle Schmid) is also ready to help the show thrive.
Will NCIS fans tune in to watch more stories about Gibbs and Franks? We will soon find out!
Who plays Young Gibbs on the NCIS: Origins cast?
Actor Austin Stowell has been tasked with playing the younger version of Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

NCIS Los Angeles turned out to be as successful of a television show as the original series that inspired it. Its longevity came as a pleasant surprise for its lead star LL Cool J, who underestimated the commitment needed for the series.

Fans saw a different side of the hip hop veteran when he played federal agent Sam Hanna on NCIS Los Angeles. Starring in television wasn’t new for LL. In addition to his flourishing film career, the rapper had a taste of the small screen when he starred in the shortlived In the House. The mid 90s sitcom saw LL Cool J playing a former football player entangled in the lives of several wacky and colorful characters. Although the show displayed the rapper’s comedic chops, it only lasted for a couple of seasons.

LL Cool J is opening up about learning how to balance his acting career with his passion for music.

While LL Cool J went on to star in dozens of TV shows and movies, including Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, In the House, Any Given Sunday and long-running NCIS: Los Angeles, he also struggled to find time to work on his music, even taking an 11-year musical hiatus following the release of his 2013 Authentic album.

NCIS spawned one of many spin-offs when it inspired the creation of NCIS Los Angeles. But Michael Weatherly initially felt it was a bad idea to overlap with the second series.

NCIS had a successful experiment with spin-offs that started with NCIS Los Angeles. As its title implies, Los Angeles followed a group of federal agents hunting down dangerous criminals in the city. Starring LL Cool J and Chris O’Donnell, the show was a success from the start. Its debut episode was the second most watched show at the time, only behind NCIS‘ season seven premiere.
Although he seemed excited about the prospect of an NCIS spin-off, Weatherly felt it was a bad idea for Tony Dinozzo to crossover with the other show. He believed he worked best alongside his familiar crew.

Veteran character actor Gabriel Olds was arrested in Los Angeles on Wednesday and has been charged with seven felony sexual assault charges, according to the LAPD. The 52-year-old actor who played Pat Robertson in the Jessica Chastain starrer “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” was taken into custody by West Bureau investigators around 9:40 a.m. near the area of Norway Lane and Norman Place in Brentwood. Olds is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations-West Bureau’s Special Assault Section detectives say they are now seeking additional victims and witnesses in a series of sexual assaults in the Los Angeles area that they believe may be tied to Olds, a Yale University alum and son of Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Sharon Olds.
On January 19, 2023, a 41-year-old woman told police that Olds raped her at her home in Los Angeles. Two additional adult victims subsequently came forward and...

This post contains minor spoilers for "Deadpool & Wolverine."
It was crystal clear from the first marketing materials for "Deadpool & Wolverine" that this movie, much like the rest of Phase 4 and 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was going to be a trip through the multiverse. What it ended up being was a big, kind of sweet goodbye to Fox's Marvel universe. That meant bringing back lots of characters from Marvel movies of old. Juggernaut, a fan-favorite from the "X-Men" universe, does indeed appear. Yet, for the third time, it's a different actor under the helmet, something Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool even makes a joke about at one point. The actor in question? Aaron W. Reed, someone who previously appeared in a different Reynolds blockbuster.

Despite Jake Webber being accepted into a prestigious art school in Spain, as discussed in recent episodes of “General Hospital,” the character’s portrayer, Hudson West, is not going anywhere.
According to sources, West remains part of the show’s recurring cast even though the character appears set to leave Port Charles.
During the Monday, July 15 episode, Jake’s father, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), was caught trying to leave money under the front door of Jake’s home where he lives with his mother, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), which would help cover tuition.
Following a conversation with Elizabeth, Jason was invited into the home to discuss the matter further with their son directly, where Jason made it clear that his offer came with no strings attached, particularly as Jason had been an absent parent during much of Jake’s young life.
After agreeing to take the money, the two shook hands and embraced each other.

We have some great news about NCIS.
CBS has revealed when new episodes of the hit drama will debut this fall.
The bad news is that we are still months away from the season premiere, but the good news is that we can mark it on our calendars.
The show is coming off an abbreviated season due to the Hollywood strikes.
When the writers and then SAG went on strike, it shut down production of all scripted shows.
After the strikes ended, there was only time to film and air 10 new NCIS episodes for Season 21.
When is the NCIS Season 22 premiere?
The NCIS return date is Monday, October 14.
NCIS Season 22 debuts at 8/7c that Monday evening. It’s a shift from the 9/8c time slot episodes aired this past spring.

The NCIS: Hawai’i fans still aren’t giving up.
Despite the show getting canceled midway through its third season, the fans want more.
As the season finale approached, the fans made a concerted effort to create online petitions and share their love of the show on social media.
Unfortunately, it didn’t work then, and CBS replaced NCIS: Hawai’i with NCIS: Origins in the same time slot.
NCIS: Origins is a new show set in 1991 that shows the early days of Leroy Jethro Gibbs and Mike Franks on the job.
But these NCIS: Hawai’i fans aren’t giving up yet.

On Sunday, July 7, #SaveNCISHawaii was trending again on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Fans have shared notes, Gifs, images, and videos about their beloved show.
It’s amazing how dedicated this fan base has remained despite the road bumps they have experienced.

Even though NCIS has been on the air for more than two decades, fans still cannot get enough of the iconic procedural and all of its offshoots. The show was created back in 2003 and has since launched 4 separate spin-offs with 2 more on the way in 2025. However, not all of them are as popular as the others.
Of course, many people have high hopes for NCIS: Origins and NCIS: Tony & Ziva, but before these two shows arrive on our screens, you can always revisit older shows. Here are all of them, ranked by audience score on Rotten Tomatoes from not worth your time to absolute gems.

NCIS: Hawai’i’s sudden cancellation earlier this year caused a huge fuss, leaving the show’s fans no other choice but to call CBS out for ditching one of its most successful series. But several months later, the network’s weird decision actually appears to be a blessing in disguise.
Don’t get me wrong, NCIS: Hawai’i’s ending with a major cliffhanger that will never be explained is still a shame that the franchise’s lovers will be reminding CBS of for months or even years to come. However, the scrapped show now looks like one of the last steps towards ending NCIS’ obsolete era which is soon to be followed by a radically new one.
Canceled after only 3 seasons, NCIS: Hawai’i has officially joined the list of all the spinoffs that NCIS created and then abandoned for some reason.

When it comes to police procedurals, whether on the ground or in the courtroom, audiences can usually count on the series staying on for much longer than most other genres.
However, NCIS seems to be an immortal juggernaut that is only gaining more steam with every season it earns and every spinoff it gains, primarily due to fans who can't get enough of its stories and characters.
And, sure, the series has had its fair share of cast and character shake-ups, but that is to be expected after over two decades of a successful broadcast run.
The most recent season, in particular, left viewers at the edge of their seats foaming at the mouth for more, but don't worry because TV Fanatic has you covered with everything we know so far about NCIS Season 22!

The NCIS franchise is seemingly heading into a whole new era as it’s about to welcome a time-traveling spinoff to its collection. Set to get a release date sometime later this year, NCIS: Origins will quite literally come back to its origins taking viewers back in time and bringing them into the 1990s when young Leroy Jethro Gibbs was starting his long way as an NCIS Special Agent.
However, even with the franchise’s desire to explore its original characters’ past life before the series picked their storylines up, the NCIS universe now isn’t even close to its real roots, and exploring them as well may come as a good idea for other future spinoffs.
Whether it sounds too complicated or not, the truth is that NCIS: Origins is set to arrive as part of NCIS, but the latter actually originated from another popular show. The long-standing police...

Paramount’s upcoming action-packed show “NCIS: Tony & Ziva” will have issues of trust at its core, stars Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo said at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival, where the “NCIS” franchise is celebrating reaching 1,000 episodes.
The series, set to stream on Paramount+, focuses on their “NCIS” characters, Tony Dinozzo and Ziva David, after they have left the agency, and are bringing up their daughter, Tali, in Paris. When Tony’s security company is attacked, they must go on the run across Europe, try to figure out who is after them and maybe even learn to trust each other again so that they can finally have their unconventional happily ever after.
In “NCIS,” Ziva was thought to have died, and Tony left the team to go raise Tali. Years later, Ziva was discovered alive. How did that affect her relationship with Tony and Tali?

It’s been weeks since NCIS: Hawai’i was brutally scrapped by CBS, leaving the fan-favorite show with a revolting big cliffhanger which the series’ lovers still can’t get over, though there’s another NCIS spinoff that doesn’t let its fans sleep tight at night.
Before NCIS: Hawai’i repeated its ugly fate, NCIS: Los Angeles was also unfairly abandoned by the network, yet the show lasted much longer and came to the definite end after 14 seasons.
As it turns out now, another major similarity between NCIS: Hawai’i and NCIS: Los Angeles is that fans believe the franchise’s other series to be guilty of both shows’ canceled future.
A few months ago, a Reddit user started a new thread posting their opinion on NCIS: Sydney, the most recent installment of the long-standing franchise, launched in 2023.

Weeks after CBS dropped an official announcement about letting NCIS: Hawai’i go with no decent ending, one of the network’s most successful shows is still making headlines proving that it won’t be forgotten that easily for quite some time in the upcoming months.
Having already set high standards for other NCIS spinoffs, NCIS: Hawai’i was the franchise’s pioneer in many aspects, and now it has got yet another big, but still disheartening achievement.
Despite all the fuss concerning the show’s cancellation and the season 3 finale’s major cliffhanger, NCIS: Hawai’i proved itself by becoming CBS’ most popular scrapped series while also setting a record for NCIS’ franchise as its shortest spinoff with 54 episodes only.
The police procedural drama’s other deriving series like NCIS: Los Angeles or NCIS: New Orleans were also ditched at some point, though they both surely lived a much longer life coming...

NCIS’ long-standing franchise has recently been keeping busy taking a huge step forward and introducing two brand new spinoffs that this time will finally have nothing to do with the location that one team or another is based in.
The original show’s universe was following quite the same pattern back in the day, launching spinoffs based on a specific place where NCIS’ teams were operating, and titles like NCIS: New Orleans, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: Hawai’i and NCIS: Sydney do speak the volumes.
However, it now seems like the franchise had a big change in mind considering another spinoff a long time ago, but the show eventually never made it to TV screens.
One of NCIS’ spinoffs titled NCIS: Los Angeles had its run from 2009 until 2023 and once even subtly introduced an idea for the spinoff’s spinoff that not many viewers may have noticed.

It’s been a couple of months since NCIS: Hawai’i was abruptly canceled for no solid reason, but all the talks about the unfortunate series have never quietened down ever since.
Being a CBS fan-favorite show that never had a single problem with its ratings, NCIS: Hawai’i was not only unfairly scrapped by the network, but also deprived of a good ending and instead got nothing but a major cliffhanger, leaving fans forever wonder what it would bring to the next never-happening season.
While some of the most devoted fans still keep trying to bring their beloved show back to the screen by calling CBS out on social media and starting a whole campaign with a petition to sign, NCIS: Hawai’i is likely to end up just like this with low chances to ever be revived, and the show’s fate seems even more heartbreaking than the one of another NCIS ditched spinoff.

Jessica Knight’s future in NCIS after the season 21 ending is now the biggest mystery for the show’s fans as the latest installment proved that the character was down for a big job opportunity outside of the McRt.
Despite making it clear that Jessica will no longer stay with her team once her new job duties take her across the country, her departure hasn’t yet been confirmed, as well as Jessica’s possible return as a guest star in some future episodes.
However obscure it all is for Jessica Knight’s further storyline, there seems to be enough challenges for her position at the McRt. The long list of candidates who may take over Knight’s duties doesn’t really stop at the original show’s characters, but also considers some of those who have been out of sight for quite some time now.

Right now, it feels like NCIS and a couple of its spin-offs are on everyone's mind. The show, which passed the two-decade milestone, not only hasn't tired its viewers out, it's found two new offshoots to expand its universe and continue its battle with NBC's Law & Order for the longest-running procedural.
Of course, viewers' attention is now divided between NCIS: Origins, which will tell the origin story of Agent Gibbs, previously played by Mark Harmon, and NCIS: Tony & Ziva, which will follow the lives of two former agents after they escape to Europe.
However, the most loyal fans still remember how the franchise lost what could have been its best spin-off 11 years ago.
Why Was NCIS: Red Canceled?
Originally, NCIS: Red was not supposed to be a spin-off of the original NCIS series, but of NCIS: Los Angeles. Since NCIS has always been keen on creating more location-based...

Everybody knows that NCIS is one of the biggest TV franchises there is, but what if we tell you that there are even more shows that share the same universe with the series than those which have NCIS in their names.
Sounds intriguing? Then check out our list and the advice on how to watch all the shows in correct order.
10. Jag
Everything started with Jag. It actually gave the start to the whole franchise, and it surprises us that not so many fans actually knew about it. The two episodes that made it all happen were Ice Queen and Meltdown, both from season 8. In these episodes the many NCIS characters were introduced, like Jethro Gibbs, Anthony Dinozzo and others. After that, when NCIS premiered, it featured many Jag characters as well.
So if you never heard of the show but consider yourself a NCIS fan, it’s time to binge Jag right now.

With all the NCIS franchise’s shows being over for a while until new seasons for some of them come later this year, the biggest problem to resolve isn’t even NCIS: Hawai’i’s cliffhanger that will probably never get its explanation, but rather Jessica Knight’s position.
In NCIS season 21 finale, the character left no doubts that she’s down for the big changes coming in her way after she accepted a big promotion. While it’s still uncertain whether she will in fact leave the entire show or will show up every so often as a guest star, what comes clear is that Knight’s position will soon become vacant for another character to take over, and, it’s fair to say, there’s already a long list of worthy candidates.
Though every single one of them has their own merits that would help them earn Jessica's position in the team,...

There will be no second season for High School. Amazon Freevee has canceled the coming-of-age drama based on Tegan and Sara Quin’s bestselling memoir after one season, Deadline has confirmed.
The cancellation is not a big surprise. The series’ last aired its first and only 8-episode season in October 2022.
Produced by Amazon Studios and Plan B Entertainment, High School is a story about finding your own identity—a journey made even more complicated when you have a twin whose own struggle and self-discovery so closely mimic your own. Told through a backdrop of ‘90s grunge and rave culture, the series weaved between parallel and discordant memories of twin sisters growing up down the hall from one another.
The series starred TikTok creators Railey and Seazynn Gilliland in their TV debut as the high school versions of Tegan and Sara, respectively. Special guest stars Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother...
