Danny McBride has obviously had a long, successful comedy career, starring in acclaimed TV shows like The Righteous Gemstones, appearing in hit movies like This Is the End and dodging a massive bullet by not playing Kanye West in what easily would have been the most catastrophic music biopic of all-time.
McBride is one Hollywood star who seemingly doesn’t owe his success to behind-the-scenes favoritism either. But even though he’s no nepo baby, it turns out that McBride does have a famous relative after all.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, McBride was asked about the fact that his wife’s uncle is none other than Cheech Marin. And while you’d expect that the two comedians would have a ton in common, McBride was surprisingly shy around the Cheech and Chong legend. “My wife (Gia Ruiz) and I started dating in 2002. I had been to a few family Thanksgivings,...

Seth Rogen is no stranger to comedic roles, but why has the actor chosen to create a show with many of his friends now?
There are certain polarizing figures in Hollywood, and Seth Rogen is one of them. You either think he’s a comedic genius or a total fraud. We have similar polarizing thoughts on his new Apple TV+ show, The Studio.
If you haven’t yet watched, the first thing you’ll think is, “What was the budget for this show?” And it’s not because of CGI or spectacular sets.
(Courtesy of Apple TV+)
The Studio boasts a cast of some highly familiar and celebrated Hollywood faces. But is that enough for a successful show?
More to the point, is Seth trying to make a successful show, or did he create a job where he gets to hang out with all his famous friends?

Actor-comedian-filmmaker Seth Rogen is regarded as one of the most talented artists in the industry, who, with his work over the years, has managed to garner a loyal fan base. Not only does he star, but Rogen co-created The Studio with his frequent collaborator Evan Goldberg, along with Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez. The soft satire on Hollywood is loosely based on the experience Rogen and Goldberg had while working with Sony Pictures.
The Studio surprises the audience by giving them a peek into the life behind the camera, along with some of the jaw-dropping cameos. Critics noted that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have built the comedic tension brick by brick for every episode of The Studio, and viewers are just delighted to watch it through. The co-creator recently shared who, according to him, is the funniest living human, and now we cannot help but wonder if...

Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg aren’t too crazy about the idea of remaking “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.”
The duo who co-created series “The Studio” said while in the Criterion Closet that they are constantly asked to revisit Stanley Kramer’s 1963 feature for a reboot. “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World” starred Mickey Rooney, Sid Caesar, Ethel Merman, and more, and centered on a group of motorists who witness a car crash in the California desert that leads them on a rat race to find a hidden stash of loot.
“I feel like we’ve been asked to remake this movie a lot. This has come around several times,” Goldberg said of the film, to which Rogen replied, “Every three years we get a request to remake ‘It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.’ […] It actually has amazing physical comedy in it.”

Seth Rogen has mainly been known as that pot-smokin' fella with a peculiar laugh, despite his immense talent and hard work (and impressive efforts for Alzheimer's awareness). His public perception is beginning to change a bit, though, ever since his Apple TV+ series The Studio was released to massive acclaim. In fact, Rogen is being accepted as an all-out auteur, thanks to the brilliance of that show and its deep knowledge of cinema. Perhaps that's why he and Goldberg were invited into the Criterion Closet, the small, coveted room lined wall-to-wall with perfect films.

Channing Tatum Gambit Trauma (Photo Credit – Instagram)
For Channing Tatum, Marvel movies weren’t just entertainment, they were a reminder of what could’ve been. The actor once poured years of passion and effort into a solo Gambit film, only to watch it crumble. And that sting stuck around.
“I haven’t been able to see any of the [Marvel] movies [since],” Tatum told Variety back in 2022. “I loved that character. It was just too sad. It was like losing a friend because I was so ready to play him.”
That heartbreak started way back in 2014. Tatum had been cast as Gambit, the smooth-talking, card-slinging mutant from the X-Men universe. The plan? Introduce him in X-Men: Apocalypse and follow it up with a solo film. But the rollout never happened.

A Detailed Look Into Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg’s Apple TV+ Comedy Series! (Photo Credit – Apple TV+)
Apple TV+ had already struck gold with the unsettling brilliance of Severance, but in 2025, it proved once again that it could masterfully balance wit and storytelling with The Studio. A sharp, satirical dive into the chaos of Hollywood, this new comedy-drama quickly became one of the most talked-about shows of the year – perhaps even the decade.
A Different World, But The Same Unmistakable Edge
Despite existing in an entirely different realm from Severance’s eerie corporate nightmare, The Studio carried that same distinctive edge, offering a mix of razor-sharp humor and cinematic finesse.
What’s even more interesting is that the minds behind it are none other than Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the duo responsible for Superbad and This Is the End. With their signature blend of irreverence and insight, they crafted...

Seth Rogen is dishing on some of the real-life inspirations behind The Studio, including Steve Asbell and a Golden Globes moment.

What better way to write a love letter to Hollywood than to create a scathing comedy series that highlights and laughs at everything that's currently wrong with the film industry. That's exactly what Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have done with The Studio, the new comedy series which just premiered on Apple TV+. With two episodes already available to stream, a flood of reviews have hit the internet, and the show's Rotten Tomatoes score has just been revealed. So, is The Studio a tentpole hit, or an underwhelming studio flop?
After a tidal wave of reviews, The Studio is an Oscar-caliber hit (or Emmys-caliber as it's a series), with the new show currently holding a near-perfect 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Not only has the show united most critics, it has also done so while scoring numerous 4/5 and 5/5 reviews. Peter Gray of The Au Review is one such critic who scored...

Seth Rogen has recently achieved deserved success for his hyperstylistic new satire The Studio, which some may view as an "elevated" comedy compared to the grass and sass of his earlier work, a delightful cinema of bud and buds including Superbad, This Is the End, and Pineapple Express. If you think The Studio is different for Rogen, then you might be gobsmacked by Taking Care, a short film by the great James Keach which features Rogen but mainly spotlights his wife, Lauren Miller Rogen, and the couple's personal and professional relationship with Alzheimer's. Seth and Lauren met in their 20s, and it wasn't long before Lauren's mother, a beloved teacher named Adele Miller, developed younger-onset Alzheimer's disease at age 55. Adele would lose most of her independence within the next five years.

As one of Hollywood’s most appealing, talented, and beloved actors, Paul Rudd has come a long way from getting featured in popular cult comedies of the 1990s and the 2000s to reaching stardom through the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise in 2015.
In addition to his impeccable acting skills, Rudd is also hailed as the sexiest man on earth. Indeed, the Marvel star hasn’t aged at all! He has managed to keep a youthful appearance since his Hollywood debut.
Although his acting abilities are unquestionable, many are astonished that he appears younger than his actual age. One wonders what Rudd’s secret is because he still has the same looks as he did in the 1990s. So, what makes Rudd so youthful than ever?

When thinking about 2013's This is the End, there are a few things that come to mind. It is remembered as one of the last big collaborations between Seth Rogen and James Franco before all the controversy surrounding the latter, and as one of the last examples of comedies being more consistent winners at the box office. The film is also remembered for a slew of high-profile celebrity cameos from Rihanna to Harry Potter'sEmma Watson. The cameos are all memorable in their own right, but Watson's is a particular standout, not only because of what's in the final film, but also because of the stories surrounding the actress being so upset by a particular line that she actually walked off the set. Now, with a lot of time having passed, Rogen has finally clarified why Watson was upset enough to need to take a minute and get herself together.

Dwight "The General" Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone) didn’t give Martin Starr's character Bodhi much of a choice when he muscled in on the entrepreneur’s weed business in Season 1 of Tulsa King. However, Dwight and Bodhi’s profitable partnership slowly evolved into a close friendship, too, and Starr states in a brand-new interview with Collider that he has read a pair of Season 3 scripts. Plus, the actor also reveals when production on the next batch of episodes finally begins. Starr said:
"I mean, I've only just read the first two scripts. We start production next week. I can't tell you anything that I've read in those episodes, but I am excited. This new season is going to be a lot of fun. It looks already like there’s going to be a lot of action, and there are some loose ends that may or may not get tied up.

Seth Rogen has come a long way from his Freaks and Geeks days and the stoner comedies of years past. But that doesn’t mean he has traded in all of his trademarks – the dude still loves to curse. That amount even caught the ear of Martin Scorsese, who Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg landed for their upcoming Apple TV+ series The Studio.
Appearing at SXSW this week to premiere the first two episodes of The Studio, Seth Rogen said that he and Goldberg were called out by Martin Scorsese for the amount of “f fombs” they were dropping. As Rogen recalled while filming, “He’s like, ‘You guys say ‘f*ck’ too much. And we were like, ‘We say ‘fuck’ too much?!’”
Considering the amount of cursing going on in some of Martin Scorsese’s most famous movies, it’s no wonder Seth Rogen was surprised. For reference, The Wolf of Wall Street...

I’ve got some exciting news for anyone who loves a good laugh. Seth Rogen and his longtime creative partner Evan Goldberg have a new comedy series called ‘The Studio,’ and it’s already making a big splash. This isn’t just another project from the duo behind classics like ‘Superbad’ and ‘Pineapple Express.’ Nope, this one’s hitting the ground running with a flawless 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
So, what’s ‘The Studio’ all about? Picture Seth Rogen as Matt Remick, a guy who’s just landed the top job at a fictional Hollywood movie company called Continental Studios. It’s not all glitz and glamour, though. He’s stuck dealing with a chaotic team of executives, temperamental artists, and some seriously tough corporate bosses. The show dives into the wild world of filmmaking, where every decision could lead to a blockbuster win or a total disaster. It’s...

Many of us were first introduced to Seth Rogen close to 25 years ago when he played Ken Miller, one of the “freaks” in Freaks and Geeks, then, as part of Judd Apatow’s usual group of actors and comedians he liked to work with, in comedy hits like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Superbad, and the Rogen-starring Knocked Up. It didn’t take long for him to climb the Hollywood ladder, making his feature directorial debut with This Is the End, alongside co-director Evan Goldberg, almost causing an international incident with their second film, The Interview, becoming a producer on projects as varied as The Disaster Artist, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, The Boys, and Pam & Tommy (just to name a few), and starred in films by directors like Steven Spielberg, Danny Boyle, Michel Gondry, and Sarah Polley. Over the course of the 21st century, we’ve basically watched Rogen...

Is there a major comic actor who purely loves movies more than Seth Rogen?
In Hollywood history, there may be comedians with better track records. But it’s hard to think of anyone who seems so excited to be making cinema, whether enlisting David Gordon Green to bring both indie lyricism and ’80s action-comedy violence into the stoner buddy comedy “Pineapple Express” or staging a full-scale apocalypse with dozens of stars playing themselves in “This Is the End,” his directorial debut alongside longtime creative partner Evan Goldberg.
Now Rogen and Goldberg, alongside co-creators Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory and Frida Perez have undertaken one of their most ambitious projects yet with “The Studio.” It’s a satire of the contemporary and constantly imperiled Hollywood machine, shot in richly cinematic textures and a series of uninterrupted takes, featuring an ensemble packed with both stars in major roles and in playing-themselves cameos. Danny McBridehas been one of the most consistently successful creative storytellers of the past several decades, as he has managed to star, produce, and create a series of highly successful HBO shows like Eastbound & Down, Vice Principals, and The Righteous Gemstones. Although McBride’s shows are brilliant in their own right, he certainly earned a reputation for being one of the funniest living actors thanks to hilarious performances in modern comedy classics like Pineapple Express, This Is The End, and Tropic Thunder. McBride has a rather extensive filmography, as he has frequently collaborated with the acclaimed independent filmmaker David Gordon Green. Although he would later work with Green on writing and creating the new Halloween reboot trilogy, McBride has a small role in the brilliant romantic drama All the Real Girls.

Here’s Why Emma Watson Once Stormed Out Of This Is The End Set (Photo Credit – Koimoi)
Emma Watson had her limits, and This Is the End pushed them. The 2013 apocalyptic comedy was packed with outrageous moments, but one scene took things too far for the Harry Potter star. When Channing Tatum hit the set in nothing but a leather thong, Watson reportedly took one look and walked out.
According to an unconfirmed account from an extra on set, Watson had been scheduled to shoot a scene with Tatum, Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, James Franco, and Jay Baruchel. The setup? McBride, playing a deranged king, emerged from an Rv with Tatum on a leash, dressed in only a thong. The extra claimed that Watson “had a freak-out moment” and bolted before cameras rolled. Stoner culture and horror movies go together like chips and queso—a match made in heaven (or perhaps hell). There’s something about the mind-expanding vibes of stoner humor mixed with the surreal, the gory, and the downright absurd that makes this subgenre irresistible. Whether it’s the paranoia of supernatural forces, the dark hilarity of a hapless stoner fighting demons, or the trippy visual stylings of a psychedelic horror trip, stoner horror films offer something uniquely enjoyable.
The appeal probably lies in the way these films can blend laughter and terror. Stoner protagonists are often laid-back, lovable underdogs thrust into insane scenarios, bringing an everyman charm that audiences root for. These films don’t just deliver scares—they also lean into the bizarre, often embracing wildly imaginative plots that break traditional horror conventions. With their mix of self-awareness, satire, and creative insanity, stoner horror movies are perfect for those...

James Franco says he was heartbroken when he realized that his friendship with Seth Rogen had fizzled out, but Rogen was too busy not spending time with guys who start acting schools just to sleep with teenagers to pay attention.
Millennial-and-older comedy fans will recall how, back in the late 2000s, Hollywood began a torrid love affair with the stoner comedy bromance between Franco and Rogen, who had both grown up to be bona-fide A-listers in their own rights a decade after co-starring in the cult-beloved comedy-drama series Freaks and Geeks. Between Pineapple Express, The Interview and This Is the End, the duo of Franco and Rogen put their star powers together to create comedy classics aimed directly at the sizable community of guys who look like Rogen.

For a while there, it seemed like James Franco and Seth Rogen were going to be the standouts of the Judd Apatow School of Comedy. Tokin’ it up as a pair of freaks on Freaks and Geeks, the boys went on to also team on movies like Pineapple Express, This Is the End, The Interview, and more. But when Franco started facing accusations of sexual misconduct in 2018, that was pretty much it for both his career and his friendship with Rogen.

Seth Rogen is weighing in on his friendship with James Franco after his former friend revealed their relationship had ended.
In a new interview, Apple TV+’s The Studio star said he doesn’t pay much attention to social media buzz around him.
“Honestly, I absorb so little media that it really wasn’t on my radar,” Rogen told Esquire about Franco’s comments on their friendship.
According to the publication, Rogen was “not surprised to get that question, and he’s clearly not happy about it.” The magazine also noted his response was “all he wants to say about that.”
Rogen and Franco got their start in the business by starring on the NBC series Freaks and Geeks. They would go on to star in films like Knocked Up, Pineapple Express, This Is The End, The Interview, Sausage Party and The Disaster Artist.

James Franco and Seth Rogen's bromance was the stuff of modern Hollywood legend — producing comedy hits like Pineapple Express, The Interview, This Is The End, and more — until it wasn't. The duo's friendship spawned a series of hit movies after it was borne out of the cult classic television series Freaks and Geeks (in which they both starred for its gone-too-soon single season), but all the good years weren't enough to keep their friendship alive after a series of allegations regarding Franco's inappropriate sexual relationships with his students came to light.
And now, in a new interview with Esquire to promote Rogen's new AppleTV+ comedy series, The Studio, the multi-hyphenate is sharing his thoughts on the friendship breakup heard 'round the world. And it's not too surprising — at least to this particular writer — that Rogen is staying decidedly mum on the subject.

Seth Rogen is opening up about where things stand with James Franco.
The 42-year-old filmmaker and comedian opened up to Esquire about the 46-year-old actor’s comments to Variety.
“No. I haven’t talked to Seth. I love Seth, we had 20 great years together, but I guess it’s over. And not for lack of trying. I’ve told him how much he’s meant to me,” James said at the time.

Seth Rogen said in a new cover story for Esquire magazine that he did not pay attention to the online buzz that ignited last fall after his former friend and collaborator James Franco told Variety their friendship is definitively over. Rogen told The Sunday Times in 2021 that he did not plan to work with Franco again after sexual misconduct allegations made against the latter.

The latest trailer for Universal's live-action update of "How to Train Your Dragon" is here, once again making us wonder: Why do we need this movie when the animated version is already great? The new footage offers no answers, but by dropping during Super Bowl Lix, it'll no doubt inspire a few million more people to ask the question.
Admittedly, this new installment in the franchise (which began with the cartoon feature of the same name in 2010) does have a few things going for it, including the return of original trilogy writer-director Dean DeBlois and an animation style that somehow manages to capture the overwhelming cuteness of its heroic black dragon, Toothless.
The first trailer for the live-action "How to Train Your Dragon," which dropped in November 2024 before screening in theaters with Universal's "Wicked," didn't stray from the original film much at all in terms of its visuals or plot beats.

The debut feature film of Caitlin Cronenberg, daughter of legendary body horror auteur David Cronenberg, is quickly rising on Hulu's charts. Sitting at number three as of this writing, Humane was released in April 2024 but didn't receive much attention at the time. The psychological thriller hit Shudder in July of that year, but still didn't make much of a blip. It seems the underrated film is finally getting its due on Hulu.
Humane takes place in an alternate reality Canada, where the climate crisis has prompted the world's governments to institute a euthanasia campaign in order to rid Earth of 20% of its human population. The narrative centers on the Yorks, an estranged family brought together one evening by patriarch Charles. He has a surprise for his children, one that will lead the night into a terrifying nightmare full of twists and turns.

I walked through the door and was greeted by a maniac with a chainsaw warning me not to lose my head. Turning the corner, I came face-to-face with two massive creatures, eyes glowing, faces looking like they’re made of chewed-up bubble gum, grins stretching wide enough that you can practically hear the corners of their mouth creaking. Or was it the mechanisms making them move? The walls around you are lined with countless images of monsters, slashers, and other nightmares. You’d typically expect what I encountered to be the start of a haunted house and not an art gallery, but that’s not the type of experience you get when you step into the twisted and vibrant world of Alex Pardee. No, in Alex’s world, the snooty expectations of strolling a gallery are ripped away in bloody, ghoulish delight because in his work, it’s all about the horror.

The Deadpool movie trilogy contains some of the most beloved superhero films in recent years, with the character's recent entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe proving what an incredible box office draw the hero is. After three films, Deadpool has moved over to the MCU timeline and made a staggering amount of money along the way, which is especially mind-blowing when considering the costs of each film. Deadpool has genuinely cemented himself as a box office juggernaut, and any possible Deadpool sequels seem primed to make an incredible amount of money.
Budgets for superhero movies have gotten out of hand in recent years, with The Marvels' box office failure presenting a critical opportunity for reflection on this topic for the franchise. However, not every superhero movie needs to cost over $200 million, and the 2016 release of the first Deadpool is a great reminder of this. With lower budgets, films are able to take greater risks,...

There was a time when the mention of "McLovin" would've had people assuming McDonalds had a promotional event happening on Valentine's Day. After 2007 though, thanks to Jonah Hill, Michael Cera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and one of the best comedies ever made, "Superbad" made it totally reasonable to have that name on a driver's license. It also became an essential movie about high school, so much so that, years later, people still ask its stars if we'll ever get a sequel. Well, one of the loudest mouths in the movie and the actor who's cursed the most on film, Jonah Hill, has a plan so ridiculous it just might work.
In a 2022 interview with W Magazine, Hill said he would absolutely be down for returning to the world of Seth (Hill), Evan (Cera), and Fogell aka McLovin (Mintz-Plasse) under one condition: they would all have to be in their 80s. Sure, it...

Seth Rogen is one of the more unique comedic actors out there right now. Unlike some professional goofballs, Rogen's career has also included some significant dramatic works. This has included, for example, serious roles in The Fabelmans and Steve Jobs. While he still brings his characteristic humor to all his roles, parts in dramatic films show his range. Rogen is also experienced both in front of the camera and behind-the-scenes, serving as a producer on a number of key projects including The Boys and Invincible.
A lot of his dual behind-the-scenes and in-front-of-the-camera work extends to his comedy rolls. In both late 2000s movies Superbad and Pineapple Express, for example, Rogen both stars in and produces the film in some capacity. The same is true for other Rogen-featuring comedies including The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Funny People, The Green Hornet, and 50/50. Whether it be by utter obliteration, acts of deities and demons, or merely the ruination of the environment for human habitation, the world's end has fascinated filmmakers for as long as special effects have allowed it to be visualized. In general, audiences are drawn to see such mass destruction at a fictional remove as well, though some tales of the end times can hit a bit too close to home to feel good as escapism.

For once, a Harlan Coben Netflix series is staying in the good ol’ U-S of A.
Netflix has greenlit an eight-episode adaptation of American thriller/mystery-writer Coben’s novel “I Will Find You.” The Robert Hull-run limited series will mark Coben’s first Netflix adaptation set in the U.S.
“I Will Find You” sees a father serving life in prison after being convicted of murdering his own son. Here’s the deal though: Dad didn’t do it, and the son may still be alive — but not of that can be proven from the inside. Yes, tonight there’s gonna be a jailbreak.
Coben will executive produce through his Final Twist Productions; John Weber also executive produces. As do Bryan Wynbrandt and Steven Lilien, who worked with Hull on NBC’s “Quantum Leap” remake.
Coben is one of the most prolific authors out there, and almost certainly Netflix’s number 1 novelist.
