When Thom gets kicked out of his apartment, he has a folder in his hand, then he follows the owner down the stairs and his hand is empty. After the shot changes and he is at the end of the staircase the folder reappears in his hands.
During the road trip, the St. Louis Arch is shown indicating they were traveling through St. Louis. A few scenes later, they begin earning money working as cab drivers. An airport sign said Rickenbacker Airport. This is in Columbus, Ohio which would have been traveled through several hours before St. Louis.
Midway through the movie, Claire looses her purse. This is a key plot point. A good view of the purse prior to loss is at 16:12 minutes into the movie. Towards the end of the move as Claire and her husband are saying goodbye (1:21:17 in the movie) the same purse reappears.
At Claires dads house, Eric hands Thom a check for payment of the cab ride from NY to CA. The New York address listed on the check has a California zip code.
At approximately 12 minutes into the movie, they travel through a tunnel into New Jersey. A discussion begins where Thom asks Claire where she wants to go. During the argument, Thom references a fare difference in Newark and he cannot drive out of New Brunswick. They show an I-70 sign, then back to Thom's facial reaction during the scene. I-70 is not close to the area they would have been driving.
Thom and Claire are shown at outlet stores in Jeffersonville, Ohio during their trip. The film depicts the duo as traveling along Interstate 70 from New York to Missouri, and Claire points to the outlets while passing through Ohio and asks Thom to stop there. The outlets are adjacent to Interstate 71 - not Interstate 70. Jeffersonville is about 40 miles away from Interstate 70, and not actually near where the duo would have been traveling while going through Ohio.
