Republic Pictures has nabbed U.S. and Canadian rights to “Adulthood,” directed by Alex Winter and penned by novelist Michael M.B. Galvin.
Described as darkly comic and modern-noir, “Adulthood” follows sister and brother Megan and Noah who are barely hanging on in present-day America. When they discover a dead body, long buried in their parents’ basement, the siblings are pulled back to the hometown they ran away from and into a rabbit hole of crime and murder.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be working with Republic Pictures for the North American sales and release of our film,” said Winter. “They have great instincts and are dedicated to quality indie movies.”
The cast includes Josh Gad (“Gutenberg! The Musical!”), Kaya Scodelario (“The Gentlemen”), Billie Lourd (Booksmart), Anthony Carrigan (“Barry”) and Winter, best known for the long-running hit “Bill & Ted” franchise, including 2020’s “Bill & Ted Face the Music.

On his 66th birthday, Thurston Moore has shared a new single titled “New in Town” from his upcoming album, Flow Critical Lucidity. Stream it below.
Penned by Radieux Radio, the experimental “New in Town” was influenced by 1980s punk and hardcore bands like Minor Threat, Fugazi, Bad Brains, and Red C. Built around off-kilter percussion and Moore’s detached delivery, the track’s theme is “fresh blood,” as the artist explained in a statement.
Moore added, “The song is about… the new kid in school. The new kid on the scene. A new potential for change in an already active community hoping to protect the world from the poisons of power-hungry creeps. The spirit of youth demonstrated in the early ’80s slam pits of hardcore refusing the worn-out expectations of adulthood.”

10. The Mist (2017)
Based on Stephen King’s novel of the same name, the idea behind this show is something the author loves to do: isolating a small town from the rest of the world, throwing in a bunch of stress for its inhabitants, and seeing what they do about it. The Mist didn’t perform too well in Season 1, but it had the right idea and potential.
You can watch The Mist on Netflix, Apple TV, and Prime Video.

Chris Hemsworth graces the cover of Vanity Fair’s May 2024 issue, where he revealed that he feels Marvel fans deserve another “Thor” movie after the whiff that was 2022’s “Thor: Love and Thunder.” The actor already admitted to GQ last year that his fourth standalone “Thor” movie was “too silly” for its own good, but the misstep appears to continue to haunt him.
“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” Hemsworth told Vanity Fair. “I didn’t stick the landing.”
While Hemsworth has always been grateful for his career-defining role as Thor, he admitted to the publication that he grew frustrated with the character while playing him in four standalone Marvel films and additional “Avengers” movies.
“Sometimes I felt like a security guard for the team,” Hemsworth said. “I would read everyone else’s lines, and go, ‘Oh, they got way cooler stuff.

After the results of the first two major Oscar precursor ceremonies, this year’s Best Actor race, to many, looks to be a two-horse race: Paul Giamatti (“The Holdovers”) was victorious at both the Golden Globes in the comedy category and at the Critics’ Choice Awards. Cillian Murphy (“Oppenheimer”) took home the Drama Globe, edging out the frontrunner, Bradley Cooper (“Maestro”). Going into the SAG Awards, Murphy still leads our odds, with six of our experts currently backing the Irishman. Giamatti follows closely behind with the support of four experts. Cooper sits on the outside right now with the support of a pair of pundits. Despite Cooper’s faltering at those precursors, he is still very much in this race. Here are five reasons why he will win the SAG Award against the odds.

Most of the buzzed-about network dramas of the 1990s have been largely forgotten these days.
ER and NYPD Blue might have been the talk of the town during the Clinton years, but in the Biden age, they're seldom discussed outside of retrospectives about what the cast members are up to these days.
Interestingly, the network shows from that era that have loomed largest in the public's memory are the ones that might broadly be described as "supernatural mysteries."
We're talking about Twin Peaks, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and, of course, The X-Files.
In fact, one could argue that no network drama from the past 30 years has proved as enduring and influential as the saga of Mulder and Scully.
The X-Files ran for nine seasons and inspired two feature films, a spinoff series (The Lone Gunmen), and a 2016 revival, with a second reboot rumored to be in the works courtesy of Black Panther director Ryan Coogler.

Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky have shared a loved-up festive photo dump. These pictures come amidst unkind rumours about their marriage continue to swirl.
The ‘Thor’ star, 40, and the 47-year-old Spanish actress have been married for thirteen years and share three children, India, and twin boys Sasha and Tristan.
In new photos Chris posted to Instagram, they can be seen enjoying Christmas Day at their home, eating in the blazing Australian sun, and gazing over their infinity pool and out towards the sea, reports ‘Mirror.co.uk’.
The couple’s fans have voiced their concern that there might be problems at home after noticing that they had been holidaying apart and not posting many photos together.
After Elsa posted a photo of her and one of their sons decorating a massive Christmas tree, one fan commented: “Haven’t seen you and Chris together in a while.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s Artists Equity banner has formed a partnership with Chris Hemsworth’s Wild State, which will see Artists Equity producing film and television projects from the Thor actor’s banner.
Wild State, which Hemsworth heads with partner Ben Grayson, was founded in 2022 and has credits that include the Hemsworth-fronted Extraction 2. A third installment of the Netflix franchise is on the way.
Outside of narrative projects, Wild State will continue its pact with National Geographic for unscripted projects, which has included Shark Beach with Chris Hemsworth and Limitless with Chris Hemsworth.
Artists Equity, which was founded with backing from RedBird Capital Partners, has a focus on sharing profit participation with above and below-the-line talent based on performance-based incentives.
The banner’s first project was the Affleck-directed and Damon-fronted movie Air, which landed at Amazon in a lucrative deal and was released earlier this year. The next...

Sony's "Madame Web" trailer might be the most ridiculous trailer for a major studio release I've seen in a hot minute. There are just so many bizarre moments that jump out at you. Dakota Johnson playing a Manhattan paramedic who inexplicably gains clairvoyant powers that grant her visions like those from a "Final Destination" film? The way the trailer just throws a trio of female spider-heroes right at you? Johnson's Cassandra Webb magically gaining the ability to fight and drive ambulances like a seasoned pro thanks to her newfound future-seeing visions? Who is she, Bradley Cooper in "Limitless"? Sony refusing to call its latest (Peter Parker-free?) Spider-Man spinoff a superhero movie and referring to it as a "suspense-driven thriller" is merely the bow on top of this pile of nonsense.
However, there is one moment that stands out above all the others. That would be the one where Cassandra...

Helena (Daisy Ridley), the title character of “The Marsh King’s Daughter,” is a woman living what she thinks is a safe, comfortable middle-class existence — just like the heroes of “Cape Fear” or “Straw Dogs.” And like those characters, she’s ripped out of her cocoon by a man with a vengeful agenda. In this case, the self-righteous stalker-invader is her father, Jacob (Ben Mendelsohn), who raised her in a cabin in the marshland wilderness of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, teaching her how to hunt and survive. In the film’s early scenes, we might almost be watching some off-the-grid version of the Laura Ingalls Wilder story, as Helena drinks in the woodland skills taught by Jacob, with each lesson marked by a homemade tattoo (he inks a deer on her neck when she gets her first kill).
