At long last, Eddie Murphy is reprising his role as street-smart cop Axel Foley in the fourth instalment of the Beverly Hills Cop franchise, which is set to hit Netflix this summer. But, it isn’t easy being a middle aged action star. It’s been nearly thirty years since we last saw Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley, and in a recent interview with People Magazine he admitted that the shoot was a “rough one”.“I did Axel Foley when I was in my 20s. I am not in my 20s anymore,” he said. At any rate, Murphy won’t be the only aged actor from the original to show up, with many of the classic Beverly Hills Cop cast members are set to join him in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley. Here’s everything we know about Beverly Hills Cop 4!

Two-time Oscar winner Emma Stone and actor Ryan Gosling have starred together in three films to date and have been lauded for their on-screen chemistry. While they began with the romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love, the pairing worked wonders in the musical romance La La Land, which won Stone her first Oscar for Best Actress.
The two also had many memorable scenes in the Steve Carrell starrer Crazy, Stupid, Love, where they played a budding couple. According to co-director Glenn Ficarra, the makers went with Emma Stone because she was the only one who was not intimidated by Gosling’s presence during the audition.

The 16 Best Ryan Gosling Movies, from ‘The Fall Guy’ and ‘Drive’ to ‘Barbie’ and ‘Blade Runner 2049’
[Editor’s note: this list was originally published in July 2023, and has since been updated.]
Ryan Gosling has that Ken-ergy. He’s Ken out of Ken. He’s Kendlessly Kentertaining. He’s the Kend all, be all. He’s the Kenvy of other actors. He’s impossible to not Kenjoy. He’s more, much more, than Kenough.
Gosling has had a long, fruitful career, but it’s safe to say that he’s never committed to a role as hard as he’s committed to the bit that was the “Barbie” press tour. Every interview and soundbite the Canadian actor gave in the publicity run for Greta Gerwig’s take on the iconic Mattel toy line has launched meme after meme, as he’s spoken about the importance of telling the tragic story of Barbie’s beau Ken. It’s a commitment that’s only seconded by his performance in the film itself, where he goes for broke with a hilarious, oblivious, and often sweet...

As a film star, Ryan Gosling is the recipient of multiple titles, such as Gangster Squad and Drive. Even so, the actor, 43, has not yet made an appearance in the superhero genre, despite having received a few role offers from Marvel and DC Studios.
Have you ever been astounded by the fortunate decisions that Hollywood’s best actors make to shape their careers? Consider the Barbie star, a strategic mastermind, when it comes to career-defining decisions. The actor made an especially wise decision when he graciously stepped aside from donning the character of Green Lantern in Martin Campbell’s 2011 flick.

10. Gangster Squad Kicking off our list with a bang, or rather, a Tommy gun spray, ‘Gangster Squad’ might not be high art, but Brolin’s no-nonsense performance is a solid reason to watch. The film received mixed reviews and grossed $105 million worldwide, which isn’t too shabby for a flick that was delayed due to real-world events. And let’s face it, Brolin in a fedora and a suit is worth the price of admission alone. The film industry veteran will begin on April 1 and report to Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer. Stuber, who announced his exit last month and that he would step down in March, was with the streamer seven years.
“Dan’s experience as both an executive and a producer is marked by a consistent ability to draw in exceptional filmmakers,” content chief Bela Bajaria said in a statement. “But what really got my attention was his creation of Rideback, a dynamic community for filmmakers, fostering collaborative and creative environments. One cannot understate the impact Martin Brest's crime comedy "Beverly Hills Cop" had on popular culture when it was released in 1984. Between "Cop," the 1983 comedy "Trading Places," and Walter Hill's 1982 buddy film "48 Hrs.," Eddie Murphy was suddenly one of the largest and most striking movie stars in the world. His glib delivery and willingness to be crass rattled cinemas to an astonishing degree, and audiences began flocking to see Murphy in just about anything. Brest's film was made for a mere $13 million and would rack up about $316 million worldwide. It was also nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards.
In the film, Murphy played Axel Foley, a Detroit-based detective who says he's going on vacation to Beverly Hills, but who is secretly investigating the death of a friend, unbeknownst to his bosses. The film involves a lot of Murphy's bafflement at the posh, unusual, upscale...

Claws-out high school drama has inspired some pretty memorable movies. Youthful touchstones like Heathers, Cruel Intentions, and Mean Girls take the intensity of hormones and the cruelty of high school students, and mix them with snappy, era-appropriate dialogue and up-and-coming stars. It’s a potent cocktail that when mixed just right yields delicious results. Netflix is looking to follow that template with their new high school revenge comedy Do Revenge, directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the co-writer of Thor: Love and Thunder who previously helmed Netflix’s Someone Great and created MTV’s Sweet/Vicious.
Will Do Revenge become the 2020s defacto teens-behaving-badly comedy? Only time will tell, but Do Revenge’s cast is enticing enough to suggest that the alchemy may be right for another mean girl magnum opus. Not sure where you’ve seen some of these fresh-faced stars before? Read below to find out.

Tom Holland has proven a charming actor, capable of poignancy, humor, and super-heroic action. Stretching beyond his work as Spider-Man, he detoured into an adaptation of the Uncharted video game, coming off more as a cross between Indiana Jones and James Bond than an original character, which is not at all his fault. He is an appealing performer and you want to root for him to succeed.
The PS3 game this is based on works fine as a video game and its sequels but the simplified storytelling conventions for a video game need to be expanded and evolved for filmed entertainment. Here, screenwriters Rafe Lee Judkins, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway let the fine cast and their audience down.

Based on the popular videogame franchise, Uncharted gives Tom Holland another role as a franchise protagonist. Unlike his turn as one of several Spider-men, however, this is more swing and miss than anything else. Nathan Drake has starred in ten games on seven platforms, or at least four games with various ports, expansions, and collections. Selling more than 13 million copies, it's a commercial success, and a critical one too. This is unlikely to be the case for the film.

The controversial and contentious experiment where Warner Bros. has debuted its 2021 slate of feature films on HBO Max will hit a crescendo in October thanks to the releases of “The Many Saints of Newark” and “Dune” on the streaming platform. Both “Many Saints” producer and co-writer David Chase and “Dune” filmmaker Denis Villeneuve have criticized the corporate decision to release films day-and-date in theaters and via HBO Max, but despite the outcry, the two highly anticipated features lead a massive lineup of acclaimed library movie titles and Emmy Award-winning original series coming to the network in October 2021. Highlights include:
“Curb Your Enthusiasm” (October): Larry David’s Emmy Award-winning series returns for its 11th season in October and will tackle the coronavirus pandemic in a way that feels organic to the show and its protagonist. “We figured out a way that we are definitely living in a reality where the pandemic has happened,...

We hold this truth to be self-evident, that Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling have undeniable onscreen chemistry. From La La Land to Gangster Squad, the longtime co-stars light up every screen they're on. But for the 10-year anniversary of their crazy big hit, writer Dan Fogelman revealed a little secret about how they pulled off one of their most romantic moments. "Ten years. Damn," Dan tweeted on July 29. "My favorite scene is Gosling and Emma falling in love in bed. All improvised," he said, likely referring to one scene in which their characters Jacob and Hannah cozy up under the covers and laugh...

David Fincher’s “The Social Network” opened 10 years ago this month, making instant stars out of cast members Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Rooney Mara, and Armie Hammer. The Oscar-winning Facebook drama allowed each actor to break through in a big way, and it might have done the same for actor Josh Pence had moviegoers gotten to see his face. Hammer appears in “The Social Network” as Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, but, on set, Hammer only played one twin. Pence was cast as the other twin, with Fincher using visual effects to put Hammer’s face onto Pence’s body. In a new interview with HuffPo, Pence looks back at his most iconic role that most people don’t realize is him.
“It was really motion capture acting in a way, that’s how we would almost categorize it now,” Pence said. “But at the time that was still, ‘What is this really?...

“Venom” director Ruben Fleischer will likely direct “Uncharted,” the long-gestating, oft-delayed adaptation of the popular video game of the same name.
There’s no deal in place and Fleischer is said to be atop a list of other candidates being considered by Sony Pictures, but insiders say the job is his if he wants it. “Uncharted” is set to star Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg.
The film has had a devil of a time keeping filmmakers. Six directors have previously been tapped for the project before taking the exit ramp — a collection of auteurs that includes the likes of David O. Russell, “Limitless'” Neil Burger and “A Night at the Museum’s” Shawn Levy. “Bumblebee’s” Travis Knight was the most recent director attached, but he left when production needed to be pushed back because of Holland’s Spider-Man schedule.

Recapturing the personality of a successful film for its follow-up can be a challenging task for a filmmaker, given the story told, characters involved and especially the time passed between installments. But even after 10 years, “Zombieland: Double Tap” director Ruben Fleischer knew exactly what to focus on to ensure that his sequel lived up to its 2009 predecessor.
“We really tried to carry the story forward as if we were picking up with them where we last left off,” Fleischer tells Variety. “But what I love about the first movie is the chemistry between the characters — that sense of family.”“Zombieland” was Fleischer’s first feature film, a low-budget, runaway success that launched his eclectic, thriving career. The members of that makeshift family he assembled on screen — including Abigail Breslin, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson and Jesse Eisenberg — have since become a hallmark and good luck charm for his work. The zombies have evolved in “Zombieland: Double Tap”; the comedy not so much. But that’s Ok, because Ruben Fleischer’s 2009 breakout hit — which gobbled up $75.6 million in a genre fast approaching its pop-culture saturation point — was already a few steps ahead of the curve: Its central quartet actually knew they were living in a walking-dead movie and were therefore armed to defend themselves against a breed of modern horror baddies to which previous film characters had been frustratingly slow to adapt.
Even zom-com classic “Shaun of the Dead” recycled the drawn-out routine where characters take a long time to catch on to the fact that an infected loved one is gradually transforming into a flesh-eater, too. “Zombieland,” by contrast, was blessedly meta — and downright irreverent about it — taking place it a world where the idea of zombies was already widespread, giving its ensemble a Darwinian advantage for the termination of the species.

Fox has picked up Deputy, a police drama starring Stephen Dorff, developed by Aquaman’s Will Beall and Suicide Squad’s David Ayer.
Deputy, an upcoming Fox TV police drama, is a modern-day Western offering that might evoke memories of the celebrated FX series, Justified. The police drama stars Stephen Dorff as an old-fashioned copper who’s been appointed to lead of one of the world’s largest constabulary organizations, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department.
The drama, which hails at eOne and Fox Entertainment, arrives with some serious creative personnel, notably Will Beall, who wrote the screenplay to the 2018 smash hit, Aquaman, 2013’s Gangster Squad, as well as TV’s Castle and Training Day. Additionally, David Ayer steps in as director for the pilot, bringing experience from films like Suicide Squad, Fury and Bright. Beall and Ayer will also serve as executive producers, joined in that capacity by Chris Long.

Over the course of the past decade, Emma Stone has gone from everyone's favorite girl-next-door comedienne to one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. It probably comes as no surprise, then, that Stone's 2019 net worth has increased significantly since she first began appearing on our screens. But just how much has her career earned her so far? You might be surprised at the amount - and what her highest-paid project has been.
According to reports, Stone's net worth currently sits at approximately $28 million. Her earnings began with smaller roles in the mid-2000s before she landed her first major film role in the comedy Superbad. Her next several roles were in similarly quirky comedies: The House Bunny, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, and Zombieland - none of which had high budgets or massive box office earnings.

Aquaman isn’t like the other DC Comics superheroes, so it seems only right that his big-screen solo show should have a personality all its own — which, in the hands of “Furious 7” director James Wan, it does. Gone is the Aryan-looking Atlantean in green-and-orange spandex, replaced with a bare-chested Hawaiian super-stud with long, shaggy surfer hair and all-over tribal tattoos. After being unveiled to the DC Comics Extended Universe as the scales of “Justice League” last year, Aquaman gets his own adventure, and it’s kind of a shock that it doesn’t suck, but only if you’re willing to sit through two hours of waterlogged world-building before the movie finally takes off.
Remember, just a decade or so ago, the very idea of a stand-alone “Aquaman” outing was preposterous enough to sustain a running joke in HBO’s “Entourage” series, which poked fun at the notion that...

Fox has given a script commitment with significant penalty to Deputy, an hourlong police procedural from Bright helmer David Ayer, Gangster Squad writer Will Beall and eOne, where Ayer and Chris Long’s Cedar Park Entertainment is under an overall deal.
Written by Beall with Ayer set to direct, Deputy centers on Deputy Bill Hollister, a career lawman who’s very comfortable kicking down doors and utterly lost in a staff meeting. But when the La County Sheriff drops dead, Bill becomes acting sheriff of Los Angeles County, in charge of 10,000 sworn deputies policing a modern Wild West. The ensemble procedural has the full cooperation of the La Sheriff’s Department.
Beall executive produces with Ayer and Long via their Cedar Park. Like all new projects from indie studios this pitch season, eOne’s Deputy will be a co-production with Fox.

It’s hard to know what to make of Venom, Sony’s latest mismanaged, perpetually misguided and mesmerizingly maniacal attempt to latch onto their share of the Spider-Man rights with iron-handled claws — practically as if the livelihood of their nose-diving studio depended upon it (which it very well might). Even without everyone’s friendly neighborhood teen superhero swinging around to save the day, Sony produces an odd, unkempt and overall mishandled feature film devoted to Todd McFarlane and David Michelinie’s comic book creation, one that ties into a knotted ball of confused tones, awkward story beats, ludicrous creative...
