Armie Hammer’s outlaw days in Hollywood are coming to an end, thanks to indie Western film “Frontier Crucible.”
Hammer will return to acting for the first time since being accused of sexual assault in 2021. After the allegations, which also suggested Hammer had cannibalistic tendencies, the “Call Me by Your Name” star was dropped from roles in Amazon’s “Shotgun Wedding,” Paramount’s “The Offer,” Starz’s “Gaslit,” and Broadway’s “The Minutes.” The accusations were investigated by the LAPD; no charges were filed.
Now, after Hammer has said he was “not welcome” in Hollywood anymore, the “Lone Ranger” actor is playing one of three outlaw criminals for “Frontier Crucible.”
The feature is produced by “Bone Tomahawk” and “Dragged Across Concrete” producer Dallas Sonnier, and is being billed as “Reservoir Dogs” meets “Bone Tomahawk.” The film is set in the Arizona Territory of the 1870s, and follows a former soldier...

Exclusive: Armie Hammer, who hasn’t acted in more than three years following 2021 sexual assault allegations, is set to return to a film set with western Frontier Crucible.
This is the project we revealed yesterday, starring Thomas Jane (The Predator) and produced by Bone Tomahawk and Dragged Across Concrete producer Dallas Sonnier. Filming is due to get underway on the independently-financed film next month in Monument Valley and Prescott, Arizona.
Hammer’s A-list Hollywood career was derailed back in 2021 when multiple women came forward with claims of abuse against him. Hammer denied the allegations but had to abandon several projects and was dropped by his talent agency and publicist. After an investigation into Hammer by the LA County District Attorney and LAPD, they declined to pursue criminal charges against him, citing insufficient evidence. He remains without representation other than his lawyer.

Three years after being accused of accused of sexual assault allegations and rumors of cannibalism, Armie Hammer is back with a new project.
The actor, who has starred in The Lone Ranger and Call Me By Your Name, has launched a podcast.
The Armie HammerTime Podcast launched today with an interview with comedian Tom Arnold.
“Some of you are going to love this and some of you are going to f*cking hate it. I’m starting a podcast. The original idea of the podcast was sort of the concept that throughout the course of the day every single person you interact with knows at least one thing that you don’t so teach me what that one thing is,” he said in an Instagram video to publicize the podcast.

Armie Hammer, the onetime A-list actor whose career came tumbling down around him amid a number of #MeToo accusations, is stepping back into the public sphere with a new podcast.
“Some of you are going to love this and some of you are going to fucking hate it,” says Hammer, 38, on Instagram, strolling down the Venice Beach boardwalk — an acknowledgment that the Call Me By Your Name and Lone Ranger star has amassed his fair share of detractors via his scandals.
The podcast — The Armie HammerTime Podcast — will feature a rotation of guests, each of whom “know one thing that you don’t.” Hammer will engage the guests in longform conversations in which they “teach me what that thing is.”
More intriguing, however, is the notion that the podcast will serve as a personal diary, offering insights into his inner thinking amid one of the most spectacular downfalls in Hollywood history.

Joker: Folie à Deux looks poised to be become one of the biggest box office flops in history, according to projections from industry insiders.
A new report in Variety estimates Todd Phillips’ sequel could lose Warner Bros. up to $200 million during its theatrical run. Thus far, the Joaquin Phoenix-starring film has grossed $51.5 million domestically and $165 million globally during its first two weeks in theaters. Its total gross is projected to be $65 million domestically and $210 million to $215 million globally.
According to the report, Folie à Deux cost $200 million to produce, with an additional $100 million going to marketing and distribution. With ticket sales split between studios and theater owners, it would thus need to gross $450 million to break even during its theatrical run (though Warner Bros. sources contend the number is $375 million).
Per insider estimates and three rival executives familiar with similar films, Joker 2 could lose between $125 million and $200 million...

After spending the entirety of last week’s show condescending to a lineup of confused children, Bill Maher’s most recent episode of Club Random featured an actual adult as a guest: Quentin Tarantino. This meant that Maher could once again spend the entire interview smoking pot and distractingly fiddling with liquor bottles as if his show were an elementary school production of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
Maher and Tarantino, the first return guest to Maher’s YouTube show/cry for help, ping-ponged through a headache-inducing assortment of topics, including the success of Taylor Swift, whether or not Hal 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey was gay and why Kamala Harris will end up losing the presidential election (hint: it’s because she won’t appear on Maher’s HBO show).

Helena Bonham Carter had a blast on the Harry Potter set, especially during a memorable scene with Daniel Radcliffe. Despite her veteran status, she was playfully treated like a teen by her younger co-stars. Waving a wand wasn’t as glamorous as it seemed—Carter hit the wand-waving school hard and even picked up a blister from all the practice.

Once a popular fan cast for playing Batman, Armie Hammer has met one of the worst fates a celebrity can ever meet: allegations of s*xual misconduct, including assault and cannibalism. Armie Hammer is opening up about the aftermath of the sexual assault allegations from 2021 and the people who expressed their support during this time.
More than two years after the allegations, an investigation into the Call Me by Your Name actor brought no charges against him by the LA District Attorney due to “insufficient evidence.”
In a new interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Hammer shut down rumors that Robert Downey Jr. paid for his rehab.

Morgan pressed Hammer about Downey’s support for him during this time, to which Hammer said, “I don’t want to bring anyone else into my situation. There are a number of people who have been extremely helpful, and I’m incredibly grateful.”

Armie Hammer continued his recent press tour with an appearance on “Piers Morgan Uncensored” on Friday, where he discussed the aftermath of the sexual abuse allegations brought against him in 2021.
As a result of the allegations — which included rape, engaging in cannibalism fantasies and coercing partners into Bdsm scenarios — the “Social Network” and “Call Me by Your Name” actor exited several projects, was dropped by his publicist and agent and became the subject of an LAPD investigation. Ultimately, no criminal charges were brought against Hammer, who has denied the allegations and maintained that all relationships were consensual.
Despite the fallout, Hammer shared with Morgan that some of his former Hollywood colleagues did reach out, including Robert Downey Jr. But when asked about reports that the “Iron Man” star paid for his rehab, Hammer said, “No, he did not. He did not pay for me to go to rehab.”

Kevin Costner's long-awaited Western epic "Horizon: An American Saga -- Chapter 1" hit theaters this past weekend. This was a true passion project for the "Dances With Wolves" director, who put around $38 million of his own money, in addition to securing lots of other financing from mystery investors, to get the film made. It's the first in a planned four-film saga, with Warner Bros. set to release "Chapter 2" in mere weeks on August 16. Unfortunately, in the early going, this experiment has not panned out financially.
Opening against "A Quiet Place: Day One," the first installment in Costner's new franchise was buried. "Horizon" opened to a mere $11 million domestically, placing at number three on the charts for the weekend, scarcely above "Bad Boys: Ride or Die" ($10.3 million), which was in its fourth weekend of release. It certainly doesn't help that "Inside Out 2" has remained a juggernaut, passing $1 billion worldwide...

Netflix has unveiled the expansion of its Netflix Studios Albuquerque production facility in the southwestern US state of New Mexico.
The expansion adds four new soundstages, three mills, one production office, two stage support buildings and two dedicated backlot areas across 108 acres to the facility, which Netflix acquired in 2018.
The global streamer said the facility also now incorporates several features geared towards sustainability, including on-site solar and battery storage systems, geothermal heating and cooling, all-electric appliances and 50 electric vehicle fast chargers.
Previously known as Abq Studios, the facility was the first studio complex acquired by Netflix as a production hub.

Nowadays Will Smith is recognized as one of the most demanded actors in the industry, however, back in the 1990s he only rose to fame. The glowing success of Bad Boys (1995) and Men in Black (1997) made him a worldwide star and brought him much acclaim.

Back in 2013, Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp joined forces in Disney’s infamous Western epic The Lone Ranger. Considering Depp was coming off the success of the Pirates of the Caribbean flicks, which pushed him to new heights, Disney wanted him to headline another major franchise.
However, the House of Mouse’s attempt to make The Lone Ranger a franchise Kickstarter fell face-first, as it became a historic box-office bomb. But despite the movie’s misfortune at the box office, it seems the two leads got along with each other pretty well, as Hammer got to know the real Depp.

George Miller’s Furiosa may be struggling in cinemas, but that doesn’t mean it won’t ultimately make money for Warner Bros. A few thoughts on the modern approach to box office reporting:
There’s a sense of ‘here we again’, as headlines emerge about George Miller’s latest movie, Furiosa.
Off the back of terrific reviews, the fifth film in the Mad Max saga arrived in cinemas with the promise of a sixth movie – The Borderlands – ready to go. George Miller said as much in his collection of pre-release interviews, the assumption being that Warner Bros would fire the starting gun should Furiosa’s box office receipts be solid enough.
Yet, as you likely know, the numbers aren’t looking good. The chances of Mad Max 6 are beginning to look incredibly slim.

“It’s very, very prideful and it was very special for all of us making it,” reflects Damian Marcano on the experience of directing three episodes of “Lawmen: Bass Reeves.” As a child growing up in Trinidad, he and his grandfather would watch “The Lone Ranger” together and, when approached about joining the Paramount+ series, he was “very shocked to find out that he was actually the inspiration for what I had watched portrayed by a white actor,” referring to the influence of the real-life Bass Reeves (David Oyelowo) on American pop culture. Reeves was one of the first Black U.S. Deputy Marshals, and the director is glad for the opportunity not only to “retell these stories with the correct lens,” but also to show “a character of this skin color, an African man, formerly enslaved man” who “gets to do the ass-kicking.” Watch our exclusive video interview above.

Gore Verbinski would seem to have hit a snag in his big-budget blockbuster career after his Lone Ranger movie for Disney became a notoriously bloated flop. However, he was able to return with a smaller directorial effort after that, with the suspense film A Cure for Wellness. It has been eight years since the release of A Cure for Wellness, and Verbinski returns from his hiatus to helm an action-adventure film with the humorous title Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die. The movie sports an impressive cast, including Sam Rockwell, Michael Peña, Haley Lu Richardson, Zazie Beetz and Juno Temple. The film has just started production on location in South Africa.
The description of the movie’s plot, according to Deadline, reads, “The film, written by Matthew Robinson (Love & Monsters), centers on a man from the future (Rockwell) who arrives at a diner in Los Angeles where he must recruit...

The Western is one of the many genres that have endured in the vast canon of American film. And with Horizon: An American Saga set for release soon, all eyes will be on Kevin Costner to prove that the Western is still as appealing as it ever was.
It would not be incorrect, of course, to suggest that Costner’s forthcoming passion project is pushing the boundaries of his line of work. The Western epic is a big risk for the California-born actor, given how much of his own money went into financing the flick, which will be released in two parts.
Starring Sam Worthington, Costner, and Sienna Miller, among others, the film is set during the American Civil War.
Kevin Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga
Even though the backdrop and main idea of Horizon: An American Saga is fairly well-known, Costner might still score a career-high with this film.

After eight years, Gore Verbinski’s back with a thriller called Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die. And it now has a cast, with Sam Rockwell, Michael Peña and Zazie Beetz among the large names.
It’s almost exactly eight years since director Gore Verbinski released a film – that being the 2016 horror, A Cure For Wellness. Now, though, the Pirates Of The Caribbean filmmaker appears to have gotten a new project together, with Deadline reporting that a cast has been announced for a genre mash-up called Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die.
Among the major names you’ll find Sam Rockwell (most recently seen in Argylle), Haley Lu Richardson, Juno Temple, Zazie Beetz and Michael Peña.
According to Deadline’s plot summary, the film’s about a “man from the future” – who’ll be played by Rockwell – whose mission is to assemble a group of “disgruntled patrons” (played...

After directing the first three “Pirates of the Caribbean” films (2003–2007) and the animated movie “Rango” (2011), which won the Academy Award and BAFTA for Best Animated Film, things have been relatively quiet for director Gore Verbinski. “The Lone Ranger” was an expensive disappointment at the box office, and the back-to-basic “A Cure for Wellness” was well-respected but kind of came and went.

Believe it or not, but it’s been nearly eight years since the release of Gore Verbinski’s last movie — the underrated A Cure for Wellness — but the director finally has a new project in the works. Deadline reports that Verbinski has assembled a fantastic ensemble of actors for his action-adventure movie titled Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die.
Sam Rockwell, one of my all-time favourite actors, will be leading the cast, which includes Haley Lu Richardson (The White Lotus), Juno Temple (Fargo), Michael Peña (Ant-Man and the Wasp), and Zazie Beetz (Joker). Rockwell will star as a “man from the future” who arrives at a Los Angeles diner to recruit a “precise combination of disgruntled patrons to join him on a one-night-six-block quest to save the world from the terminal threat of a rogue artificial intelligence.“

As far as conspiracy theories go, very few have had as much of a life as the notion that NASA faked the Apollo moon landing. In some ways, one can understand why people felt this way, as it was one of the most critical events in human history, and the only witness was a TV camera. Back then, people distrusted anything they couldn’t see with their own eyes. In the seventies, conspiracy theories started to get famous, especially as far as the government went, with this the era of Watergate. People no longer trusted authority, and into this fraught environment came Capricorn One, a sci-fi-tinged conspiracy thriller that was one of the most popular films of 1977 but has since been largely forgotten – save for a small cult of devoted fans.

Walt Disney Studios has had a pretty abysmal year at the international box office in 2023. Between Ant-Man: Quantumania, The Little Mermaid, Elemental, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and perhaps most disappointing, The Marvels, the typically successful movie studio has lost an ungodly amount of money by producing overly expensive feature films that failed to resonate among the masses and earn back their financial investments. If the studio isn’t careful and the trend continues, Disney could break another record for the all-time biggest box-office bomb on record.
Speaking of which, what would your answer be if you had to guess Disney’s most notorious financial flop of all time? Well, up until recently, the correct response would have been John Carter, the disastrous 2012 adaptation of Edgar Rice Boroughs’ A Princes of Mars. However, after tallying up the receipts in 2023, Disney’s most infamous box office failure now belongs to The Lone Ranger,...

We have some very sad news to close out 2023, folks. Tom Wilkinson, one of the finest and most beloved character actors of this (or any other) generation, has died suddenly at 75. Deadline was the first to report the news. The twice Oscar-nominated co-star of Michael Clayton, Batman Begins, In the Bedroom, and many more films last appeared in Disney Plus’s sequel series to his breakout role in The Full Monty.
Between 1998 and 2018, Wilkinson was one of his generation’s most prolific character actors, with his output putting him up there with Brian Cox and Brendan Gleeson. He made over 65 movies and TV series in that twenty-year period, starring in everything from high-profile arthouse fare like Todd Field’s In the Bedroom to his role as Carmine Falcone in Batman Begins. He often played villains, such as in The Lone Ranger, but had the range to take on pretty much any part.

“The family asks for privacy at this time,” the statement continued.
Wilkinson was nominated for six BAFTA awards over the course of his career, winning best performance by an actor in a supporting role in 1998 for The Full Monty. His other nods included recognition for Michael Clayton, In the Bedroom and Shakespeare in Love.

There are several popular social media accounts that graph weekly cable network schedules, and it’s always stunning to see how many schedulers have just given up. Nearly every cable network, large and small, now mostly program marathons of their most popular shows.
You know about “Ridiculousness” on MTV, of course. But did you know how much time Disney Channel runs “Big City Greens,” Nick Jr. airs “Paw Patrol,” Adult Swim telecasts “Bob’s Burgers” and “American Dad,” and Nick at Nite runs “Friends”? A lot.
As basic cable gets zombified, the double-digit declines continue. Live sports, of course, is saving the broadcast networks and some cable networks still in that game. And then there’s the interesting case of the diginets, which have managed to keep their declines small as they program a wider range of nostalgia fare to aging adults. And the networks with a very loyal, specialized audience — bravo,...

As Indigenous woman filmmakers, we knew that our path through the industry would be narrow and that our film, Fancy Dance, would have a small window for success based on the abysmal record of representation for Indigenous folx in Hollywood. As such, we channeled our collective wills as granddaughters of Dust Bowl survivors, descendants of genocide and avowed followers of the indomitable Merata Mita to give this film the best shot possible.

Kirk, Mr. Spock, and Uhura. For better or for worse, these names and faces are inextricably tied to the characters they played.

Is it any wonder that Bass Reeves was the inspiration for The Lone Ranger?
We meet Bass in the middle of an ongoing battle Civil War, where he’s fighting side-by-side with his “owner,” Confederate Army Commander George Reeves.
Bass promises George he will follow him into battle and fire when necessary, and he does just that, shooting with laser-sharp precision, never missing his mark.
Like all wars, it’s a disgusting scene, and this one culminates in white men masquerading as Native Americans, scalping their opponents after their victory.
On Lawmen: Bass Reeves Season 1 Episode 1, we learn quickly that the brightest, most well-adjusted man in any room is Bass himself. Despite his circumstances, he’s a moral man who is fearless in the face of moral ambiguity or outright absence.
A story of a man this good might not work if not for David Oyelowo’s portrayal. He plays...

Paramount+’s Lawmen: Bass Reeves episode one introduces David Oyelowo as the legendary lawman whose life was dedicated to protecting the peace in the Old West. Reeves was credited with arresting over 3,000 criminals while serving as a Deputy U.S. Marshal, and it’s not a stretch to believe he might have been one of the inspirations for The Lone Ranger.
Lawmen: Bass Reeves was created and written by Chad Feehan, based on the books Follow the Angels, Follow the Doves: The Bass Reeves Trilogy, Book One and Hell on the Border: The Bass Reeves Trilogy, Book Two by Sidney Thompson. Episode one focuses on the last days of Bass Reeves’ enslavement and the time he spent with the Seminoles, with David Oyelowo delivering a powerful performance as the runaway slave turned gunslinging lawman.

Judy Nugent, the former ’50s child actor who co-starred with Jane Wyman in Magnificent Obsession, Annette Funicello in the popular Annette serial on ABC’s The Mickey Mouse Club and flew in the arms of George Reeves’ Superman in a 1954 episode of The Adventures of Superman, died of October 26 cancer, surrounded by family at her ranch in Montana. She was 83.
Her death was announced in a family statement released by daughter-in-law Anne Lockhart, the Chicago Fire actor and daughter of Lost in Space star June Lockhart.
A Los Angeles native – she was the daughter of MGM prop man Carl Nugent – Nugent had already appeared in a handful of uncredited roles, including in the 1951 film Angels in the Outfield, when she landed her breakthrough role as Donna Ruggles in the 1949-52 TV series The Ruggles, an early family sitcom starring comic actor Charles Ruggles (Bringing Up Baby). Leading up to the Grammy nominations on Nov. 10, Rolling Stone is breaking down 16 different categories. For each, we’re predicting the nominees, as well as who will (and who should) win on Grammy night.
This is a moment overflowing with worthy country songs, so even though this category makes room for six nominees, there are others worth considering. Megan Moroney’s “Tennessee Orange” has to be in the conversation, according to CMT’s Leslie Fram. “I listened to all her songs and was like, ‘Ok, she is a real songwriter,...

Judy Nugent, who portrayed one of the twins on the early TV sitcom The Ruggles and a girl who flies around the world in the arms of the Man of Steel on a heartwarming Adventures of Superman episode, has died. She was 83.
Nugent died on Oct. 26 “surrounded by family at her Montana ranch after a short battle with cancer,” according to a family statement shared by her daughter-in-law and Battlestar Galactica and Chicago Fire actress Anne Lockhart (the older daughter of Lassie and Lost in Space star June Lockhart).
The younger daughter of a prop man at MGM, Nugent also appeared in two films directed by Douglas Sirk: as a wise-cracking tomboy who tries to get a blinded widow (Jane Wyman) to snap out of it in Magnificent Obsession (1954), and as one of the daughters of Fred MacMurray and Joan Bennett’s characters in There’s Always Tomorrow (1956).

Lawmen: Bass Reeves is not a spinoff of 1883, but it had the chance to be. The Paramount+ anthology series, premiering Sunday, November 5, stars David Oyelowo as the legendary Bass Reeves, the first Black deputy marshal in the United States who’s said to have inspired The Lone Ranger. The eight-episode season is set from “roughly 1862 to 1877,” creator, executive producer, and showrunner Chad Feehan tells TV Insider. Feehan was “given the opportunity” to connect Bass Reeves to Taylor Sheridan‘s Yellowstone universe but chose not to. Here, Feehan explains why. Viewers will see lots of similarities between Bass Reeves and Sheridan’s hit western shows. In addition to having Sheridan as an executive producer, the Bass Reeves title sequence looks a lot like 1883 and 1923‘s and they have Yellowstone actor Mo Brings Plenty in the cast and as a cultural consultant (he ...
