Today fans of Tom Cruise got some good news. Paramount Pictures has announced that principal photography has begun for the sequel to the 2012 action film, Jack Reacher. Check out all the details here.

Actor/Producer/Stunt Extraordinaire Tom Cruise is back at it again. Paramount Pictures, Skydance Media, and Tom Cruise have elected to go the franchise route with Jack Reacher, the 2012 action film based on the Lee Child's book called "One Shot, which itself is part of a series of Jack Reacher novels. The new film will be titled Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and will be based on the 18th book in Childs' Jack Reacher series titled "Never Go Back". The new film is set to release on October 21, 2016, and will be directed by Edward Zwick. The film will be produced by Tom Cruise himself in addition to Don Granger, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Christopher McQuerrie.

Forget Ant-Man, many would say that Agent Carter has been the surprise Marvel hit of the year. Starring Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter – Captain America’s WW2-era lost love/kickass secret agent in her own right – the show combined superhero shenanigans and good old-fashioned spy action and went down a treat with critics and fans alike. Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions have locked down an October 21st 2016 release date for the upcoming sequel to 2012's "Jack Reacher," the adaptation of the novel "One Shot" from Lee Child's popular Jack Reacher book series.

Ed Zwick is directing the Tom Cruise-led sequel which begins shooting in November and is based on the novel "Never Go Back". Paramount balked on the idea of a sequel initially, but as people have discovered the film in ancillary markets it has become a quite profitable little movie for them.

At the same time, Paramount has also confirmed that the title of Richard Linklater's next film is set to be "Everybody Wants Some" and has confirmed that it's still set for an April 15th 2016 release date.

Riding the box office success of the latest installment in the Mission Impossible series (read our review here), Cruise is set to start work on another sequel. S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill herself, actress Cobie Smulders, is reportedly in early talks to play the female lead role of Danika opposite Tom Cruise in the upcoming "Jack Reacher" sequel at Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions.

The first film was an adaptation of Lee Child's novel "One Shot," the tenth of around twenty novels so far which focus on the popular Jack Reacher character, a former major in the U.S. Military Police Corps who quit and now roams America taking odd jobs and investigating suspicious situations.

The new film is expected to be based on the eighteenth Reacher novel "Never Go Back" which came out in 2013. That story has Reacher returning to his old military base in Virginia where the female commanding officer has been arrested. He has also found himself being charged with assault and illegitimately fathering a child, though can't recall doing either.

In late 2012, the Tom Cruise-led film adaptation of Lee Child's Jack Reacher scored solid reviews and a soft $80 million domestic box-office along with a further $138 million overseas.

Christopher McQuarrie penned and directed that adaptation based on the tenth Reacher novel "One Shot," and it has subsequently had a strong life on disc, VOD and cable - so much so that a sequel based on the novel "Never Go Back" was greenlit.

One surprise though came in May when it was announced that McQuarrie was out and Cruise's "The Last Samurai" director Ed Zwick and writer Marshall Herskovitz would take over the follow-up from Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions. McQuarrie is remaining onboard though as executive producer.

Out doing promotion for "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation" which he penned and directed, McQuarrie revealed that he couldn't return to do the second "Jack Reacher" due to his commitments to 'Rogue Nation'.

This Friday, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation will be released. It’s the fifth film in the iconic franchise, but sadly stands as only the third film of its director Christopher McQuarrie in 15 years since he got behind the camera. That’s a real shame, because Christopher McQuarrie is Hollywood’s best-kept secret when he really should be their pride and joy.

Christopher McQuarrie was so damn hot in the mid-90s. He wrote the script for the classic The Usual Suspects and came home with an Oscar. He ended up using that clout to get his feature-directing debut made with the criminally underrated The Way of the Gun, released in 2000. Speaking at the Berlin press junket for the upcoming release of "Terminator Genisys," Skydance Productions CEO David Ellison and Cco Dana Goldberg have discussed with Collider some of the other projects on the company's slate including some fairly high profile sequels - namely "Top Gun" and "Jack Reacher" follow-ups.

In regards to "Top Gun 2," Justin Marks is currently writing the screenplay which will be very much about contemporary times and involve "drone technology and fifth generation fighters" along with exploring the end of an era of dogfighting and fighter pilots.

Ellison suggests Tom Cruise will reprise his role: "There is an amazing role for Maverick in the movie, and there is no 'Top Gun' without Maverick, and it is going to be Maverick playing Maverick."

Though it originally appeared that less-than-spectacular box office grosses for Jack Reacher had killed any chance of a franchise, Skydance eventually decided to push forward to adapt Lee Child’s Never Go Back as a sequel to the 2012 action-thriller. And recently, during a group conference held in honor of Terminator Genisys‘ upcoming release, Skydance CEO David Ellison and Cco Dana Goldberg revealed that they’re still hopeful about the prospect of Jack Reacher 2, with a loose plan to shoot the follow-up this fall.

Predictably, what it comes down to is the script. Edward Zwick (The Last Samurai) has been secured for the director’s chair, and Cruise is interested in coming back, but Richard Wenk’s first draft of the screenplay didn’t quite meet approval, so it’s in the process of being reworked.

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are getting the hero they've been clamouring for as The Punisher makes his return to screens in season two of Daredevil.

Frank Castle will be out to clean up Hell's Kitchen when The Walking Dead's Jon Bernthal takes on the coveted role as the ruthless and brutal street vigilante.

However, this is far from the first time that The Punisher has appeared in live action – and it might not even be his first appearance in Marvel's shared film universe.

Here’s some big news for Marvel fans – The Punisher is set to join the live action Marvel universe. Specifically, he will be appearing in Daredevil season 2, on Netflix.

The character was tantalisingly teased during the All Hail The King One Shot (some of his rogue's gallery could be seen in a fleeting shot), but now he will appear as a regular recurring character in Hell’s Kitchen.

Donning the skull T-shirt and shooting people will be Jon Bernthal, a familiar face to fans of The Walking Dead, in which he played Shane for the first two seasons. Additionally, he’s also had roles in The Wolf Of Wall Street and Fury in recent years.

For the uninitiated: The Punisher is a violent vigilante, and his real name is Frank Castle.

1. It’s actually...not bad! Or not that bad. You can decide for yourself whether you think it’s that good, but it’s definitely a lot better than it could -- or should -- be. Cloro (that translates to Chlorine in English) is a film that has admirable qualities but is ultimately a dull affair. There are moments that director Lamberto Sanfelice makes effective, but for the most part he spends the duration of the feature seemingly uninterested in his own material. Jenny (Sara Serraiocco) is a 17-year old synchronized swimmer who is forced to uproot her life and move to the mountains to take care of her little brother and father, who is recovering from a nervous breakdown of some sort. Here she waits until she can return to her synchronized swimming team.

Sara Serraiocco gives a great performance in the lead of Jenny, but she isn’t enough to redeem the film from being relatively forgettable. Her eyes are burrowed into her face, and she makes the audience search for...

The last time we saw Finnish director Jalmari Helander, he brought us the killer Santa Claus movie Rare Exports. Now, he's back with the equally over the top Big Game, which sees Air Force One shot down over the Finnish countryside, forcing the U.S. President (Samuel L. Jackson) to team up with a local teenager to survive the wilderness and the terrorists hunting him down. There's something undeniably 80's about this premise, and the below trailer promises a movie just outrageous enough that it just might work. Having already debuted at last year's Toronto International Film Festival, Big Game takes a bow in Finland on March 25th, before coming to our shores on May 8th. No U.S. release date has been given as of yet.

Lots going on in the Marvel Universe this week, or at least the perception that there is a lot going on, because some set visit interviews from Avengers: Age of Ultron solidified some rumored plot developments and a Lego set for the film does what Lego sets do: have us wondering if we’re being sold cool brick guys or being told about the progression of action scenes in the film.

One of the bigger surprises in this past summer's excellent "Guardians of the Galaxy," was the reveal of Thanos (played, in a bit of performance capture fun, by Josh Brolin), who had previously been hinted at in the mid-credits scene in "The Avengers." Clearly, the infamous villain, who at one point wiped out most life in the galaxy due to his ongoing courtship of a female personification of death, is going to have a huge impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the years ahead. Nor, probably, do you need reminding that it came about because of an exceptional Marvel One Shot based on Hayley Atwell’s character from Captain America:The First Avenger.

Did you know it’s going to air during the Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. mid-season break? Oh, you did? Damn.

Agent Carter will air in the states in January 2015. We don’t know who in the UK will pick it up, but we can be pretty sure it won’t be Channel 4.

Masters of Sex ties up its messy but powerful and somewhat daring second season with an episode that is all three of those adjectives. It may be a little rushed and features a rather uninspired structural device, centering the storylines on the lead-up to President John F. Kennedy’s inauguration. However, the plots arre fascinating, the revelations intriguing and the characters behaving in ways that seemed more down-to-earth than usual for the show. Mad Men will forever be the finer period drama, a show that creates connections that we only realize are attached as the episode ends, while Masters of Sex is a bit too obvious in how its subplots mirror each other. However, the top-notch acting continues to impress and the wrap-ups to many of this season’s varying stories were consistently surprising.

Fans of Marvel will have been excitedly anticipating the Agent Carter TV series for a while now.

As we edge closer to seeing the One Shot-adaptation in all its televised glory, the core cast of the show is seemingly almost complete.

We’ve heard of a new face confirmed to join proceedings this morning – Shea Whigham. His role has been described as the male lead, but whether this means he will be a colleague, enemy or love interest (or all three) to Peggy Carter remains to be seen.

Whigham should be recognisable to lots of folk out there, seeing as he held the long-term role of Eli in Boardwalk Empire, as well as popping up recurringly in True Detective and appearing on the big screen in Non-Stop, The Wolf Of Wall Street...

The first official WWE 2K15 gamplay trailer has been released by IGN. With a run length of two minutes, we get to see several WWE superstars in action, including a brief entrance by Sting.

The video backs up 2K’s previous statements on graphics quality. This really is the best looking WWE game we’ve ever seen. One shot in the video shows Triple H, who looks every bit as life like as he would in his real WWE entrance. 2K deserve kudos for their attention to detail, texturing the skin and sweat on the wrestlers to make this as close to the real thing as possible.

Other wrestlers we get to see include The Undertaker, Kane, Hulk Hogan, The Rock and Nikki Bella. All of the animations are right up to date and reflect 2014’s characterisations of the stars. The video also demonstrated the same Goldust, Randy Orton...

Marvel’s Agent Carter has added Dollhouse and One Tree Hill actors to cast...

It’s fair to say that Agent Carter is a fairly exciting proposition for followers of Marvel Studios. Based on the hugely enjoyable One Shot of the same name, the ABC show will follow Hayley Atwell’s Agent Carter in the years while Steve Rogers was doing time as a capcicle.

Now, we’ve got some confirmation as to who will be joining Atwell in the cast. First up, we know that Chad Michael Murray of One Tree Hill fame will play Agent Jack Tompson. Secondly, Enver Gjokaj (who played Victor in Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse) has been confirmed to play Agent Daniel Sousa.

Little is known about the characters, other than they will be joining Agent Carter in the pre-s.H.I.E.L.D. spy agency known as the Strategic Scientific Reserve.

Spoilers for the post-Avengers Marvel Cinematic Universe, I guess, but if you haven't seen Iron Man 3, I don't know what to do with you.

IGN got the chance to talk to Ben Kingsley, who will be voicing the villain in Laika Films' stop-motion animated The Boxtrolls, about his role in Iron Man 3 and the Marvel One Shot All Hail The King. The arc of the character is that The Mandarin is revealed to be an actor named Trevor who goes to jail as a celebrity only to be broken out by henchmen of someone claiming to be the real Mandarin. 

Comic book purists did not like the plot twist about Trevor in Iron Man 3 and seemed to be made a bit happier by the revelation that Mandarin and the 10 Rings are still out there, being terrorists in the Marvel world.

After months and months of teasing the fulfillment of The Mandarin/Ten Rings storyline first hinted at the start of the franchise, Iron Man 3's revelation that The Mandarin was actually just an act portrayed by a washed up stage actor either pissed you off or really entertained you. Regardless, the character that we thought was the head of the Ten Rings terrorist organization turned out to really only be a threat to himself, and he (real name Trevor Slattery) was thrown in jail for his connection to Aldrich Killian's evil plans. While we presumed the story ended there, the Marvel One Shot Hail To The King changed our perceptions yet again, revealing that the real Mandarin was still out there somewhere.
